Keyboard's backspace keeps deleting text...

I'm having this weird problem with my keyboard. When I'm typing in some text or a URL and make a mistake, I press the backspace key once. But for some reason, by pressing it once it continues to erase the text I typed. It doesn't allow me to type in anything until there is nothing more to delete. Please help me, as this is getting very annoying.

I have had that problem too and the only place I see it is when I let someone use it and they go to myspace.com. Other than that, I don't see it anywhere. I am assuming that something on that website is slowing down the iPhone because it awkwardly goes slower. I would just try restarting the iPhone first or something else. This only happened to my first iPhone but not my second one.If reseting it doesn't help, I would recommend staying away from that site for a while.

I have tried that and it doesn't work for me. I can set everything up, but then it won't get mail. At all.. Says server isn't responding. My issue with imap is that it won't create copies like POP does. It downloads directly from the server. So whoever is reading my email (my husband) on his phone, if he deletes it, then it's deleted from my phone, or email client as well. It's a sticky business. Any suggestions?
IMAP is not good for a shared email account for this very reason (but is great for a single reader who uses many devices for access). The best suggestion I have is to create separate email accounts, if possible. Otherwise, you'll both really have to be conscientious about not deleting emails.

Can´t use backspace in Safari for deleting text!?!

In Safari i cant seem to be able to delete entrys with the backspace button.
I can only delete text when using shift+backspace.
Anyone experincing the same???
Backspace works perfectly in Firefox and any other programme. Im using a MBA ultimo 2010.

Try deleting the cache associated with Safari ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy/paste: ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
Click Go then move the Cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Why can I not use mouse or keyboard to delete text?

I have encountered a strange anomaly. I have recently installed the update to OSX and iTunes, and now I have been unable to delete text or correct mistakes using the DELETE key on keyboard or the mouse itself. I can only delete with the pull down menues in Safari or Entourage (my email preference). Any ideas?

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Step 2 in this stupidity - the phone keeps trying to send the deleted text via SMS and wont stop notifying me of this. Totally ruining the functionallity of my phone, and more so totally annoying. All I want to do is stop the constant re-trying of sending the deleted SMS.

Hi, many thanks for your help - Pressing and holding sleep/reset hasn't worked, the msg is still continually reporting it is failing to send. I can restore to a previous version however I'll lose my paid apps. Is there any way to work around this. I'm only concerned about one app - Epocam HD which I purchased last month. My last backup on PC is 4 March 13 - before I bought the paid app - Itunes advises me I'll have to re-pay to get my apps (app) back. Even though it advises that icloud backed up this morning at 1:30 am (which although it is before the text, I cannot manually select this restore).

Deleting text in a file dialog box via simulated keyboard strokes

I am trying to delete text in a file dialog box via simulated keyboard strokes, but the key combination of SHIFT down - HOME - END - SHIFT up does not highlight the text as expected. I attach an example vi that opens its own file open box, enters a text string, which it should subsequently delete. But it is not deleting the text as expected. What do I need to change?

It looks like you are doing all the keystrokes correctly. My only guess as to why it is not highlighting is that the keybd_event function does not support advanced key code commands. The function is outdated and has been superseded. See the follow MSDN link for more information: MSDN keybd_event.
There are probably some easier ways to accomplish your overall objective. What are you trying to do? Do you simply want to programmatically open a file?

I have changed my Iphone once last year. My iphone has being playing up for the best part of 6 months. It Keeps deleting all my music of the phone. it freezes and will not allow me to turn it on or off. if i am in the middle of an app it will randomly shut it down and turn the phone off totally (even if it is charged.) It will not charge properly, it has to be in a exact position to charge and even then go's off and on. I thought this my be my charger but the charger works fine on another phone. it will not allow texts to come through properly and sometimes will not not let me ring people it just freezes and i have to turn it off and on a couple of times in order for it to work. it will not let me update apps and the silent button is not silent it still go's of on ringer.The keyboard will freeze up not allowing me to type anything. It wants me to pay £126.44 for it to be repaire when i have nothing to do with why its not working!

What Windows users call a backspace key is the delete key on a Mac (specifically). Is there some major problem putting the cursor at the end of what you want to delete and then deleting it?

Hi all, I was tutoring a co-worker on the basics of LiveCycle Designer, and ran into a very odd problem. Neither the backspace nor the delete keys work in the application. In order to delete text or a cell, she had to resort to using "Cut."
Moreover, when she tried to create a drop-down list, she was not able to click the "+" sign in the object palette in order to add items to it...it was as if the button simply was not there. I've never seen this issue before. Anyone know what's going on and if there is a setting to fix this? I know the keyboard is not damaged because backspace and delete keys work fine in other applications.

It's quite possible. Closing the document and then re-opening it somehow magically reset the keys so that they work now. Thanks for the response, though!

Hope this doesn't show up twice, but it didn't post the first time.
Is there a way of deleting text forward on a mac? My typing has slowed way down because i have to scroll to the end of a word and then delete backwards. Thank you for your help.

fn+ backspace, make sure fn keys are enabled >> pref pane, keyboard and mouse, keyboard tab, last option use f1-f12 keys to....... check it.

Deleting Text from a Table

I want to know the shortcut for deleting text from a table on a macbook pro with the latest version of Microsoft Word. I want to keep the table and it's formatting but I want the current information deleted and don't want to have to do this cell by cell. I highlight all the text I want deleted and then.........???????

select the cells (or column) where you are entering the phone numbers and change the format to "Text":
Then "Natural" way to write numbers is to omit leading zeros.
Another ways is to leave the the cell format as "Automatic" and type a single quote BEFORE entering the phone number... like this:

Wireless Keyboard Issues - Backspace not behaving

this is driving me insane.
Ive spent hoours lookign for a solution and it's making it almost impossible to get on with any work.
Everything was fine, never had any problems.
then I changed the batteries on the keyboard. I think i went from one set of recharageables to another.
the biggest frustration is the behaviour of the backspace key, which does nopt backspace and delete as it should.
It now deletes to the left!
Also the arrows do not behave as they used to do and I'm unable to type a capital t.
I've tried everything, i.e. turnign it on and off, re-pairing, going through the keyboard settings, resoring everything to default etc etc
Keyboard operation reverts to normal operation if I turn it off and on , but only for a few minutes.
I thoughth it might be something to do with the rechargeable batteries, so replaced them with alkaline. - no effect.
HELP!!
the only clue that something might be wrong is, when Ive done some kind of keyboard key test where you are shown a layoput of the keyboard and it highlights the key you are pressing. he keyboard map shows the arrow on the backspace key to be facing in the opposite way to the way it actually is!
Also Ive noticed the bluetooth symbol at the top of the screen has the 3 dots horizontal - which i thought indicated low battery, but the battery is fine as Ive just replaced them.

I would be concerned too some of the keys on my keyboard were not working. I found an article that can assist with troubleshooting issues with the built in keyboard. I recommend following the steps under the section titled, "Some keys don't work as expected" in the following article:
