Lack of Availabili​ty is Disappoint​ing

I don't know if this is so much and idea or suggestion as it is a complaint.  I did not see a better area on the Verizon website to provide my disappointment though.  I moved into my current residence about 10 years ago.  My zip code is 11720.  At that time, I was approached by a FIOS salesman who tried to sell me on home services.  I asked if TV was an option, and was advised that it was not currently an option in my area, but that they expected its availability shortly.  It is now 10 years later and FIOS TV is still not available in my area.  Your company spends millions on advertising every year, but what good does that do you if your product is not available?  I find it a bit ridiculous that I have been waiting a decade and FIOS TV is still not available in my area.  In fact, it makes me truly question whether Verizon is the leader in the industry that it claims to be.  And when I say waiting, I mean waiting, because once is becomes available I am going to switch in a second.  So here is at least one customer that you could have had for the past 10 years, and maybe 20-30 more, but you will never see a dime of my money for the simple reason that you refuse to do what is necessary to bring FIOS TV into my area.  Just doesn't seem like a good business move to me.  I am very, very disappointed in your company!!

A couple of notes to help you on your quest:
1) These forums are for customer to customer help.  Verizon reps sometimes escalate specific service issues to the customer service team, but other than that nobody at Verizon responds to feedback such as yours here.
2) Cable TV service is a political issue.  Depending on where you live, local and/or state governments have the authority to grant franchises to provide cable TV (FiOS TV is a cable TV service, legally speaking).  Verizon has lobbied some states to allow state wide franchising.  As you can imagine, the incumbent cable TV companies fight very hard to keep Verizon out and have fought to block state wide franchising.  Some existing franchises agreements may even be exclusive.
In short, I am certain that Verizon wants to provide TV service in all areas they've installed FiOS.  If they haven't been granted the franchises, this is most likely due to the current franchises agreements.  If this is really important to you, you'll need to dig into the local and or state process for cable TV franchising and find out why Verizon hasn't gotten one.  Your local politicians may be able to offer some insight.

  • S10-2 is truly a royally disappoint​ing piece of kit.

    I have a formidable background covering PC architecture, software and hardware (but Im not here to blow my trumpet).     Too many to mention. Where do I start. Well, from a security perspective it would be nice to have granularity of file permissions (which is something the El Cheapo version of XP HOME and Windows 7 Starter do not offer). Me, I would have done some end user testing to see if the Netbook worked well with the market first, rather than engineering something then hoping the market would buy it.
    Anyway, firstly the S10-2 came with XP Home SP3, which means it would not intsall XP PRO. So I created a slip streamed XP PRO and SP3 to create a bootable XP PRO SP3 CD that would boot on any machine other than the Lenovo S10-2 (why, not the S10-2, God only knows).
    Being a Microsoft Partner and having access to all the software for evaluation purposes, I decided to install Windows 7 Professional. This installed perfectly although it took nearly an hour, but then some minor issues....veriface 3 doesn't work on Windows 7 !! Now, whilst Veriface is not a show stopper,I fail to understand why Lenovo would release some Windows 7 drivers/software, but not all of them. It''s kinda like me selling you a car without the engine.
    Anyway, enough ranting and raving for now, I have bigger fish to fry.
    However, will say that BARTPE got me out of some hairy issues especially with it's great support for Symantec Ghost.
    Although, I said you cant set granular access to files within XP Home (natively), you can run SHRPUBW which will allow you to set shares.
    QUESTIONS for Lenovo (or anyone that knows).
    When will all the drivers/software be made available so that a user can use Windows 7 with all the software that they would have used in XP Home ????

    Your thread title and commentary seem  to reflect an overall level of  disappointment..  Aside from your understandable desire to install Win 7, how has the system functioned based on the XP preload?   How is the base hardware?  The design, weight, battery life, keyboard feel, etc?  
    What do you like best about it?  What would be highest on your list of things to improve?
    Given the price point, how do you feel about the overall value of the system?

