Konica Minolta 2590MF Scanner Mac Compatible Software?

I bought this nice, new printer/fax/scanner combo for $350, including shipping, and it really does print beautifully. I've even gotten the fax working to my satisfaction. The scanner is another matter. Vuescan and Silverfast(?) don't have this item on their supported list. I opened Image Capture on my iMac, and it even allows me to chose my printer's name, but it doesn't respond thereafter to any commands, and the scanner commands on it's board don't go past allowing me to choose Scan to PC, but then won't proceed when you hit the Select [the action to Scan to PC] command. I think it will give a high quality scan if it would work with my computer...
It's rather disingenuous of Konica Minolta to plaster Mac OSX pictures on their box and on all the advertising for this product, when only the printer portion of the multifunction machine is Mac-compatible. Their own booklets [the ones you see only after you buy the product and download them] indicate that you should take it upon yourself to go and find a Twain-based software that is compatible with their machine...what kind of manufacturer's advice is that?
I went to the SANE site, but they were so techie, I couldn't comprehend the lengthy instructions about what to definitely not to contact them about [under any circumstances]...I'm not completely new to this, but not a programmer, either... Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks for that. I am going to check it out.
After hours of fooling around with Image Capture and clicking options and restarting stuff, I am now successfully using Image Capture. The main item was choosing the scanner at a different level and clicking on a Twain option and a few other things I did to the scanner.
The scan quality for photos is astonishing for the money I paid for this machine. Image Capture has a lot of limitations, no doubt, but it works at a passable level, although I am definitely going to see if SANE will be better. We have a lot of old photos I want to digitize.
I really wanted this machine to work, so it's great to find a work-around (haven't we mac users always been about that?, and more than one.

  • Want to Buy Camcorder that has Mac Compatible Software

I am in the market for a Camcorder in the $300 - $400 price range. I would like to find one that has Mac compatible software. All the ones that I have checked on Amazon, etc. are only PC compatible.
Are there any Mac compatible Camcorders available in my price range?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Most consumer camcorders will work with iMovie, which comes preinstalled on your Mac. You don't need any special software to capture/ingest the footage.

  • Konica Minolta bizhub 223 not compatible with Mountain Lion?

I've downloaded the driver for the Konica Minolta bizhub 223 and POOF, upon the message box that says installation is complete, I cannot find the printer installed anywhere. The System Preferences are no help either because it does not detect the printer anywhere.
Yes, the printer is on, plugged into the network (all my other computers networked to it are printing fine, they are PC's however)
Yes, my MacBook is connected to the network
I just don't understand what I am doing wrong and why I cannot add it.
The weird thing, it was working fine this past Friday. Nothing has changed since then.
    Anyone with any thoughts?

    Hi Nachos,
First I installed the driver via the CD that came with the printer and upon "install completion", Nothing.
Then I installed the latest driver (for 10.6 or later OS) driver from the Konica Minolta website and Nothing.
I do not get Software Updates for this printer, I'm not sure why.
No, the printer does not show up in my list of Printers when I go into System Prefs ---> Print & Scan. It did 3 days ago, now nothing.
I'm thinking it doesn't like the Lion upgrade or the updates that have taken place since.... I need to get a new printer, I believe.
    Anyone else have thoughts?

  • Mac Compatible Software

Hi, I'm a new Mac user. Loved to watch movies online. Some websites req a QVOD Player (which is good, cos it allows you to d/l the movies onto the player & can watch it later). Since switching to the MacBook, I can no longer go to such websites cos it doesn't have a compatible player for Mac.
    Can anyone help?

It's interesting how big the disconnect is between China/SouthEastAsia and the rest of the world. I traveled to China for 5 weeks last year and was exposed to an entirely different world of computing. QQ dominates and things like QVOD are common. Most users run hacked up versions of Windows XP. A friend of mine from Hong Kong watches all her HK shows using QVOD, it looks like the file format is SMV which uses a bunch of jpeg files with buffer between them and audio overlay. Why something silly like a stream of raw JPEG files? It seems this is actually a common way to rip or pirate streaming TV. Many HK shows are streamed from TV websites, but for political and financial reasons, you have to have an HK IP address to access the websites. Or, for everyone else, you can precariously navigate the swamp of nasty websites with obnoxious flashing advertisements, some of which are blatant viruses or phishing tools. These sites link to the same videos but provide SMV format.
Getting QVOD to work is even a challenge for people from the area. Other southeast asian friends of mine have tried to get this mess working on Windows 7, Windows Vista and have trouble because of software incompatibility or language packs. The only working examples I have seen in person were Chinese language pirated Windows XP. This is very frustrating because I would love to upgrade my friend to mac OS X, or even Windows 7, or something other than XP!
QVOD is a great example of the other world of the internet. The vast majority, if not all the content, is mandarin or cantonese based. I really don't think there is a QVOD solution for mac, nor will there ever be. I think you best bet is to look for the same content via torrents, p2p and other methods. QVOD and SMV is really slick, and torrents are clumsy by comparison... but I just have not found any other options. I am seriously stumped, it's amazing to see the gap here, truly amazing.

