  • Caller Id with Landline No Longer Working - Called Verizon 4 times without success

I have a Verizon landline account (no Fios) and the caller id has stopped working.   I first tried using their help desk and went through the automated process of resetting it but that did not work.  Then I've tried 3 other times while speaking to a technician at Verizon and each time they say the service is activated and then close the trouble ticket without verifying that it actually works.  It's been going on for two weeks now with no decent help from Verizon.  Does anybody know how to fix it?
    Thanks.

  • BT Openreach Telephone Landline Fault

Today I had my BT Openreach installed. My telephone landline no longer works. When I plugged my analogue phone into the Tel 1 or Tel 2 socket I receive an intermittent beeping tone. I plugged my Sky +HD into the Tel 1 and the phone line connection is recognised. Do I need to call an engineer or is there a simple solution ?

I phoned BT 0330 1234 151 from my mobile this morning. The Call Centre phoned me back and had diagnosed the fault from the exchange. I was told that it would take 3 working days for an engineer to look at the fault. This evening my landline was working again.

  • Droid Turbo talk and surf at the same time

    Hello,
So I just brought my Droid Turbo home and have started testing it. I bought it knowing that it only had one antenna, but I had read that a new update was pushed that allowed for simultaneous talk and surfing. My software update is up to date (21.44.12.en.US), and the notes on the update even mention this feature was included in the update (why it is a "feature" and not a standard is beyond me). I just tried it again, and I can't surf and talk at the same time. Can someone explain this issue; is it only possible when using advanced calling over XLTE? The discussions I could find on here were all dated 6 months ago (before the latest update).
    Thanks.

Yes, they both have to have Advanced Calling for HD voice to work....but that is not what the OP was inquiring about.  You can do simultaneous calls and data with the Turbo with ANY other phone (cell or landline) as long as you have Advanced Calling enabled on your phone.  The HD is an EXTRA feature that makes for better call quality if both have Advanced Calling, but I assure you that you can make regular voice calls the same as with any other device, AND use data calling any cell or landline once you have it enabled on the Turbo.

  • Activating Broadband - Ongoing Nothingness

Against my better judgement and the fact that I can only get approx 0.75mb(!!) broadband where I have moved to I signed up with BT again as I thought it would just be simpler for basic internet connection.  Oh dear.
Perhaps someone could be good enough to fill me in on what exactly needs to be done when a customer gives BT money for broadband  so I can be more forgiving of what is happening.
I ordered end of March and activation date was supposed to be the 12th April. A fair while to wait but with bank holidays and the like holding them up I smiled sweetly.  By the 14th still nothing was working and it was reported as 'in progress' on my order.  I tried ringing but their automated system insists you enter your number and then cheerily tells me I don't have broadband on that number and ends the call.  No kidding. Eventually a call to sales gets me through to a human who puts me onto someone else.  I'm told the engineer did not sort the connection at the exchange as he was supposed to but she cannot put me through to the dept concerned as they dont work weekends but gives me the direct line for Monday. I ring it anyway and they are there and do indeed work Saturday.  Annoying and a bonus at the same time.  Told they will report it and it will be activated on 17th instead and they will ring me to confirm. Fair enough I suppose.
Received a call this morning (17th) saying they are very sorry but the engineer hasn't done what he was supposed to again so it won't be activated today.  (I suggest sacking the engineer but her monotone reply of 'I cannot do that sir' just leaves me vaguely unsettled im really talking to some artificial lifeform).  She then tells me that she will call again on the 19th but only to give me a further as yet unknown future date for activation and it certainly won't be ready by then.  When I push her on what the problem is she cannot tell me other than needs activating at the exchange.
Ok so this isn't the worst problem in the world by a longshot but perhaps someone can tell me what actually needs doing at the exchange?  I would imagine some software alteration on my line to enable broadband rather than some hardware change?  Others in the village already have BT broadband.  I now have images of an old boy in a Maestro van having to nip down there with some wire cutters and plug me in??
Having placed the order last month without even a firm date of activation seems a bit wooly.  Coupled with fact that I'm paying out for a service that is hardly going to provide me with anymore than basic email and webpage access its left me a litter bitter.
Perhaps before BT worry about rolling out 100mbs+ services etc to those that already have pretty decent access they could sort out a basic (say 2mb) service for ALL of their lines no matter how far out in the sticks and buy that local engineer around here a new van!

