Key date description - is it possible?

Dear all,
we are looking for means to enable users to see/check key date descriptions when entering/choosing key date as parameter. Further problem is that second parameter is hierarchy variable for chosing node(s) from time-dependent hierarchy, i.e. appropriate hierarchy is derived from  key date (on the same parameter screen). It worked fine until this key date description feature was requested.
Basically we just want dates (0DATE based!?) to have text (description). Until now, we found no solution.
Any workarounds?
Kind regrads, Josko.
Edited by: Josko Poljak on Dec 15, 2009 5:21 PM

Dear all,
we solved it. Here is the solution. We created IO Z_ITER with  key (char 60) that acts as description and two nav. attributes 0DATEFROM and 0DATETO.  We do have two query variables Z_ITER_UI (based on IO Z_ITER) which is user input, it serves for user to choose from descriptions (Z_ITER key). Second var. Z_ITER_RP acts as key date . It is replacement path variable based on 0DATE and it inherits 0DATEFROM attribute from var. Z_ITER_UI. Define Z_ITER key format or/and hierarchy for easier sorting and thats it.
Kind regards, Josko.

It is normal to have a person with his birthday, anniversary and others key dates you want to link to such person, but the only one shows up is the birthday. How to be able to show all those dates linked to people in the agenda in the iCal?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I sugggest you try my application, Dates to iCal. It is shareware with a 2 week trial period.
Dates to iCal 2 is a replacement for Apple's birthday calendar for iCal. It has a range of features to allow the user to choose what, and what not, to sync to iCal from Address Book.
As well as automatically syncing birthday dates from Address Book, Dates to iCal 2 can sync anniversary and custom dates. It can set up to five alarms for each date in iCal and can also set different alarms for birthdays and anniversaries. It allows the option of only syncing from one Address Book group. This application also allows for the titles of the events sent to iCal to be modified to the user's preference.
    Best wishes

  • Open orders display in BEX report based on Key date

    Hello All,
    I have a requirement:
We have an existing report which needs to have input selection as Key Date.
The report should display the Open orders based on the key date mentioned.
For Eg: if an item A was Opened on 20th Sept, 2010 and now CLEARED and if I run the ECC report today and mention the key date as 20th Sept, 2010, then the report will show me the item A status as OPEN
Plz help me with the logic for the same at the earliest
    Tthanks..
    Sneha

    Hi Sneha,
I assume you have open and crear dates in your query. So put an open date in your query filter and restrict it as less then Key date variable(which is a variable of type user-input on 0calday), then create another variable that feeds from keydate variable (it can be a replacement path or simplest user-exit).
Note: the another variable is needed because as far as i can remember you cant use the same variable to restrict two different chars in the same query/anyway test if it's not possible - then create another variable as i mentioned.
Take Cleardate in your query filter and restrict it as more than keydate variable andr # (not assigned). (in case if it hasnt been creared at all yet at the key date time)
Pls let me know if this was helpfull

  • AP Aging report - key date for user entry

    Hi All,
We have a requirement to calculate aging buckets like 0-30,31-60,61-90...etc.
I know the key date for this report is created on net due date in SAP standard report.
In standard SAP report , key date is always a system date(SY-DATUM).
What we need for this report is , we need to get all the invoices which are outstanding as of that date(the date which user enters).
If user enters today's date(08/28/07) , he should get all the invoices outstanding till that date in aging buckets and if user enters some date in the past like 07/26/07, he should get all the invoices outstanding as of that date.
Can  someone Pls tell me if aging buckets are calculated based on a user entry ?
    Regards,
    Kumar

    Hi Voodi,
Aging in the standard report is being calculated like below...
    1.For open items
    Posting date<key date
    Item status = O
2.Posting date < keydate and clearing date > key date and net due date with offsets on keydate ( key date + 1 - keydate+30 --- for 1-30 days) like wise for all aging buckets.
in this scenarion , key date is always system date ie today's date.
But user wants to get all the invoices based on his user entry...
is this possible with the same standard key date variable or do we need implement any other logic???
    Regards,
    Kumar

  • Default key date, Document date and posting date needs to be changed automa

    Hi Experts,
The user wants to create a variant for Foreign currency valuation, wherein the default key date, Doc date and Posting date needs to be changed every month automatically. Is it possible?
Please let me know your thoughts.
    Warm regards,
    Murukan Arunachalam

