Keyboard shortcuts in SAP GUI Java on Mac OS X

Hi,
I'm running SAP GUI for Java 7.20 rev 2 on Mac OS X 10.6.3.
Everything is working fine, except for some keyboard shortcuts.
I'm used to the Ctrl-F1 and Ctrl-F2 shortcuts when working on ABAP code, but these shortcuts do not work. It seems like OS X is overriding them or something. The Ctrl-F3 or Shift-F1 and others are working fine though.
I've tried disabling all keyboard shortcuts in the OS X system settings, but that didn't solve the problem.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

In the meantime I've switched to working with Parallels running a copy of Windows 7 and the windows SAP GUI.
Parallels allows me to use Mac keyboard shortcuts (such as cmd-c cmd-v etc.) inside the virtual Windows system (mapped to their corresponding windows keyboard shortcuts).
You can also map your own shortcuts, so currently I've mapped cmd-f1,-f2 and-f3 to respectively ctrl-f1, -f2 and -f3 (for the ABAP workbench), which makes things feel more natural on my Mac when writing ABAP code.

SAP GUI Configuration for Mac OSX

Hi Everyone,
I work for the UW-Milwaukee University Alliance hosting center, and am having trouble trying to figure out how to create a server configuration file that can be easily distributed to all of our customers.
I'm not really sure what files are necessary for the SAP GUI application to load our specific settings. Obviously it has something to do with the "connections" file located at USER/LIBRARY/PREFERENCES/SAP.
When I enter all of the connections manually through the "expert" settings, the connections will show up and work, but when I go to close the program and open it again, they're all gone. The server list is still in the "connections" file though.
If anyone has some insight as to how this application works, configuration-wise, any help would be appreciated.

Let's separate the issues of creating appropriate configuration files and distributing the files to your Mac users.
With respect to distributing the files:
This is explained in the HTML documentation distributed with the JavaGui, in the "Installing Custom Templates" section of the Administration > Configuration Files page.
After you've created "connections" and "settings" files that you want to distribute, rename them to "connections.template" and "settings.template", respectively. Then use the command
"jar -cf ./templates.jar settings.template connections.template"
to make a "templates.jar" file containing them. Before the JavaGui is installed, put the "templates.jar" file in the same directory as the PlatinGUI-MacOSX-710rnumber.jar file. This will produce the "connections.template" and "settings.template" in the same directory as the JavaGui application, typically "/Applications/SAP Clients/SAPGUI 7.10revnumber".
When a user launches the JavaGui application, if he DOESN'T ALREADY HAVE "connections" and "settings" files in his <home-directory>/Library/Preferences/SAP directory, the "connections.template" and "settings.template" files will be copied to his <home-directory>/Library/Preferences/SAP directory with the names "connections" and "settings", respectively.
With respect to creating the "connections" and "settings" files, I'm not sure why what you are doing is not working.
Which version of the JavaGui are you using?
I assume that after configuring the connections, you clicked the "Save" button.
When you go to SAPGUI > Preferences > Configuration > SAP Logon is anything listed there?
As another approach, you might want to consider using central configuration files as shown in the HTML documentation Administration > Overview on Local/Central Files page.

Where are my saved Keyboards shortcuts in Illustrator CS6 on a Mac (Mountain Lion)?

I can't find my .kys file to backup?
Any ideas where I can find it in OSX Mountain Lion?

It's in your user folder/Lbrary/Preferences/Adobe Illustrator CS6
The library folder in the user folder is hidden on Mac OS. Search Google on how to show it and thank Apple for this great idea.

SAP GUI Java 7.10 rev 5: Copy cells content from ALV does not work (OSX)

Hi all,
I'm trying rev 5 for OSX. ALV aesthetics is really great but: copy cells content is not possible anymore.
Nothing happens with command+C.
I cannot copy anymore just a part of the cell content.
Trying all possible key combinations, something is copied with Ctrl+C. When I paste it, the pasted content is something like this:
(0100),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1) (0000012338),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1) (),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1) (),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1) (),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1) (),RID(),CID(),RIDN(0),E(true),RO(false),CTL(-1)
where "0000012338" is the content I wanted to copy.
Any suggestion?

