L2 protocol tunneling on EFP at me3600

Dear All
i have recently read about l2 protocol tunneling and seems very useful if it is configured with qinq altogether.
But if we use EFP at ME3600 with l2protocol  tunnel and also a customer VLAN X-qinq with l2protocol tunnel , will the  bpdu of customer interfere with ISP?
So in other words the diagram is as below:
Customer1–Switch A—Core Switches–ME3600(1) —L3—-ME3600 (2)–SwitchB—Customer1
On the port at Switch A facing customer the port is configured for qinq vlan X and also l2protocol tunnel enabled (stp, vpt, cdp)
Switch A port toward Core switches is configured as Trunk allowing the vlan X.
At ME3600 (facing Core switches) is configured service instance with  xconnect (IP of ME3600 -2) encapsulation default and also l2protocol  tunnel enabled.
Also the same thing at ME3600 at port facing the switch B is configured  service instance encapsulation default, xconnect ip of ME36001 and also  l2protocol tunnel enabled
Switch B port toward Customer is configured as qinq vlan x and also l2protocol tunnel enabled (stp, vtp, cdp)
So the question is, will the BPDU of Customer network (or VTP) will interfere with BPDU (or VTP of Core switches, switch A and SwitchB). How the packet from customer (qinq and l2pt enabled) will be handled at ME3600 with service instance (encapsulation default and l2 protocol tunnel enabled)
Sorry for my long long explanation.
Regards
mery

The xconnect on a service instance will suck up all VLANS  (encapsulation default syntax used) except your PDU's like BPDUS,CDP,  ect unless specified
Service instance encapsulation dot1q, is a match criteria only.  The rewrite funcion dictates what is done with the tag. If you leave it  off "rewrite ingress tag" then I believe the whole frame is  encapsulated. If it goes on, then if you are doing qinq, use rewrite  ingress tag pop 2, as you encapsulation will be matching 2 tags.
But you still have to add the keyword for encapsulating PDU's
One Way
service instance 100 ethernet
  encapsulation dot1q 100
  rewrite ingress tag pop 1 symmetric
  xconnect 1.1.1.1 12344321 encapsulation mpls
   mtu 1500
qinq
service instance 100 ethernet
  encapsulation dot1q 100 second-dot1q 200
  rewrite ingress tag pop 2 symmetric
  xconnect 1.1.1.1 12344321 encapsulation mpls
   mtu 1500
Is this what you was after?

  • LLDP (Layer 2 protocol) tunneling not working

    Hi,
    we are using a WS-C3750-48TS as a transparent switch for multiple separated networks. Now the switch shall also forward incoming LLDP frames to the appropriate egress ports. Therefore i have added the command "l2protocol-tunnel lldp" to each interface, where this feature is needed. So my configuration looks like (excerpt):
    spanning-tree mode pvst
    spanning-tree extend system-id
    no spanning-tree vlan 1,4051-4062
    vlan internal allocation policy ascending
    vlan 4051-4062
    interface FastEthernet1/0/1
     switchport access vlan 4051
     switchport mode dot1q-tunnel
     l2protocol-tunnel lldp
     no keepalive
     no cdp enable
    interface FastEthernet1/0/2
     switchport access vlan 4051
     switchport mode dot1q-tunnel
     l2protocol-tunnel lldp
     no keepalive
     no cdp enable
    I have tested this setup with SW version c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE8 and c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE9. The result was that no incoming LLDP frames have been counted by the switch (checked with "show l2protocol-tunnel") and also no LLDP frames have been forwarded. As a countercheck i have done the same procedure with STP (l2protocol-tunnel stp) and CDP (l2protocol-tunnel cdp), which was successful. So in principial the L2 tunneling is working but not for LLDP. Do i need to add something in addition in the configuration? Or is there a SW version which is known to work correctly? Or is this not fully implemented since LLDP tunneling is not explicitly mentioned in user manual?
    Best regards
    Benjamin

    Hi,
    You can check the cisco feature navigator to find with your requirement.
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/switches/catalyst-3750-series-switches/tsd-products-support-series-home.html?referring_site=bodynav
    I believe 12.2.55SE version of IOS supports that. But better if you could search in that tool and findout with the requirement,

    I think you must enable HTTP tunneling in WebLogic Server, Go to Administration Console at Environment > Servers > AdminServer > Protocols > HTTP and set Enable Tunneling= true.
    Alternatively you can change [http://localhost:7001] by [t3://localhost:7001] in Eclipse deployment tool.

