Last Gen APE working with AP Utility 5.1

Hi Guys,
I have an issue here.
At my house I have a new APEn and at my apartment
I have a last gen APE.
When I got the new APEn I installed the new software
(AP Utility and AP Disk Utility)
I was happy to see new software and proceeded to delete
the old AP Admin Utility 4.2
Now when I open AP Utility 5.2 when I get to my apartment
it doesn't recognize the last gen APE at all.
This confuses me because in the help software that came
with 5.2, in the first screen is a picture of the
admin utility open with all the current and last gen
APE and AP express models fully recognized.
So do I need to reinstall the old software or is there
something I'm missing.
Thanks
-FTIWL

The new AirPort Utility is designed to work with either generation of the AirPort Extreme and the Express base stations. When installed, a separate utility specifically for the older AirPorts: Snow or Graphite is also installed.
Try temporarily connecting your computer directly, using an Ethernet cable, to your older AEBS, and then run the AirPort Utility to configure it. Are you able to access it now?

I would like to buy an iPhone for my friend in Iceland.  Two questions: will the phone work with complete utility in Iceland, and if so, what should I do to confirgure it while in the USA so that it can have full utility in Iceland?

Bad idea. There are no supported iPhone carriers in Iceland, thus some features may or may not work. Further, there will be no warranty or support for a US purchased iPhone in Iceland...your friend will be on their own. If you still want to go down this road, make sure you purchase an officially unlocked iPhone(GSM model) directly from Apple.

  • Will my first gen macbook work with ipad 2's face time?

will my first gen macbook work with ipad 2's face time?

As an update, I bought the WNDR3400v2 router and am supremely disappointed with its lack of power - but - the Lenovo W510 DOES work perfectly fine connecting to both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz radios.
The problem is the signal strength only twenty feet away up one floor is dismal (as compared to what it was with the ancient Linksys WRT54G for example).
What bothers me is that Netgear goes to great lengths to hide the power output of the radio so I 'suspect' that it is anemic and I don't (yet anyway) suspect the radio on the W510 laptop. Netgear support would only tell me the EIRP at 2.4GHz is 20dBm, and at 5GHz it's double that. So I can only assume the power output from that. If I assume a 5dBi antenna gain for both frequencies, that results in a power output guesstimate of 15dBm (32mW) at 2.4GHz and double that at, i.e., 18dBm or 64mW, at 5GHz.
The other side of the equation, of course, is the power & gain of the W510 radio & antenna.
Do we have specs for the W510 power output & antenna gain (e.g., a typical laptop is about 50mW (roughly 15 to 18 dBm)  pushed into an antenna with a gain of about 1/2 dBi to about 1 dBi at best, regardless of what the specification sheet intimates)?

  • Anyone got the new iPod touch 2nd gen to work with the fatman itube dock???

    Hi all,
Recently for christmas I've bought a new iPod touch 2nd gen and it's awesome, everything is great about it - in my opinion; except for the fact that I tried to dock it on the fatman itube docking station and found it not to work. Before I used it I was aware that the 2nd gen is unable to charge on the dock however I didn't expect the speakers not to work too. All that happens is a message on the ipod comes up saying unable to charge with this accessory but doesn't put any sound output into the fatman, it just sits there blasting out it's own quiet internal speaker, and also strangely the remote DOES work too???
I've read on the net that maybe resetting the ipod by holding the home+stand-by switch for 10 secs but this resets and does not fix the problem...
There are many photos on the fatman website showing a ipod touch docked so it seems to be sold as working with it but who's to blame for this fault? Apple or fatman?? And does anybody know of a fix for it?
Also I tried my mums ipod nano with the fatman - works fine, and my firmware on the ipod touch is nice and up to date with version 2.2 so I can't see anything else I can do. This was my christmas & birthday present and at the moment I'm quite annoyed that all I can do to it is stick a mini jack in the headphone socket - not ideal since there's no video output or remote control that way!!!
Please give advice if there is any out there,
    Thanks,
    Mrghostie.

This is an Answer for a Possible Solution. It worked for me and is still working. The issue I was having with my 64 bit vista, was Apple Mobile Device Service was not being installed, I dont know why. But I disabled any active running program through MSCONFIG, to allow a clean uninterrupted install of ITUNES 8.02. This allowed AMDS and drives from ITUNES to install. Hope this works for most of you.
APPLE, please review your Support Methods. Re-installing doesnt help an issue that resulted from installing.

