Km2m Combo-L - powers up - but nothing on screen

My father has just bought a new MoBo. The system powers up - and you hear the ram counting up - but there is nothing on the screen and the keyboard is also not working (apart from the small flash in the lights when the computer is turned on).
We have remembered to connect the 12V 4-Pin too - and also checked with both connecting the monitor to the onboard-VGA and to a GeForce 4-card.
I list the components we've used - I susspect after reading some of the other postings here that the weakness might be the powersupply (eventhough its brandnew and 400W) - but since I cant seem to find any precise specs on this I prefer to ask before running to the stores buying and buying a new powersupply.
But please keep an open mind and come with any suggestions you think might help.
Mobo: MSI km2m Combo-L
Processor: AMD Duron 1000
Ram: 1 x 512MB SDRAM 133
HD: 1 IBM 60GB std.
VGA-card: GeForce 4 MX440
Powersupply:

See troubleshooter by Bas up above. That is, the troubleshooter is up above.
Another possible reason is IDE settings. The HDD should be on IDE slot 1 at the end of the cable. First time I suggest no other IDE devices.
Codegen, the PSU, was in another thread compared to the infamous Qtech, which must stand for questionable technology.

See Here for  >  Frozen or unresponsive iPhone
    Try this First...
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...

  • My g5 2ghz tower turns on but nothing on screen

my g5 2ghz tower turns on but nothing on screen. I've tried changing video card and still turns on but monitor is black saying that there's no signal.

Hmmm, assuming both video cards aren't bad, then it must be a logic board problem.
Does hold alt, option or shift key at bootup show anything?

  • Water splashed my iPod 4th generation an worked initially, but now when it is plugged in it sounds like it is powering up but nothing shows on screen, do I need a new LCD screen?

Some water got on my iPod touch 4th generation and when plugged into iTunes it is recognized but nothing shows up on the screen. Does this mean that I need to replace the LCD screen?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Hp 2000-de powers on but nothing happens

So I have a HP2000-2C25DX /Win8.1.  It is still under warranty according to HP checker thing, as I bought it July/2013 and it is now Jan/2014.  So anyway, last night  I was sitting with the laptop on my lap researching stocks  while watching Shark Tank on CNBC.  So I was sitting there, not even touching the laptop, suddenly, 'poof', screen goes blank (not black), power is on, screen is backlit, wifi is blue, power light is blue, but nothing on the screen.  Turn power off, turn power on, same thing, wifi on, power light on, screen on but blank, fan on,  cd drive spins, one beep and nothing.
So unplug again, take battery out, hold power button on for 15 secs to do hard reset.  Plug ac power back in, leave battery out, same thing, wifi light comes on, power light is blue, cd drive spins, one beep, then nothing.  Screen is backlit but absolutly nothing happens, can't boot to anything, not safe mode, not help, not nothing!!!!!!

    HELP!

    Hi
That seems like a potential video cable issue to me. The cable is generally routed via the left or right hinge dependent on model. As you mentioned the screen going blank when you pulled the screen forward then it points in that direction.
It's better to use the warranty now to get it fixed. The repair is not difficult but it is time consuming as you will need to strip down the laptop by removing the keyboard, touchpad/palmrest etc to allow access to the cable on the motherboard. Then you will need to gain access to the screen end by removing the bezel etc. I would definitely contact HP and get it booked in with one of their engineers.
    I hope that helps

  • GX 640 Notebook powers on, but nothing happens

Bought GX 640 about 4 years ago.  Computer ran fine up until today.  I leave my computer on all day every day without issue.
The computer is never moved- stays in one place all of the time as a desktop replacement.
Computer lights are on (harddrive activity indicator, num-lock, caps etc.) but only minor hard drive activity and then nothing.  Screen remains black.
I unplugged PC and took out battery- pressed power button for 30 seconds, put battery back in and plugged in and still the same thing.
    I am guessing video card.
How much would a new video card cost and would MSI do it?

Well when my video card on my GT70 blew (did this 2 times) my whole unit was dead as in no power light, hdd light, no boot, no go. Totally dead. Could you have a back light issue? You tried plugging the unit into external monitor, if you don't have one a HDMI tv will work.
I admit I know nothing about your model so symptoms may be different, you have a discrete video card in yours?

  • Mail appears open in dock but nothing on screen! Help!

I have this bizarre problem where i go to open my mail on my imac, i click the app in the dock, it bounces once, then the black arrow next to it appears. But nothing appears on screen. No windows, no error messages, nothing. But i do get the Mail bar at the top of the screen with 'File', 'Edit','View' etc etc.
This has never happened before. I have tried opening Mail from the App folder, restarted my computer 6 times, repaired disk permissions, but still no joy.
Anyone have any idea of what may be the problem may be, would be very much appreciated.
    Thankyou
    Matt

Ok try the "Rebuild" command under the "Mailbox" menu. Failing this it may be a good idea to backup your mailboxes, reinstall Mail from your system disk, update and re-import your mailboxes.
Let me know how it goes

  • Backlight on but nothing on screen!!

I clicked the menu button and the screen backlight turned on but nothing appears on it, it just stays on forever...! I tried the menu + select for 6 sec and the screen just dims out and then dims in again to stay on forever without anything ever appearing on it. Its draining the battery like nuts cause its hotter than my coffee machine!

Did I mention that it doesn't mount on my desktop? Since I dont have any interface with my Ipod through the computer, I can only mess with it manually by pressing its buttons.
The only commands I know of are the "menu + select for 6 sec" and the "menu + select for 6 sec then keep select pressed and press rewind button and keep pressed for a couple of seconds" and none of them work.
I just got it out of the service shop cause I drained the battery connecting it to my hub which isnt USB 2.0! Pretty stupid,I know...but then again I didnt receive any message saying it didnt have enough power to charge the thing, and since I'd be using it for over a week it seemed pretty strange.
Oh well...seems that something will have to be serviced again.

  • Mac G3 plays startup music but nothing on screen

    Hi,
Basically, my friend gave me this Mac G3 tower (Blue one) and showed me round his that it worked. When I got home and plugged it all in, I turned on the G3. It then played the start-up music but then displayed nothing on screen.
Does anyone know why this is happening? It works perfectly fine with my friends monitor.

    Hi Don,
I'm having a similar problem with a B&W 350 MHz (rev 1 I think). I get the start up tone and nothing appears on the monitor. Not sure if the machine is actually booting or not.
I am trying to repair this machine for a friend. They had been having a problem with the machine booting into a blue screen. I suspected a corrupt directory, so I ran Disk Utility (from another machine) and also Disk Warrior. Both Disk Utility's Disk Repair feature and Disk Warrior found problems. Disk Warrior was able to successfully rebuild the directory.
I had removed the hard drive from the machine and put it in an external casing in order to run Disk Repair and Disk Warrior. Upon putting the hard drive back into the B&W and booting the machine, I was able to successfully boot the machine into Tiger. I tested the machine for a few minutes and it seemed to work fine.
Next, I ran software update and installed a new version of Safari and then after the required re-boot, tried to repair disk permissions. During the repair of disk permissions, the machine froze up completely. The clock stopped ticking and there was no mouse or keyboard response. I tried using the re-boot button on the front of the machine, but the machine would not fully re-boot. I get a boot tone, but no video.
I tried re-setting the CUDA chip by pressing the re-set button on the logic board, but to no avail.
Finally, I did take the battery out and had it tested at Radio Shack. The battery is showing a good 3.6 volts.
I have a second B&W (300 MHz) that is basically doing the same thing. Do you know what could be causing the lack of video signal?
    Cheers,
    Thomas

Thinking its a mobo problem, what cha think?

Was trying to use the onboard vid but then went to agp ati 128 rage pro when it didnt post the first 5 times. Went back and forth with the agp and onboard.
Not sure why the this board wont boot it is the power supply. Why is this board so touchy when it comes to power supplies?
    12volt power connector is attached.
    I tried both fsb settings.
Wd is alone, tried booting with no jumpers, and with default (the way it came) hell i even tried booting with it disconnected.
I have read the first 7 pages of this forum and im pretty disappointed with this board already(im glad i didnt buy it) but i am detemined to help my friend out. I havent got to read the part about the cruical ram yet, i did see someone talk about it being crap, witch i totally dissagree with, and im not sure what is in his machine.
    Anything else i can try?

  • Cisco MCS 7825-H3 Powers On, But Nothing More

I have a pair of Cisco MCS 7825-H3 CallManagers, and due to repeated power issues on our campus today, both went down ungracefully went power was lost...and stayed down. So we have no functioning phones on site.
At this point, both MCS 7825-H3's will power on. The hard drives lights flash, then go out (like normal).e The fans spin up fast and loud. But I get nothing else. On the front of the device, the system health LED is solid green, the network LED flashes green with activity, and the hard drive activity LED is solid green. A connected VGA monitor displays nothing.
I am at a standstill...and am not sure if this is a hardware problem, a software problem, or another problem altogether. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you,
    Steve

Steve - if the servers are showing blank screen on monitor connected to console, it appears they are not even initialising the POST process. It could be due to a faulty component - could be CPU, RAM, motherboard..anything....
Generally with this kind of issues,  you try to isolate faulty hardware, by rebooting without any component and see if it reaches POST. I would suggest open a case with TAC and I hope the servers have active maintenance.
On another note try changing the monitor cable etc. to rule out any issue with any cable or monitor (which i doubt would be the case) just to make sure and then try a reboot and see if you see anything on screen.

  • Powers Up but nothing else!  HELP!

Hello, I am trying to fix my wife's 2003 PowerBook G4. It starts up, have the fan and drive noise but it just goes to the white/gray screen with the apple logo and the circle running below it. It won't leave this screen just keeps making the running noise. I tried to reset. Pretty sure I did it right, but still have the same problem.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
First, try booting while holding the SHIFT key. Keep holding until you get a message about "safe mode" or you get a normal desktop. This does some directory checking. If you get a desktop, don't try to use the computer as none of the extensions for special functions have loaded. Instead, restart normally and see if the desktop returns.
If that does not work, you need to insert the system CD/DVD, either the grey one that came with the computer or a Mac OS retailer install disk. If the computer boots, that indicates that the major hardware in reasonably good and the problem is more likely with some corruption on the hard drive.
If the computer boots from that system disk, it will present you with options to reinstall. Don't. Instead, look in the installer's menus for the option that lets you launch Disk Utility (DU) and run it. In DU, highlight the PowerMacs' hard drive and select "Repair Disk form the First Aid tab.
In the profile, the OS on the PowerBook is listed as "Other." If its not a MAc OS, what is it? The instructions I posted are for a computer running a version of Mac OSX.
