Labeling current controlled voltage source/finding currents

Im studying Thevinen Equivelent circuits,and just got introduced into Multisim.The book briefly tells us how to find currents for components such as resistors by adding a DC Source w/ 0Volts.But when trying to add the dependent current controlled voltage source I dont know what to type in to show its relationship to the current called "Io".Im and ultimatly trying to find the Thev. Equiv. circuit with Voc and Isc.Any help would be great.

Hi there,
Instead of using the current controlled voltage source, we can place an ABM(Analog Behavior Model) source in Multisim.
After you place the ABM source, double-click it. In the ABM source dialog box, select the value tab. In this value field you can define a mathematical or codniton statement that will act as a stimulus in your circuit.
In this case, let's type: 5*(V(1)-V(0))/2
Here V(1) and V(0) are the net name using the syntax V(<net name>)

Current controlled voltage source trouble

Hello, I've searched around and can't find anything that explains why I'm getting errors when trying to simulate this circuit. I would apppreciate any help. I need the votage source on the right to be controlled by the current going through R4, specifically 150 * I(R4). I can't seem to get it to work. Thanks for your time.

Error: Unable to find sources for current Linux Kernel

Hi Guys,
Hit a bump !!!!
Oracle Linux x86-64 installed successfully via Oracle VM box.
Clicked on 'Install Guest Additions'.
Ran VboxLinuxAdditions.run to install the Guest machine on Linux. It Failed and in error log (/var/log/vboxinstall.log) got the below error:-
Error: Unable to find sources for current Linux Kernel. Specify KERN_DIR=<directory> and run again
Looking upto Google i found I need to update Linux headers , in doing so get +'bash: apt-get : command not found'+ which I am not able to understand.
Any assistance is appreciated.

HI, I'd like to export in Vout the voltage Vin using an ABM voltage source (see the picture below).
I don't want to use a nonlinear dependant source because I'm working with voltages of about 1 pV and nonlinear dependant sources degrade the results because of their input impedances (1 GOhms).

to reference voltages using the ABM sources, use the V(nodename) syntax.
So in your case, assuming the nodes on the left are IO1 and IO2, the expression would be "V(IO1)-V(IO2)", without the quotes

Measure current and voltage in Elvis and labview

Hi! We're setting up a control system setup for class where we need to monitor the current and voltage that we are supplying/drawing from the ELVIS hardware within a LABVIEW setup. So far, we can accurately display voltage input and outputs from the AI and DAO terminals respectively. However, we can't seem to find a direct way measure current draw. I believe that we are supposed to be able to get DMM readings from the AI5 channel, but either we're not doing it correctly, or we still need to place a known resistance across it (which we cannot do, due to variable loads). Any advise please?

Are you using Elvis I or II? From your post, I will assume it is Elvis I but please correct me if this is not the case. Page 38 of the manual shows that ACH5 is used for capacitor or diode measurements for the DMM. To measure current, use the connectors on the front of the Elvis unit and then route the current HI/LO on the protoboard to either the oscilloscope or an analog input channel. You can use the DMM Soft Front Panel to monitor current as well.

Need recommendations for hardware and software - Current control

Hi all,
I am doing a project related to current control.
The purpose is to keep the current at constant. So I measure the current and get the value; and send a analog signal to tell our machine to discharge or to charge in order to keep the current at constant. I need to write the program to give analog signal to machine based on the current input.
Also, the machine can communicate with user. User can monitor the machine operation statuse and current level, etc.
I want to use LabView to program, since it doesn't cost a lot of time. I saw there is LabView RT LabView FPGA, etc. I am confused whether all of these are just diffrent function for LabView or different software. Which one I should use?
For hardware, I have no idea what is compactible with LabVeiw. What I should use?
I am totally new to this. I'll appreciate a lot if anyone can give suggestions.

Depending on your budget, operating constraints, timeframe and the transducers you're using a wide variety of equipment might suit your needs. I'd suggest calling the sales department. From NI.com, follow the Contact NI link in the top right corner of the screen. From there you can find information about getting in contact with sales. They help spec out systems all the time.

[BASIC question] what is the component I should use to fix an AC voltage and its current (in the same component)

I need urgently to know how use a component which allows me to fix an AC voltage and its current.
I can't use a resistance and an AC current in parallele for my application..