    Hi
    Please follow this process.
Only specify fields that should be changed
Select these fields by entering an X in the checkboxes
Enter a U in the UPDATEFLAG field
Always specify key fields when changing the data, including in the checkboxes
The configuration is an exception here. If this needs to be changed, you need to complete it again fully.
Maintain quantities and dates in the schedule line data.
    1. Minimum entry:
You must enter the order number in the SALESDOCUMENT structure.
You must always enter key fields for changes.
You must always specify the update indicator in the ORDER_HEADER_INX.
    2. Commit control:
The BAPI does not run a database Commit, which means that the application must trigger the Commit so that the changes are read to the database. To do this, use the BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT BAPI.

  • Open Items at key date

    Hello,
I am not really an FI guy, but have a FI request that i am trying to fulfil.
The request is as follows, basically the report FDK43 would be the ideal one if it had the option to choose open items at Key Date, from what i understand and see, it only shows the open items on the  current date.
but since the report does not have that ,  i like to know if it is possible to create a query by joining tables or in the worst case scenario an z report.
The 3 fields that are necessary to the users are, Credit Limit, AR balance, & Credit Exposure, and these should be able to pull up for say what 3 and 6 months prior to today date.
the above report is for the comparison on what is the status today, and what it was 3 months and what it was 6 months ago.
s_alr_87012178, & FBl5n does give the open items on the key date, but the credit limit and the credit exposure is not available on those reports.
Hope i am able to spell out the request.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards

    Hello PBB,
It is close but that is not it, it is giving the 6 months and 12 months balance, but what we are looking for is the snap shot for a specific date the AR, credit limit, and credit exposure.
as i mention before, the s_alr_87012178 report is giving that snap shot on a specify date for the AR, but does not have the credit limit and the credit exposure in that screen.

  • Key Date variable; Interval in query properties for Time Dep. Masterdata

    Hi,
I've been searching on the forum, and I think I know the answer already, but still I'd like
to ask you all whether it's possible to create a Key Date Interval variable to be used in the query properties.
As far as I can see you can only report by a single key date used in the query properties field for time dependant masterdata, but my customer has asked me to investigate the possibility to enter a date range.
As all masterdata is time dependant I don't see how this would work, but if someone can shine a light on this maybe there is a solution available?
    Thanks for your help.
    M.

    Hi marc
    I understand your problem.
I had an idea for a workaround.
If you can create master data compounded with Valid from and Valid to both of these characteristics , how the query is computing
    the keyfigures.
Every change in valid from or valid to is unique for the system in this case.
    Thanks

  • Key date display.

    Hi
Our report displays data according to key date given in the variable.
When a user enters a key date, the report displays the following data
    col1=keydate sales
    col2= MTD
    col3=YTD
Here our requirement is when a user gives keydate and execute, The key date shuld be displayed in the report. Is it possible in report to display the keydate.
    REgards
    Annie

i am not sure if any other better way exists.. but we have done as below
create a formula variable(IX_KEYDT) - customer exit varibale with date dimension, and in the exit, make it as a copy of ur key date.
    CASE i_vnam.
    WHEN 'IX_KEYDT'.
    IF i_step = 2.
      LOOP AT i_t_var_range INTO loc_var_range WHERE vnam = '0P_KEYDA'.
       CLEAR l_s_range.
        l_s_range-low    = loc_var_range-low.
        l_s_range-sign   = 'I'.
        l_s_range-opt    = 'EQ'.
        APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
        EXIT.
       ENDLOOP.
    endif.
    endcase.
create a new column - selection - just drag drop ur formula variable..
*'0P_KEYDA' is the technical name of key date.
    hope it helps

  • Ageing Analysis - Key date

    Dear Experts,
When I am Executing Ageing Analysis u2013 Customer outstanding report (On InfoCube 0FIAR_C03), If I give Key date 31.7.2009, it is showing correct result for grand total balances = Sum of the totals of balances of ( 0 days + 1-30days + 31-60 days etc).
But when  I use the key date for the same query say 4.8.2009, the totals of balances & sum of the totals of balances of ( 0 days + 1-30days + 31-60 days etc) not matching.
In the report for some documents no values are coming in the ageing part, even its balances are there in the balances.
    Could you please help?
    Thanks,
    Nav

