Kinect Evolution - "No Sensor Detected"

Just downloaded the recently released Kinect Evolution app from the Windows Store. When I launch it, it tells me "No Sensor Detected". Any other Kinect 2 app (for instance, K2 Studio) works fine.
Yes, I am running the official 1409 SDK release.

Check the app permissions/privacy settings of you system. You may have allowed the app camera/microphone, but your PC Settings/Privacy/WebCam and/or Microphone setting may be off globally.
Windows store applications has policies on accessing the camera/microphone that desktop apps do not get exposed to.

  • Kinect for windows sensor does not start when using remote WMI

    Scenario:
I have written a software (lets call it kinectRecorder.exe) that uses "kinect for windows sensor" to record images. The machine that connects to the kinect sensor has windows 8.1 and kinect v2 installed. The software is able to successfully records
images from kinect sensor when running locally. (meaning if I hit f5 from vs2013, frames are recorded to local disk)
Due to resource constraint and other requirement, I have to remotely kickoff kinectRecorder.exe on the windows 8.1 machine from a windows 7 machine. on the windows 7 machine, I remotely kick off the kinectRecorder.exe using windows WMI infrastructure.
The credential used for windows 8.1 machine and windows 7 machine are the same under same windows domain. the credential used to authenticate in wmi is also the same, I can see the user name running kinectRecorder.exe after kinectrecorder.exe is started
    remotely.
    Problem:
The result is that kinectRecorder.exe starts ok, but after the kinectsensor.open call, isavailable property changed to false, meaning sensor not detected.
    Question:
What's stopping kinect sensor to be detected/opened (i'm not sure what the correct jargon is here)?
I have been search the web, In msdn documentation (known issues),  I cannot find the problem being mentioned. I wonder if I'm the only person who has encountered this issue before.
    Any pointer is hugely appreciated.

Kinect is not supported within the context of a service because of the underlying need for a user session, see
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/72cecf8b-ac64-47e2-b54b-ddbd1dc237c9/calling-kinect-sdk-apis-from-a-windows-service-is-not-possiblesupported?forum=kinectv2sdk
Can determine that the system has at least one logged in user and can you launch the application within that users session? KinectMontior/KinectService must be running for the runtime to get any data from the sensor. If you use Remote
Desktop to log into that user session, you can confirm this works by running any of the samples and they should work without issue(remember to ensure that your audio remoting is left on the server, see troubleshooting guide

  • Kinect v2 prototype sensor not working

I have a kinect v2 prototype sensor i brought online the one whit white black pattern. is this device not made for windows?
and windows adapter cable from microsoft
and buyed a new usb3.0 card from transcend PDU3
    i have windows 8.1 64bit
but the kinect just keeps disconnect and reconnect
and its still shows that my usb controller have unknown bandwidth.
i have tried whit my usb 3 on my motherboard before i got the new usb card.
this card should be supported right?
i have also radeon r9 280x gfx card new latest drivers.

Your issue sounds like a chipset compatibility problem. I'm not sure if the card you bought is supported.
We have a bunch of threads about that topic so please read them first. I'd start from this one:
Confirmed List of USB 3.0 PCI-e cards/Laptops/configurations which work for Kinect v2 (during preview)
    Hope this helps
the usb3 card is supported its in the list transcend PDU3
and my motherboard have both intel and renesas
    and my pcie have gen3
i can see that in usb monitoring program that kinect camera connected to usb2.0 high speed only but its in a 3.0 port in the pcie card.
in the verifier tool i see that kinect disconnecting and reconnecting and 2 seconds i get preview picture  than right after black screen again. and disconnecting.
i have also tried openkinect drivers same thing
no leds light in the front of the kinect it just blinks 1 sec then off when disconnect
    what should i try next?
i have now formated my pc and reinstalled win8.1 64 and now i get only 1 frame from the Kinect then i need disconnect in Kinect studio then reconnect to get 1 frame again. continue frames not working
and if i first start Kinect verifier tool then nothing works but if start pc and just start Kinect studio i get 1 frame again.
    whats wrong?

