I am trying to compile my FPGA code which has previously compiled. I get this error.
"Labview FPGA called another software component, and that component returned the following error:
Error Code: -52009
NI Platform Services: The requested resource has been marked for deletion and is rejecting new requests."
What is this error code?

I've been looking in to this for you today - unfortunately, that seems to be a really rare error code which doesn't come up very often on our systems, so there's no quick fix that I can find.
A couple of options:
1) Have you made any changes to the code recently, in terms of updating it from an earlier version of LabVIEW? If so, it may be worth mass compiling your project up to the latest version in case there are references to software components which no longer exist.
2) It's probably worth a try repairing your LabVIEW, FPGA and RIO drivers installations from disk, as described here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/FE6B641E86E55AF2862576DE00038001?OpenDocument
This could be due to some kind of missing or corrupted component in, for example, the Xilinx Tools
3) Are you referencing any kind of external software, such as DLLs or third party instruments, in your file?
4) What hardware are you using?

Hi,
In thise case your SC2 Software Component is dependent on SC1.
Go to the SLD, go to the software component SC2 and you will have an option Dependency and as shown in michal's blog make this SC2 dependent on SC1.
Next, reimport your Software Components SC1 and SC2 in your IR . The old objects will contnue to exists but still clear the SLD cache, and reimport the SC1 and SC2 from the SLD.
Now in SC2 you will see a new option called BASIS objects under which you can see the message interfaces of SC1.

LabVIEW FPGA: An internal software error in the LabVIEW FPGA Module has occurred

Hi,
I am trying to build a LabView FPGA VI. During compilation, I always get error stating "LabVIEW FPGA: An internal software error in the LabVIEW FPGA Module has occurred. Please contact National Instruments technical support at ni.com/support". At the time, comiplation process is almost at the end. "Final Timing (place and route)" shows as completed. When Checked the Xilinx log session, at the end it states that " Process "Generate Programming File" completed successfully". However, I do not see any generated bitfile.
When clicked on error details, it shows following:
LabVIEW: An unknown error occurred.
Error -2629 occurred at Error occurred while loading XML string. Invoke Node in niFpgaXml_PrettyPrint.vi->niFpgaWriteBitfileXml_Core.vi->niFpgaCompileWorker_CreateBitfile.vi->niFpgaCompileWorker_JobComplete.vi->niFpgaCompile_Worker.vi:6460001
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: An unknown error occurred.
I tried multiple times but so far no luck to generate bitfile for this VI. What could be wrong here?

Not sure on how to copy a DC but you can move custom developed SC from One track to another.

Can LabView start/call another program such as QuickTime?

Hi,
I want to use my LabView program to start up another program. Is this possible? If so how is it done?
The program I have in mind is QuickTime. Will I be able to pass the name of the file I want it to play as an argument and specify where the new window will open?

Hi
You could also place an ActiveX-container in a vi. So you can select a file and set the window position.
Just have a look at the simple attachment.

LabVIEW FPGA does not offer support for any third party hardware, other than the Spartan 3E XUP Starter Kit. Those are probably the drivers you downloaded.

However, this driver only supports the Starter Kit board itself (http://www.digilentinc.com/Products/Detail.cfm?NavPath=2,400,790&Prod=S3EBOARD). You can't use the driver with any other FPGA from Xilinx.

You can proceed as shown below. You need to just get the URL of the component which you want to call from your component using the static method construct_wd_url of class cl_wd_utilities. You then just have to pass this URL to the create_external_window method of if_wd_window_manager. (This part can be done by using the code wizard itself.)

    are you calling the view (embeded in a window ) of a component 1 in component 2. If so,
1. Define the used component(Component 1) in the using component (Component 2)
Component Use : Comp1
Component        : Component 1(Name of the component)
2. On action: using component usage window, window of component can be called as a pop up window in component 2

Call a function from another software

hello,
Iam working on a program where i have to invoke a function from another software, is there any way i can do that? someone told me that i can use RMI to invoke the function but it seems to me like RMI is mainly for networked and distributed systems. any suggestions? i have an idea in my mind, if the software is programmed using c/c++ i can use the native coding to access the functions, well this is only a blind shot, not sure about it.

Hey asrar,
It is possible to call external programs from within the JVM. You need to do the following:
Process p = java.lang.Runtime.getInstance().exec("some.exe");
You can then do the following:
p.waitFor();
This will block until the process returns.
The Process class gives you access to 3 streams.
p.getInputStream(); returns a stream that the process sends to stdout.
p.getErrorStream(); returns a stream that the process sends to stderr.
p.getOutputStream(); returns a stream that allows you to send data to the process.
That is basically all you get.

If you want to use a view from another WD Component, then you have to have a Component Usage for that other view. Have you ever used the ALV Component? If so this is exactly the process that you would follow. You can read more about the techique here:

If the functionality you need is self-contained within the component, you can dispatch generic event to the main application, and over there define the handler function.
If you need more specific interaction triggered by the component, you have to create custom event Class and then dispatch custom event.

