Laptop Pavilion

Hi,
I have had an HP Pavilion laptop given to me by a Chinese student who has just returned to China. It had XP on it, but it was a Chinese version.  I should like to re-format and install a legal copy of Windows 7.  However, there are a couple of problems:
(i) The machine is described as Pavilion dv2000, but its servive tag, also on the rear of the case, which I think describes it more accurately is dv2121TU. When I go to HP's Support and Download page and key in DV2121TU, I am directed to a page for a "different part of the world", i.e. Asia. Alas, I cannot read Chinese so am stuck.
So, the question is:  where do I find the download files for dv2121TU? I need such files as LAN, pointing device, webcam, video, audio, etc. If I just key in DV2000 then I am presented with at least 15 possibilities for  various sets of software, so, in the event that I cannot access the DV2121TU set  of drivers,  which DV****  has the closest set of drivers to DV2121TU that i should install?
(ii) The machine has a 380G HD and 2G of RAM. Shall I be successful in installing Windows 7 or had I better stick with XP?
And will I need different driver files in the two cases?
Many thanks to all you experts in advance.

Hi,
XP will run out of its life soon therefore moving to Windows 7 is a good move BUT no Windows 7 support from the following link:
   http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3327541
You can install Windows 7 on your machine, using Windows 7 updates to update drivers and find 2 or 3 missing later..
Hope this helps.

  • Have a new hp laptop pavilion g6 amd,i need an adapter to plug in my sony wireless headphones.

Just purchased HP Laptop Pavilion G6 and Sony Headphones [Wireless],find the plug in adapter will not fit Laptop.
As I live a far distant from my supplier wondered if this a common problem.

I was afraid of that.  When I plugged my older Cinema Display monitor into the thunderbolt port on the new Mac Pro, it worked fine, for two days.  Then it went black screen.  Local Apple Store tells me the old display needs a new LCD panel (over $600!).  I will get an older display that should work with the older Mac Pro and go from there. Thanks forgetting back to me!

    Hi,
Follow the procedure on the link below to create a bootable Ubuntu CD and follow the steps in Part 3 to 'Try it' to see if this OS will run from the CD without the need to install on your HDD.  This will show whether the problem is with Windows or a Hardware problem with the optical drive.

  • I need recovery for laptop Pavilion dv6-1235ee

I need recovery for laptop Pavilion dv6-1235ee , I need the link for the recovery or send recovery cd to my mail

If you have the recovery partition intact on your notebook, you can just press F11 during boot and it will take you to the recovery mode. Just follow the instructions to perform a recovery and it will reset your notebook back to the factory settings.
In case you do not have the recovery partiion, I would advise you to go through the following document which will help you resolve the issue:

  • Windows 8 Home Premium came on Laptop Pavilion 17-e049wm

Okay, Question, I have an HP Pavilion 17-e049wm Laptop, I wanted to use 2 HDDs for it (Seperatly) One for Gaming, One for Apps, I tried installing Windows 7 *VALID COPY* and Installed all the Drivers for Windows 7 but the issue is, The Net Speed is extremly low (As in 3.54 Mbps for Wireless AND ETHERNET CABLE) for the Download, Upload is good at about 11.20 Mbps.
Idk if it's because the Windows 7 Drivers are so out of date or what, But My question is now, Is it possible to use my Restore Disks (For windows 8) on my Spare Drive and be able to switch back and fourth letting my Computer (Sense Key is stuck in bios (P.s Microsoft sucksssssssss for that)  re-autherize the Bios Keys? or Will it just make my other HD Useless and i would lose all my programs on my main drive if I do that?
Can someone help me with this? Either with the Windows 7 Drivers which are slow or with the Windows 8?
    Please and Thank you.

    Bump, Please help :/

  • What is the best type of battery for my laptop pavilion G6-2293sa ?