    Hello,
Key date is for time dependent master data values only.
Do you have any time dependent master data in the queries??
Also,it will show only those values which are valid on this date....that is the only those values of master data from the cube will be read which have validity period for this date.
So its quite possible that many master data values have there validity period ending on 31st July and therefore there are new values for them and based on that its picking up different value from the cube
so values at 4th August need not match with the key date value for 31st July.
The good Idea could be to see the values of time dependent char which you are using in the query  and its values for both the key dates and then verify the difference.
This could explain why the values are not read from cube even if they are there beecause the master data values in those records does not fall in the validity date which you have given.

  • Cannot change variable for key date in aggregate

    Hello,
when I drag time-dependant attributes into an aggregates definition I am prompted to enter a key date or choose a variable for that. I then activate and fill that aggregate. Afterwards I deactivate it and remove the time-dependant attributes so there are no time-dependant attributes in the definition any longer. I then want to also remove the variable for the key date but I can't do so. This property is greyed out and there is no context menu for the entry "Variable for key date".
The SAP Help says this should be possible by changing the key date variable through the context menu (see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/7d/eb683cc5e8ca68e10000000a114084/frameset.htm).
Has anyone faced this problem, too? I do not want to redefine my aggregate as this is not an elegant solution to the problem.
Thanks to any answers in advance.
    Regards,
    Philipp

    Hey Karim,
Because you have time dependent attributes in the aggregate you need to specify key date:

  • Using a range of dates for Key Date

In a HR Bi data warehouse, we have a position-to-position hierarchy, where each of the nodes are time dependent. So, it shows for each node,  valid from and valid to dates, and all the employees who are reporting to that position. This hierarchy is built on the infoobject 0HRPOSITION, which is maintained in R/3 and extracted to BI.
Let us take an example: Position 1000 is valid from 1-1-2006 to 6-30-2006 Employees reporting to this position are A,B,C,D
Position 1000 is valid from 7-1-2006 to 12-31-9999 Employees reporting to this position are A,E,F,G
When a user chooses the position 1000, and date range 1-1-2006 to 12-31-2006, it show the complete list of employees as
    A,B,C,D,E,F,G.
Because the Keydate can only be a single value, and it is automatically taking today's date, and pulling the nodes based on that.
I have created a hierarchy node variable on the 0HRPOSITION infoObject, and entered the value 1000, with no value for the keydate.
The system is simply showing employees, A,E,F and G. That is my problem
My requirement is this: I like to be able to give a date range, (for the hierarchy)  say from 1-1-2006 to 12/31/2006 and get the complete list of Employees, which is A,B,C,D,E,F,G.
Is this possible? Can I change the way this hierarchy is defined so that I can pull the possible values for a range?

    Thank you Ajay.
After some thinking, I have realized that these options will not work.
We have a position-to-position hierarchy that shows who reports to who in the organization. This hierarchy is built on the Infoobject 0HRPOSITION.  Each node in this hierarchy has is time-dependent. Note that, the entire hierarchy is not timedependent. Only the individual position nodes are time-dependent.
This 0HRPOSITION infoobject exists in the  Heacount cube as one of the characteristics. Here is my requirement.
    1. I want to show in a report, all the employees (directly or indirectly) reporting to a manager for a period of say, 1 year?
I know that I can specify a key date for the hierarchy 0HRPOSITION, then the report will show all the employees (direct and indirect) reporting to a position say 6/30/2008. I don't want this for a specific date, I want to get  ALL the employees (direct and indirect) reporting to a position in a range of dates( say 1 year)
Does that make sense? How do we achieve this goal?

