Your apps didn't get erased.  They're still there in your iTunes Library, you just didn't tell iTunes to sync all Apps when you synced.  You have to either choose the specific apps you want to sync or say sync all apps.

  • Every time I sync with iTunes, certain apps copy over

Every time I plug my new iPhone 5s (7.01) into my MacBook to sync with iTunes 11.1, the Pages app starts to copy itself from iTunes to the iPhone.  However, it's already installed on the iPhone.  Upon every sync, it copies over again and again... this is a pain since it takes a long time to sync now because of this.
Actually, this was also happening with Numbers, Keynote, iPhoto and iMovie, but I totally removed these.  Pages will be the next to go if I can't get this sorted out.
I've been syncing iOS devices with iTunes for years and have never seen something like this before.
    Any ideas?  Thanks.

    msteinny,
So i went to the apple store to meet with an apple genius to ask him why my phone's time kept moving up 1 hour everytime I synced my phone. Well he said that he's never seen this problem before, and after a trying a reset and restore he let me exchange my phone. The problem is that when I went to sync my new phone the problem still persisted. They told me it was probably something to do with my computer and its time zone settings.
So I get home and click on my computers clock in the bottom right hand corner to bring up the date and time properties and sure enought my time is correct, the date is correct and the time zone is correct (Eastern Daylight Time). So I look through the different tabs (Date & Time, Time Zone, Internet Time). The first thing I tried to do was to change where my computer syncs its internet time. It was originaly set on NIST time. I then switched it to Windows time, but this didn't do anything. My clock would still change when I synced to itunes. The next thing I tried was fideling around in the Time Zone tabs. I noticed that the box that says "Automatically adjust clock for daylight savings" was unchecked, so I checked it and my computer's time jumped an hour ahead. So I left the box checked but moved my clock one hour back (to the correct time), clicked on apply and left it at that. I synced my iPhone and voila! The time didn't change! It stayed on the correct time! To to make a long story short, make sure that you computer's clock is set on "automatically adjust clock for daylight savings changes, make sure your time zone is correct, and that the time is right when that box is checked. I hope this helps you. I'm glad I got a new phone out of the deal;)

each time i sync with itunes, itunes creates a back up...
    how avoid it ?

Your kidding, right? You really don't have 1gb or so left on your computer? I'm surprised your computer runs at all with that little space left. You really shouldn't exceed 70% of capacity if you expect things to run normally.
Do this, get a thumdrive, copy your iphone backup folder to the thumbdrive & then delete the CONTENTS, not the folder itself from your hard drive. The backup folder can be found here:
    * Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
    * Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
    * Windows Vista: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\

  • WiFi sync with iTunes? App data sync'ed?

    Hi there,
Is there a way to wirelessly sync an iPhone with iTunes? Also, does syncing with iTunes sync program-specific data as well? Just want to make sure I don't loose data when / if I have a problem with the iPhone.
    Justin

No, syncing with iTunes is via USB/dock cable only.
When you sync with iTunes, the 3rd party app data is backed up, along with many other things (but not the apps themselves, music, etc., since those are part of the iTunes Library).

  • Time/date on my iPhone changes every time I sync with iTunes - any fix?

    Hi All,
Every time I sync my phone with my computer, the time and date on my phone changes - it goes to one week behind, and about 10 hours earlier than it actually is. My computer calendar has the right time (NYC time zone), the calendar support settings on my iPhone are set to NYC time zone - what could be happening? Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • Iphone takes LONG time to sync with iTunes?

    Hi all,
I have and Iphone 3G with 8GB pretty much stuffed, I have only 200MB free and 1000 audio, 50 podcast video, 60 photo and TONS of apps..
I just check how long it would take to sync with my PC yeasterday... 10 hours... is that normal for a backup and sync? how can I speed up the process?
    thanks

I'm having the same problem. It's definitely the backup portion. I located my backup folder, and it had over 20k files! I tried deleting the folder and backing up again, and have yet to complete a full backup (they're just too long - I'm constantly having to stop the process to take the phone with me). The latest one was 2 hours and only half done (with 8k files in the folder). I did have facebook and linkedin on the phone, so I've removed those and restarted the backup. It doesn't seem much different so far, but I think I may leave it overnight to see what happens. Could it be that the files (like caches or whatever) used by facebook and linkedin are still on the iphone even w/o the apps? How can I clean up my iphone w/o resetting it completely (I don't want to lose the data on there and I don't currently have a complete backup - though maybe after tonight I will).
Any other apps you know of that have this issue? I can't believe Apple just lets this type of sloppy file management occur.