In general the way to fix both voltage and current requires a source and an impedance, but you say you do not want that solution.
Please tell us exactly what your application is and why a current source in parallel with a resistance is unacceptable.

Tested on the following steps:
1.       Start an elevated command prompt,and run wbemtest.exe
2.       Click Connect, and specify the path: root\ccm\SoftMgmtAgent and connect
3.       Select Query, and type select * from DownloadContentRequestEx2
4.        Select query, and select * from downloadinfoex2
5.       Delete each instance that returned by the query.
6.       Restart SMS Agent Host service, and check to confirm the instances didn’t come back.
7.       Trigger Software update evaluation cycle and try to install update again
Didn't managed to execute step[5] as there is nothing for me to delete. Once I ran through the above steps, I noticed the following error in ScanAgent.log file. Also, I found some error in ClientIDManagerStartup.log. Can anyone tell me what is wrong

You can edit the label of the x axis to say anything you want. The string "time" is only the default label. If the X values are equally spaced, all you need is define x0 and dx for a plain waveform graph. If the x values are not equally spaced, you need an xy graph.
You really need to be a bit more clear explaining what you want. Attach your code and some typical data. Show us what you get and explain what you want instead.
All this is well defined. No guessing needed (especially if your guess is wrong!).

Offset problem in simulating current and voltage phase relation of parallel rlc circuit, Is it a bug ?

tested multisim for Parallel RLC Circuit with voltage source as in

But the current flows through the inductance L has DC component as in the picture attached (the red sine wave). Is it a bug ?, please tell me how to correct it.

As strange as this may sound, this is not a bug. OK, this sounds really funny, but I am totally serious, and I am going to explain why:
In a circuit energy must be conserved.
An inductor is a purely reactive component, that is, it does not dissipate any power.
When simulation starts, Multisim assumes the inductor current to be 0, which may seem reasonable. The voltage across the inductor is also 0 at this point. This is the initial condition.
The voltage across the inductor increases, and thus, the current increases. The current keeps increasing during the first 2 quadrants of the sinusoidal phase output.
The current never decreases until the voltage drop is negative.
But by the time an entire cycle is over, the current is back to 0. This makes sense as energy is conserved and the inductor is not absorbing any energy.
OK. Now look at what happened. During the whole cycle, the current was positive only! The current increased during the first half of the cycle and returned to 0 during the second half. This is because of the fluke of initial conditions! In fact, a good circuit simulator will maintain the DC offset for a long duration. The DC offset may drift because of rounding errors and the like.
This will never be observed in real life as real inductors have winding resistance and other problems.
OK, so, if you would like to see no DC offset, do the following:
Run your simulation
Record the DC offset that you want to eliminate
Stop your simulation
Double click the offending inductor in the Multisim schematic
Click on the Value tab
Check the Initial conditions box under Additional SPICE simulation parameters
Enter the negative of the DC offset that you recorded in step 2 into the box right next to it
Start your simulation. Did your offset go away? Or did it double?
If your offset doubled, take away the sign from the DC offset that you entered in step 7. I bet you know why.

Lambda power supply+labview+current control

Hi there,
I want to control the output current from TDK lambda power supply based on input from a pressure sensor. Based on available drivers from Lambda site, I was only able to output certain current and voltage value. But don't know how to control it depending on other input like pressure reading.
Is there any way to do this in labview?

Unfortunately I don't have drivers for either of 'Pfeiffer vacuum gauge controller' and 'TDK lambda power supply'...!!
But went through your code, and it looks like you're reading from both the instruments... but you should be reading only from 'Pfeiffer vacuum gauge controller' and should be writing (current or voltage or both values) to 'TDK lambda power supply'...!!
Now before you write the new (current or voltage or both) value(s)... you can place a simple algorithm that will calculate new value (based on reading from 'Pfeiffer vacuum gauge controller')....!!

If you open the Maps app where does that say you are located?
For location the iPod uses the location of nearby routers that are in Apple's database of routers and their location. Thus it appears that Apple's database is incorrect. You do not have to be connected to the router, just within range.
Apple periodically updates their database based on information they obtain from iPhones, The iPhone has to have turned on the option to send info to Apple. no one has found another way to get the location of a router added/corrected.
You can confirm that by going to well-know place with wifi like Starbucks or McDonalds