i wouldn't mind a bit more advice on further developments if anyone can? Came home from work to find that my landline no longer works. I've tried it in the master socket but don't have another phone to hand to try. Called BT who says thereis a problem with line but nothing with their end it must be my wiring. Haven't touched anything and find that hard to believe . He assured me it is nothing to do with broadband connection problems but it seems a bit of a coincidence? Only trouble is he says an engineer coming out will cost over £100 as he can see there is nothing wrong with their line! I pushed him on what the problems with the broadband is and he told me it's logged on the system as a problem with the OSCAR?!? But says he didn't know what that meant only it can't be causing the landline problem as broadband not activated yet. Anyone have any ideas? ShouldI just wait further unknown days to see if something itself? Will this cause problems with them activating broadband or is landline run separate to that? Many thanks.

  • Strange long term landline outage in Monmouth County NJ 07712?

This Monday 7/26/10, as I read online about the Manhattan Verizon landline outage, I decided to check my own home phone. Lo and behold, no dial tone. When I called about it, the recording told me that there was a service outage and that it would not be up until late Thursday night! This was confirmed by an agent. Does anybody else know about this here in New Jersey? The exchange is 732-695. So far I have found nothing on the news about an NJ outage. This seems sudden and severe and I would like to know why it will take 4 days. TIA.

update: as of today the fix date was pushed out to Tuesday, 8/3 at 11 pm! That would make the outage over a week. Support said something about a cable outage, but wouldn't say how many people were affected. This seems like a major outage and I am surprised not to see anything about it.

  • How long does it physically take to swap a landlin...

    Hi,
My phoneline is being switched from sky to BT today.  At 10am my phoneline went dead.  Obviously a good sign since it means things are moving.  But, it's now 3 hours later and still no dial tone.
Any idea how long this is likely to take?  Call me impatient but I would have thought it would be an hour tops to switch the line from skys equipment to BT's in the exchange.
The reason I am so keen is because I have ordered vision too and that has already arrived so I want to set it all up.
    Thanks in advance

  • Landline Long Distance "your call cannot be completed as dialed"

We do NOT have u-verse in our area,  no other options on the menu?? I have tried to call a number in the 724 area code several times with Landline and my cell phone Getting message "your call cannot be completed as dialed" I tried to call a # in the 772 area code with both phones.......NO Problem!!! Urgent to reach the 724 #......does this mean it is out of order or disconnected? help appreciated

Normally that message doesn't mean that the number is out of service.  It means that either (a) some network routing information has been lost and the network doesn't know how to direct it, or (b) the number doesn't make "sense," i.e. the NPA-NXX (the first 6 digits) don't actually map to a servicable exchange.
Have you been able to dial this number before?

  • Since system update, can no longer save photos or access galleries

I received and installed a system update yesterday.  Now, I can no longer access photos or save any photos.  Most of the time, when I press the camera button, I get a message that says "Sorry!  The process androoid.process.media has stopped unexpectedly.  Please try again."  I also get this message when I go to settings, about phone and it happens at random times, like when I'm checking email or texting.
A couple of times I've been able to get the camera open and take a photo, but after I save it, when I go to gallery, it says there are no photos or videos to show.
I thought all of my photos had been deleted, but I was able to plug my phone into the computer and copy them, so they are there on the phone somewhere.
I tried restarting, removing and reinstalling the sd card, and installing a brand new sd card.  Nothing has helped.
    How can I fix this?