  • Scanner driver for Konica Minolta 1690MF since new operating system Maverick

Scanner driver for Konica Minolta 1690MF will not work since new operating system Maverick.
Update driver came from konica minolta - not through an Apple software update.
Konica M 1690MF will print as normal but 'image capture' is empty.

Same problem. I emailed KM support. Was told new drivers were being considered. Not sure what that means. No date given. Have tried several 3rd party drivers, but none work. Would love for someone to post a solution.

  • Pc & mac compatible wireless ethernet lacie mini drive how to format?

ok, I have a ethernet drive connected to my wireless modem/router. My pc laptop sees it no problem, but my macbook pro won't. I know it's because the lacie drive is NTFS formatted, but I can't for the life of me work out how to reformat it to FAT32. Any ideas? Any lacie forums out there I can ask? Ta.

I have two ethernet drives connected to my router.
There isn't a hope of even communicating with them on the Mac because there's no Mac compatible software available to do it.
I've no intention of dabbling with them because I might lose the data. Time Capsule appears to be a solution to this one.

  • Printer driver konica minolta di1610

    Hi
I am installing a network printer, it is a konika minolta 1610, I can not find the driver for the printer
    can someone help me?
    Regards
    Miguel

    Miguel,
Assuming you have a di1610p, this is a PCL-based device. Leopard supposedly now supports PCL with a generic driver. You will not find a "Macintosh" driver on the Konica Minolta website because Mac is still considered to be a Postscript platform.
That said, the drivers that are available for your di1610 can be found at:

    Good luck,

  • I have a Konica Minolta DiMage Scan Dual IV scanner for use with 35mm slides. KM refers me to Sony.

I have not used my DiMage Scan Dual IV scanner since 2005. The KM web site tells me it has discontinued support for the unit but that Sony now does it. I am looking for an update to my software that will allow me to connect the unit to a Mac System 10.6.8, then a 10.7 iMac. Can you provide me with an updated program?

    Hi Guy,
    Welcome to Sony Community!
Sony is no longer supporting Konica Minolta products. However, as long as the camera body is Sony, the unit will be repaired by Sony for the following situations:
If you do not know whether the defect is of lens or body.
If you’re unable to detach the lens/accessory from the main body
    Units requiring repeat repair.
Additional information for this model will be available on Konica Minolta website:

  • Getting Konica Minolta Bizhub 350 Scanner to work using Parallels

    Hello All,
I have recently switched my office over to mac. We have a Konica Minolta Bizhub 350 printer, copier, scanner and fax. The software supplied by konica works great on mac, except for the IP scanner software which is windows only. We have installed the scanner software on windows/parallels and the settings for the scanner and scanner software have been made the same as they were with the windows software. The issue is this....the scanner recognizes the mac's IP address however when we scan something the PDF is never received by the mac. I think that this is some firewall issue with the mac and windows platform getting along but I can't figure out anything for sure. Any ideas are appreciated as Konica doesn't provide tech support for issues like this as they don't understand the parallels intricies.
    Thx, Bryan

Since Parallels is not an Apple product, you'll get better response if you use the Parallels forums <http://forums.parallels.com> rather than an Apple forum that focuses on compatibility between Macs and Windows
Be sure to search the forum first in case someone has already had a similar question answered. You'll get your answer faster this way. Post your question in the forum if you don't find anything that helps you.

  • HT3669 Hi I have a Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer. This works with my Windows-based Toshiba laptop but not with my i-Mac. Can someone please advise me how I get the printer to work with my i-Mac? I have installed it but documents don't print. Thanks

Hi I have a Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer. This works with my Windows-based Toshiba laptop but not with my i-Mac. I have the latest (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) OS-X software.
I have installed the printer using 'System Preferences' on my i-Mac and it appears on the list of available printers but documents that I create just don't print.
Can someone please advise me how I get the Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer to work with my i-Mac?
    Thanks, John Lee

Looking at the Konica web site for the PagePro 1300W, I saw the following note.
Please note: This printer is designed to be used in computer operating systems running MS Windows only. Operating systems such as UNIX, Macintosh, or Linux are not supported nor do we have workaround drivers available. Older MS Windows versions, such as Windows 3.1/95/98[pre-SE] and NT 3.51/4.0, are not supported.
So KM are not going to help you. But the LinuxFoundation does provide a workaround that should allow you to print. Have a look at this web page. You will need to install all three packages as per the instructions from that page.

