Kin ONEm: uploading contacts from backup assistant?

back when the Kin was a full social networking phone with access to a "cloud", you could add all your contacts by exporting them into a spreadsheet from the backup assistant, and then use  your microsoft live account to get them into the phone (or somethign to that effect).  but now that the kin is just a feature phone, it appears you can't any more.
does anyone know how to upload contacts? I think now we have to do them all manually, which stinks. but I'd like to know if there is a way before I do all that work!

I've been using Bitpim with my Voyager since I bought the phone 21 months ago.  It works well.  I like it because I can backup my calendar, memos,  and photos as well as my contacts.  I never tried backup assistant so not sure it can backup up everything with it, or just the contacts.  I've been searching to see if there's any talk of an update with BitPim for the Kin yet but haven't found anything.  I have to wait till Jan 7th to buy the Kin TwoM when my renewal is due, so haven't been able to try Bitpim with the Kin yet, but I doubt it will work until they update Bitpim.   I don't think it's a big deal if I have to manually update my contacts on the Kin, but It's a bummer if I can't transfer all of my calendar info to the Kin since I use the Calendar CONSTANTLY.   It's not a deterrant for me not to get the Kin though, because I really want the WIFI with no dataplan.  I find I use my Itouch with WiFi (no 3G) often to get onto the internet.
I will try the Bitpim after going back home...hopefully it works...

  • How can I restore contacts from Backup Assistant

My contact list has been corrupted. I have been using Backup Assistant for some time and want to restore my contacts from a previous backup.
Verizon seems to have changed BA since the last time I used it and the only function seems to be to take my corrupted contact list from my phone and store it.  Any suggestions on recovering my non-corrupted contact list?

Here is a reply from a VW CS regarding the same question a few months back:
Click this link Backup Assistant (sign in) to check if contacts are available. You may sync directly from the site, by simply clicking sync on the right hand side (above contacts).
You may also try to sync by adding your G-mail account to the your device then go to Settings > Accounts & Sync > Ensure Sync is on for G-mail account. You may also select Auto-sync.

  • How do I restore phone contacts from Backup Assistant backups?

Something caused my contacts to revert to an older version.  I not able to find how to restore them from an earlier Backup Assistant backup.

I'm super sorry to hear about your contacts, dave658! I'm commited to doing all I can to ensure that you're able to restore your contacts. The best option would be to view your contacts online at vzw.com and follow the instructions below:
    1. Sign in to My Verizon.
    2. Locate the I Want To... section.
    3. Click More Actions.
    4. In the MESSAGING column, select Manage My Contacts. The Backup Assistant Plus: Contacts page displays.
    5. Click Sync to Phone. A confirmation message displays.
    6. Click OK.
Let me know if this helps. Have a great day! ^CM

  • How do you import contacts from Backup Assistant

Just got my son a Droid Turbo, found out it does not have Backup Assistant.  His old phone is bricked, how do we import contacts?

Called Vz (I am an employee, btw) and Joseph walked me through how to do it.  Go to Settings, Accounts, Cloud, check 'contacts', and backup now.
    Thank you Joseph!!!!

  • Sorting Contacts from Backup Assistant

I exported my Outlook contacts to a cvs file in Excel.  I deleted all of the unnecessary fields so that I basically had the following fields:  First Name / Last Name / Phone / Mobile / etc.
I imported the file to Backup Assistant and then synced it with my phone.  The contacts are now on my phone, but they are listed (sorted) by First Name.  How can I get my contacts listed on my phone by Last Name?

Some phones do sort by first name, and some give you the option of sorting by first or last. If you have a phone that sorts by first name, then you would have to switch and put the last name in the first name field to "trick" your phone into sorting the way you want.
I wish I had a better answer, but if the phone sorts by first name only, then you have to "force" a sort by playing by the phone's rules...

  • How do I sync my contacts from Backup Assistant to Cloud?

I have over 400 contacts stored in Backup Assistant. I bought a Galaxy S5 and you tell me that I can't sync my contacts, right? What? Is there a solution or am I just out of luck?

Do you still have your old phone? What kind of phone was/is the old one? If your old phone is an Android and you still have it turn it on. Hook up to WiFi, Go to your contacts and change them to google Contacts. Then go into your new phone and change it to Google Contacts as well.
Then when Google syncs all of your contacts back to your phone, kill the Verizon Cloud / Backup Assistant on your phone and back them up to the very simple and fast Google.  Backup Assistant is not worth the time and effort to get things half right and is probably one of the worst apps I have ever seen.

  • Synching up Contacts from Backup Assistant

How does this work?  My contacts are backed up.  I have replaced an older phone.  I have selected the contacts to be moved to the new phone, and clicked on SYNCH DEVICE.   I get a message saying the Synch contacts has been initiated, but I don't see any activity, nor changes to the Contacts List on the phone.   I don't want to be paying data charges for multiple clicks to Synch..............               Thanks

Update on my situation.  The store was not able to locate a USB cable which would work with the Motorola since the W755 model is 4 years old.  They did check to see if they even had the update software available once I came up with a cable.   And that was a NO also.  So, I returned home and hit the internet.  The supplier of the phone did not have the cables.  I did find an authorized Motorola dealer who does, and ordered it.  Also learned I can download the software directly from Motorola, so have the correct site bookmarked and ready for when the cable arrives.    Actually found quite a few resources for cable, CD software, memory SD, etc.
I'm usually a very good user of the internet to find odd-ball or out of date items, so this is a lesson to me to start looking around for solutions more quickly.
Lewisr13, thank you for your assistance!

