Landline out of service since June 5

been a verizon customer for the last 15 years, this is the first time we had issue with the landline.  could place a call but could not receive a call.  A tech came to our house pretty quick (2 days) after submitting issue over the phone.  He did some troubleshootting in the house, found nothing wrong inside, then he went to some box outside on the street to do more troubleshooting, came back and told us that there was problem with the line outside that he would open a trouble ticket to get another team out to get it fixed the next day (Saturday June 8).  After he left, we realized we could not make calls anymore (phone shows line in use) after whatever he did to the box outside on the street.  We figured no biggie, everything would get fixed the next day anyway.  But nothing appareantly happened the next day, no followup calls from Verizon either to at least let us know it was rescheduled or anything.  Called on Monday (June 10) morning, was told someone was being dispatched to get the problem fixed on that day.  So we waited, nothing happened by the end of the day, no calls from Verizon either.  We called again, were told if it did not get fixed by Wednesday, call them back again.  Waited 2 more days, another happened either, no calls from Verizon.  Called again Wednesday night, were told that it had been rescheduled for the 24th.  what the heck???, we were totally not happy about it, called again to ask to have it escalated, the rep assured us it would be taken care of on Saturday June 15.  Again, by the end of the day on Saturday, phone line still not working, very very disappointed and tired of calling Verizon.  anyway, called again, we were told it had been reschedule to Friday June 21.  again, no one had ever called us to at least let us know the scheduling change, asked for escalation again, spoke to a rep who told us that she would write an email to the field op manager to escalate the issue, and she would call me back at 11am today to give me an update.  We are currently waiting for that call back and just came here to rant.   I personally have never had a worse customer service/follow up in anything i dealt with in the past than how Verizon is handling our phoneline issue in this case.

  • My service since June 2nd has been almost obsolete at work and home. I was told August 15th I could get out of my contract how do I know that is true ?

Something happened in my area on June 2nd and my service has not been the same. I called and complained that week and was never contacted back.I can not use my phone in most areas of the building I work in and can not use it in my bedroom at home. I signed my 2 year contract for the first phone April was a year ago and the second phone November will be a year. My daughter has started school and I hate not being able to contact her and vise versa. I was told August 15th which is the end of my billing cycle that I could get out of my contract. This was told to me over the phone I have all the information , but my concern is how do I know this is true. I can't end it until my daughter comes home so we can do some sort of switch over. I paid for the 2 phones and now have to reinvest in more phones and I don't think that is fair either. I live in an area where we still have Alltel and it is being bought out by at&t. If I switch I don't know what my service will be like and sure don't want to sign another contract with out knowing if it will work either. If I wait and Verizon puts a ding on my credit what will I be able to do that won't cost me a fortune on prepaid cell phone purchases ?

Best coverage is really subjective based on your location. For example, Verizon is the best in my area, but 20 miles up the road, a local carrier is better.
There was a law recently passed that requires Verizon to unlock a phone when it's out of contract. I'm not sure whether that includes a contract that was terminated.
The ETF is signed on a per line/per phone basis. If you open another line, you're simply going to add to your headache. They typically don't budge on the ETF.
In a sense, you are blaming Verizon for the high cost of cellular devices. They offered insurance when you signed up, and apparently chose not to accept it. That makes you responsible for replacing your device, if you choose to.
Lastly, the FCC has already addressed the ETF issue. It used to be a base ETF no matter how far you were into your contract. Now, you can reduce your $350 ETF by $10 for each completed month. The FCC isn't going to consider another ETF complaint.
I agree, Verizon has really taken a step down when it comes to customer service. That said, I don't feel this is a customer service issue. You chose not to insure your device without doing the research on the actual cost of a device, first.

  • Phone line out of order since 27th August

Reported to BT 27th August, no response or progress until I chased on the online chat facility, told fault was with the BT network and would be fixed by 25th Sept.  Not fixed on 25th Sept so phoned BT who said it would be fixed by yesterday (30th Sept).  Still not fixed today, no explanation from BT as to why.
Chat facility is useless - used it as there was a wait time reported of 4 mins vs 20 mins on the helpline - took at least 20 to chat with someone, responses to questions took about 10 mins each.  Telephone service equallly poor with 20-25min wait time.
So, after more than a month and in spite of contacting BT I still have no phone line.  Any advice on what I can do about this would be appreciated please.
    Thanks

    Hi andrew_griffiths,
Thanks for posting and welcome to the community forum!
I'm sorry for the delay repairing your phone line.  I can see that it has been out of service since 27th August and I agree that is a long time to repair a fault.  I'm assuming it's due to the the extent of the work needed to get you reconnected.