July a Hard Reset or FR is a factory Reset what it does is takes your phone back to when you bought it new at the store an to get to were you do the hard reset you need to Hit menu > Settings > then Sd An phone Storage an scroll all the way to the bottom were you will see Factory Data Reset but dont Tap on it . Unless you know how to do the FR.
Since your new to doing a Fr Call Verizon go to option 3 or Technical support on a landline phone or a cell phone other than the one that needs the FR Tell them you have the Original Incredible an you need to perform an Fr an they'll help U go thru the steps.
Now you'll have to back up your contacts they'll tell you how to do it an if bought any apps they'll be save you free apps you need to write them down on a peice of paper so you know what you had an can re enter them.
but a wildman said this will help the phone. Good Luck an let us know if it help ya.!  B33
P.s Don't unmount your card an don't " format"  it.!    if you do you'll loose you pictures an Music. as they're on the Card

  • I've a live landline.but I don't, it's with BT But...

    Hi,
I am completely new to forums so apologise now if this is isn't what it's for!.. I'll start from the beginning... (I hope your comfy)
In 2009 my employer decided to do away with our offices and requested that we work from home and so had a landline and broadband setup at my address ( I had only just moved in so these were the only ones set up).
In around 2011 my boss changed our company from a public sector department to private and around the same time my phone line stopped working (incoming calls only for a short time then nothing) I did however still have the Internet and so it didn't really affect me and I just put it down to the change over and just thought that perhaps my boss was a bit slow shall we say in getting everything set up.
In February of this year I received a letter from BT business thanking me of informing them that I No longer required the broadband and that it would be disconnected in march.
I contacted talktalk and placed an order for a phoneline and broadband, 2 weeks later - nothing! So I called and was advised the order hadn't been put through properly and so they would reorder...a week and a half later - still nothing and so I called again only to be told it had again failed as there was an active phoneline in my property?!
Unimpressed with the service I had received I decided I would try again but this time with sky, 03/04/2013 order placed and was told I would be going live 17/04/2013 - hoorah, I received my hub on the tenth of April and was happy that I was going to finally be set up.
17/04/2013 I have taken the day off work and waiting to get the nod from sky when the postman comes with a letter to say sky have cancelled my request, I am fuming by this point and call them to be told that my order failed due to the fact that I have a live BT line at my address and BT had returned a message to them to say that I ha not contacted them? So I then call through to the BT business line and was told that my broadband had been set up to my address and the phoneline was showing as active but at my next door neighbours address?? She then put me through to another guy that was supposed to be able to help me - he then came on and said that the whole phoneline being registered to next door thing was impossible...then we were disconnected!!! By this time between sky and BT I had been on the phone for nearly three hours an so decided to start again the next day.
Called through to BT 18/04/2013 and spoke to an unhelpful lady who advised me that yes the phoneline was active but it didn't belong to BT and she couldn't tell me who it did belong to, and all that I could do was explain to sky that that BT didn't know who it belonged to and get a new line installed?!
Today I called back through to sky @2pm and explained to yet another person that I wanted to place an order however it needed to be a new line as if they tried with the line that is supposedly already here it wouldn't work (as per bt's instructions) so the guy puts me on hold to investigate and at 3.30pm he comes back to tell me that he has spoken to Artois people and checked several systems which all indicate that the phone line is an ACTIVE BT LINE?!... And because if this there will be a charge for the installation of a new line, as an alternative he give me the telephone number for openreach (the box on the wall is an openreach box - which I have screwed the front off and directly connected my phone to in the test socket and still does not work) and explain to them of the problems as if BT say that it is not theirs openreach may be able to help source who is the provider as they own them all. 5pm I get through to 'legal services dept' at openreach who have no idea why I have been given thier number, I then go through to openreach line faults dept - I am advised that the line is active but they cannot tell me who owns it but it sounds as though I need to report A line fault and so I should contact my service provider!!.... Aaaaaarrrgghhh! So have just got off the phone to my boss who confirms to te best of his knowledge the phone and broadband were both set up through BT.
I am stumped as to what to do next, all I want is a landline and Internet access which to be honest in this day and age I don't think is too much to ask for and am sick to death of being passed backwards and forwards being told different things by different people!!
    Any suggestions greatly received!

