Language and account name issues

Hello,
is it possible to change the language of the automated email (after creating a user), without editing the account language?
How can I change my name in the account information? Adobe Connect puts some numbers behing my normal name.

I don't believe there is a way to change the system email language, other than changing the language of the server.
You should be able to click on Administration > Users and Groups. Search for your account, select it and click Information. You should then see an option to Edit your information.

SharePoint 2010 Web Analytics showing user Display Name and Account Name from the same user

Since July, 16th 2012 the Web Analytics Daily Unique Visitors reports started to show almost the double of visitors we used to have on our Web Application. Here are some of the data (I intentionally deleted the weekend data):

As you may notice the data jumped from around 2.700 unique visitors to around 5.000 unique visitors. As the number of permissioned users remains constant it is pretty odd. I also checked the Number of Page Views report and see no change on its behavior.
The number of page views remained constant.
So I went to look the Top Visitors report and understand why the visitors number almost doubled. The analytics started to count the users Display Name and Account name as two different visitors with a different number of page views. Let me show you an example
from yesterday (July, 25th) Top Visitors report:

As I stated this is an example from July, 25th. If I checked the same report from a period before July, 16th I can only see the users Display Name as "Visitors". No account name is displayed or counted as a different visitor.
About the environment:
We have two SharePoint 2010 farms: a "corporate" and a "enterprise". The corporate farm contains four web servers and a central administration servers with publishing services. The enterprise farm contains two servers running User Profile Services, Search
Services and some others. Our main version is the SP1 with June/2011 Cumulative Update with a few more hotfixes applied.
This behavior on analytics is affecting all web applications (we have more than 20) installed on this farm and my company Support team said that no change were made on SharePoint on the weekend the problem started.
Does anyone have any tip about what is going on?

First of all thanks for your interest on this issue but I don't think it is related to the User Profile or the Active Directory.
I checked both records and there was no change on the Display Names. All the users have "full names" as display names (first + middle + last name) and not logins as SharePoint is displaying on this report.
But I did a test yesterday and checked the results today confirming that just the access been made using a specific server are causing this. Explaining it better:
I have four web servers on my farm named from P01 to P04. Then I created this test script:
Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P01.
Step 2: Access site "A"
Step 3: Access site "B"
Step 4: Close the browser.
Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P02.
Step 2: Access site "C"
Step 3: Access site "D"
Step 4: Close the browser.
Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P03.
Step 2: Access site "E"
Step 3: Access site "F"
Step 4: Close the browser.
Step 1: Change local HOSTS file to point the web application on the server P04.
Step 2: Access site "G"
Step 3: Access site "H"
Step 4: Close the browser.
I asked three users to execute that script. The results: All access to the sites "C" and "D" were registered on Web Analytics with the user account name such as "nt\cmazevedo". All the other sites registered the user Display Name correctly such as "Cinthia
XXXXXXXXXX".
With this test we could isolate the problem just on the server P02. It doesn't occur on the others. Now my support team is trying to find any configuration difference between this server and the other three that could point for the root cause.
I am also looking for some information regarding the service responsible for this task ("transform the account name into a display name") to understand why it doesn't work on one server and works on the others.

What's the difference between "Full Name" and "Account Name"

Just re-install a new OS X Lion. On the "Create Your Computer Account" screen, what's the difference between "Full Name" and "Account Name"?

Your computer name by default would be "John David Appleseed's Macbook Pro"
But you can always change that in System Preferences->Sharing
And yes, the first account you set up will be an administrator.

Attempt to deal with changing login account name issue

Like many companies, we have on a regular basis people who change names due to life situations. I have tried a variety of things to deal with this in SharePoint.
The changes start with the Active Directory admins, who create the user's new login during a night shift. I get an email about the change. When I look in the user profiles, I see that many of the fields for the user reflect the change. However, the
actual account name attribute, which is read only to me, never changes during this period.
So this morning, I once again web searched, found

I ran

This is the type of behavior I have gotten over time.
For the longest time I didn't do anything since the user profile was mostly updated. Then an InfoPath programmer reported getting stale information when trying to get the user's login. After research we found that it was using the account name for the user
rather than the login attribute (which is properly updated).
Several times I went through adding all the people who had out of date info in their user profile.
I recently tried to write some powershell that would at least produce a report for me of all users in the farm whose account name differed from their logins - I was never able to get code that actually worked.
Surely there is something simple that I am missing. I am hoping someone reads this who recognizes the problem and lets me know.
The user profile sync is running - new user profiles appear in the system each day and as I said, in all the cases I have seen, the AD information in the profile has all been updated - except the account name (which I suspect must be an index key or something
for the profiles).

About the only thing I have seen that works is to go into all dozen or more of our site collections and add the user's new login to an appropriate sharepoint permission group - that seems to force the account name update or at least removes the old entry
and creates a new one (I am uncertain which it does).

