Language problem - Sloviak character  u010D

Hello Guru's,
we have a serious problem with a recently installed language, Slovakian.
system = 46C NON UNICODE
We loaded the package succesfully through smlt and added it to parameter installed_languages.
We are able to login using language SK (slovakian) but we cannot use some specific characters :
<b>Like &#269; => LATIN SMALL LETTER C WITH CARON</b>
http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/010d/index.htm
&#269; is translated in a normal c
Has anyone experienced this?
Installed character sets are 1100 and 1401. If I go to report RSCPINST and run it I see codepage 1401 listed for Slovakian so I think this is ok.
I also tried using these parameters to switch between 1100 and 1401 but no luck :
install/codepage/appl_server
install/codepage/db/non_transp
install/codepage/db/transp
If I go to the codepages using SPAD => advanced => charsets => character sets=> 1100 or 1401 I don'y see 269 listed.  And this is the number of the character &#269;.
Maybe this has something to do with it.
Please help me because I'm totally stuck and need a solution by Saturday
Thanks
Hans

Stefan,
we figured this out ourselves eventually.
But thank you anyway.
Kind Regards
hans

    I am using tomcat 5.0.19,
is there any way to solve this problem... Please help......

Were you ever able to solve your problem?
    I have a similar problem.
My database is storing the characters correctly and they can be viewed in Java, but when I try to convert them to unicode using:
    String inputUtf8 = new String(input.getBytes(),charset);
it works for almost all characters, but some come through as noncharacter "boxes."
The characters that come through as boxes in iso8859-1 are the ones that are in the "supplementary" character range of that set, such as:
    - curved left and right quotes
    - "TM" symbol
    - bullets
    - m dash and n dash
(see this table: http://www.csgnetwork.com/htmlchrset.html for a more complete list of the supplementary characters )
Any idea what I need to do to have these characters show up properly?

A better approach would be to take a char rather than a String in that method, since it's a better model for what you're converting. A char would also let you use switch statement.I was going to say this as well but you beat me to it.
@OP, you really should use char for this. You're unnecessarily taking each char, converting it to a string, and working with the single-character string. That's not very efficient.

  • Language problem with Safari!

I can't view the Arabic language correctly with "Safari". I chose the "Arabic (Windows )" as my "Default Encoding". I'm using "Safari 3.0.3 (522.15.5)". My OS is "Windows Vista Ultimate". "Arabic" is my current language for non-unicode programs. I don't have this language problem with neither "Internet Explorer 7" or "Firefox 2.0.0.7". I really like the "Safari Web Browser" but this problem si really annoying. How can I solve it? Thanks!

Try to run nightly version of Safari: http://nightly.webkit.org or wait for final version of Safari. Localization issues are major known bugs in Safari.

  • Language Problem while exporting and importing data

    hi,
I have Oracle version 8.1.7.0.0 installed on one server and 9.2.0.1.0 installed on new server.
I'm copying and pasting my version info from SQL*Plus:

I created new user on my new server from enterprise manager.
Exported user from the old server and imported in the new server.
    i.e: from Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0, I did
    c:\>exp system/manager file=abc.dmp owner=abc
Then on the new server Release 9.2.0.1.0, I did
    c:\>imp system/manager file=abc.dmp fromuser=abc touser=abc
I'm using Arabic Language on my both servers. NLS_LANG parameter on both the servers is AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252.
On both the servers I'm able to insert and select data in arabic.
However, after I export the data from old server to the new server, the arabic data comes in question marks.
If I create new table and insert arabic data on new server's user abc it is displaying well. Only the data which I exported and imported is not showing arabic.
On both old and new servers operating system is Windows XP.
I'm stuck with this problem. Anybody having any idea about how to solve this problem please help.
    Thank you all in advance.
    Regards

Let me be clear here. Storing Arabic data in a WE8MSWIN1252 database is not supported by Oracle and will lead to problems. You are incorrectly using the NLS_LANG to prevent proper conversion and your data appears to be okay when you use utilties like SQL*PLUS to view your data. When you write applications that don't rely on the NLS_LANG like JDBC thin driver for instance you will realize your data is in fact invalid. To learn more about the NLS_LANG you can take a look at this FAQ: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/htdocs/nls_lang%20faq.htm
To migrate your database to a proper character set you can refer to this paper:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/globalization/pdf/mwp.pdf
But please do not ask for help in supporting your current configuration in this forum.

