Killing X Disables my keyboard and monitors. But I can ssh in.
When using multiple monitors and open source drivers if I kill my X session using bspc quit (I am using bspwm) or just manually killing the pid's I am brought to a black screen, my monitors goto power saving mode, and my keyboard and mouse is disabled. Oddly I can ssh in.
1. this only occurs when using open source drivers
2. I have tried this with two different cards. A older nvidia card and a volcanic island series (new) radeon.
3. Does not occur with proprietary drivers
4. does not occur with a single monitor
5. occurs with 2+ monitors only. No problem with a single monitor only
Ideally I would use my newer radeon card as this is will allow me to use 3+ monitors and the older nvidia is limited to two.
Furthermore, I would also prefer to use the open-source drivers. They are not officially supporting the volcanic island cards yet, however, everything seemed stable with the exception of the killing the X session
here is a tail of the Xorg.0.log for the radeon card (don't have the nvidia log any longer, but the symptons were identical)

Shit, ConnorBeHan you're right. I'm looking at it now with a rested set of eyes. I guess I don't have the bad log around. I went with the catalyst drivers and was going to call it a day but remembered I was having the exact same problems with the open source nvidia drivers the other week on a much older card. I thought it was the same log due to the

this was also in the log, and I read it as essentially disabling my montiors and keyboards as you would expect on a shutdown. but that is where it ends.

I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can. From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance. The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs. Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA. I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000. Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected? I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are. I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4. Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch. -
I just got my Ipad and I can not download apps. I get a message saying my Apple ID has been disabled. I have reset my password, I can access itunes and icloud but still can not download apps. Can someone please tell me how to get my ID activated? TY
Depending on why it's been disabled you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
Or you might need to contact Apple : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page
If it then works on your computer's iTunes but not your phone/iPad then try logging out of your account on the phone/iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it -
Why is my Apple Wireless Keyboard connected and paired, but I can't type anything?

I’ve been using Apple Wireless Keyboard (A1314) for a year now. Yesterday it stopped working. I can see it’s connected and paired, but I can't type. I tried unparing and pairing it again and sometimes it helps - I have no idea why, but once in ten attempts it works. When it works, though, some strange happen - like my Mac increases it’s volume level like I hit F12 on the keyboard.
When I go to Bluetooth menu battery level is hardly ever shown up. Also, when my keyboard is connected it takes a few seconds to open forementioned bluetooth menu.
So, it there change I will be able to repair it? It’s not like it costs $5. :cHello:

I'm on 4.2.1 and keep getting timed out (err=.3259) when trying to download 4.3.3. I have tried disabling the firewall and antivirus but still no luck. Any ideas?
I had the same problem! I don't know what caused it, possibly slow Internet but I suppose my antivirus or other software could have affected it. Maybe it's an iTunes problem.
After restarting the download at least 5 times in iTunes after it timed out, I found this website. I didn't know this before, but you can download the update in your browser and then apply it to your iPhone in iTunes once it finishes. I used Firefox 4 and it downloaded without timing out once. All you have to do is hold down Shift and then click on Update in iTunes and it will prompt you to select the update that you downloaded and it will apply it.
Try this and let me know how it works! -

Be aware, if you want to set up RAID 1, you will need to have (at least temporarily) a keyboard, mouse and monitor directly attached to the monitor. You will also need some sort of DVD drive to boot the SL Server Install DVD.

TanksYou have to follow the process outlined here to recover contacts from an iCloud backup: Recovering deleted iCloud contacts from an iCloud backup.. Otherwise, as you have noticed, the recovered contacts are overwritten when your device reconnects to iCloud.

I know my Apple Id (it isn't ".mac") and password but I can't log on to ichat. I keep getting a message of password not matched. I saw somewhere that my Apple id is the same as my ichat account. At one time only Email IDs from Apple (when it was just @Mac.com) were referred to as "Apple IDs"
Other IDs such as to log in to Discussions were know as Discussion IDs
Things like the Online Store and iTunes and Apple realising that people would prefer one ID to have access to Everything tended to move things together.

I am unable to connect to my RackSpace Windows Server via ARD. I have added a computer entering the ip address, username, and password but I can't establish a connection. I am missing a setting or to step that is different in ARD?
ARD only works with Windows computers if the Windows computer is running VNC server software. Even then it can only control and observe. Do you have this installed?

When I did a Google search on "1416 error ipod 5th," there is some discussion that the earlier version of the logic board only accepted 30 and 60 GB drives (or words to that effect), but the later "5.5" version did allow larger capacity drives. If that info is true, the question is, do you have a compatible combination of logic board and hard drive?

My external drive won't mount. Disk Utility says it can't repair disk and to backup the disk and reformat, but how can I do that if it won't mount?

My add-ons still appear to be installed and working, but I can't install more, or uninstall, or configure them.
Try forcing Firefox to rebuild the list of installed add-ons.

# Close Firefox, then delete extensions.sqlite (you can also delete extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.rdf if they exist)
When you restart Firefox the list of installed add-ons should be rebuilt.
If that did not work, you may have an add-on that is causing the problem, try the options in the [[troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article.
If you type '''about:addons''' into the location bar does that bring up the list of add-ons? I have seen a blank add-ons list if Mr Tech Toolkit add-on is installed, accessing the add-ons manager by typing about:addons in the location bar is a workaround with that add-on installed. The author of that add-on is working on an update.
