JXTA HelloWorld problem

Hi!
I've been proggraming in Java quite a while now, but I need to use JXTA in a project and I'm totally new to it. I'm trying to run some examples in JBuilder7 (the classic HelloWorld among others), and I keep getting the following exception (it looks huge):
Netscape security model is no longer supported.
Please migrate to the Java 2 security model instead.

I have installed everything by the book, and added the libraries and evrything, but I can't get further. I tried to report the bug as the message says, but the e-mail address doesn't exist (must be some old stuff I guess). Anybody has a clue about this?
Thanks in advance,
Marta

I know nothing about this other than what I found in a couple of Google searches:
http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&lr=lang_en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22Netscape+security+model%22+%22+Please+migrate+to+the+Java+2+security+model%22&btnG=Google+Search
http://www.google.com/search?q=xjava.security
Which I suggest you review. It appears that something you have is trying to reference an old security feature that used to be in Netscape. It no longer is valid, so the message. Your guess re the age of the product is probably right. The xjava.security package is a part of a third-party security product from Cryptix.
Good hunting!

    I saw this topic in an old thread but couldn't find the answer. My

    Could you post your solution if you know the answer to this problem.
    Thanks a lot.

    Yes, you are right. I'm currently using jdk1.3. Is there a fix or do I
    have to go back to jdk1.2? Thanks a lot.

    As I said, apparently, you are trying to compile the IDL
    client in java using the RMI client classes. THere are two
    problems with this:
    1-- you must compile the rmi class definitions into a
    directory that can be easily excluded from the class path at
    the time you compile the idl definitions.
    2-- the idl definitions and the resulting classes are useless
    wrt the rmi definitions and wls, so the resulting classes must
    be compiled into directories other than those used by wls and
    the rmi clients.
    Another way to look at this is as follows:
    To compile the rmi definitions, you do:
    set ORIGINALCLASSPATH=CLASSPATH
    set CLASSPATH=../fooclasses;$CLASSPATH
    javac -d ../fooclasses rmi/FooImpl.java
    Then,
    -- you compile the jrmp classes as:
    rmic -d ../jrmpclasses rmi.FooImpl
    -- you compile the weblogic classes as:
    java weblogic.rmic -d ../wlsclasses rmi.FooImpl
    that is, you are allowed to compile from the same
    implementation class so long as it is compliant
    -- you compile the rmi-iiop classes as:
    java weblogic.rmic -iiop -d ../rmiiiopclasses rmi.FooImpl
    that is, as with jrmp and wls, the rmi-iiop classes share the
    same base type definitions and implementation.
    However, the idl classes are another matter. To compile the
    idl classes, you must generate the idl, generate the java
    files and generate the idl class files into another, separate
    directory, one which does not include any of ../fooclasses,
    ../jrmpclasses, ../wlsclasses or ../rmiiiopclasses
    directories.
    That is,
    java weblogic.rmic -idlDirtecory ../idl ...
    set CLASSPATH=ORIGINALCLASSPATH
    set CLASSPATH=../idlclasses;CLASSPATH
    cd ../idl
    idl2java rmi/Foo.idl
    javac -d ../idl rmi/*.java
    Hope this helps...

  • HelloWorld problems

    I get the following error when I try to execute the HelloWorld sample. The service is called master.test and I can test connect to it from the Net8 Assistant and I can access iFS from a browser. I have updated the sample code to reflect proper service and authentication information.
    oracle.ifs.common.IfsException: IFS-20010: Failed to get PropertiesResourceBundler master.test
    java.util.MissingResourceException: Can't find bundle for base name oracle.ifs.server.properties.master.test, locale en_US
    The developers guide indicates the cause of this error is a missing service definition, but the service is defined and working, as confirmed by the Net8 Assistant and by accessing iFS through the local Apache server.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    null

    Okay, I think I'm getting closer to figuring this out. I am being sure to use a service name that a file exists for, but I still get the same error. Could this have to do with my classpath? I am using JBuilder 4.0 and while I have added all the appropriate jars to my classpath, I have made no other changes. Should I add something to my classpath or define some other variable?
    Thanks,
    Andrew Martin

  • HelloWorld Problem

    I am VERY new to Java so please be patient with me. That being said I have used the example in the O'Reilly book series for creating the Applet "HelloWeb". I compiled it and have a class file put into the same directory as this HTML code
    <html>
    <head>
    </head>
    <body>
                   <applet code="HelloWeb" width="300" height="200">
    </applet>
    </applet>
    </body>
    </html>
    When I launch the browser it say's that it cannot load the class and all I get is a grey box with the specified height and width. I am using IE 6 on my Wintel box and it is Java enabled so shouldn't be having problems there. Maybe this is an HTML issue but thought I'd ask here first. Any ideas?

    Here's the code.
    public class HelloWeb extends java.applet.Applet {
         public void paint ( java.awt.Graphics gc ) {
              gc.drawString ("Hello Web!", 125, 95 ) ;
    And as far as my IE settings. Yes, the checkbox exists and it is checked. The only other one that is checked is under Msoft's VM. It's the one that say's JIT compiler for Virtual Machine is enabled. Should this be off? I didn't think it mattered a bit.

  • Most basic "helloworld" problem

    Hello World worked fine.
    But now I can't get anything other than "Hello World" even when I have completely altered the file. What am I missing?

    The only explanations are:
    - You (your IDE) don't recompile at all after editing the sources.
    - You do recompile, but for some reason you are running the old .class file instead.
    I suggest you look around in your project's folder for your .class file(s), delete them all and let your IDE build and run again. What happens?
    (Actually I suggest you compile and run from command line or Ant instead...)