  • Sensors-detect changes monitor settings.

I was trying to get sensors working, so i ran the command $ sudo sensors-detect.  While it was running the "Safe" probes, my monitor flickered a few times and when it settled, the image was slightly off.  I'm not sure what exactly is wrong, but it's slightly fuzzier and slightly lighter.  when I run the command again, it seems to switch back and forth between two states, both of which are slightly different than it was before.  It happens during this probe:

  • Can Kinect be programmed to detect speed of movements, angle measurements etc?

Does anybody know if Kinect is programmable to be able to detect speeds of movement (eg how quick an arm swings) and other metrics such as the angle of certain body parts via skeletal trackeing. In summary, I'm trying to assess Kinect for my sports company
in using video analysis for Golf and what capability Kinect has in this field. Speed of swing, skeletal tracking and angle measuring are all important considerations.
Also, does anybody know of other similar projects in the sports analytics field.
    Many Thanks

    Hello,
What you described is very easy to implement. With just a few lines of code you can get the Skeleton frames (25 frames per second, featuring the coordinates of up to two users simultaneously).
You can have a look at the
    documentation.
    In
this post, you can find the code I usually use to set up the Kinect sensor in a WPF application.
As soon as you have the coordinates of the Joints, you can start to calculate their speeds. You'd just need to cache the previous coordinates..
Angles between Joints are just as easy. You can do it with Vector3D. For more complex calculations in 3D, you might want to take a look at TCD.Controls, TCD.Kinect (on NuGet).
I'm sure there are other applications of Kinect in the sports analytics - the only thing that may cause some trouble is when the Kinect can't track the user properly, especially if the user is in some weird conformation. With golf this should work just
    fine^

  • Kinect v2 body orientation detection in unity3d

how to detect and find the rotation angle if the skeleton tracked has turned 180 degrees to kinect inside unity3d ?

You can always calculate the plane generated by both shoulders since lock on will occur only when the person is always facing the sensor. The Z component of the orientation of the joint will also gives the normal/facing direction of those
joints. So if you track them over time and they approach the perpendicular angle to the sensor, you might want to provide a UI or some interrupt mechanism to ask that they face the sensor again to "recalibrate'

  • Two VI merging (a Temperature PID and Light sensor detecting) plz help

    Hi,
my goal is to get the data from the light sensing detectors and also to control the Temperature too.
So I designed a VI named Light detecting "sensor and data storage.vi" but the problem was temperature controlling.
as in this VI I can not set the temperature which I want.
So I made another VI named "temperature control PID.vi", and now I can control the temperature through the thermocouple.
But again the problem is that I can not run Both the VIs at the same time.
and when I try to run both the VIs at same time, the following error appears,
and I think, it is because that both the VIs has the settings for same thermocouple and can not acquire the data (teperature) at the same time.
So I want to remove the thermocouple settings from the "Light detecting sensor and data storage.vi" and want to put the " temperature control PID.vi" into it.
I am uploading both the VIs, If anyone can solve it, His work will be appreciated.
    Attachments:
Light detecting sensor and data storage.vi ‏190 KB
    temperature control PID.vi ‏140 KB

    Hi,
I mean to say that from the first VI, i m getting the signals from detectors and it also shows me the temperature. but from this VI, I can not set the temperature of the heater.
thats why I made another VI <the second one in attached files> by which I can control the temperature.
but both the VIs are not working simultaneously.
so plz delete the temperature settings from the first VI and put the second VI into it.
    thanks.

  • No sensor detected, battery is not low,not sleeping

sensor is linked but it's not able to detect it? tapped it...nothing

So the sensor had worked before it did this? or not?
If the sensor is linked then it should have been detected by the ipod with the sensor plugged in to the dock connector below.ARe you saying that the portion in the shoe is not being detected or the portion that connects to the ipod?
If its the sensor in the shoe then it might not be on. I know it took me a few tris before my ipod detected the shoe sensor. THe shoe sensor is tricky on determining if its on or off. Tapping it wont do you need to press the on/off button for a few seconds to turn it on. Nor does the shoe sensor go to sleep. If you keep it on even hen its not in use its on. How long have you had the sensor? Because it (battery) does have a limited run time.

