Keithley 2701: pb with tcpip

Hello,
My Keithley 2701E DMM isn't detected on Lan by MAX, neither by "find ressource.vi" !
It is accessible via a Windows tcpip ping, and via the Keithley remote web page.
It is also ok with Labview vi if I forced the Visa command with the @tcpip of the Keithley.
Why it is not detected by MAX (if I do "add ressource" in tcpip) and not detected by "find ressource.vi"?
thank
Franck

Hi,
What's your LV and MAX version ? MAX searches automatically the default port, so you can't select which port MAX will search. So you should force MAX to search the port you want to select as explain in this KB.
Hope this helps.

  • Ethernet connection with Keithley 2701: Error in Initialize

    Hi,
I am a beginner with Labview 2009 and am trying to interface my Keithley 2701 with an Ethernet connection. I can access the instruments internal web page and successfully use the interactive control panel so I don't think my computer is having a problem connecting to the instrument. When I run the Example VI's provided by Keithley/NI (obtained from the find instrument drivers) it works with a serial connection but when I connect with the Ethernet I get the Error: "Error -1073807343 occurred at VISA open in Keithley 27xx.lvlib: Initialize.vi". I have configured a TCPIP address through Keithley's configuration panel and the Keithley 2701 IP address shows up in the Example VI's as a port to communicate with yet fails when it tries to run the VI. If anyone has had any experience with this problem or may know how to solve it I would greatly appreciate the help.
    Thanks!

I have tried to list the device in MAX. However the following is given:
"VISA returned this static device when finding resources, and MAX was able to use VISA to parse the resource name.  MAX was not able to successfully open a VISA session to the device."
The following post says the MAX has an issue connecting to TCPIP ports
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/92D475E7246846E786256ED700556D98
I am currently trying to run the VI given in the page above but as of now I keep receiving the same error message.
    Thanks.

  • Looking for examples/help on using Ethernet with Keithley 2701 DMM

All of the example code utilizing their IVI driver is based on GPIB or RS232. I specifically bought the 2701 to utilize the Ethernet port, but cannot find CVI examples on how to do this. Can anyone point me to an ethernet example using their driver and the Ethernet port? Or perhaps post a non-Keithley ehternet driver and examples on its use?

    Hi Paul,
What you have been told is exactly what you need to do.
Here is a document in NI web that explains about it:
How Can I Communicate With a Keithley 2701 DMM?
There is also an Instrument driver that NI built for these DMM:
LabVIEW Certified Plug and Play Instrument Driver
To find this documents you need to go to NI.com and at the top on the search box enter 2701. That will give you all the documents related to this.
    Thank you

  • Keithley 2701 LV driver: Setting the scan rate?

I downloaded the Keithley 2701 LV driver and the example programs work great. There is just one question that I have. I cannot find anywhere in the examples or in the LV drivers how to change the scan rate or scan interval. Everything else I'm able to change, such as number of points, channels, voltage levels, etc., but I can't figure out how to change my scan rate to once every 0.5 seconds or 1 second.
I'm not sure, maybe this is a question for Keithley but since it is a LV driver I decided to post here first.
    I'm using LV8.2
    Jeff

I am using the Keithley 2700 with the 7700 cards.  There is a vi named "ke27xx Configure Aperture Timing.vi" in the "ke27xx.llb" .
The vi sets the integration time for the A/D converter.  I was measuring 500uv and needed to improve my accuracy so increased my integration time.

  • How can I use my Keithley 2100 DMM with LabVIEW 7 Express?

How can I communicate with Keithley 2100 digital multimeter using LabVIEW 7.0?

    Hi,
There are a number of ways,
    1) Unfortunately the driver on the Keithley site is for labview version 8.0, so you could speak to keithley to see if they can provide a ver7.0 of the instrument driver
    2) You could use the version for the 2000 model from the NI website
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/utf8/niid_web_display.download_page?p_id_guid=E3B19B3E90B0659CE034080020E748...
There is a version 7.0 which you could modify to suit the 2100
    3) Use the VISA vi's and create your own driver using the user manual for the bus commands to driver the instrument.
    Hope this helps

  • Is the Keithley 2612A compatible with Labview 7.1?

    Hi,
I've got a shiny new Keithley 2612A dual channel sourcemeter and would like to start using it our lab's system.  We are currently using LabView 7.1.
I found a driver for the 2612A, but it says it's only compatible with LabView 8 or higher:
    http://www.keithley.com/base_download?dassetid=51950
Does anyone know of another driver, or other method that I might get this thing working in LabView 7.1?
    Many thanks,
    John
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Download it and post it to the Downconvert thread.
edit - It's a project style driver which was introduced with LabVIEW 8. It might take a little longer.