Product name: HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC
    Product number: C1S92EA#ABU
    Windows 8 64-bit
Hi, i`d like to buy a new battery but i want to know what is the best for my laptop.
I bought this laptop two weeks ago and my battery stopped charging (593553-001, Li-ion 4300mAh, 10.8V)
    Thank you

    Hello kolyu91,
I understand that your battery is not charging.
Since you laptop is so new, I wouldn’t spend money on a new battery.
Your laptop should still be under warranty and HP will replace the battery.
Here is a link to a number to call HP.

  • Very slow laptop - Pavilion g6-2245ea

    Hi,
My Pavilion g6-2245ea laptop has started to run extremely slowly, even during the most simple of tasks. I was hoping to get some advice on an upgrade.
It has a 1.7ghz  processor with 8gb of RAM and is running windows 8. Which of these should be upgraded or should I upgrade both?
Its mainly used for browsing the internet, looking at photos and for watching the occasional DVD, all of which it does painfully slowly.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

8 gigs is the most RAM you can put in it and the processor upgrade is not practical. In fact, the processor is soldered to the motherboard so an upgrade would require purchase of a motherboard and processor. The AMD E2-1800 is not very strong but you are pretty much stuck with it. But the real bottleneck in the system is the pokey 5400 rpm hard drive. The upgrade of choice these days is a solid state hard drive. For your uses the SSD will make everything way faster. Boot time will be slashed to 15-20 seconds and applications and web pages "pop" open. You have to see it and once you have used a laptop with an SSD you will never go back.
    This is the Service Manual:
    Manual
See Page 44 for hard drive replacement instructions. Here is a 256 gig SSD for $115.

  • Disk stuck INSIDE laptop - Pavilion 17-e110dx (F9L87UAR#ABA)

    Hello -
I have a Pavilion 17-e110dx (F9L87UAR#ABA), running Windows 8.1. Today I put a DVD into my optical drive, and when I didn't hear it spinning, I ejected the drive, but the disk is now stuck INSIDE my computer....please help!  The drive opens and closes without any problems...where did my disk go?!   How can I safely remove the optical drive in order to get the disk out? I do not want to damage the disk, as it contains irreplaceable pictures.
Also - I purchased this laptop about a month ago, Refurbished, and it is still under warranty.
    Thank you!

Thank you very much...it worked! But I do have to tell you that when I pulled out the optical drive, the CD-R was actually inside the computer...not inside the optical drive. Very strange...never had this happen to me before, and I've been using computers for a very long time!
    thanks again.
    Huffer wrote:
It has to still be inside the optical drive. It is a closed tin can. Flip the laptop on its back, open the service bay and look for a single screw with a DVD drive icon next to it. Remove the screw and the DVD drive should slide out of the chassis with a little push from behind with a flat blade screwdriver. Pages 47-49 in this Manual show how.
    Manual
Once the drive is out of the chassis you can use the pinhole to open it with a bent-out paperclip. Open it all the way and you should be able to see the disk in there to remove it.

  • Laptop Pavilion DV6500 not starting

I have a HP Pavilion laptop DV 6500 running Vista 32-bit.
The last time I used it, a week ago, it worked perfectly. When I tried to start it yesterday, all that happens is that all the LEDs ll flash once briefly and it does not start. I have tried the following:
    (1) To boot it with only the battery;
    (2) To boot it with only the mains power supply and with the battery removed, and
(3 ) With both the battery installed and plugged into the mains supply.
    (4) I have done the above with a suitable new mains adaptor.
    (5) I have disconnected it, removed the battery, and held the Power On button down for a minute.
When it is connected to the mains, the blue circle around the plug lights up.
Please help -- I am a pensioner and I need this laptop, and I really cannot afford a new one.

    Hello flopez559,
Once you're able to actually boot up, we will be able to run some hardware diagnostic tests from your computer using the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI. Testing for hardware failures. After following the steps from that link, and you need to update the UEFI, click here.
Let me know how this goes.

    Hi @walleyehunter86
Welcome to the HP Support Community! I see that you are having some Bluetooth issues and I will be happy you with that. I will need some additional information from you. What is the product number for your g6? There are several different models in the series. Also, in your Device Manager what do you have listed for a Bluetooth Adapter? You will find it under either Network Adapters or Bluetooth.