  • Language problem on import

    hi everyone!
i ve oracle 10g2 XE Universal already installed on my pc.
    i changed NLS_LANG in registry in GREEK_GREECE.EL8ISO8859P7.
i am trying to import a file in XE that i exported from oracle 10g2EE (charset AMERICAN_AMERICA.EL8ISO8859P7).
import done but with many warnings. i ve also this message:
import done in EL8ISO8859P7 CHARACTER SET AND AL16UTF16 NCHAR CHARACTER SET
import server uses AL32UTF8 character set <possible charset conversion>
when i go to run my application i take this message:
Database server error ORA-01756 QUOTED STRING NOT PROPERLY TERMINATED.
i guess that the problem with the language did not be solved changing the NLS_LANG in registry.
    Can anyone help me?

Some update to detail the problem after further investigation.
    Any idea is appreciated.
On EBP when we try to make a search for the available values we get "page cannot be found" error. This error occurs only if we login to EBP in a non-English language, i.e. either Turkish or Russian.
We don't get this error on all search helps but with the ones that have a non-latin character in the link. On the other hand the problem does not occur in all the links with non-latin characters. Some of the links with non-latin characters are working correctly.
    Steps for the Reconstruction
    1. Login to EBP in Turkish
    2. Goto Process GOA/"Genel çerçeve sözle&#351;mesini i&#351;le" under  Contract Management
    3. Create a GOA
    4. On the initial screen of the GOA creation click on the "binnocular" at the line of under-over delivery tolerance/"Tsl.aç&#305;&#287;&#305;/ fazlas&#305;tolerans&#305;"
    5. Since our SRM server is on SSL Internet Explorer first asks for displaying the non-secure items. The actual problem is that the link contains non-latin characters. You can see the link by clicking on and not letting the binnocular.
    6. However when you go down on the same page to the binnocular for the vendor/"Sat&#305;c&#305;" search you get no errors. Because the non-latin characters are converted to ASCII codes.
I have also opened an OSS note on that.

  • Chinese Language Problem.

    Hi Experts,
    Scenario 1:
I have a customer Master in ECC for which all the Basic Data is in Chinese text Name1,Street and so on were in Chinese Language, Language field also has Chinese(ZH).
When i extract the Customer from ECC in the form of IDOC. In WE02 under ADRMAS segment i can see the data in Chinese Symbols (Which is Correct). But when the IDOC hits the XI server all chinese Charcters are changing to ###### Symbols in the Inbound Message and Outbound Message of XI.
So, in MDM Customer Repository record is getting created with ######, Which is not correct.
    Scenario2:
In MDM if i create a Customer with Chinese Language say Name1, Street and so on.. Language is selected as Chinese.
When i syndicate the Record, data is going to XI and the Outbound Message of XI has Chinese Characters, but when i see the
in XD03 all the chinese Characters were converted to ####
From the two scenarios, i feel that there is some Configuration needs to be done in ECC. Correct me if i am Wrong.
Note:Unicode System for ECC 6.0  is marked as 'YES'
if any one has come across this knd of problem, please share what you have done to resolve this.
Let me know if any details you need.
    Thanks
    Sowseel

    Hi Sowseel
in your senario you are facing problem on XI level there is nothing related to MDM as you specified that is once you syndicate records from MDM system Chiense Character (symbol) is diplaying and same from extracting data from ECC which means problem  at XI level so you need to do some language settting on XI server level with help of XI and basis team
    Senario as follows :
    1. Just check IDOC at XI level i.e  field contain Chiense charachter(Symbol) before posting IDOC to ECC
    2. if IDOC  has Chiense charachter(Symbol) at XI level before sending to ECC then problem at ECC level then in thus case you need to make neccesary language setting at ECC level not XI server level
Just test above senario and reply back if you are facing problem and closed this thread
Even i faced similer kind of issue at my client place and it got resolved with help of basis team  by doing some setting at XI serve level

Oh, how is the data stored in the database? What are the binary values
before and after convert()? You need to make sure that before you
out.print() the data that it is in a printable format. It sounds like it is
stored encoded and you are not using that information to extract it from the
database so it actually comes out encoded (instead of as unicode), or
    something like that.