  • Problems with the HelloWorld program

    I cannot run the helloworld program can someone help me with that. I am completely new to java programming.

    That's a rather vague description of the problem.
    What happens when
    you type this:
    javac -version
    java -versionCarefull there Jos. You'll probably have to specify where to type in that
    stuff. Otherwise the OP might type it in his IDE/text-editor...His what?!?!1!!!*one*!!!111??? how perverted ...
    kind regards,

  • JSAPI : Problems with the speech recognition HelloWorld example

    I just started off with JSAPI. And I immediately ran into problems. These are the configurations and the stuff I did:
    My system:
    OS: WinXP
    JDK: JDK 6 Update 10
    IDE: Netbeans 6.0
    I downloaded the FreeTTS.zip from the FreeTTS site [http://freetts.sourceforge.net/docs/index.php] . I expanded it and in the lib folder I ran the jsapi.exe and as a result jsapi.jar war generated.
    I included this jar in my project lib as jar.
    Then I copy pasted HelloWorld speech recognition example code given in the site : [http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/speech/forDevelopers/jsapi-guide/Recognition.html#11644]
    First it gave a compile time error that
    rec.deallocate();throws an exception which needs to be handled. Accordingly I surrounded it with a try catch block and caught the exceptions in the manner given below:
       try{
             rec.deallocate();
                        System.exit(0);
                    } catch (EngineException ex) {
                        Logger.getLogger(HelloWorld.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
                    } catch (EngineStateError ex) {
                        Logger.getLogger(HelloWorld.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex);
    Now the code was compiling without problems.
    When I executed the code a runtime exception (NullPointerException) was thrown at the line
          rec.allocate();  in the psvm(String args[])
    Can anybody please explain to me where I am going wrong? Or is there something more that needs to be added in the code?
    Anxiously waiting to hear from your end.
    Thanks and regards,

  • Strange problem when tried to convert HelloWorld.class..

    Hi friends..
    i've downloaded the Java Card SDK 2.2.1, and i tried to compile HelloWorld application that shipped with its distribution..
    i found strange problem when i tried to convert HelloWorld.class into .CAP, etc.. :(
    I use Windows XP, assume that i've set the Environment Variables needed
    i've compiled the HelloWorld.java into HelloWorld.class..
    the package of of HelloWorld is : com.sun.javacard.samples.HelloWorld;
    and i use this config file :
    -out EXP JCA CAP
    -exportpath .
    -applet  0xa0:0x0:0x0:0x0:0x62:0x3:0x1:0xc:0x1:0x1 com.sun.javacard.samples.HelloWorld.HelloWorld
    com.sun.javacard.samples.HelloWorld
    0xa0:0x0:0x0:0x0:0x62:0x3:0x1:0xc:0x1 1.0and then i tried to run converter script in the Console :
    *C:\java_card_kit-2_2_1\samples>converter -config com\sun\javacard\samples\HelloWorld\HelloWorld.opt*
    *error: file com\sun\javacard\samples\HelloWorld\HelloWorld.opt could not be found*
    Usage:  converter  <options>  package_name  package_aid  major_version.minor_ve
    sion
    OR
    converter -config <filename>
                        use file for all options and parameters to converter
    Where options include:
            -classdir <the root directory of the class hierarchy>
                          set the root directory where the Converter
                          will look for classes
            -i            support the 32-bit integer type
            -exportpath  <list of directories>
                          list the root directories where the Converter
                          will look for export files
            -exportmap    use the token mapping from the pre-defined export
                          file of the package being converted. The converter
                          will look for the export file in the exportpath
            -applet <AID class_name>
                          set the applet AID and the class that defines the
                          install method for the applet
            -d <the root directory for output>
            -out  [CAP] [EXP] [JCA]
                          tell the Converter to output the CAP file,

            -nobanner     suppress all standard output messages
            -noverify     turn off verification. Verification is defaultPlease help me regarding this, because i'm new in this field..
    Thanks in advance..

    Thanks safarmer for your reply..
    i tried this :
    C:\java_card_kit-2_2_1\samples>javac -target 1.3 -source 1.1 -g -classpath .\cla
    sses;..\lib\api.jar;..\lib\installer.jar src\com\sun\javacard\samples\HelloWorld
    \*.java
    javac: invalid source release: 1.1
    Usage: javac <options> <source files>
    use -help for a list of possible options
    C:\java_card_kit-2_2_1\samples>javac -target 1.3 -source 1.2 -g -classpath .\cla
    sses;..\lib\api.jar;..\lib\installer.jar src\com\sun\javacard\samples\HelloWorld
    \*.java
    it seems that i can't specify the -source to 1.1, so i tried to use -source 1.2..
    after that, i tried to convert again, and i got this error :

  • Problem verify web services HelloWorld JAX-RPC

    I have executed the tutorial Jax-RPC HelloWorld,
    but when I verify the web service my browser display
    A Web Service is installed at this URL.
    This endpoint is incorrectly configured. Please check the location and contents of the configuration file.
    which it is the problem?
    you can help me?
    thanks

    Check if the endpoint property of the build.properties file
    (ex. endpoint=...ttp://localhost:8080/SmsWSservice/SMS/SmsWSIF)
    matches exactly (is case sensitive) the url pattern element content (ex. <servlet-mapping>
              <servlet-name>JAXRPCEndpoint</servlet-name>
              <url-pattern>/SMS/*</url-pattern>
         </servlet-mapping>) of the web.xml file.
    In the examples above the url-pattern "SMS" must match the part of the URL between "...ttp://localhost:8080/SmsWSservice/" and the reference of the interface ("SmsWSIF).
    Hope it helps