  • Disappoint​ing customer service

    The printer that I ordered online showed up today with a shattered glass scanning screen. The nearest Best Buy is not a convenient drive for me, hence the online order. When I spoke with customer service, the apathetic agent informed me that "the printer didn't leave their warehouse damaged..." and implied that since it "probably" wasn't their fault, they didn't care to remedy the situation.
    She offered to ship out a new one, and have the damaged item picked up. That sounds like a good policy... except I needed this printer ASAP and couldn't quite wait another week for one to show up. Why should I be the one penalized for receiving a broken printer??
    When I informed the customer service agent that this option was not going to work for me, I could practically hear her eyes rolling as she said that that's all they can offer me. Period. No follow up, and no apology for what is quickly becoming the worst experience I've ever had with ordering products online. 
    Let it suffice to say, in the future I will avoid Best Buy's customer service phone line, if not Best Buy in general, at all costs.

  • Bb10 is the most disappoint​ing phone ever

    I am a hard core BlackBerry believer only to be totally let down by bb10. The navigation is terrible, response time to turning the phone is brutal, apps are substandard! As a business user I have been waiting for this phone only to find out it is time to switch brands. As a Canadian this is so disappointing...time to support apple or samsung...This realization sucks big time!

    Keyboard is the best on the market-dont get me wrong, I'll still be getting the Q10 though

  • Expert Day is a disappoint​ing failure.

    Asked a question, got a single WRONG answer from an "Expert" and that was that.
    I messaged the "Expert" that had answered and pointed out that his answer was (quite easily) provably incorrect, and he replied "It's only your opinion."
    This is the level of "Expert" we get from HP.

    I am also dissapointed with the new layout they are using here in the community forums. I always thought that HP's were maybe the best of any prebuilt manufacturer but not any more, I don't know what they were thinking when they change the layout. 
    Please revert to the old format/layout.

    Same picture clicked multiple times and result is a piece of crap, each n everytime same picture most of time blurred .it seems the camera app having some kind of focussing problem.
    Since i am also using sony Ericsson phone with 5 mp at back is superior than what lenovo a6000's 8mp.

  • Blackberry classic battery is disappoint​ing

    i just got in my blackberry classic on the 3rd of march and sold my q10 as soon as i received the classic, i loved the way it felt and looked but the battery does not last at all barley a day is it something im doing because i barly use it drains as bad as a iphone, my q10 would last about 2 days but this think can barley make it throw a day pleaseeeeeeeeeee help blackberry

    The battery on the Classic is a definite improvement, I'm getting two full days whereas before I would get a day at best on my Z10 and my wife also only a day on her Q10.
    The Classic has a 2515 mAh battery compared to the Q10's 2100mAH battery, so the Classic should perform better.
    But it does take a few days to 'settle down'.  Give it a week or so and see if it improves.
    Good battery management also helps.  Have a look at this BlackBerry Battery Management Demo:

    Specifically, make sure that you do not have an app running in the background that eats away at your battery power.

    Recent made a purchase at bestbuy.com, only for the identical item to on sale for $50 less than a week later, contacted customer service to be informed that the taxes charged on the dfference would not be refunded. So now, I have to return item to store and repurchase for aproximately $5. This is absolutely ludicris. I could certainly understand if price match was at the expense of a competitor, but the adjustment was made from a sale price offered at bestbuy.

  • Blackberry desktop software 7 is a waste of time - disappoint​ing!!!

    I wish I had not accepted the option to update my desptop software from v6 to v7. I have since been unable to synchronize and have been through the re-installation process several times without success. The software kept looking for 'Blackberry desktop software.msi' under c:\Windows\installer\ folder. I am now fed up!! What a waste of time, this is not good for business.
    Can any tell me where I can get the most up-to-date version 6 from a BB site? I would like to revert back to a working software.

  • Disappoint​ing 10.1 update

    I'm very disapointe dto say that the 10.1 OS upgrade still doesn't include in and out of holster settings for email notificatiosn etc.
    This was a fundamental thing with all previous blackberries and it's still not here for the Z10.
    I'm sad to say that if BB can't fix such a simple and fundamental issue then I can't see me buying Blackberry next time. As someone who has has Blackberries for over 10 years that is not a good reesult.

  • DAQmx Disappoint​ing Single Measuremen​t Speed

    I'm experimenting with DAQmx. I'd like to do arbitrary operations, i.e. do some singe measurements on chn. 3, a daq on 3 and 6, then maybe some single on 6 etc.
    With the traditional DAQ using AI_VRead my code takes 0.16 ms per single read, using DAQmx takes 5.40 ms.
    The DAQmx code currently does the full DAQmxCreateTask -> DAQmxCreateAIVoltageChan -> DAQmxStartTask -> DAQmxReadAnalogScalarF64 -> DAQmxClearTask cycle every time. The only way to optimize this is to precreate x Tasks, configure them and keep them at the verified state so they don't lock the hardware.
    Or is there a far better way to do this?