  • Does UNI port drop tunneled L2 PDUs with dst MAC 01-00-0c-cd-cd-d0 ?

    Hi,
    Im trying to understand the correct behaviour for the UNI port and l2 tunelling on the ME3400E switch running as a layer2 device. No layer3/mpls on it.
    In the setup like below, ME3400E#1 UNI facing port G0/4 has 'dot1q and l2-protocol tunnel' enabled and therefore it changes the MAC address of L2 PDUs it receives from the C2900 to 01-00-0c-cd-cd-d0    It then forwards the packets to ME3400#2.  This in order to deliver STP and other L2 PDUs to another C2900 on the other end of the network.
    C2900------(802.1q trunk)------[UNI G0/4] ME3400E#1 [NNI]------[UNI G0/1] ME3400E#2
    ME3400E#1
    interface GigabitEthernet0/4
    switchport access vlan 35
    switchport mode dot1q-tunnel
    switchport port-security maximum 1000
    switchport port-security
    switchport port-security aging time 8
    switchport port-security violation shutdown vlan
    storm-control broadcast level bps 1m 800k
    storm-control action shutdown
    l2protocol-tunnel cdp
    l2protocol-tunnel lldp
    l2protocol-tunnel stp
    l2protocol-tunnel vtp
    ME3400E#2
    interface GigabitEthernet0/1
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 2,35
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport port-security maximum 1000
    switchport port-security
    switchport port-security aging time 8
    switchport port-security violation shutdown vlan
    storm-control broadcast level bps 1m 800k
    storm-control action shutdown
    The question is: should the UNI port of ME3400E#2 receiving traffic from ME3400E#1 drop or allow L2 PDUs with DST MAC 01-00-0c-cd-cd-d0 ?
    Im aware a UNI port will always drop L2 packets, but does it also drop L2 PDUs with the Cisco proprietary MAC 01-00-0c-cd-cd-d0 ?
    Tests I have done dont seem to be clear on this point. If we continue the network above by adding another C2900 at the other end in order for QinQ to provide L2 connectivity between both 2900s, traffic flows ok from one 2900 to the other but not STP, CDP, VTP.  L2 PDUs will flow and STP will work only when I change the ME3400E#2 UNI port to NNI.
    To make it confusing I have aother setup where ME3400E#2 UNI port as shown above is allowing L2 tunelled PDUs and layer2 connectivity including STP, CDP, VTP actually works between two C2900s.
    So I would like to understand which version is the correct behaviour and move from there as currently it is very confusing
    thanks
    Mark

    You are not alone with issues related to the e1000e (but all they concluded was that reloading the module makes it work again):
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=145564
    It seems like this is more your issue:
    http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux. … devel/8932
    But if none of those boot flags work for you, then there's not much you can do, and you'll have to write a script to reload the module each time after initial boot finishes I guess until the module gets fixed.
    Also, power management of the PCIe interface causes the e1000e to shut off after a while as well (lots of people on CentOS noticing this):
    http://serverfault.com/questions/226319 … ie-aspm-do
    So you can use that boot parameter to stop that from happening, if that becomes an issue for you as well.

  • Dot1q tunnel

    Hi guys.
    I'm trying to setup a dot1q tunnel on a 3560X, but the option does not seem available.
    SW02#conf t
    Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.
    SW02(config)#int gig 0/1
    SW02(config-if)#sw mode ?
      access   Set trunking mode to ACCESS unconditionally
      dynamic  Set trunking mode to dynamically negotiate access or trunk mode
      trunk    Set trunking mode to TRUNK unconditionally
    SW02(config-if)#sw mode
    I'm sure I have seen this command visible previously so it could be configuration or VTP related, but obviously am now doubting myself.
    For reference the IOS version is;
    c3560e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE5/c3560e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE5.bin
    Its not an advipservices feature is it?
    Thanks for your help.
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
    according to the Configuration Guide, 802.1Q protocol tunneling is not supported on switches running the LAN base feature set.
    Do you have at least an IP Base license activated (show license detail)?