  • Posting date  = Key date

    hi all,
i am a beginner to sap bw, and learning FI AR.  for the 0FIAR_c03_q005 query, they use the posting date <= Key date. I didn't understand the meaning of posting date and key date.
    can you help me?
    thanks

    SKB
Check this for more info on Key date
    Key Date
Each query has a key date. For time-dependent data, the key date determines the time for which the data is selected. The default key date value is the date on which the query is executed, that is <Today>.
           1.      Choose  . The Date Selection dialog box appears.
           2.      Choose a date from the calendar and use the arrow button to add it to the selection window on the right. If you select 01.01.1999 for example, time-dependent data is read up to 01.01.1999.
           3.      Choose OK.
You can also select a variable key date:
           1.      In the Date Selection dialog box, choose the Variables tab page.
           2.      Choose a variable and use the arrow button to add it to the selection window on the right.
In the selection, you may need to know the technical names of the queries as well as their descriptions. In the Description window on the left hand side, choose Technical Names from the context menu (secondary mouse click).
If you want to create a new variable, in the Description window on the left-hand side, choose New Variables from the context menu (secondary mouse click). The Variable Wizard dialog box appears, where you can create new variables .
If you want to change a variable, in the Description window on the left-hand side, select the variable and choose Change Variable from the context menu (secondary mouse click). The Variable Editor dialog box appears, where you can change variables .
           3.      Choose OK.
The key date only applies to time-dependent master data.
    Hope this helps

  • Key Date- Can i define 2 variables

    Hi Guru's,
I have a requirement to define 2 variables in Bex- Key date.
I am thankfull for any inputs of how to go about.
    Thanks
    Hari

    Hi,
Here you should have 2 -  valid to and 2 - valid from fields in the datatarget .One set of Valid to and valid from fields for  Characterstics ZA and another set ofValid to and valid from fields for  Characterstics ZB. And then you can use RKF concept to get the required output .
But it is not at all possible throygh Key date as you exepecting. If I remeber correctly Thats what I suggested you in one of the previous threads.

  • Eliminating/workarounding key date concept in Student File

    Hi,
Short question: can I safely use a default key date of January 1, 1900 everywhere in Student File/Student Master data? with all organizational structure objects also created using this date?
The rationale behind this decision is to reduce confusion for the end user, which I noticed is more than likely.
A classical example is the possibility to version birth dates in Student Master Data even though logically this should be a single instance of data only. Ever. However, if we set the key date as "today" or the beginning of an academic period, any corrections would be seen as versions. This confuses the end user, which version is the current one and which one is merely a data correction (and shouldn't be visible at all).
However, won't setting the key date to 1900 have unexpected complications somewhere else? One complication I already noticed was with creating faculty as HR personnel (they serve as advisors for students and are later assigned in Student File). Faculty birth dates are not allowed to be entered in this case because (I assume) the system thinks faculty can't be born later than the object created (although student birth dates are OK even though the corresponding objects were also created at January 1, 1900)
Overall, is it possible to eliminate the key date concept from the Student File/Master Data completely? As it feels to do more harm than good.
    Janek

    Janek,
Of course becasue there is validity dating of the data values, it is necessary to use a key date when you display/change the data.
For the issue of fields like birthdate, you are right that any 'change' is pretty much a data correction.  It is not possible for a student to really have different brithdates that were valid for different periods!
It really is something that users must be trained to do.  If they are doing a data correction, they should change the data from the first data 'period', rather than just as of the current date.

  • Determine key date at runtime for time-dependant hierarchies

    Hello all,
I have to develop a query based on time-dependant  and version-dependant hierarchy.
I have selection variables for -
    Fiscal year
    posting period
    version
    and hierarchy .
I want to achieve this -
First I want to enter Fiscal Period and posting period and version as user input.
Once this input is done I want to determine the key date based on fiscal year and posting period.
Once the key date is determined i want the hierarchy variable dropdown to show only correct hierarchy in that time for selection.
Is it possible? Please suggest the ways.
    Many thanks and best regards,

I have written following code for determining key date based on fisc year and posting period.
It may be useful for someone
    WHEN  'key date variable'.

        CLEAR l_s_range.
        IF i_step = 2.
READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO loc_var_range WITH KEY vnam = 'fisc year variable'.

          CLEAR loc_var_range.
READ TABLE i_t_var_range INTO loc_var_range WITH KEY vnam = 'posting period variable'.
          IF loc_var_range-low >= 12.
            l_date+4(4) = '1201'.
          ELSE.

            l_date4(2) = loc_var_range-low1(2).
          ENDIF.
*get the last day of the posting period month
         CALL FUNCTION 'SLS_MISC_GET_LAST_DAY_OF_MONTH'
            EXPORTING