  • WILL THE 1st GEN DOCK WORK WITH 2nd GEN NANO?

as the title states.... i think it will, but if anyone knows or has a logical idea, let me know. thanks.

The 2nd Gen Nano does only work with Apples universal dock.
For this product, you will find an adapter.
If you (like me) have purchased a Nano (1st Gen) dock - aka the small dock without audio/video/ir - then the 2nd Gen Nano does NOT fit in. The connector is slightly shifted and due to the round edges, you cannot insert it.
    kind regards
    Tom

  • Will the 7 th gen nano work with my soundgate honpdsdr if I use an adapter cable

  • IPod 3rd gen not working with universal dock

My old iPod 3rd gen (15GB, touch wheel, dock connector) worked great with the old dock, until the latter started scratching noises when outputting audio to my stereo. Still charges the iPod though.
So, I tried old iPod with the universal dock I got for my Touch and found the following problems:
    1. iPod is not being charged through new dock plugged to wall adapter
    2. touch wheel menu control is not working as long as iPod sits in universal dock plugged to the wall adapter - the sound of clicks is all I get, but no control of menu or any other function. In order to select playlist or use any other function through touch wheel or any of 4 buttons I need to unplug power from the dock (it is not charging anyway)
    3. remote is not working at all
    Otherwise playback is OK.
Any ideas what may be the culprit here? Apple states that Universal dock is compatible with 3rd generation of iPod and up.

    Hello Andrew,
What a coincidence as I too have had to find a new dock for my 3rd gen ipod. This week I purchased an Apple AV Connection kit - but found that it would not charge the ipod or respond to the remote. I also bought and tried a Belkin AC adapter with cable to power up the ipod but it too would not charge the ipod.
To see if these units were working I connected them to a friend's brand new ipod classic and both the Belkin and Apple AV Connection Kit worked fine - so there is something different about the 3rd gen ipod.
I'm not sure if this helps you - but at least you know it's not just your ipod that is not working with the new dock.

  • TS1538 Does Ipod Nano (3rd gen) not work with Windows 8?

I have tried all of the uninstall and reinstalls, upgrades, reset of ipod nano, etc.... Cannot get computer or itunes to recognize ipod nano.  Does this device work with Windows 8?

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? It may be of some help: What to do if iPod can't be updated because the firmware file was corrupt or not found

  • I can't syn my 2nd gen nano work with Windows XP Media Centre Edition (SP2)

I recently got a new computer with Windows XP Media Centre Edition (SP2) and a 2nd gen Nano. I have the latest version of itunes but when I plug in the Nano it won't sync.
The Nano is nowhere to be seen in itunes and shows in My Computer with an exclamation mark over it. The only thing it will do is charge.
The Nano syncs on my sisters computer which has Windows XP (SP1) and other devices work on the USB ports on my computer.
Does anyone have a clue what is wrong or what I can do.
I've had the Nano for nearly four months now and it's driving me mad!!!

    Problem solved:
I used driver guide to download usbstor.sys and usbstor.inf then placed these files in my i386 folder. Then when I restarted my PC and connected my iPod I selected the i386 folder as the location to search for drivers. After that it recognised my iPod as a storage device and installed it.