  • Session migration and replication

    Hi All,
    I am having a hard time in configuring my application for HTTP session migration. Our weblogic server consists of two managed servers running in same cluster. Each server has an Ehcache that stores some information of user with key as session ID and value as info object. In case, if a server needs restart, we would want to take this updated info Object from cache residing on server being restarted to another managed server within the same cluster.
    I browsed through many documentations online. Most of them explained about session replication but not migration. so I followed replication (I don't want a real time sync up of HTTP session. I want it to migrate if something goes wrong with one of the managed server).
    However, I could not achieve this task after following the steps to configure this feature. I would appreciate a lot if someone can help me figuring out the issue here.
    Here is what I did.
    1) Weblogic.xml
         <session-descriptor>
    <persistent-store-type>replicated_if_clustered</persistent-store-type>
    </session-descriptor>
    2) An implementation class of HttpSessionActivationListener, HttpSessionListener, HttSessionAttributeListener:
    public void sessionDidActivate(HttpSessionEvent sessionEvent) {
    // NEVER GETS CALLED
    over here i would check if session has any attribute with name 'CACHE_ELEMENT'. If yes, then it is a migration case for current managed server
              Log.info(UserCacheMigrationListener.class, "inside sessionDidActivate");//
    public void sessionWillPassivate(HttpSessionEvent sessionEvent) {
    // NEVER GETS CALLED
    Over here I would set attribute 'CACHE_ELEMENT' so that it is available for target managed server when it's sessionDidActivate is called
              Log.info(UserCacheMigrationListener.class, "inside sessionWillPassivate");
    public void sessionCreated(HttpSessionEvent sessionEvent) {
    THIS GETS CALLED! and I set the following attribute
    sessionEvent.getHttpSession().setAttribute(UserCacheMigrationListener.class.getName(), this);
    public void sessionDestroyed(HttpSessionEvent arg0) {
    THIS GETS CALLED!
    public void valueBound(HttpSessionBindingEvent arg0) {
    THIS GETS CALLED! WHICH MEANS THAT I WAS ABLE TO setAttribute this class's instance in sessionCreatedMethod
    In the above code, the setAttribute method used inside the sessionCreated(..) method successfully sets the attribute to this session. This is apparent because valueBound(..) method is called when session is created. But why does it not call the sessionWillActivate method???
    3.) An entry in web.xml for this listener.
         <listener>
              <listener-class>com.xyz.UserCacheMigrationListener</listener-class>
         </listener>
    4) from weblogic config.xml. I am copying all meaning stuffs from config.xml to describe as much as I can.

    Hi Wenhao,
    I did face something similar ....but when i tried it again...it worked..
    In case it does not then before u try to start the procedure to dwnld the Enterprise service wsdl....
    uncheck the wsdl validator check box in NWDS...
    I suggest u first try to consume the wsdl by importing it locally...
    just follow this blog by Boris step by step..
    /people/boris.mohr/blog/2007/01/23/how-to-guide-for-consuming-a-web-service-with-a-standalone-client-using-sap-netweaver-application-server-javatm-ee-5-edition
    Once u r able to do this..then u can try to consume it from service registry

  • Weblogic 10.0 JSF Libaries

    Hi i want to deploy the Jsf libaries like jsf-api.jar and so on.
    I found the following command on the weblogic documentation.
    java -classpath /opt/bea/wlserver_10.0/server/lib/weblogic.jar weblogic.Deployer -adminurl http://localhost:7001 -deploy -library /opt/bea/wlserver_10.0/common/deployable-libraries/jsf-api.jar
    I think this command should work but when i didn't.
    I receive the following error page.:
    tboss@Carey:~$ java -classpath /opt/bea/wlserver_10.0/server/lib/weblogic.jar weblogic.Deployer -adminurl http://localhost:7001 -deploy -library /opt/bea/wlserver_10.0/common/deployable-libraries/jsf-api.jar

    I had similar issue, i have enabled http tunnel and it worked. Please let me know if you fix it with any other option.

  • Weblogic deployer doesn't work under 9.2, driving me nutso! =P

    I've tried everything trying to get the deploy/undeployer to work (tried http, t3 etc.)
    Example ant task:
         <target name="undeploy">
              <path id="xdoclet.lib.path">
              <fileset dir="${weblogic.lib.dir}">
              <include name="*.jar"/>
              </fileset>
              </path>
              <java classname="weblogic.Deployer" fork="true" maxmemory="256m" failonerror="true" classpathref="xdoclet.lib.path">
         <arg line="-adminurl http://localhost:7001"/>
         <arg line="-username weblogic"/>
         <arg line="-password express1"/>
         <arg line="-name t1scp3"/>
                   <arg value="-undeploy"/>
                   <arg value="-debug"/>
              </java>
         </target>
    I've also tried using the ant task that comes with weblogic, but I always get this error! (I can ping the server using the ping class)
    Any ideas? (Stack trace below)