  • Keithley 2750 interfacing with LabVIEW 8.5?

This is my first time trying to set up the two software and hardware.  The Keithley 2750 was originally installed and taking data using ExceLink.  Now, I want to use LabVIEW instead for data acqusition.  I have already installed the LabVIEW cds.
Where do I start to set up the interface between the Keithley 2750 multimeter and LabVIEW 8.5?

If the title says Agilent, then you have opened the wrong example. Exactly which driver did you download? Project style plug and play or just the plain plug and play? Where did you install it? With either, you should have a folder under your instr.lib called ke27xx. What is in that folder will depend on the type of driver you downloaded. The project style (recomended), will have a .lvlib and .lvproj files and folders called Examples, Private, and Public. If you don't have these, what do you have? Post an image of the directory structure.

  • Speeding the Keithley 6485 readings with LabView

    Hi All,
I'm new with LabView and with current measurements. I'm using a Keithley 6485 Pico-Amp to recored the current changes in microchannels. I downloaded the instrument drivers from the NI website and I tried to control the Pico-Amp current readings with LabView 7.1 but the rate of readings from the Pico Amp was slow ( a reading every 0.5 s). I tried to change a lot of parameters and I found the main problem causing such slow measurements is the read VI for the Pico-Amp was very slow in the while loop.
is there any way to recored fast continuous measurements from the Pico-Amp using the read VI in a while loop with LabView 7.1?.  or if there is another to do fast recordings form the Pico-Amp with LabView?
I appreciate your help and suggestions.
    thanks

thanks a lot guys for your suggestions and comments.
at the present time I'm using the analog output of the Pico -Amp to recored the readings via a Daq since I couldn't control it form the drivers. So,  I only control the Pico Amp from the front panel.
Dennis, thanks for your suggestions and it is true that fetch multi-point is faster but it is still not fast enough since I want reading at a rate of 40-50 Hz. if you know of a way to increase the readings rate to the frequency I need it will be helpful.
    F. Schubert, thanks for comments. I don't know how to change the NPLC since when I change the value in the VI an error message appears and Labview terminates. the NPLC setting is 1 and PLC 60 Hz.
I attached a sample of VI I'm using to find the readings from the Pico-Amp and I would appreciate any suggestions to improve the readings rate. also how can I change the NPLC value of the device?
    Thanks

  • Keithley connexion problem with MAX

    Hi everybody,
I have a problem finding a Keithley device in LabView Measurement and Automation Explorer (Max, version 4.6).
I have entered all necessary network parameters in windows (ip adress, subnet mask, etc...) and if I ping the Keithley through the windows command box, I get an answer, so no connexion problem. But when I want to add it in Max, automatic detection doesn't work, and if I enter the ip adress manually and validate I get an error message saying that the device cannot be found and containing the Visa error code 0xBFFF0011.
I have also tried to add it with a raw socket using the port number that I find in the Keithley, it still doesn't work... The most puzzling is that I have another PC running under the same OS, with the same version of Max and the same parameters, and it works on this pc!!
Please help me, I'm getting desperate...
    Thank you very much!!

    Hello.
As you say the same instrument works with another computer, have you checked if the firewall configuration is the same on both computers?
Did you try to connect your instrument directly to the computer through a local nertwork?
DO you have the same version of the NI-VISA drivers on both computers?
    Best regards

  • Keithley 2182A readout with GPIB

I have trouble reading out the buffer in the keithley 2182A nanovlotmeter after a measurement sweep. I am using the Keithley 2182 buffer read.vi developed by Keithley, and am running on Labview 2010.
When i run the buffer read.vi it returns an array with the correct stored measurement values. When i run the vi as a subvi in my larger programme however (as I need to do), it returns an array with the correct number of elements, but with the first stored value in all of the elements of the array.
I believe the vi was originally made for LabView 8.5.
Has anybody encountered a similar problem with reading out buffers? Is it a timing issue that when run as a subvi it only reads the first element?

    Chris.smiet wrote:
I use the 2182A nanovoltmeter in conjunction with a 6221 current source, connected with a trigger link cable. (I know i can also address the 2182A via the 6221's vi's and a rs232 cable, but i want to address it directly via GPIB for added flexibility). I perform a current sweep (with 1024 steps) with the 6221 and want to measure the resulant voltage and store it in the buffer of the 2182A.
The problem is that I cannot read out the buffer of the 2182A  using the given vi as a subvi (as it is supposed to be used). I tried a much simpler vi to store 10 random measurements (no wires attached, what is measured is random) in the buffer (trigger = timer). When I read out the buffer, the vi returns an array with all elements the same, and equal to the first element in the buffer (wich I can read out from the keithley by using the front panel)
I use the "Keithley 2182 buffer read.vi" in the keithley 2182 version 6 driver library downloaded from  http://www.keithley.com/base_download?dassetid=10070
A trigger link cable? Doesn't that kinda raise a flag?
Do you know what commands are in these VIs you are using? Do you understand what is happening with the triggering of measurements?
Understanding *how* the instruments works is important. And it starts with *reading* the manual.