    Thanks for your ideas. But I see some problems.
    One Task with all channels works with outputs, but with inputs on most cards you divide the sample clock by the number of channels you capture. Also you'll have to have on Task per card if you have multiple threads doing different things at the same time (not unsolvable, though).
    With one Task per channel you'll have to synchronize the tasks so they capture multiple channels as one task with multiple channels would do. Say you have to capture two analog signals and have to rate their voltage levels and determine the direction of rotation by comparing the rising edges. And visualize the signals.
    But can multiple tasks use the same clock source? If so, how do you make them start at the same clock edge?

  • 1st generation iPod not recognized by iTunes 9

    Hullo:
    Recently upgraded to iTunes 9 and found that it doesn't recognize my iPod Shuffle (1st gen). The iPod shows up on My Computer, and it still plays and charges when connected, but it simply never appears on the Devices tab on iTunes (in fact, the Devices tab itself never appears).
    Thus far, I have tried re-installing iTunes (following the full uninstall procedure listed on the Apple - Support section), deleting my temp files, restarting the computer after unplugging all USB / external devices, and installing an older version of iTunes (iTunes 8).
    No dice.
    Is there anything else I can try? It seems the most common answer to this problem is, "Install an older version of iTunes," but iTunes 8 did not recognize my iPod either (I'm thinking it was because my oldest saved playlist is from when I had already installed iTunes 9, so I don't actually have any saved iTunes 8 playlists) (might be wrong, though).

    Plugged in my old 2nd gen (10Gb) iPod into iTunes 9 this morning and all I get is the "OK to disconnect" message.
    Which is a huge shame. This iPod is exactly seven years old this month, and I used it all the way up until last year to when I bought my iPhone. It's a testament to Apple's old hardline stance on quality over price, and the fact that they'd oust these models through lack of software development is disappointing.

  • Do YOU call it "FCP X" or "FCP 10"?

    During the past six weeks furious arguments have raged on the merits or otherwise of the forthcoming FCP X, but let's get down to the really important question which I don't think has been mentioned.
    What do we call it?
    Do we say "FCP X" (sounding the Roman letter/numeral "X") or  "FCP 10"?
    There may also be some fundamentalists who will insist on the full "Final Cut Pro" nomenclature with or without the "X" or "10".
    I find myself naturally drawn to the former group, probably because for the last decade I have been brainwashed with "Mac OS X".
    How on earth can you say, "OS Ten 10.6.6"?   It sounds as though you are suffering from a digital stutter.
    So forget magnetic timelines, clip collisions and the absence of a Viewer, let's concentrate on the really fundamental points.
    Not what we do with it but how we pronounce it.
    It's time to make a decision that will direct the course of history  .  .  .  .  .

    What it is is a debacle.
    FCP has been used by tens of thousands of professional film makers, many, if not nearly all, have had experience with other kinds of editing systems, from film benches with upright Moviolas,  Kem and Steenbeck flatbeds, linear editors made by CMX and Grass Valley, etc,  to the ubiquitous crop of NLEs such as Adobe Premier, Avid, even Sony Vegas.  The one link, bridging all of the above is sameness. Editors see the same tools, virtually the same or very familiar interfaces in all of them. So who but an an arrogant snob could possibly think that none of that matters? Apparently, Apple. By reinventing the wheel, by designing a completely new brand of NLE that requires complete schooling, and by breaking all ties and compatibility with all prior versions of FCP, Apple has erected a middle finger and pointed it at the thousands of loyal film professionals who've treated FCP as a family member, investing in her year after year, such as myself.  I own a small studio, currently have 3 Apple workstations, and have been purchasing new Apple hardware religiously for 12 years.  I have been using FCP since 2001, and have been upgrading hardware and software every 2 to 3 years. I'll admit, over the years, some of Apple's development preferences or lack of development decisions has disappointed me, such as their refusal to properly support Blu-ray technology.  But this slap in the face is the last straw for me.  Apple. I'm done with you. The next 3 computers,  the next software purchases, will not be Apple products.