  • I have not been able to retreive my contacts from Backup assistant plus or online at My verizon ..help

    ac

iCloud only syncs your iCloud calendars.  If the work calendar on you phone is an exchange calendar it won't sync with iCloud.  You would have to set up your exchange calendar on your iPads too in order to view it.
If you aren't trying to sync an exchange calendar, on your phone go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Calendar and be sure you have selected a calendar listed under your iCloud account as your default.  If not, make this change, then enter a new event on your phone and see if it syncs now.
If your settings are correct and it still doesn't sync, add any missing events from your phone to your iCloud calendar on icloud.com.  When your iCloud calendar is up to date, on your phone go to Settings>iCloud, turn Calendars to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted, after a minute or so, turn calendars back to On to sync back your iCloud calendar, then enter a new event on your phone and see if it syncs now.

  • Downloading contacts from Backup Assistant

I just got rid of a dumb phone and switched to this.  I backed up contacts before switched devices and asked for the contacts to be downloaded to the new device, but it didn't work right. How do I download contacts onto this phone now?

It's important that you get your contacts transferred to your phone, GretchieVL. For steps to transfer contacts, you can use this link and enter your old device and new device: http://vz.to/13JdAOg

Not sure. Haven't checked but maybe VZW will post another "Getting Ready" guide for the 4s like they did for the 4. You can also check the App store via iTunes to see if the current app works for the iPhone 4s. I personally didn't use backup assistant...I never liked how it worked  with my other devices (always mixed things up so contacts might have multiple listings instead of one and would place the mobile number as a home number and vice versa). iTunes syncing was quick and easy. I was coming from a BlackBerry when I got my iPhone though so I'm not sure if that's an option for the Voyager.
If you do some searching on the VZW site, or even Google, you can still find those getting ready guides. All the same info would apply, I'd think.
I know the info for the iPhone 4 is still available...but not sure if everything will be the same. Since iOS 5 will make it where you don't have to connect the iPhone to a computer at all there may be a way to do it without that step (which is necessary with iOS 4 if you want to use iTunes to sync contacts). You might be able to get your contacts on your computer from the Voyager and then sync them to the iPhone through the Cloud. Or...it might just be exactly the same as the current iPhone. That's why I was saying maybe they'll post another guide for the 4s. There might even be an owners manual PDF for the 4s already on the apple site. Not sure but if there is then some info would also be available there.

  • How to migrate Mail & Contacts from backup disk of old PPC iMac (10.3.9) to new iMac (10.8.1)?

How to migrate Mail & Contacts from backup disk of old PPC iMac (10.3.9) to new iMac (10.8.1)?
The Firewire disk is connected and have been able to copy across document folders etc, but Migration Assistant doesn't find the disk so that method no good.  Any help appreciated.

Thanks, that looks very comprehensive.  Wish I'd seen it before completing Set-Up Assistant initially!  Will follow his instructions and report back.

  • Stuck in a sync request from Backup Assistant

I just got an replacement Barrage and am working with Backup Assistant but it's stuck in a sync request that didn't work.
    Here's what has happened:
I backed up contacts to Backup Assistant from old phone. worked fine.
Looked at contacts on-line and they are all there and fine.
    Activated new phone.
I pressed Sync on the online contacts, no error.
I picked up my phone and I think hit a button right when the download started. seems like it stopped/cancelled it or something
The contacts weren't put on the phone.
When I hit Sync on the web page now I get this message:
"We're still working on your sync request. We'll be done in a moment. (39125)"
and have continued to get this for 2+hours with nothing happening with phone. Anyway to reset this and start the sync over?
    thanks

I would be glad to look into your backup assistant syncing error. Please on the phone go to menu>media center>browse and download> click on backup assistant and follow the prompts it should bring your contacts to your device. If you still experiencing errors please send me a PM and I would be glad to further troubleshoot and look at your account.
    Thank you

  • How to sync more than phone numbers from Backup Assistant to LG Octane?

On the LG Octane, I have been told that I can Import contacts from Outlook 2010.  Also I can edit and add contacts in Backup Assistant.  This I can do.  But when I sync the phone to Backup Assistant all that appears on the phone contacts list is the person's name and phone numbers.  The lines for address, email, etc are blank.  These items do not transfer from Backup Assistant.  What is wrong?

Backup Assistant supports most address book fields; however, there are some address book fields and settings that may not be accessible.
    Supported Fields
    Mobile 1
    Home
    Work
    Email 1
    Mobile 2
    Email 2
    Fax
    Unsupported Fields
    Groups/Category
    Ringtone
    Text Messaging Ringtone
    Picture ID
    Secret
    Speed Dial
    Voice Mail
Some information may  not sync to the device because there may not be a specific address book field for the contact information.
Sign in to the Back Up Assistant website and press the Sync button.