  • Reading DC volts from Keithley 2000 Multimeter with LabView

    Hello,
I am new to LabView. I am trying to read and write DC Volts data from a KE2000 Multimeter using KUSB-488A interface. I need guidance on how to proceed. I need to simply read the voltage drop across a 1 megaohm resistor and write them in a file to plot later. Please help me with sequential steps since I do not know LabView much. I am using Labview 9.0
Thanks a lot for your help.

There are LabVIEW drivers for the Keithley meters available on the NI Instrument Driver Network.  They include examples that should do what you need with very little effort.
    Using LabVIEW: 7.1.1, 8.5.1 & 2013

  • T500 Crashes with tcpip.sys

    Vista Ultimate SP2
OK, my fan has been fixed now and the temperature-related crashes have disappeared. Thanks:-)
Only now my system crashes with a message mentioning tcpip.sys.
The only way to get around it was to go into safe mode with networking or to uninstall my avast antivirus.
I searched around and there seems to be a very tricky hotfix from Microsoft on that.
    Anyone with experience on it?
    Thanks.
    Solved!

I had two antivirus programs on, one which dealt with the accesses by programs from the laptop to the outer world.
This had worked for two years, but after some updates, it didn't any more.
I removed this one, and it's solved now, even though it might be less protected.
Whocrashed was very helpful in identifying this.

  • Keithley 2701 and _KE2700_initwithoptions LINK error

    Hi
My labwindows compiler does not like to compile my programme which used the KE2700_Init or INit with options
it comes up with Project Link Error for the fuction?
    any ideas?
    Thanks

I think I had the package
looking at the two CWS files I noticed the addresses were different, the address to the DLL missing.
I had to add the .fp fpr Keithley to the CVI. I thought the thing adds itself when it comes up.
I had the same problem with INI routines and I had to add those too.

Hi im facing an unknown issue while sync.
    1. Using a gprs line i can sync the db (Fairly a large db 400mb)
But when use the LAN it says Network Disconnected during async -Check for network Active.
username/password and server url are correctly entered.
From lan when ping the server no timeouts or any errors.
    It does the compose,sending
When receiving phase after about 15minutes i get this message.(Using a vista win32 client)
We have not restricted LAN for anything. For other applications the lan works fine.
    Any suggestion is appreciated.
    Thanks

Is this timing out on a particular publication item? You probably need to do some SQL tuning on a publication item.
Here are a couple things you can put in the polite.ini
    [SYNC]
    TIMEOUT_MAX=900
    RESUME_CLIENT_TIMEOUT=900
The RESUME_CLIENT_TIMEOUT parameter is the number of seconds that the client should use to timeout network operations. The default is 60 seconds.
The fix involved introducing a new parameter (TIMEOUT_MAX) in polite.ini section [SYNC] which can be used to configure the maximum tolerable timeout period during the receive phase.
So if TIMEOUT_MAX = 60 (value to be entered in seconds) then once OCAPI gets a timeout error it will wait a maximum of 60 seconds before returning an error to the user. During the 60 seconds' period OCAPI may attempt DM reads mutiple times (the number of times depends on the socket timeout value and the TIMEOUT_MAX value).

  • Java crash with Tcpip and graphpaperlayout on 1.5, worked on 1.4.2

    Hello,
I have an application that uses a GraphPaperLayout manager and opens a TCP/IP connection to an embedded processor in a remote box on an IP network.
I can open the applet to talk to talk to one box without issues. With java 1.4.2 I could open multiple applets to monitor many boxes. My customer uses a 1.5 VM and opening a second applet crashes the VM (no message in console). I recompiled in 1.5 and get the same result.
Anyone knows what could have changed to cause the crash ?
    Thank you
    Raphael

How do I check if NIO is running non-blocking mode ? I am reusing a tcp/ip basic class (provided with my embedded interface chip) which does not mention it being either way.
I only tried in browser. I have to add code to handle the applet viewer case. it crashes in every browser I tried and has no console dump in any. I put it together quickly for a customer and did not add debugging messages in the code since it was provided and working...
    Gotta go do that now.
    Thanks