  • New BT website = I can no longer find my mobile ac...

Well done BT! For the 2nd month running I get the usual e-mail telling me my mobile bill is now available, only to find they've changed mybt.com and I can no longer see my mobile phone account, only my landline/broadband.
I've wasted at least 10 minutes hunting for it.............it's not there to be found! And now I'll have to waste more time ringing them, which in my experience will result in at least 45 minutes of being put through to someone else, and then being told that they'll ring me back only they won't.
I hate talking to customer support and being polite and patient while they spend more time checking my account no. etc. than they do solving the problem, and then can't resolve it anyway.
I'm fed up with having to constantly fuss over all these mundane, basic issues just to keep it all working.
Is the only solution to 'go commando'?

.........and just wasted more time clicking on the 'chat online' link which of course does nothing.
I'll be spending time searching for an alternative ISP instead. Absolutely sick of this.

  • No longer able to divert on "no answer" - service ...

For probably around 10 years or more I've made continued use of the "divert on no answer" calling feature to divert calls to my mobile when I'm at work or out.  It has worked well for me.
Recently, possibly after a fault on the line was resolved or me reducing some of my feature packages to those I was still using, I realised that my home phone was no longer ringing when dialled.  Anyone dialling the home phone gets a message saying "this call is being diverted" a number of times before my mobile starts ringing.  I tried different home phones and this made no difference.  Then I tried cancelling the divert and the home phone rings fine.  Switching to diverting all calls works as expected, however this isn't what I want to do.  There is little point in having a landline that I can't receive incoming calls on!  Diverting all calls, especially when I'm at home means, with lousy local mobile reception, that I end up with a voicemail message, that I'm charged for, and then have to call the person who left the message to speak to them.  A waste of money.
I spent a whole chunk of time on the phone getting through to and talking to someone who sounded as though they were in India, finally to be told that the option to divert on no answer is no longer available and that they would cancel this feature.  I told them not to do that because frankly I didn't believe them!  I tried to raise it over a webchat and after multiple disconnects was told that I'd already been informed that the feature was no longer available and again, they wanted to cancel the feature.  I declined once more and, having wasted a number of hours on this, raised a complaint via email - mistakenly thinking someone at BT UK would deal with it.  A number of messages from India have now been left on my mobile when I'm at work, driving or at home, saying they would call me back, until the last message which told me that as they had been unable to contact me they were closing the call!
I found that there was a closed fault report on my line which I reopened, specifically asking them to email me with any updates as the mobile reception is poor but the call has now been closed once more, with no updates, and no option to reopen it.
I've just logged another issue with BT reiterating my problem, and the request for updates and communication by email but I don't have high hopes.
The calling feature guide still lists the option to divert after 15 seconds usingthe code: *61*(number to divert to)#  but it still doesn't work!
Now I'm at my wit's end and posting here in the desperate hope that someone can advise me.  BT customer service has been so poor and we are reluctantly in the process of moving our broadband (unlimited faster broadband - a low speed fibre connection as we're very rural here) to BT and the thought of having these sorts of issues with BT broadband makes me feel physiically sick - I've already been driven to tears of frustration with lengthy calls, with people who don't seem to understand the problem and fail to communicate properly.
If the service really is no longer available then I'll have to accept it, but I can't find any reference to this on the website, or even on Google.  Can anyone advise on the availability, or how to contact someone at BT who can deal with the problem effectively?

  • No longer get a Signal. My zip code is 32421 in NW Florida

My zip code is 32421 in NW Florida, Just about the middle of the map, just below Interstate 10. I have been with Verizon since it took a portion of ALLTEL, was with Alltel since they took over another company and was with that company when they took over one. I have not personally changed providers in at least 15 years or more. My problem now is that my signal strength has become almost nonexistent where I have always been all these years. It seems like the fall of 2013 I had good signal but it started dropping. I finally change from a Motorola Maxx (I think it was) and now my wife has a Samsung Galaxy S3 and I have the S4. The other 2 phones on our contract (grandkids) both Apple 4's have the same problem. My son and his wife, who live next door and with Verizon also have the same problem and timeline. It is like a tower(s) have been out of commission for a while. My phone roams at times while in the house. If I have my phone set to announce when it loses the network or regains the network, it became to irritating to have to hear it. At one point we could almost use our cell phones exclusively at home. Now we are bound to landlines. I've never had any problem with Verizon but have become quite upset during the last 6 months to the point of trying something different when our contract expires. We are no longer getting the service we were getting with earlier contracts. Please help. Tell us what we can do or what Verizon is going to do to check this out.