Hmm. Let me see if I can.
Okay, so if you look at the 3 entries from the detailed user list of one of our site collections, you will see that most users are like the first and last one in this screen shot - where the login column and the user name column have the "same"
name (one has a domain and the other doesn't... that isn't the issue to which I am referring).
The middle person however has a user name which was the last login the user had, and has a login string with the correct domain and the correct login.
When I go to Central Admin > manage service applications > User Profile Service Application > Manage User Profiles and I search for the old name, it is not found in either the missing or the active user profiles.
When I search for the new name, a user profile is found. When I read through the user profile, there is no attribute which has the value of the old name.
There are calls from users in this situation which lead us back to user list information like this.
I have seen a user who was able to sign a document out for change in a doc library, but who could not sign it back in because "it was already out to another person" where the other person is the old name.
Likewise, as I mentioned, if an InfoPath attempts to pull the user's information back from the sharepoint web service, there have been, at least for us, times when the old name is returned with certain methods instead of the new name.
The interesting thing in this case is that normally I can fix these by adding the new login into a sharepoint group for the site collection. So far, that has not helped with this user.

When I use migration assistant it won't let me use my account name that I'm signed in with. It requires me to select a different user name and then creates a separate account where my files live. Why can't I select the user name and account name I have?

I'm trying to migrate my music and pictures over to my new iMac. When I use the migration assistant it connects to my PC fine but it won't let me use the account name and username that I have created as the admin. It requires me to create a new user account - so then I have two separate accounts to log in to which i don't want. How do I get it to let me use the current account that I have to move my files to?

Migration Assistant creates a new account and migrates all the information you have requested to that new account. There is no way around that. However once migrated you can move the data to the account you want to. Here are some instructions for doing so:

I just repaired my sons macbook and I need to test it. Can I start it and skip the setup for internet and account names?

My son's MacBook pro needed a new hard drive. He is out of state for a month.
I want to test it to make sure it has been fixed, but I cannot get past the start screens which require
an owner name, an account name and passwords. It states the account name cannot be changed once
entered. I dont want to enter info that might not be his preferences.
Can I bypass this screen? There is no "skip"nor "continue" button.
It wont let me proceed without an entry. Can I bypass this for now to simple

How did you install the OS and which OS version did you install?
You do need to set up an account. I never enter my address, etc, but usually (when I want to sell a machine with a new install) set up a temporary account "user" with a password of 12345 with as little info as possible (it also helps if it's not connected to the internet at that point because it won't be able to contact Apple's servers. That way you can run it and he can establish another account when is is back.

SOS is automatically assiged to particular product ID thru Purchasing Contract (Purchasing Contract created locally).Vendor is assigned to the Purchasing Contract.Vendor is properly mapped to the respective Purchasing Organization as recored in the table BBPM_BUT_FRG0061.Purchasing Contract is also mapped to the same Purchasing Organization of Vendor.
2.Account 50011 requires an assignment to a CO object (Item Sourcing Strategy & Plan Consulting )

Account assignment Categories and G/L Acc. are properly maintained and activated in SRM for each Product Category. same values for G/L Acc. and Acc.Assignment Categories are maintained in R/3. In R/3 when we checked in the tables SKA1,SKB1 & SKAT all these entries are maintained properly.
In our project Scenario we don't require CO Component only AP Component is Configured for our Business Requirement.

I think you've found the issue in your own post. The account you are logged in with is not designated as the account owner. If that's not correct (you are the owner, and you are logged into your account), you'll need to call Verizon to have them properly designate the account owner. Each line on a family plan can have a MyVerizon login.
If you aren't the account owner, you will need to have them log in and process the upgrade from their account.

In Reporting Services, when we configure a service account in Reporting Services Configuration Manager, this account will be written into Urlreservations section automatically. This account is used for accessing the Web Services URL and Reporting Manager

Goto the Email set up, it will show you the Current Email accounts you have set up, there will be an option to "Edit" You can change the Display Name (what other's see in the From line) and Account Name, what shows up when you mouse over your email icon on your Blackberry.

How to authenticate LDAP with account name?

In my ADS server for all the users common name and account name are differently assigned , In LADP application which is developed using JNDI APIs it is able to authenticate the users with display name/ CN value(common Name ) only, but I need to authenticate users with account name.

When trying to sync, I get an error message "account name missing".

I just tried configuring Firefox Sync on my laptop and desktop (both Macs), with the laptop as source of the sync data. When I try to connect to the server, however, I get an error message "connecting to server failed" on the laptop and "account name missing" on the desktop (error messages are paraphrased from Dutch). What's going on and how can I fix it?

This isn't "a few minutes of sync errors", this has been going on for nearly a day now. It seems unlikely that it has anything to do with the maintenance.

No "purchased by" or "account name" in Get Info display

The first song I purchased from the iTunes
store works fine. When I use "Get Info" to

Hi ailurous,
I run repair permissions all the time without first booting from the install disk. It works fine. On the other hand, attempting to Repair Disk without booting from the install disk will not work.
I'm thinking something other than faulty permissions is causing your problems..
That being said, I'd suggest booting off your install disk, running Disk Utility, and selecting First Aid>Repair Disk.
If it says that it couldn't repair the disk, just keep running it until it gives you the Disk Successfully Repaired message.
Let us know if this helps or if you get some error messages.

Email Account Name can't be changed (at least it won't save)

I've been trying to change the name of my personal email account on 3 different Tours now, and it won't save. It defaults to the email address. I can change it, and it says the account was updated, but it doesn't stick. It keeps showing the email address as the account name.
Is this a bug in the software? Must be, since 3 Tours have done it.
Any ideas? Thanks.