  • How can I tell if there is a Kinect 2.0 sensor attached? C#

I know there were several ways to do this in the old SDKs, versions 1.5 - 1.8, but how can you do it in 2.0? I've searched through a tonne of forums to try to find this answer as well as combing through the Kinect 2.0 API. I don't want to have to resort
to going through System.Management to grab all devices connected to USB ports so if there is any light you can shine on this problem I would be very appreciative!

  • New Nike+ sensor detection problem

Bought my first Nike+ yesterday, did succeed to link the sensor. Did go for a walk to test it, didn’t get any contact. Of and on with the shoe tapping pressing the button and at last contact when holding the sensor in my hand moving it around, put it in the shoe start walking and it looked good but then it after a while the voice asked if I wanted to resume the training, did that a couple of times. Then I stopped the "training" and it had registered 10 meter.
Didn’t succeed to get more contact with the sensor.
Did go to the store today and got it replaced with a new kit. Tested it right away by plug in the receiver and move around the package with the sensor, linked the sensor and got one training activated. Then when home I got problem to connect the sensor, tried several times walking around then tapped and move around the sensor in my hand and got contact, even succeed to get contact with the sensor in the shoe.
I have a old Nano ver 1, the Nano battery is not new but it still hold for several hours music.
My suspicion is that it is old Nike+ kits, didn’t seems to be a big seller in the sports shop where I bought it. I'll guess these battery’s age and get weaker if they have been on the shelf in the store for a year or so.
As I understand it the low battery indicator is based on usage/training time, so if the battery is poor when you buy the sensor there will be no indication before it dies.
It had helped if one could get the date when the sensor was produced by the serial number.
I must say I’m disappointed so far to have to spend all this time trying to make it work.
And BTW why is the excellent stopwatch function with laps separated from the Nike+ thing, as I get it there is no lap function with Nike+.
Going out for a run now to see if it still works, knock on wood.

Well after some disconnecting and connecting of the receiver did I manage to get some action from the sensor, but then it died after 940 meter.
Nike+ have had it’s chance with me I give up and make a run for a refund.

  • Unable to detect a thermal sensor: lm_sensors and ACPI

HP Pavilion ze5600 laptop, latest Arch kernel, ran sensors-detect and this is the result:
    Sorry, no sensors were detected.
This is relatively common on laptops, where thermal management is
handled by ACPI rather than the OS.
I tried "sudo modprobe thermal" and although successful there is no thermal entry in /proc/acpi . I also tried adding "acpi_enforce_resources=lax" to kernel boot line without success. I also attempted to insert the i2c-dev module before running sensors-detect, without success.
As I have not tried any other OS on this laptop I am unsure whether it does actually have a sensor but googling around others seem to have been successful. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be most welcome.

I'd love to see this thread solved as my Dell XPS L1502 has the same situation. A sensors-detect brings the same module as you but the sensors outputs temperatures for just 2 cores for an i5 should be listed, which are about 50°C (normal?).

  • How can I get the rotation information of my wrists in Kinect for Windows v2 ?

    Hi,all
Assuming we make human wrist as the coordinate origin point of a three-dimensional space Cartesian coordinate, then when moving the wrist freely, what is the wrist rotation information in the coordinate system? Can kinect V2 describe it just like the degree
of roll, pitch and yaw in Face Basics demo given in the V2 SDK Browser?
Based on Kinect Studio 2.0 on 3D View model, it gives a vector arrow at each joint in real time, when I move, the direction of arrows changes correspondingly. So I think this may help me to get the information I want.
    Here are my questions:
    1. Could I use Kinect V2 SDK to detect and output this information directly? If not, any suggestion to use the data which SDK output to get rotation information?
    2. If the Q1 answer is yes, what is the accuracy of the sensor about the degree of roll, pitch and yaw on wrist?
    3. I have read Kinect V2 SDK documentation about the body class, the JointOrientations property description says that "the joint orientations of the body", what I want to know is the joint orientation based on
what frame of reference? The specific value of body.JointOrientations looks what kind of data?
Any advise or guidance would be greatly
    appreciated.