Exception calling a WD Component from another one

I have an application that searches some KM files and displays their names in a WD Table.
I used an example from SDN to download the content of this table into an Excel file... I copied the Excel component from this project and pasted it into my own project, so I can reuse it instead of writting all over again
When I click on the "Excel File" button the first WD Component calls the Excel Component but I'm getting this exception:

How to copy all namespaces from one software component version to another

i want to make a new software component version of the same procuct in the integration builder(DESIGN),
how can i do that,
i mean to say, after making it in SLD, and importing it into design, how can i copy all the name spaces present in the previous software component version into the new software component version

K remember while transporting only active objects can be transported and if the object you want to transport is not active then last active version will be transpoted.
While transporting design objects prerequisite the s/w comp version has to be same.

Unable to read software component version from System Landscape Directory "

I've worked in past creating/importing SWCV, but this is new system PI7.0 and stuck.
A) Is my understanding on resolution correct?
Should I go and apply notes 940309 and create client copy of existing client 001
                                    OR
change role of client 001; SXMB_ADMIN -> 'Integration Engine Configuration' to 'Integration Server'
I have no problem in using client 001 as Integration server, all I want is import of SWCV to work. Thanks. Appreciate the help.
B) Here is what I have done and the error:
1) Followed weblog below and created product, software component, technical system, business sytem in SLD.

2) When I import the SWC from integration repository getting error

Below are the points checked from the forum and all steps are correct, but still have issues with the import
1) check the RFCs SAPSLDAPI, LCRSAPRFC, connection test pass as the program ID registered with Jco
2) T-code SLDCHECK no errors (followed http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/de/78/20244134a56532e10000000a1550b0/content.htm)
3) T-code SLDAPICUST got user PIAPPLUSER, pwd is correct (reset the pwd)
4) logged using PIAPPLUSER http://server:port/sld and it works
5) One of the weblog SLD Check Failed (LCR_LIST_BUSINESS_SYSTEMS function doesn't work) referred to apply notes 940309

applied portion (PIPostInstallProcess) of OSS notes 940309 and it resolved.

I still retained client 001 and didn't do client copy as mentioned in the notes. The wizard based CTC tool helped. Here are the details if someone has similar issue and want to know further details:
A NetWeaver Process Integration (PI) Installation (ABAP+Java) has two parts: Installation and configuration. The former is done by the Installer, the latter by the 'Central Template Configuration' (CTC) Tool.

"LabVIEW FPGA: The compilation failed due to timing violations, but there is no path information because the timing violations are not of type PERIOD

The compilation of my labview fpga vi fails with the error message "LabVIEW FPGA: The compilation failed due to timing violations, but there is no path information because the timing violations are not of type PERIOD".
In the 'final timing (place and route)' report, the requested frequencies are all below the maximum frequencies and the compilation error message is only displayed at the very end on the 'summary' page.
I tried to optimize my labview fpga vi with pipelining, but had no success.
Can anybody offer some advice on how to debug fpga code with this error? Is this really a timing error or something else?

Labview 2011, fpga 2011, xilinx tools 12.4 sp1
Hardware:
NI PXIe-1071 Chassis
NI PXIe-8108 Embedded controller
NI PXIe-7965R FPGA FlexRIO FPGA module
NI 5761 250 MS/s 14 bit Analog input digitizer

Also, this issue was already discussed in this thread ~6 months ago, but no satisfying answer was offered so far...

Hi Kyle,
the problem is: I have one computer which compiles the VI successfully and a second one which shows that error. Both use the same software setup (LV2011SP1+RT+FPGA from DS2012-01). Both use the same project file - atleast SVN shows no difference.
- You can have one FPGA VI where one computer is compiling successful and a second one complains. (Btw. I have a SRQ running in Germany on this topic.)
- More problems: After successful compiling on first computer and transferring all to second computer (using SVN, including the full project folder with all files like bitfiles, lvproj, and everything) the second computer is unable to start the RT executable due to error "FPGA VI needs to recompile". Solution so far: Call the FPGA-OpenReference with the bitfile instead of the VI (as I used to do until now)...
- More problems: After modifying the FPGA-OpenReference to use the bitfile (on the 2nd computer) and transferring all the files back to the 1st computer (using SVN as before, including the whole project) the 1st computer complains: FPGA-OpenReference is creating a different reference than is used in the VI. So what happens here? On one computer my VI is ok, the reference is typed correctly. Transferring all the files to a different computer the VI isn't ok anymore due to changes of the reference??? You know: all files are the same: lvproj, FPGA bitfile didn't change, cRIO reference didn't change...
All those problems didn't occur on my RT-FPGA projects in LV2010SP1. I'm not pleased...