Sometimes putting it in Airplane mode for 30 seconds, then turning Airplane mode off again will fix this.  If not, try Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

  • Are there any services that can be removed for a smartphone line that hasn't been used since June of last year?  I can't afford the $300 cancellation fee.

I'm in a very tight financial spot, and was hoping I could cancel text, or something.   My son hasn't used his phone since he got his own service in June of last year, and it's just silly to continue paying for it.  Very curious how the account continues to show text messages connected with the phone.

You might look into one of the services that helps match you up with a buyer that wants a phone and willing to take the contract with it (such as celltradeusa.com for instance).  I am listing this site only as an example, there are others as well.  Or alternatively find a friend or other family member who wants the phone and again willing to accept the contract with it.  It is legal and allowed by Verizon (and other cell companies) to transfer the contract to another person.

  • BT Vision - No Service since April 15th & No Help ...

I am writing here in the hope that someone, anyone, will help us.
In March 2013, we moved home.  Our BT Vision service was, for about three weeks, totally fine.  Then on the 15th of April, our box tried to update, and failed.  For the first time, we saw the error code ‘VDR 277’.
My husband, at that time, spent about 2.5 hours on the phone with BT Vision support attempting to correct the problem.  Nothing worked.  At the time, the person he was on the phone with told him there was ‘a problem with the system’, and that she would not be able to book an engineer visit for him – that someone would have to phone him back within 2 hours.
The next day – not having heard from BT – I phoned to follow up.  After speaking to someone from the technical team, I was assured of two things: 1) I would not be charged for the BT Vision service I was not receiving from the 17th of April, and 2) an engineer appointment had been made for the 9th of May, between 8AM and 1PM.
On the 9th of May, my husband waited patiently at home between 8AM and 1PM.  No one turned up.  There was no phone call, no email, no communication of any kind to let him know that the engineer was not coming to our house.
When I arrived home, I contacted BT (my husband works nights, and so was sleeping).  I was given no reason for not having an engineer visit, and although everyone was very apologetic, no one gave me any answers.  I was, however, assured that another engineer visit could be booked, and that they would definitely turn up this time.  When the time came for the person at the call centre to book the appointment, however, there was ‘a problem with the system’, and they couldn’t book it.  They had to phone us back.
The next morning, when my husband was trying to rest after his night shift, he fielded a phone call from BT – 3 times.  Once to try and fix the problem – when he told them that he was waiting for an engineer appointment they said they needed to phone back because there was a ‘problem with the system’.  The second time, they were able to book the appointment and the date and time – the 17th of May, between 8 and 1PM.  The third time, they said that he hadn’t confirmed the date and time, and they needed to doublecheck.
On the 12th of May, I received an email from BT that we were about to go over our broadband usage.  This was due to the fact that we didn’t have a television, and were streaming video onto our iPad.  As soon as I got the email, I phoned BT and was assured that any Broadband usage that I had gone over would be refunded – once the engineer arrived and sorted our BT vision.
The 17th of May came, and my husband dutifully waited, again, after a night shift, for the engineer from BT to arrive.  He waited until 2PM, and then went to bed.  Again, there was no phone call, no email, no text message.
When I got home at 6PM, I phoned to ask what had happened.  Again.  For a second time.  This time, we tried to get the box to work again.  I was on the phone with BT for 2.5 hours that night, and we did everything.  All the things you are supposed to do to try and fix a bad connection.  Again, we got the same error message, VDR 277.  It was during this conversation that I was first told that an engineer visit MAY cost us £100, if the visit is deemed to be our problem and not BT’s. I was very clear that this was unacceptable – we had been doing everything in good faith to try and repair our system and BT had failed in their promise of an engineer, not once but twice, and now I was hearing that it ‘may’ cost  £100 – however, the young man on the phone assured me that in this instance he would waive the fee if it occurred due to our ongoing trouble.  He tried to book a new engineer visit – and due to a ‘problem with the system’, had to have someone else phone us back within 24-48 hours.  He was very apologetic and assured me that the appointment would be as soon as possible – again because of our ongoing trouble.
On Sunday, 19th of May, when I finally received a phone call back, I was on the phone with BT for 3 hours. The engineer visit that they said was available – the first available visit, even for ‘ongoing trouble’ cases like ours, was the 29th of May.  Due to many circumstances – the fact that we could not be home on that day, that we had already rearranged our lives twice to wait for engineers that didn’t turn up, that the absolute very best that could be done was 10 more days in the future – I said ‘no’.  If there was no earlier option – no exceptional circumstance for a family that had been without service since the 15th of April – I wanted to cancel my BT Vision.
I knew I was under contract for BT Broadband and phone, but I didn’t want to cancel them.  I just wanted to stop having to phone BT every 10 days and have a conversation that lasted – at the minimum – a half an hour, and at most 2.5-3 hours.  I wanted to stop telling the same story – this story – to ever helpful and understanding staff that ultimately could not or would not help me.
The last person I spoke to at BT Cancellations made me this promise: an engineer visit would be made, one last time, and if that visit did not take place that I could cancel my BT Vision without all the associated early-cancellation fees, and that all my charges for BT broadband and BT vision would be refunded without hassle.
Wednesday, the 5th of June, my husband waited between the hours of 8 and 1PM.  He waited like he had two times before, and exactly the same thing happened. No one turned up, no one phoned to tell him, no text message or email was sent advising us of the delay. When he phoned to ask where the engineer was, they said that our case had been ‘resolved’ because there was missing information and so they closed the ‘fault’.  I have no idea how this logic works, but because I didn’t have the conversation, and so I can’t explain it any further than that.
There are no words in English to express the frustration and despair that I feel having to deal with this again.  My family have been strung along for the best part of seven weeks – without television, which, while it is a first-world problem, is still a massive inconvenience – waiting for a service that we are still paying for, incurring fees that we should not be incurring, rearranging our schedules and our lives for engineers that are promised but never turn up.
At the end of all of this, I want the service that BT has promised.  I have been a customer with BT since I first got a phone line, in 2008, I think, and I really didn’t want to go to Virgin or Sky.  This whole episode, however – this long, drawn out, time consuming and soul destroying episode – has made me want to mark down on my calendar when my BT contract is up, so that I know the exact day I can cancel without any extra fees, and I whistle as I walk to another provider that will, hopefully, listen when customers have problems that cannot be resolved, provide the service that they have been charging for, and actually do what they say they are going to do – without endless apologies devoid of actual explanation.
Can someone, anyone, PLEASE TAKE RESPONSIBILITY and DO something that will resolve this situation?  I actually don't know what posting on this forum will do to help, but I am really desperate at this point.  I also don't really want to spend any more time on the phone with BT; and am avoiding having yet another hour sucked out of my life on the phone.