Can you use the page directive and the meta tag together? The firstshould
set up the writer to stream conversion (out.print) and the other tells
    the
browser what to expect, although you'd think that info would be in the

    Hi,
If you used the standard installation for reader, the path should have been /usr/lib32/Adobe/Reader8/bin and not /usr/lib32/Acrobat/Reader8/bin. Could you confirm how you performed the installation?
The solution is to uninstall and re-install the reader using the standard location. We highly recommend that you install under /opt if it's a system-wide installation. Installing under /usr/lib32 seems strange given that the reader consists of more than just libraries.
If that's not possible, you can fix it by tweaking the INSTALL script that is part of the language pack installer. Change line 198:
    from:
    198 if [ ! -d "$dir/Adobe/Reader8/Reader" -o ! -d "$dir/Adobe/Reader8/Resource" ]
    to:
    198 if [ ! -d "$dir/Acrobat/Reader8/Reader" -o ! -d "$dir/Acrobat/Reader8/Resource" ]
and specify /usr/lib32 as the path of installation when prompted.
Let us know how you progress.

  • Language Problem In Oracle?

    Hi,
I have installed oracle 10.2.0.1 DB on Windows XP Professional.I set the following parameters related to database language and character set while creating the DB.
    NLS_LANGUAGE AMERICAN
    NLS_TERRITORY AMERICA
    NLS_CHARACTERSET RU8PC866
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET AL16UTF16
DB is created succesfully. But the problem ORA-errors are shown with some raw charectors.SQL plus menu is in arabic language. How can i make to display the ORA-errors and SQL* PLUS menu in english.
    Thankx..

    ".[ARABIC_SAUDI
ARABIA.AR8MSWIN1256]"This setting is likely based on Windows locale settings found by the Oracle installer.
Do you want to change this "default" for all users or only for your specific usage?
I would consider limiting the scope when altering the settings, for example to a cmd file or even per session. Try e.g. ENGLISH_SAUDI ARABIA.AR8MSWIN1256 (Windows-1256 is likely your ACP setting, and since the character set includes ascii characters it should do fine also for returning system messages in english).
    SQL> alter session set nls_language=english;

    Hi all,
I'm working on SRM 5.0 with 2 back-ends; user languages will be english, russian and turkish.
Everything is working fine while we are using English as logon language.
Now we are experiencing a problem while using Turkish: during GOA creation, when in the distribution tab we are trying to display from the match code the list of releasing Purch. Org. we got the Explorer warning Security Information:
"This page contains both secure and nonsecure items. Do you want to display the nonsecure items?"
and after no pages are displayed (both selecting yes or no)!
Some of you has experienced similar problems?
Can you advice some particular settings in the case of multi-language environment?

    hi all
i have a litter problem on my phone nokia 8600.
it's a gift from my aunty from England and i currently in malaysia.
the phone is nice and it's in good condition as well!
but...it's can't recognize chinese character. it's a bit annoying when i recieved an msg which in manderin word, i have to forward to another phone to read it.
it's not a big deal , but day to day it's cost me a lot, expecially in chinese occasion, i keep recieving these type of msg.
so my question is, is there any way to install another software that support chinese languages perhaps it's like PC software??? i have no idea)
thanks for your time, and hope somebody can give me a hand here.
    cheers!

    Hi SamehLandous,
Thanks for your post and welcome to the forum.
This can be fixed quickly by updating or reinstalling the software.
Please connect your phone to Nokia Suite and make a back up first via Tools > Back up. Then click on the green arrow icon where you will be able to update the phone's software. If no update is listed you will be able to reinstall the current software, this option is displayed in blue.
After the update, please go to Tools > Restore to restore the back up. The Nokia Recommends app will now make the required internet connection and the application will run smoothly.
Please get back to me if you manage to resolve the issue, otherwise I can provide further support.

  • Agentry Android Client - Device Language Problem

    Hi all,
We are using SMP 2.3 SP04 and Agentry 6.1.4 versions both for client and server.
There is no problem when the client's device system language is English. But when it is a diferent language, gives an error.
    Check the screenshot below,
Previous client versions are worse, because they all just crash after "Checking Style Definition" step.
    Thanks in advance.

    Murat,
One idea for non-English language is that all the localization files or configuration files (*.ini) or any edited files were saved in encoding type: Unicode.  If you are using Notepad to save your changes, when you press save or save as there is an Encoding type selection next to the "Save" button. Make sure it is Unicode (not Aschii).
Here is the definition of Unicode Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unicode
If you look at the Wiki Unicode characters support Non-English or character type better.
The above is just a trick we use in support. Also when Agentry implemented multilingual support the code supported Unicode encoding.
    This is one idea.
Another idea is to dive in the log files just before the failure occurred for Replacing Definition for EditFieldStyle. Check which file it used.  Try opening it in Notepad and click Save As - See what encoding it is using (The Encoding will be displayed next to the Save button).