Thanks Carmine. It's really helps. But I still have some questions to ask.
As you said "a quaternion value, where the
Y component rotation is around the direction vector from the parent",and you also said "The
orientation value is ...not the rotation from the parent",my English is poor so I am a little bit confused.
About the accuracy, What is the level of accuracy under ideal conditions?
    And in what circumstance
that "value could be 180 rotated" thing could happen?
    Thank you for your time

  • Does Kinect for Windows V2 provide facial recognition API? Thanks

Does Kinect for Windows V2 provide facial recognition API? Thanks

For facial recognition with the Kinect, you can use the Developer Toolkit (v1.5.1). The API for the FaceTracking tools can be found
    here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj130970.aspx.

As mentioned in the article: Kinect for Windows:
    Frequently asked questions
Does Kinect for Windows SDK offer facial recognition capabilities?
Since version 1.5, the Kinect for Windows SDK and toolkit have supported real-time face tracking. Face tracking is not intended for facial recognition or identification. Face tracking detects and tracks the positions and orientations of faces in real time and
provides animated three-dimensional (3D) meshes that are positioned in 3D over the Kinect depth sensor data. Face tracking can animate, in real time, eyebrow positions and mouth shape, as well as provide a high-resolution 3D mesh of the face than can be animated.
With the SDK 2.0, Kinect can also track whether eyes are open or closed, the position of the nose, facial expressions, and the direction the face is pointing. The resolution of the tracked face has been increased by 20 times with a 1,360-point mesh, so that
faces look more realistic. Conventional face-recognition algorithms can be used with the Kinect for Windows sensor’s RGB stream; we continue to investigate how the Kinect for Windows sensor's extra capabilities can be used.

  • Hard drive upgrade on 13" MBP sudden motion sensor compatibility

    Hello,
I'm planning on upgrading the hard drive in my 13" MBP (aluminium unibody) and I've read a lot of posts regarding the sudden motion sensor conflicts with OS X 10.6.2. I'd like to know if the Western Digital 500GB Scorpio Blue here (http://www.dabs.com/products/western-digital-500gb-scorpio-blue-5400rpm-sata-300 -8mb-58P6.html) would suffer from the conflict (I'm not sure if "Shock Guard" = sudden motion sensor). I don't know if its a simple yes/no or whether its drive / mac specific.
If it would be a problem does anyone have a suggestion for a guaranteed compatible 500Gb hard drive (5400 rpm is fine)?
Any thoughts are much appreciated, thanks for your help!

Western Digital Lists their drive features as:
    * IntelliSeek™ - IntelliSeek technology calculates optimum seek speeds to lower power consumption, noise and vibration.
    * SecurePark™ - WD's SecurePark technology parks the recording heads off the disk surface during spin up, spin down and when the drive is off. This ensures the recording head never touches the disk surface resulting in improved long term reliability due to less head wear, and improved shock tolerance.
    * ShockGuard™ - WD's ShockGuard technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks during shipping and handling and in daily operation.
    * Free-fall Sensor - As an added layer of protection, if the drive (or the system it's in) is dropped while in use, WD's free-fall sensor detects that the drive is falling and, in less than 200 milliseconds, parks the head off the disks to help prevent damage and data loss.
    * WhisperDrive™ - WD's exclusive WhisperDrive technology combines state-of-the-art seeking algorithms that result in one of the quietest 2.5-inch drives on the market.
The Free Fall Sensor is the equivalent of the Sudden Motion Sensor. Looking at the specs for the drive you linked to... they list the following features:
    Shock Guard, WhisperDrive, SecurePark
As they do not list Free Fall Sensor, I'm guessing this model does not have one so it should not conflict with the internal Sudden Motion Sensor in your MacBook.