  • My iPhone 4 doesn't connect to any wifi sources anymore (even though it used to) and regularly cuts out of service.

My iPhone is from the US and I've had it for nearly two years. I'm with optus. I know that this is not allowed to be discussed but my phone was bought jailbroken. Neither my father nor I had any idea what this meant at the time and would not have bought it if we did know. My wifi connectivity worked fine up until a month ago when it cut out for no reason at all. Since then it cannot connect to any wifi sources. Also, my phone has recently been cutting out of service 1-2 times everyday. I understand that this may due to the fact that my phone is jailbroken. However is there anyway I could unjailbreak my phone? I'm not sure if it is factory unlocked because the iPhone wasn't bought from Apple even though it is legit. So is there really anything I could do to fix my phone? It's running on IOS 4.0.1.
Please help me. I'm fifteen and I really have no idea what to do!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In settings>general> cellular do you have it  turned ON?

iTunes Match has stopped uploading - every file errors and says waiting - I have tried to delete the files and use other formats etc.  I have had the service since Day 1 and NEVER had an issue.  It didn't start until the Delete from Cloud switch to Hide from cloud - the files that do not upload show grayed out on my other devices.

Have you confirmed that you successfull purged iTunes Match by also looking on an iOS device?  If so, keep in mind that Apple's servers may be experiencing a heavy load right now.  They just added about 19 countries to the service and I've read a few accounts this morning that suggests all's not running perfectly right now.

  • Caller display not worked since June 2014

On 26/06/14 I reported a fault (VOL-**********) that the caller display function had stopped working following a thunderstorm in the area. According to the fault status this fault is showing as being corrected and closed on 02/07/14 when in fact the fault still exists. I tested the line using the BT test socket with a new BT2000 phone and this displayed ‘incoming call’ therefore my internal wiring is not part of the problem. I have also dialled the test code *#234# to check if the caller display service is available and confirmed that it is. I then tested the new BT2000 phone on the neighbour’s telephone line and this showed the caller ID for incoming calls, as did my other telephone as well; therefore none of the telephone handsets are at fault. Three times BT have informed me that the fault has been fixed and yet I still have no caller display. Reading through the forums it would appear that other people have encountered similar issues and that the problem is at the exchange, “An Openreach engineer discovered that the RS232 burst transferring the CLI number up the line was too weak and he then went down to the exchange to investigate. He then discovered that the fault lay in the ADSL device which lies between the analogue exchange equipment and the outgoing line”.
I’m surprised to see that BT are taking so long to trace a fault in their system last raised 5/8/2014 (VOL012-**********) and that they haven’t sent an engineer to the property or to the exchange to check the problem.
My patience is wearing thin over this problem with my Caller Display not working as it started in mid June. I’m also becoming less enthusiastic about BT and find it harder to recommend them to others.
My last message from BT, tells me that it should be back to normal on the 8 August. However, it is still not working. Their message that my phone should be back to normal now and if it isn’t report this to BT, is ridiculous. If an engineer had investigated what was causing the fault and found it, then he would have fixed it. However, either an engineer has not investigated the fault or BT is not competent in fixing their own service faults and makes these statements with crossed fingers?