  • I need a Mac compatible photo scanner

Does anyone know a good scanner that is Mac compatible that I can scan old photos and have them come out good so I can store them in IPhoto. I can't seem to find one that isn't for Windows or a PC. I would really like to preserve my old photos in my computer.

    Hi,
I just got the HP G4050 last week. It's scans Pics, 35mm slides and negatives. I have scanned 166 35mm slides and have imported them into iPhoto. So far It's words great. The only thing is that you need to download the MAC Leopard software from the HP site, and they don't tell you that in the instructions that come with the scanner.

  • Mac compatible scanner and ocr

I have a canoscan lide 35 scanner and it works fine, but I can't get image capture to play nice with it.
    Any fixes for image capture?
I have the drivers installed and it operated the scanner but Scan Gear doesn't work well to capture scans either. Does anyone know of any good software that would work with this hardware or is there any good Mac compatible flatbed scanner ?
I primarily scan text and would like good OCR software also. Any suggestions would be welcome.
    Regards

    Hiya,
I am using a Canon Lide 210 and have used Canon's own "Solutions EX" that should have been on the CD that came with your scanner. It works perfectly (I have just tried) and converts it into "text" or "pdf". With "text" you can work easily.
    Have you tried this?
NB: with any OCR, you will find, it's not faultless (close characters together are often "misspelt" as a different word, but textedit (where my OCR scans automatically open), highlights any typos errors in red underline.

  • Has anyone successfully set up scan to smb to mac os 10.7.x from a Konica Minolta bizhub

Has anyone successfully set up scan to smb to mac os 10.7.x from a Konica Minolta bizhub. I'm using 10.7.3 on MacBook Pro. Don't care what model bizhub is being used as I have access to many. I've seen the posts for FTP workarounds but want to use SMB if that is an option. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I've read other discussions that have suggested changing the format of the username and password when having login problems. I'm not familiar with NT-Status Codes. Could changing the format of the username make any difference? Something like... "workgroup/username" or "username@domain" or "domain/username" or some other combination of workgroup, domain, username, computername.
The issue has nothing to do with the format of the user authentication. What you are reading is about the Lion Mac connecting to a Windows computer that is part of domain or workgroup. The method changed slightly compared to Snow Leopard.
KM does support FTP so that is still an option, but I would ideally would like to set up SMB scanning. I'm not sure if KM is going to support AFP anytime soon.
With the lack of SMB support and KM offering no alternative at this stage then I suggest you look at using FTP. While Lion removed the option to enable FTP via the Sharing pane in System Preferences, it can still be enabled via Terminal using the following command
    sudo -s launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/ftp.plist
    You will be prompted to authenticate using your Mac's admin account & password. Once this is done, you can then configure the address on the copier to push scan using FTP. The keys are;
The host name requires just the IP address. No leading slashes like SMB
The path will be the folder that you want to scan to, also entered without a leading slash. For example, Desktop
The user name will be the short name of the account who's folder you want to scan to.
The only other option may be WebDAV if the KM supports it. We have this with our imageRUNNER ADVANCE and with a document scanned to a shared folder in the copier hard drive, we can then connect to that folder by using Finder's > Go > Connect to Server facility. You then just enter
    http://ipaddress/share
which connects you to the shared folder and lets you see the document you scanned. You also have the facility to set subfolders for security of users documents.

  • Has anyone successfully printed on Konica Minolta Magicolor 2530DL on Mac OS X 10.9

Has anyone successfully printed on the Konica Minolta Magicolor 2530DL after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.9?
Also has anyone successfully printed on the Epson EPL-5700i after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.9?

I realize that most people tend to visit the forums to report problems rather than visit the forums to report successes after an upgrade. And I appreciate John Blanchard1's taking the time to reply to my posting.
Dakoda mentions problems printing to a Konica Minolta C280 and the thread that John Blanchard1 posted refers to problems printing to both Konica Minolta BizHubs (C652 & 501).
However, the existence of these problems with other KM printer models does not let me know if anyone has been successful printing to the Konica Minolta Magicolor 2530DL after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.9 or even if anyone has had a problem with printing to the 2530DL after upgrading to 10.9.
On October 28, 2013, a Konica Minolta technical support agent told me -- after checking with his supervisor -- that regarding the Konica Minolta Magicolor 2530DL that they will not be upgrading the 2530DL printer driver. In fact they have not upgraded the driver since 10.6. I learned on their support site that the 10.6 driver has continued to work with 10.7 and 10.8. They have not yet updated their support site for compatibility of their line of printers with 10.9.
So I would like to find evidence that this printer has continued to work for someone after the upgrade to 10.9 rather than upgrade and then have to downgrade to still be able to use this printer.