  • How To Get Ipod Touch 2nd Gen to work with 64 bit Vista / Vista Ultimate

Okay, so I just got me a 2nd Gen Ipod Touch for X-Mas..I decided to take a break and get this puppy installed on my HP Tablet. Like many of you, I struggled in frustrations. I hate Apple Support. Notice their method to resolve all of their issues in regards to Itunes not working or Touch not working is to just REINSTALL ITUNES....doesnt solve anything. I have a solution.
For many of you, this may work, for those that are experiencing the same problem, please read below.
    What I am using:
    HP Tablet TX1000
Platform: Windows Vista - Ultimate 64 Bit.
I downloaded the 64 bit version of Itunes 8.02...hoping the thing will work, and still after plugging in my brand new ipod... i get an error message saying.
"The IPOD you are using is not recognized by this version of Itunes, please delete and reinstall with 64 bit version of Itunes."
However I did install the 64 bit version of ITUNES on my Vista. Before you guys delete and reinstall again. Do this first to confirm that my solution will help.
Open up Itunes, go to help, click on Run Diagnostics. Select only, Ipod/Iphone Connectivity tests and hit next.
If your Apple Mobile Device Service is RED, it means its not installed or not activated. Please read apple forums for the reactivation of AMDS. *If you are like me and did that help, and realized its not installed,* something on vista is preventing the install.
    Do the following.
    1) Delete ITUNES Completely. When asked for a restart, click No.
    2) Go to the C:\Program Files\Common Files and look for the Apple Folder and delete that puppy too.
    3) Redownload the 64 bit Installed and save to your desktop. You will need this later. DONT INSTALL NOW.
    4) Go to the Start/Circle Menu and on the bottom, type RUN in the Search and select the Run Program.
    4) Type msconfig and hit enter.
    5) When the Program pops up, in the General, DE-select normal startup and select. SELECTIVE START UP. and deselect/leave blank START UP ITEMS
    6) Move over to the Start Up Tab, DESELECT ANY VIRUS SCAN PROGRAM You Have Running.
    7) Click Apply then OKAY, and Exit that window.
    8) Now RESTART your computer.
    9) Reinstall ITUNES as done before.
    10) Go to HELP...run the diagnostics as before and your Apple Mobile Device should be green Now.
    11) Close that window. Connect your IPOD.
    12) iTUNES should now recognize your IPOD.
After it works. Go back to MSCONFIG...and on General, put Normal Start Up. Click Okay. Restart.
    Hope that works.
If IPOD is still not recognized, then its a driver issue and I dont know.
The problem I was having was due to Apple Mobile Device Services not being installed.
    Sincerely,
    Dr. SkiLLz. M.D.

  • Ipod Shuffle (2nd gen) not working with iTunes 11.0.4

I have my shuffle set to Manually Manage songs, and can view and add to the Ipod through 'On this Ipod' but highlighting songs and hitting the delete key is not working to remove songs. The process works for my other Ipods including my Touch and Classic. I don't want to 'restore' my Ipod because some of the content is only stored on a computer that isn't working at the moment, I just want to get rid of some of it to make way for new stuff.

Actually it turns out I can't even add to it. It claims it's synced to another library (which apparently is true, being as it was last used with my Macbook Pro). Somewhat new question, How do I combine the two libraries, as it's all mine, just on two different computers, one of which doesn't work unless it's in Hard Disk Mode.

  • Will APE work with a Dell and a Macbook?

I am getting ready to move in with my boyfriend. He has a Dell PC and I just bought my first Apple. (An awesome Macbook!) Anyway, I am interested in the APE wirless network but will it work for both his Dell & my Mac? And will we be both be able to use just one printer? How will that work? Will we both need an APE card? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks!

An AirPort Express (AX) creates a wireless network based on the 802.11g standard. This is compatible with Mac and Windows (and other) devices.
And will we be both be able to use just one printer?
Yes. Connect the compatible USB printer to the USB port on the AX.
Will we both need an APE card?
No, neither one of you. Your MacBook has 802.11g support built-in. If your boyfriend's Dell doesn't have 802.11g wireless built-in he will need a USB wireless adapter or PC card wireless adapter.

  • Partition don't work with Disk Utility

    Hi people.
    I need a little help.
Today I was trying to partitioning my HD in 2 parts. I format and install Tiger 10.4.10.
    Actually I have 1 60Gb HD. I'd like to make 2 partitions (30 each).
When I use Disk Utility, I select the HD, go to PARTITION and select 2 partitions. OK.
But when I select the partitions (2 in this case), all options are disable. Can't aprtitioning the HD. the Partition button is disable too.
    What can I do?
    Any help?
    Thanks

    Hi anderson,
you have to do the partition process while you are boot using installer disk and cannot use the macbook os disk utility while you are boot from it.
Restart while you press C with the installer disk #1 is inside the optical, after you select language, go to utilities / disk utility and do the partition.
Be advise that this will destroy your old partition, so back up your data and reinstall your OS X after you manage to split the HD.
    Good Luck.

  • 1st gen ipad work with icloud auto page sync?

understand it takes mtn lion OS to make it work. but before updating from lion, would icloud even recognize my old ipad?
related ques before updating: would icloud put wife's 2 macs in touch?

You can sync any of your Macs with iCloud if they are running Lion OS X 10.7.4 or higher.  You don't need Mountain Lion, although ML provides a higher level of iCloud integration (http://www.apple.com/osx/whats-new/).  This guide shows how to set this up: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/mac.html.
You can set up iCloud with any iOS device running iOS 5 or higher, including all iPads.  If you have an iPad 1, update it to iOS 5.1.1, then set up iCloud as shown here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/ios.html.