The signal is ever so slightly higher outside as would be expected, but still not high enough, often enough to be depended on. In fact it is more prone to roam when stepping out of the house than inside. I have to drive several miles Northwest (approximately 7 miles) towards the intersection of Interstate 10 and SR 71 in the panhandle of Florida, just south of the town, Marianna. When heading east on SR 286 from SR69, through the Ochessee area to I-10 and then heading east for about 10 miles from the Apalachicola River are several dropout areas of low to no signal, but since we're moving it is for a very brief period of time. Getting back to my house though, the service that I had as late as last summer, both inside and out, has significantly declined.  Just based on my driving from my house, it seems that a tower North of me has dropped. You can find these roads on Google maps, in fact you can find them by zooming in on the Verizon Coverage map, find Tallahassee in North Florida and follow Interstate 10 to the west for about 50 miles. The problem seems to be from SR 286 to SR 69 then to SR71. Along a stretch about 17 miles south of Interstate 10 in between these 3 intersections is where the problem seem most prevalent.
I'm not sure what you meant by follow and send a private message. The only option I see for me is "Reply". Please excuse my ignorance.

  • How long does it take to get a line installed and ...

hey peeps just wondering if anyone else has hasd the same problems that i have experienced with bt i ordered bt infinity and bt landline mid feb and it has over a month to get a phone line which ican only dial out on and no internet it took 3 weeks to get open reach out to dig up my front garden and pavement cos they didnt have any ducts (what ducts) when i saw the special DUCTS its looked like drain pipe tubing i could have got them that from the local hardware store. i was told every day of one week that i would have 2 engineers out to do the dig and put the line to my house but no one turned up, niow i am told they are having problems porting my number over from virgin so i can only dial out but if you ring the landline it just keeps ringing but there is no noise coming from the phone, its not a new build house its was built in the 70's. i cant beleive a telecoms company can take so long in getting a new customer put onto their so called brilliant system. if anyone experience similar problems and delays from their order can you tell me if you got anything out of bt after they got connected at all
    cheers

    Hi jellytot,
it really depends on the work required, the amount of engineers available in your area and if any major issues.
I can be a long time to get set up (judging by some of the posts in this forum).
You and I could purchase the cables, ducting etc from our local DIY/Hardware store but as BT is a large company they use agreed suppliers and as you can imagine, complete a lot of paperwork to get these things through (not that this should be an acceptable excuse). As they are tied into a certain supplier, if the supplier runs out it just adds delays that you and I wouldnt face (if it isnt in your local hardware store, we can just go to the next one).
The number port part can be done quickly, a few days i believe, but again judging by some posts can also take an unreasonably long amount of time (if it goes wrong, it really goes wrong, as 2 servcie providers deal through openreach, which again adds delays that really shouldnt be there).
BT do have a compensations/reimbursement scheme in place, and it depends on start date of teh service. If they have a date that they start charging you they in effect just refund you the charges you've paid for a servcie that wasnt provided (so not really compensations, just a refund). If the order hasnt ever had a start date BT probably havent charged you yet and wont offer any compensation. It is always worth asking though.
I am not in area where they are offering a new fibre servcie so my instal only took 4 weeks (even thought he cable was there and they just had to connect a socket in the house, i was with a cable supplier who kept the old line open until the new one was installed so it didnt really have any afffect on me and i was only refunded the time they charged me for where there was no service).
Goodluck with the installation and hope it gets sorted soon for you.