An engineer called yesterday and told me that he had been asked to test the line for a voice fault not a Caller Display fault. However, his testing revealed there is no line fault, CLI signal is strong and he was happy that the new BT2000 phone (bought after the lightning strike) is working properly. (This phone had also been tested on a neighbour’s phone line where it displayed the callers number). He also found that this same BT2000 phone on my line was not displaying the Caller’s number (CLI), but couldn’t offer any reason why.
I conjectured with him that these tests must bring the problem down to a corrupted CLI signal which does not allow the phone to understand the phone number being sent.
When the lightning struck the phone line back in June, it blew the telephone connection in the back of the Sky Box with a flash and bang (telephone cable now removed from the Sky box). It shorted the Openreach Faceplate (now replaced) so that the phones and broadband stopped working and it caused the phone to light up and react as it does when a call comes through.
Now isn’t it possible that the lightning also travelled along the copper wire to the green cabinet just outside the house and damaged something there which is corrupting the CLI signal, but which does not not show up when the voice line is tested? If not, then there must be a problem further back in the infrastructure, possibly in the Exchange, that is causing a corrupted signal to be sent to my phone?
He told me that another team would have to investigate the Caller Display fault as he was instructed to look into a voice issue and as a field engineer he was not able to investigate any problem that might be in the Exchange. I don’t know whether this Exchange Team would be able to investigate a problem in the Cabinet if nothing is found in the Exchange or can that only be done by a field engineer? He told me to contact BT again as he’d done all that he had been instructed to do and they would have to instigate a fault team to further investigate the problem.
When all this is considered we have the basic problem that BT are unable to provide me with a Privacy and Caller Display Service that I have been paying for, because of a fault in their infrastructure. How much longer is it going to take before they correct the problem that’s been going on since June 2014?

THERE NO LICENSE. I am paying for a one year membership (paid 10 months and have not add access to creative cloud) So I recently had to request a month trial period which I am currently using. Please explain that?! Can I please have a telephone number for the North Africa Middle East Region so that I can discuss this matter with someone? Why is this so difficult. For 10 moths I have heard different stories and today after insisting they send me the reply they promised me 1 month ago I revived this wishy washy response:

    Hi,
I normally start xbmc via a service file and do not use a login manager, and have done successfully for some time now,
I can no longer start xbmc.service since upgrading to xbmc 12.3-10
The errors I receive in the journal are:

Not sure what I need to look at to fix this, any ideas are much appreciated.
I am temporarily using the old xbmc.service file from the xbmc 12.3-9 package to ensure xbmc starts.

Thought I'd chime in here, as I'm having the same problem.  I am using the default service file provided by the xbmc package.  Commenting out PAMName=login in xbmc.service allows xbmc to start successfully on boot.  If I start xbmc.service from a normal shell prompt, it will start fine even with PAMName set.

Hello, I am running a Mac book pro soft. 10.5.8 version. Since June the current year I did not get any updates for the software or any kinds of the other application, in my opinion that's weird for such a company.
The problem that I have now is with the Iphone 5 which is not supported for the current Itunes and I can not download the Itunes 10.7 version. What I supposed to do in this case because I can not syncronize at all.
Please give me a hand as soon as possible.
    Many thanks

Mac OS X 10.5.8 is years old, 3 major versions out-of-date and unsupported at this point. You will never get any further updates for 10.5.8, and more and more applications will stop supporting 10.5.8 as time goes on. As mende1 points out, you can buy Snow Leopard (Mac OS X 10.6), which will let you use your new iPhone with your computer, but you need to make sure your computer's hardware is supported. See the system requirements for Snow Leopard:

If your computer cannot run Snow Leopard, you will need to either buy a new computer or abandon any thoughts of syncing the iPhone with that computer.
Also, note that you'll get far better integration of your iPhone and your Mac if you're using Lion (Mac OS X 10.7) or Mountain Lion (Mac OS X 10.8), which are required to use iCloud. Of course, the requirements of those systems are even steeper than those of Snow Leopard:
