Keyboard mouse not working after Windows update

Question was asked and supposedly answered b4, but didn't tell how to work around no keyboard or mouse. Ie: how do u get to device manager without keyboard/manager? I unplug to reboot and up down keys work in startup. However, when I open in safe mode, keyboard and mouse still don't work.

According to the message you have posted I suspect this could be because of the recent changes made if any
Note: You can use an External USB Keyboard and Mouse if in-built Notebook Keyboard is not working
Please perform the below shown steps to resolve the issue:
Step 01. Turn OFF the PC
Step 02. Power ON the PC and keep tapping F8 Key
Step 03. Select "Last known good configuration" from the Advance Boot Option list
Note: Wait till you get to the Windows Desktop
Step 04. Please remove unwanted startup items and uninstall unwanted applications
Step 05. Please reboot/restart the PC the normal way

VN7-791G all bluetooth devices like Logitech mouse not working after Windows 10 upgrade

After upgrading to Windows 10 on my 2 month old Acer VN7-791G, my Logitech bluetooth mouse could not pair, my bluetooth speakers could not pair and neither could by Nexus 7. All these devices were working fine on Win 8.1 earlier. Under Device Manager, only the generic Windows Bluetooth, Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator and LE Enumerator drivers were showing (dated 21/6/2006). Under Network adapters, the driver showing was the Qualcomm Atheros QCA64x4 ver 10.0.0.62 dated 18/5/2015. I checked that this model is indeed compatible under ACER's website for Windows 10. I have also been checking the ACER drivers for Win 10 for this model but there are no new updated ones for Bluetooth. I downloaded the Win 8.1 ones and installed them but they still would not work (the Microsoft ones are still showing under Device Manager). I had to actually downgrade back to 8.1 a few days ago due to this issue but thought I would try to update to Windows 10 again hoping it would work but still no luck. I had googled but can't seem to find a solution and suspect that I need an updated bluetooth driver for Windows 10 from Acer or Broadcom. The Atheros website do not have any Windows 10 bluetooth drivers as well. I may have to downgrade again and try again in a few months time unless someone could please point me in the right direction. Thank you.

Yay! Success at last! Well, I had to resort to drastic measures which I was dreading and delaying. Basically, I rolled back to Windows 8.1 Then Reset PC to Factory Setting. This wiped out all data and applications/programs After getting back to default Windows 8.1, I tried pairing my bluetooth mouse and it worked I then immediately installed Windows 10 (from ISO file downloaded earlier) off a USB stick I chose the option for a clean install (this doesn't load any of the ACER bloatware) Once logging into Windows 10,I went into Device Manager and uninstalled all Bluetooth drivers Then I ran the setup for the Windows 8.1 Atheros bluetooth drivers as suggested - "LITE-ON Bluetooth_M 3rd WiFi 2x2 AC+ BT M.2 QCA NFA344_3.0.0.373_W81x64" I tried pairing my mouse and Nexus 7 and it works!!! For reference, here is my setup under Windows 10 after successfully pairing bluetooth devices. btw, interesting to see that the event log still reports some error about further installation just like earlier - probably indicates that the Win 8.1 Acer drivers are not 100% compatible yet.

After manual deinstallation of the mentioned updates the VBA-code executes as expected. ListBox seems to be unusable after one of the updates. All other workarounds trying to fill the ListBox cause the same error.

Would you please to tell us which KB caused this issue? As far as I know, after installing
MS14-082 (part of December 2014 Public Updates for Office) you might get the error run-time
error '438': Object doesn't support this property or method, when clicking on the enable content button.
If you have installed MS14-082, please try to install the hotfixs that released in the March 2015:

Kim, a Restore point should have automatically been made by Windows BEFORE processing the update. You should run System Restore using that restore point and then HIDE that update so that it isn't ever installed again.

Macbook pro (retina) keyboard backlight not working after Yosemite update

Wireless router not working after Windows update

I have a WRT54G V.5 wireless router. Windows Vista Home Premium did an auto update. Now wired connection works, wireless does not. Asks for key, but when entered nothing happens. Diagnosis states action was canceled. I have disabled and enabled, does not fix. Any help will be appreciated!

Take not of the Wireless Settings(SSID and WEP/WPA Key) on your Router...
To know the Wireless Settings follow this link
Once you know the Wireless Settings attempt to connect to your Wireless Network...
XP :
Click on Start and goto the Control Panel and double click on Network Connections, right click on Wireless Network Connection and click on Properties.
Now on this window, click on the second tab Wireless Network and give a check mark on "Use windows to configure my wireless" and then remove all the network names present in the Preferred Networks Window. Then click on OK...
Right click on the Wireless Network Connection again and click on View Available Wireless Networks and try to re-connect to your network...
Now it will give you the opportunity to put the network/wep key, make sure you enter the correct network key and confirm it...
It will connect...
Vista :
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Network and Sharing Center >> Manage Wireless Networks, here remove all the networks present and close the Window...
Click on Connect to a Network and try to re-connect to your Network, it should ask for your Network Key/Password, enter the correct password/network key and click Connect...
It should connect...Once you are connected you should restart the computer, it should connect to Internet...

Windows 8.1 freeze on any hardware scan or changes. USB wireless keyboard mouse not working

Problem : System Freezes frequently on any hardware scan or changes.
Symptom : Wireless Keyboard Mouse not working.
Caused by : VMkbd.sys located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers.
Issue : VMware player or VMware Workstation installed on Windows 8.1 causes compatibility issue leading to system freeze
Soultion : Please follow steps below
Step 1: Start > run > regedit
Step 2: Locate to this registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Step 3: On the left side plane, Right click on the registry {4d36e96b-e325-11ce-BFC1-08002BE10318} and then export it as backup. Just to be safe.
Step 4: Edit the UpperFilters, The value current would be kdbclass vmkbd. Remove the vmkbd. So only value left would be kbdclass.
Step 5: Restart your system and connect your USB wireless reciever. If all is well it will not freeze your windows now.

Hello need help on weird happenings to my keyboard..
Before i upgrade the Operating System From Windows XP to Windows 7 the Hp Mini 110 is working fine..
All keys on keyboard is working and touchpad is also working.
But after upgrading to windows 7 some keys on keyboard are not working like z,x,c,v, left ctrl and other more keys..
what do you think is the problem??

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand some of the keys on your keyboard are not working after installing Windows 7.
I do not see any drivers available for your notebook for Windows 7 on the HP website, so their might be some compatibility issues as it's going to rely on Windows update to find current drivers. This doesn't mean it will not work, but I cannot say for sure that it will.
Try this:
1. Click Start.
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click Clock, Language, and Region.
4. Click Region and Language.
5. Click the Keyboards and Languages tab.
6. Click Change keyboards...
7. On the General tab, make sure English (United States) - US is selected in the Default input language field.
8. Click on any other keyboards in the Installed services list.
9. Click Remove.
10. Repeat for all other non-English (United States) keyboards.
You may also want to try rolling back to Windows XP and see if the issue persists. It is possible the issue is coincidental and not the direct result of the update to Windows 7.

Fingerprint Reader not working after windows password reset

Hi There
I was using windows login (single admin user) and fingerprint reader to login to my Thinkpad T510. Yesterday night I changed windows password and I didn't update finger print. Unfortunately I am not able to login when I tried to login using windows login today, I forgot the password and when I tried finger print reader it is just throwing error.
Why finger print is not working after windows password reset? What should I do to login?
Help would be appreciated!!

I just called the tech support just now? I just asked the 'why the finger print reader not recognizing the finger print after changing windows password?', and he gave the following answers
1. You should change fingerprint while changing windows password. I don't understand the reason behind it, btw is this true?
2. We can't do anything for this issue.

Mic Jack not working after Driver Update, Console unavailable, can't install

LMic Jack not working after Driver Update, Console unavailable, can't install? I've had nothing but problems after downloading the latest updates via the auto-updater.
I'm currently using the Creative SB X-Fi Pro Series card. I've had it for close to 6 months and have not had any issues until I ran the auto-updater last night, and while it downloaded over 250Mb of updates, all of them failed to install as described below.
I'm running on Windows Vista Ultimate, 64-bit
My main issue is the fact that my microphone is no longer working. I've done a lot of searching and I think the problem has to do with flexijack not being a microphone jack, but instead is an 'in-line' jack. I can no longer find my audio control console, which allows me to switch between gaming and entertainment modes, ect. The solution I found on the KB says that you can switch the blue jack on the back of the card from an in-line jack to a mic jack within the Audio console. I tried downloading it, but while going through the install, I get an error saying the files could not be found and a prompt which asks for a disk or file location. The same thing pretty much happens with all of the items I attempted to download and install.
I was able to run console fine, as well as use my mic yesterday before I attempted any updates. I attempted the updates because since I've had the card, I've had issues where after I exit a game, all my sound will become crackly and static. Before, I would simply open up the console and switch back-and-forth from gaming to entertainment, which would fix the problem most of the time. If that didn't work, a restart would fix it, but now I've opened up a whole new set of issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I also want to say that the support tickets should not require a serial number to submit a new ticket. My product is registered, so I got rid of the box which contains all that information, leaving me at the mercy of these boards...

