Korean Character Support

I've got several MP3s which have Korean names. The file names correctly display the korean letters, but when I load them in itunes, they appear as random garbage. If I modify the song entry and copy/paste the letters from the file name it has no issue displaying them properly. I've turned on extended text support services in windows. Anyone know what I need to do to get these to show up fine so I don't have to sit there manually changing song names every time?
[edit]Yes asian language support is installed, and so is the Korean IME.

Anyone know what I

Basically you need to have the ID3 tags of the songs converted to Unicode. See if this note helps:

  • Inserting Korean character

We have an oracle 10g DB on Sun Solaris with NLS_CHARACTERSET=KO16KSCCS and NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET=AL16UTF16.
I am connecting to this DB using SQLPLUS.
    Create table t1 (COL1 INTEGER, COL2 VARCHAR2(30));
    My questions are
    1.     How to insert values to this with KOREAN Character to COL2?
I should see the same character when I do the select after the insert.
    2.     How do I do this from Java program?

    Hi there!
WE8ISO8859P1 is a character set that is not Euro enabled.
(see Appendix A of the Oracle 8i National Language Support
    Guide for Euro-enabled character sets).
I see a couple of possible approaches to solving your
    problem:
1.) recreate the database with a unicode characterset.
2.) If 1 is not an option, try defining the column that
needs the Euro symbol inserted as NCHAR or NVARCHAR2
and define a (euro-enabled) national character set
    via an environment variable.
For further details pleas check the "Oracle 8i National Language
    Support Guide".
    Hope that helps.
    All the best

  • Korean Language Support Package required for Reader but not Acrobat?

One of our departments on campus has created a form that is causing some users to get a message prompting them to download the Korean Language Support Package in order to fill in the form fields.
When I originally tested this in Acrobat Pro 9 I didn't get any errors.  Another user also reported the issue recently (two this week).  So we tested it again, but this time used both Reader 9 and Reader X -- both programs were generating this message to download the language pack.  The form appears to be completely in English with no Korean characters.  It uses fairly standard fonts and I didn't see any embedding or encoding issues with the fonts.
Aside from having end users download a Korean Language Support Pack to view a PDF that doesn't seem to contain any Korean, are there any other options out there without recreating the form from scratch?  Here is a list of the fonts used in the PDF.  The only types of encoding are Ansi and Identity-H (which I expanded in the SS above), with the latter fonts being embedded within the PDF.
Any ideas?  The form is linked below.  Thanks in advance for your replies.
Here is a link to the PDF

    SOLVED
While our problems differ, my solution may still be relevant.
My culprit was a rogue font in an embedded Visio drawing. I identified and located the font using the "List text using non-embedded fonts" Preflight analysis in Acrobat 9.4 Pro. I checked the encoding of each non-embedded font and discovered that Arial Unicode MS used Korean font encoding (specifically, KSCms-UHC-H). See screenshot below. Doubleclicking on one of the font properties highlighted the offending text in the pdf.
I went to that location in the source file, which happened to be in the first embedded Visio drawing (shown above). I double clicked the drawing, selected all, and selected Arial font. Then I regenerated the pdf and viewed it in Reader X. The Korean language pack error message did not appear and all Visio drawings displayed normally.
I would recommend using the Acrobat preflight tools to locate text or objects with incorrect font encoding within your PDF or form, then surgically striking (or carpet bombing) the affected location(s) in the source files with embedded/supported fonts.
    Hope this helps.

  • Traditional character support --Locale

We need to have traditional character support(chinese, japanese etc) for our applications. The traditional text is available in the oracle database and is displayed correctly in toad but when we access it thru browser/stand alone java app, it is not shown. The language pack is installed correcly on the machine. What else is required to be done to show it? I dont think so any locale specific settings needs to be done in the application.

Can you post the code you use to retrieve the text from the db?

  • Music Player Character Support

On my N70, In my old firmware v3.... something when i went on music player it opened straight away and worked fine, now i have updated firmware v 5.0609.2.0.1, when i open music player, it firtly says opening, but then it says 'a processar' which i do not beleive to be english however my phones languge is set to english.

  • Non-ASCI character Support in OAM 11g

    Hi,
I have a requirement to test the user authentication with Oracle Access Manager 11g.
I am using Active Directory as the user repository and able to create a user with the user id containing non-ASCI value (say Äuser1) and AD allows for it creation and when i try to provide access to that user in the OAM''s application in the constraints tab, after selecting that user from repository and when I say Apply, I receive an error message saying that
"The policy store is not available; please see the log file for more details."
and in the weblogic server log, i can see an error with Error Code: 1461 with a description saying INSERT INTO JPS_ATTRS (JPS_ATTRS_ID, ATTRVAL, ATTRNAME, JPS_DN_ENTRYID) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?).
Can anybody know if there are constraints as such with respect to supporting on non-ASCI characters in OAM 11g?
    Thanks,

This type of question/discussion belongs in {forum:id=50} forum.
Very recently a thread there touched the topic of Turkish character support.
Please read it: Western European Characterset to Turkish in sql

Look at character names, such as "... letter s with cedilla".

  • Special character Support in IDM

We have enabled the special character support in IDM as per the SUN documentation and we are able to populate the special charactes using the IDM admin console also. But when we run a flat file adapter to process a flat file having special character it fails.
It simply displays the ? in place of special character.
Has anyone solved this problem. Any help would be appriciated.
    Thanks

    Got the solution.
We have to give the encoding in the Flat File adapter configuration.

  • Strange folder appearing, named with Korean character 삔

Quite often I have a folder turn up at the bottom of the list on my HD. It is labeled with a Korean character 삔 meaning "sprained" (as far as I can work out). There's never anything in the folder so I just trash it.
It's no big deal but it's a curious aberration.
    Anyone have the same issue?

I also have that folder. Every time I delete it, it appears several days later. What's going on? anyone could solve this problem?

  • Chinese character support for 6210 Nav

I brought my mobile in Australia which cannot support Chinese characters (Traditional). Is there any application i can install so that my mobile can support Chinese characters (Traditional)?
    Francis

easiest way to gain support for traditional chinese characters would be to take your phone to your local Nokia Care Centre and ask them to install additional languages and the character support that you require.
please throw some kudos our way, it would mean a lot to us
If you found this or someone's comments helpful or like what that person has to say, please give some Kudos to their post!

That's because there is no Greek spell checker in Lion yet.  You need to get the dictionary elsewhere:

  • Need a fast implement: Unicode character support

    Dear Primavera Developer Team,
We are in urgent need for a full range of Unicode character support in P6. Our customers in Vietnam really interested in P6 but problem remain when we want to input our language into the software. A strange thing is that with Primavera Contract Mangement we have no issue with those Unicode character but P6 both thick client and web app do not support so. It is a pain for us.
Hope you consider this as soon as possible :((

Offtopic, but did you know feh has a right click menu?  Rotation is in this menu.
Oh yes, I do know the right click. but I guess I never looked hard enough for the rotation as I do it very infrequently. Thanks for the tip.
How would I set feh, so that when I double click a image file, feh would start up and show that image? If I can get that (and I haven't tried that yet), I guess I can get rid of mirage then.
That's not an feh config, that's a config for whatever file manager you are using.  I'm not sure of the options you'd need to pass feh because I always run it on the command line.