No SAP GUI Java (for MAC) você pode criar a STRING de conexão direto. É a maneira mais fácil.
Se o SAP GUI Java já está instalado, siga os passos:
1) Abra o SAP GUI;
2) Clique em NEW e informe a DESCRIPTION;
3) Vá para aba ADVANCED e marque a opção EXPERT MODE;
4) Monte a STRING da seguinte maneira:
4.1) Se o servidor estiver usando Load Balancing a string ficará assim:
conn=/M/(IP_Address_Message_Server)/S/36(system_number)/G/(nama_group)
4.2) Se o servidor NÃO estiver usando Load Balancing a string ficará assim:
conn=/H/(IP_Address_server_SAP)/S/32(system_number)
5) Salve e tente conectar.
Por exemplo, no meu SAP GUI Java (MAC OS) minha string ficou assim:
conn=/H/10.777.10.777/S/3200
Minha release do SAP GUI é SAPGUI7.2rev4.

SAP GUI for JAVA - Search Help ALV display

I need to be able to display search helps in the ALV grid format or the ' Dialog Modal ' option as seen on the <b>Settings for all F4 helps</b> tab under the personalize option for search helps.
Currently when I am using a Macintosh machine the system ignores the system setting and my personal settings and displays all search results in an ABAP List format. Unfortunately the ABAP list format does not work correctly when used to input a field on another ABAP list report.
This behaviour can be found on the Mozilla Firefox browser when SAP GUI for HTML and the SAP GUI for JAVA.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your detailed explanation on how the ALV grid control is implemented for the SAP GUI for Java. This has been pretty insightful. The good news is that I finally figured out a solution to my problem. You see I inherited an old custom program where an ABAP list is used as an interactive data capture screen with input fields. Well a couple of fields had search helps. The program has worked fine with the regular SAP GUI until a MAC OS user tried to use it with the SAP GUI for Java. Whenever they selected a line from the search help it would bring back the entire onto their input screen.
A sample of the code:

The problem was being caused by the fact that the search help ABAP list was overriding the sy-XXXX values for the current line contents, index, pageno, cursor row for the calling ABAP list. So when a user selected a row from the search help this would now become the current context and be transferred back to the calling program.
The fix was pretty simple; all I had to do was save the current line context and the context prior to calling the search help. After the search help was run I would then replace the current line with the saved one in my local variable. I hope this makes sense. We now have a couple of happy MAC OS users.

Recently i was migrated to MAC Os from Windows.now i want to install SAP GUI on my Mac can any one please describe the installation process.
i am able to download SAPGUI720.jar and SAPGUI730.zip files when click on them it will popping a message that please look at the console for detailed errors.
Kindly anyone help me on this.
i am thinking that i downloaded a corrupted file any please give me link of SAPGUI (if possible .dmg) to install.

Hello Sathish,
SAP GUI for Java 7.30 is out of support from 31st of March 2015. SAP recommends to always use the latest available version of SAP GUI when installing new clients. Refer below link for more info.
So, I would suggest you to download 7.40. You could get that from the same link.

I'm wanting to temporarily turn off all my mac keyboard shortcuts

So I have an Wacom Intuos tablet and am trying to set one of the express keys to: command,shift,option,esc which automatically force quits the application you are in. However when I attempt to set this up in the tablet it automatically force quits the Intuos and I never get the keys to become an express key. So I'm thinking if I could temporarily turn of the keyboard shortcuts from taking effect on my mac I could then put the shortcut into my Intuos and then come back and turn keyboard shortcuts back on. Make sense? I'm not wanting to just put in the command Q option which asks if I'm sure, etc.

System Preferences/Keyboard/Shortcuts - to turn them all of, you will need to deselect them in all sources on the left hand side.

NEW SAP user on a MAC

Hi All,
OK help and advise needed. My office has agreed to purchase a Mac Book Pro for my useage but i need to find out how i can continue to use SAP on the system.
At present i use the following on a Windows XP system
Release: 620 final release
File version: 6206.6.44.965
Build: 641640
Patch level 44
I need to be able to log into SAP and use the same functions as present. can i do this on a Mac with 10.4.10 OSx or leopard?
What will i need to download in order to install SAP Gui on the MAC?
Sorry for a newbie question but our IT Admin has not looked into this before and i need to confirm if there is any problems and if there is I need to test VM windows with SAP running inside?

Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the previous page in a new tab that is right next to the current tab?

Let's say I'm currently on page X, and the previous page I came from was page Y. Is there a keyboard shortcut to open page Y in a new tab right next to the tab with page X?
Currently my only solution is to hold down cmd (for mac) and click the back arrow button, but again, I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut. I know CTRL + T opens up the same page in a tab right next to the current one, but I have to wait for it to load then press backspace to go back one page.

Why does Lightroom not have custom keyboard shortcuts?

Lightroom is a workflow app. It's not just about raw conversion, which could be done in ACR, but about speeding up the whole process of selecting, editing and cataloging photos.
It seems to me that out of all Adobe apps, Lightroom is the one which should have customisable keyboard shortcuts.
I've been using lightroom since shortly after it came put and I've been using the open-source plug-in keyboard customizer Paddy for several years which works okay at the moment. Each lightroom release breaks Paddy in some way and it's not as smooth as it could be if it was built in. Even so, I estimate I'm 2-10 time faster editing many photos with paddy than I would be without.
I know that even adobe's resources are limited, but adding keyboard shortcuts should be easy, certainly compared to re-verse engineering RAW file formats or fixing complex lens distortions!
At this point it seems clear that Adobe are choosing not to let us customise keyboard shortcuts. I'm not trying to change their mind, but I really want to know w

On Victoria Bampton's website she has a downloadable PDF file named "Adobe Lightroom 5 Windows Keyboard Shortcuts." (Windows, not sure about Mac). Its about 12 pages long. I assume that this is what you are looking for. www.lightroomqueen.com.

Create keyboard shortcuts

I'm trying to create a keyboard shortcut to advance through safari tabs, just like I advance through programs using command tab. I went to system preferences, keyboard shortcuts. The + is no longer there to add shortcuts. Is there a different way to add keyboard shortcuts in mountain lion?

If you have a trackpad or Magic Mouse, consider getting BetterTouchTool, which will give you the ability to create a ton of gestures, such as next tab in safari.
BetterTouchTool will also allow you to create hotkey keyboard shortcuts.

Altering a keyboard shortcut

When going to System Preferences, Keyboard, and then Shortcuts, the particular keyboard shortcut is not listed in order to be able to uncheck the box.

I attempted to get an answer for this in the basic 'desktop computer' section and got only one replay telling me to just go to preferences, keyboard shortcuts and uncheck the box for this shortcut. I replied that the default mac keyboard shortcuts doesn't have this particular shortcut listed to be able to uncheck the box so... This posting has been up for quite awhile with no replies. So could someone at least replay telling me it can't be done or something?

Please don't give up on me here. I'm wanting to execute what I guess is a "force quit" where immediately all windows in the app are closed without asking, "do you want to save, etc."
Per your suggestion I created a shortcut in my keyboard shortcut, applications menu. I simply named it, "force quit." It didn't work, so I next went to the application I had open at the time (Adobe Acrobat) to attempt to choose that shortcut and 'assign' as you said. However there is no "force quit" option. There's only a quit option.
Somehow I'm still not there. Yesterday a gentleman wanted me to show him something and I tend to have so many different applications open at once and had to sit there and hit cmd Q for each one and wait for each one to ask me if I wanted to do this or that and finally got through them all. I'm wanting to circumvent all that and mac automatically lets the cmd,opt, shift, esc. do this. But again, back to my original issue, I cannot place that shortcut into my Wacom tablet because it automatically force quits the Wacom.
Please stay with ole 'dumb dumb' here and help me. I know we're close.

Keyboard shortcut requests

It would be real nice if ID shipped with a custom set of keyboard shortcuts that could be used by Mac FrameMaker refugees like myself. I used FM for 15 years and I would like to retain its shortcuts as much as possible.
At the very least, **please** make it possible to add a shortcut for "Insert Cross-Reference"; right now (CS4) that command doesn't show up at all in the Shortcuts window (with Type Menu as the Product Area). Did someone just forget about it because it's a new feature?

A simple check of the shortcut command list with "Show Set" reveals this can be found in the Product area "Panel Menus". That's totally the same as the other options in all other panel menus, new or not.