Hello all. Fisrt of all, this are my specs: Yoga 2 pro 13". WiFi card: Intel(R)Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260. I bought it from Best Buy on November 27, 2014. If you aquired your Yoga before this date, you may have the single band WiFi card. As many of you have experienced, I also had a bunch of issues with my WiFi connectivity and this is how I was able to solve it. At least it has been a couple of days that I haven't had any issues. The first symptom was the usual connection drops every X amount of time. For me it was about every 2 hours. I first unchecked the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option in the Power Management tab of device manager and disabled U-APSD support in the Advanced tab of device manager. This action did not solve the problem. I then downloaded and updated the driver from the Intel web site (http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect) and this seemed to solve the drops; however, a new problem arised: Everytime my Yoga would wake up from sleeping mode, all my wifi networks were gone and the adapter showed as disabled in Device Manager. I would have to anable it to have my networks back. It was a solution but a pain the butt to have to do this everytime. After hours of reading post after post in several forums, I read a repy from Lenovo asking to try leaving the "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" CHECKED if you were using the latest version of the driver. I went back to device manager and checked it back and that seems to have solved the problem. So far I haven't had any drops and everytime my laptop comes back from sleeping mode the WFi connection is still there! Here is a recap of how everything ended up: -The driver version I installed is 17.1.0.19-The driver date is 7/21/2014-In device manager|Advanced, U-APSD support is Disbled.-In device manager|Power Management, "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked. Well, it has been a long road on the Win 10 upgrade. At first I got the same error message as above, but after deleting the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 in Win 10 using Control Panel Programs and Features and rebooting, I got into the continual BSOD upon reboot. Here are the steps I took to at least get stable on Windows 10. First, I rolled back to Windows 8.1 using the advanced feature in the BSOD recovery options. Once back in Win 8.1, I deleted the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Then I downloaded the Win 10 update and re-installed it. Once that completed, I updated the Intel Graphics driver under the display adapters (on my G780 it is an Intel HD Graphics 4000, and the driver can be found at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/). Currently I am running version 10.18.10.4252 for my machine. Then, under the Device Manager, I updated the Conexant SmartAudio HD driver under the Sound, video, and game controllers. That driver is currently at 8.66.4.50 and was automatically downloaded from the web when I requested to update driver. I also changed several others settings such as Notify to schedule restart after updates are installed instead of automatic (under Settings --> Update & Security --> Advanced Options) and Do you want Windows to download driver software and realistic icons for your devices? --> No, let me choose what to do, never install driver software from Windows Update. After that, I shut down the machine, waited a moment and booted back up. I have no idea why this helped or if it is overkill, but I am stable and running without a fear of rebooting now. Hope this helps if someone else is having this same issue.

I see by your post that the USB isn't being recognized.
I can help you with this issue.
Are you using the same USB cable? (known good USB cable)
You want to use the normal USB slot 2.0 cable and not the latest USB 3.0.
USB 3.0 are supposed to be backwards compatible.
Try another USB port on the Laptop, some of the USB ports are more powered then others.
I have provided a document to see if the printer is partially recognized in the device manager, which is causing the printer not to be recognized again. (the uninstall from the CD should have removed the entry and the printer from the registry)
Leave the printer turned on and the USB cable connected directly to the computer and the printer's power cord directly into a wall outlet.
How do I get into Windows Device Manager?
Here is a document for Identifying problems in Windows Device Manager.
Check to see if there are any hardware driver conflicts, you might see a ! mark or a red x beside a device with a conflict or unknown device, look under universal serial bus controllers, look for USB printing support or mass storage device, delete the entry by right clicking and select uninstall, OK.
Let me know how it was listed. (screen shots welcome)
If this is a Laptop then check the power management settings.
Access the device manager. Windows 8-How do I access the Device Manager.
Select universal serial bus controllers from the list, for each USB root hub, right click and left click on properties, for power management remove the check mark for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". It allows the computer to limit or turn off power for this device.
Disconnect the USB, run the full uninstall and reinstall the printer software again.

You may also want to reset your network settings:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: this will delete any network related settings (saved Wi-Fi passwords, etc), it will not erase any content from your device.
