Keeps showing update

In the last week whenever I go to the App store, it indicates one app has an update (DateLine), but I know this isn't an update because they company can't upload fixes several times in a day or every day for a week. I know the answer is just to ignore the sign there's an update (the red circle with 1 in the middle), but it's seem something needs reseting. Anyyone have this problem, and more so, found a solution?

I found out what was causing my problem (can't re-install an app that I deleted and which was purchased from the App Store). The app I was trying to re-install under Lion was Apple's Compressor v4 which is only available through the Mac App Store. However, even though I was booting from my one-and-only copy of Lion the Mac App Store was apparently getting confused by an old copy of Compressor v3.5 that was installed on another boot disk that I maintain for Snow Leopard. I'm running on a quad-disk Mac Pro so all four disks mount whenever I start the system. In any case, all I had to do was unmount the other disks and the Mac App Store then allowed me to install Compressor v4 on my Lion system.
The reason I was able to pinpoint this solution is that I wanted to run another Mac App Store app (Find Any File) and even though the Store said it was "Installed" I couldn't find the application in either the Lion Application folder or within LaunchPad. I then realized that the App Store was referencing the copy of that app that was stored on my Snow Leopard disk and unmounting that disk finally allowed me to install both Compressor v4 and Find Any File on my actual/current boot disk (i.e. Lion).
Now, the odd thing about this problem is that Compressor v4 wasn't installed on any of my disks, it was the older version of Compressor (v3.5.3) that apparently was preventing me from installing the new version 4 on my Lion system. In fact, Compressor v3.5.3 crashes immediately under Lion so that version of the app isn't even usable when I'm running Lion.
So, if you're having a problem with installation or app removal or updates from the Mac App Store try dismounting any other disks which you might have attached to your Mac and see it that solves your problem. If it does solve the problem then you can almost be assured that the cause of your difficulty is some file that is present on one of your other disks (i.e. app may not even be on your current boot disk).

  • Why does my brand new mack (w/ Safari 7.0.3) keep showing updates for Maverick?

I want to turn this update notification off.  I have googled Maverick and my question in various ways and cannot find an answer regarding the Maverick issue.
    Two things:
IF I upgrade to Maverick will the whole look and interface of my computer look different?
AND  if yes, then I want to get rid of that annoying update in my apple apps.  It keeps showing I need to update to maverick 10.9.4.

In the Apple icon menu bar, click on 'About this Mac' to see in the resulting window
what the current OS X version is that is running in your 'new' Macintosh computer...
Some computers shipped with an older Mac OS X 10.8.x Mountain Lion system
and if you don't mind that, it should be fine for awhile. The next latest system after
Mavericks should be supported (when available) in the future, so you may or may
not want to upgrade ahead of that.
If you have software that needs a newer OS X than whatever is installed in your Mac,
then you could look into any other upgrades that may be necessary in hardware prior
to upgrading the operating system. Some computers would prefer more RAM memory
installed, and perhaps some may need a firmware update, etc. Since you do not say
what model, build, version, or exact identifier of your equipment, that's hard to tell...
You will have to identify the computer more exactly, before anyone can guess its specs.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • App Store keeps showing update for program that has been uninstalled

The App Store keeps showing an update available for Virus Barrier Express even after I have removed it completely from my system.  Going into the Purchased list shows it is not installed.  When the application was installed it always said there was an update.  No matter how many times you clicked Update and allowed it to download and install the update, the App Store still showed the update needed to be installed.
On another machine it constantly shows an update for one of the installed applications but clicking the update button doesn't clear the update once it's been downloaded and installed.
Deleting the App Store preference hasn't resolved the issue.  Enabling the debug menu and using the Reset Applications option has not either.

  • Updated apps but iTunes still showing updates?

I have updated all apps on all devices and yet iTunes keeps showing updates. My brother used to use this iTunes under a different log in so could that be it? Also how do you permanently delete apps you don't want from purchased apps? My kids download the craziest apps!

What's up with the font, that is difficult and annoying to read.
The next time you sync your device with your computer, it will recognize that the apps have been updated on the device and copy those updated apps back to the computer.
You do need to ensure that iTunes is logged in with YOUR iTunes account prior to syncing your device.