  • Maven scripts for deploying WAR into Weblogic

    Hello Folks,
    I would need some help in deploying EAR/WAR into weblogic server.
    I already have maven scripts for building but not for deploying. your help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Ank2cool,
    Please see my findings, I have tested the Same "build.xml" again...My AdminServer
    UserName is weblogic
    and
    password is weblogic
    <project name="webservices-hello_world" default="deploy">
    <property name="wls.username" value="weblogic" />
    <property name="wls.password" value="weblogic" />
    <property name="wls.hostname" value="localhost" />
    <property name="wls.port" value="7001" />
    <property name="wls.server.name" value="AdminServer" />

    password="${wls.password}1" verbose="true" adminurl="t3://${wls.hostname}:${wls.port}" targets="${wls.server.name}" />
    </target>
    </project>
    Now when i run the AANT task ant deploy

    Hi Richard,
    I had the same issue using Eclipse. I just tried to run the
    ant script outside of Eclipse and it worked fine.
    This is an Eclipse-Ant Class Loader issue.
    In order to make it work in Eclipse, You have to :
    1. Open the External Tool Run Configuration.
    2. Select your Ant script.
    3. Select JRE Tab.
    4. In Runtime JRE section, choose Seperate JRE.
    Hope this helps !

  • OSB jms clustering - load balancing seems to be not working

    Hi All,
    I have one admin server and two managed servers running ( one of these managed server is running in the remote linux machine) in a cluster
    I have connectionfactory created with load balance enabled with round robin
    and server affinity is disabled
    I have queue created as uniformly distributed Q
    I have a proxy service with load balancing as roundrobin and endpoint URL as below
    jms://rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703/synergyConnectionFactory1/MM_gridQ0
    If I execute this proxy sending messages it always go to one server only. There is no message going to the other server.
    If I shutdown the server that receives messages then the other server is receiving messages. Seems like fail-over is working but not the load-balancing
    There is one point may be worth mentioning here is, from the admin console if I look at the servers for the clusters it has below information
    Name      State      Drop-out Frequency      Remote Groups Discovered      Local Group Leader      Total Groups      Discovered Group Leaders      Groups      Primary
    synergyOSBServer1     RUNNING     Never     0     synergyOSBServer1     1     synergyOSBServer1     *{synergyOSBServer1}*     0
    synergyOSBServer2     RUNNING     Never     0     synergyOSBServer1     1     synergyOSBServer1     *{synergyOSBServer1, synergyOSBServer2}* 0
    one server has groups as {synergYOSBServer1} instead of {synergyOSBServer1, synergyOSBServer2}. Does that look correct?

    I am not getting you here "the right approach is to make OSB run on the man server cluster and not on admin server. "
    I have a jms proxy service that I created from admin console
    And also I have gone thru the step 5 in the link below
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13159_01/osb/docs10gr3/deploy/config.html#wp1524235
    If I am not wrong, the proxy service endpoint URI determines where it is pointing to. If it is a cluster environment, it should point to a clustered address
    My proxy has below endpoint URI
    jms://rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703/synergyConnectionFactory1/MM_gridQ0
    and rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703 is my cluster address
    As per your suggestion "To fix your problem, *make osb to run on the cluster* and specify the same URL for the jms proxy service"
    Could you please provide some instruction how would I "make osb jms proxy service to run in a cluster"
    As a note, I have Q defined as a distributed Q and connection factory targets to the cluster. UDQ also targtes to the cluster.
    Just for a testing I have created another manged server running local to the machine where my admin server is running
    And I created a proxy by following steps as I mentioned above and with endpoint URI as below
    jms://rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703,*rdoelapp001011:61700*/synergyConnectionFactory1/MM_gridQ0
    where the new address of my cluster is rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703,rdoelapp001011:61700
    It did create consumers in both the managed servers in the cluster that are running locally, but no consumers in the remote managed server.
    So I am kind of leaning towards thinking that there is some incorrect setup for the remote managed server and may be admin server is not able to communicate to the remote server for some reason but not sure about it..
    As a note the cluster is setup to communicate using "unicast" channel
    and I created a channel in each manged server with the same name
    here is the cluster configuration
    <name>synergyCluster1</name>
    <cluster-address>rdoelapp001011:61703,rdoelapp001013:61703,rdoelapp001011:61700</cluster-address>
    <default-load-algorithm>round-robin</default-load-algorithm>

    Looks like the protocol is not correct (Unable to connect to 'http://localhost:7001': Destination unreachable)
    Could you try the t3 protocol, for example,
    java weblogic.Deployer -adminurl t3://localhost:7001 -username weblogic -password welcome1 -listapps