  • Mac App Store showing updates for an app I didn't purchase

This is because you (or let's say someone else) has been doing some very naughty Utorrenting.
Now, with this info to arm yourself, you may be able to figure out what cracked item you have placed on that machine.

Tap and hold an app until they all start jiggling and an X appears in the icon's top left corner. One by one tap the X to delete the app. when they are all gone you are free to buy them again with your own account.

I had to create a new Apple ID but it won't let me update apps it keeps showing my old account how do I stop that from happening

Apps are always associated with the AppleID that purchased them, you cannot use another AppleID with them,
So in order to update them you must use the credentials that were used to purchase them.
You can chnge the details (Name and Primary email) for an AppleID instead of creating a new one.

  • Updated latest iTunes = Long list of iTunes Permission Repairs Keep Showing Up

This was a well known 'problem' on the last system I was using which was Snow Leopard. Everytime you repaired permissions you got a mile long list of permissions that could not be repaired. This was said by Apple to be normal and ignore it.
On my new latest model mini with Mountain Lion (10.8.5) I haven't had this happen.... until today when I updated to the latest iTiunes (11.1)

I mean, ***??? AGAIN with this baloney???

You are correct in that it isn't an end all solution to system errors, but it can be a good thing to do every once in a while as a sort of preemptive measure against possible problems that may or may not become real problems down the line. And not all of us like the conformity of using the system for things other than just running apps "the way they where meant to" all the time.
Say you like to create your own apps or try things out in a more advanced than average kind of way and thereby finding new uses for the computer and it's OS. I'm not even talking about hacking the system in any way, just using it for more than browsing, checking your e-mail, making music or editing photos and videos. You don't even have to be very advanced about it or even that experimental to sometimes run into a bit of a mess.
For instance: installers sometimes take ownership of files during installation and aren't always super-tidy when they "clean up" after themselves, even if the app and its installer is built specifically for Mac OS by professionals. As in the op's case (and mine) where the iTunes 11.1 update, built and probably double or even triple checked by Apple themselves, managed to mess up a little by omitting certain information during the installation. It happens sometimes, and when it does it is better to be safe than sorry should something go wrong because of it.
We are still running a 64-bit OS with tons of code all over the place. It's pretty advanced stuff, and there are a lot of things that can go wrong even if you are careful.
Wow, sorry for the rant. I'm just so unbelievably tired of people saying things like "you're doing it wrong" without even trying to answer the op's question.
    I'm out, peace!

  • Creative Cloud keeps showing me available updates for previous (removed) versions. Can I stop it?

In the task menu (top right of desktop on Mac), CC keeps showing me a number for the apps that have available updates. When I click to see what they are, I see that the updates are for previous versions that I no longer have installed. So... example below. As you can see, there are 3 updates available for Installed apps - InDesign CC, After Effects CS6, and Flash Pro CS6. But I no longer have those apps installed on my system. When I upgraded to CC (2014), I deleted all those apps from my application folder.
I can't find a preference to tell CC this, or have it stop alerting me to updates I don't need.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

  • RH 9.0.2 update keeps showing up in Adobe Application Manager (AAM)

AAM keeps showing up in my Windows XP system tray, and listing the 9.0.2 update. I install it and *zingo-bingo* it's back when AAM checks for updates again.
When the update is installing it gets to 13%, then the progress bar suddenly surges to 100% and reports that installation is complete. This is tiresome, annoying, and frustrating.
I searched the fora about this problem but was unable to find any articles on it, so...
...if anyone has any ideas handy, I'm definitely in the market.
    Thanks in advance,

I think this is similar to something I have seen before. I don't have the standalone version of RoboHelp 9, mine is part of TCS3 so I don't get a separate entry.
What happens is Add/Remove and Help > About get out of sync and then you have issues. The only solution is to uninstall and then press F5 in Add/Remove. If there is still an entry, don't panic. Repeat the process until it does go. Then reinstall and add the patches one by one.
The steps I have described were necessary for RoboHelp 8 and I believe RoboHelp 9 should uninstall in one pass.
Whatever the rights and wrongs there, I believe you are going to have to uninstall and reinstall.