  • Iphone 5s won't sync with itunes on windows 8 - i can see all the tunes in there, artwork etc but they won't play

    Hi
Hope one of you can help, thanks in advance.......
    windows 8/iphone 5s/latest IOS
I've synced my iphone with my pc and backed up too and when i go into music on my iphone i can see all the tunes listed on there including album covers etc but when i go to play one of the tunes nothing happens or sometimes the phone goes kind of crazy and seems to scroll through every album (visually) on the phone and then stop?! still without playing any actual music?
In the apple store they told me to un-sync music and then re-sync which i did but this hasn't worked. although when i had un-synced and went into my phone to check whether music had been removed it was still there (but still didn't play as described above)
so really i want to know either 1) how to properly delete all the songs from the phone and then re-install them or 2) just get them to sync properly!
Other info - i transfered itunes to a new pc recently and up until just now, i couldn't play these tunes on itunes on my PC, they opened in some terrible microsoft thing - but i just changed the file associations inside windows and now they play great - just not on my phone as described above - maybe this has something to do with the problem?
Also, this only applies to music copied from cd-> itunes on pc 1 ->itunes on pc 2-> iphone.   songs purchased from itunes store work fine
    Thanks for reading

"I was thinking I would just connect my iPhone and all of my music and other stuff would transfer to the new computer. "
Not true. The music and pic sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
You really should transfer everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of your computer. Since you do not have access to the old computer, then use your backup copy of the old computer.
If for some reason you have failed to maintain a backup copy of your computer ( not good), then you would have to transfer itunes purchased as described earlier. Any other itunes content would be lost.
You can e-mail photo library pics to yourself, but they will not be of the original quality.
Before syncing, enter at least one unique contact and calendar entry on the computer. When you first sync, then you should get the option to merge the data.

  • IOS 7 messes up my libraries and playlists every time I sync with iTunes!!

Every time I sync my iphone with my itunes I end up missing music from my device, even the one bought at the itunes store with my device. I can recover it from my itunes library but for god's sake this is annoying!!! EVERY TIME!!!
I tried to contact support but they want to charge me for the event because they are tying it either to my computer or my iphone and both are more than 1 year old. What is this??? I didn't ask for you to chagne my device's iOS to v.7 which is a piece of crap! And iOS7 is less than a year old as well as Maveriks!!! Where is Apple's guarantee that its products will work??
I hope someone can help me with this problem becasue, obviously, the company that manufactures these products and these devices is not willing to. I MISS STEVE JOBS and the old Apple!! When they cared about their costumers.
Thanks in advance for the help!

  • Time & Date scrambled each time I sync with iTunes...

Each time I connect my iPhone to iTunes, it crashes my date and time on the iPhone, whereas the date & time of the PC are OK (and so are they on the iPhone before I connect it to the PC).
The funniest part - so to speak is that there is no logic in the way date and times are changed, it varies

  • Iphone 4 is having trouble syncing with iTunes. I keep getting a message sayign the phone is linked to a different itunes library. my old laptop was stolen, is that the problem? how do i solve it?

    Hi,
my iphone 4 was originally linked to my itunes library via my old laptop which just got stolen. I have brought a new laptop and authorised it - so now i can see my itunes library on it, but when i plug in my i phone it says that it is registered to a different library and that if i sync i will loose everything. How do i solve this problem? is it beacuse i'm using a new laptop, or something else?
The big thing for me is that i can not loose my contacts, diary etc information. When the error message comes up it says erasing and syncing will clear the phone - does that mean EVERYTHING, or just music and apps? if just music and apps i can live with that because i don't have any music on there yet and the apps i guess i could buy again if they aren't backed up.
My iphone is running on v 4, and the macair is brand new - so maybe there is a software problem? i have tried to update the version on my phone but agian i get a message saying that i will loose data if i proceed so i want to make sure everything is backed up and synced before i go ahead with that.
    Thanks guys

    Check your mac's Serial Number.
Some people have problems with missing serial numbers on their Macs and that's the message you get when this happens.
Click on the Apple at the top left of the screen, open "About this Mac" and click on "More Info". You should see a list with information about your Macbook Air. Check that on the Serial Number field you have your Mac's Serial. If you have "SystemSerial#" written instead then that's your problem.
You can re-enter your serial number if you have a USB CD drive, it's not very straightforward but I can walk you through it if you need it.
    Cheers

  • HT201269 Best Buy started the setup assistant on my new iPhone 5 and now I can't make it sync with iTunes.  How can I reset and start over?

I bought an iPhone 5 at Best Buy, and they started the setup assistant process.  Now I can't go back and start over so I can sync my phone to my iTunes account.  I have an old iPhone 3GS and didn't use the iCloud.  I backed up to my computer.  And now I can't reset my iPhone 5 to sync to my iTunes.
    Help.

I purchased a iPhone 5, and after completing a backup of my old iPhone 3GS, I in error selected Set Up as a New iPhone in the Setup Assistant.
I connected to iTunes and did a Restore iPhone, which set the iPhone5 back to factory defaults, and I was able to restart the Setup Assistant, and following the apple support instructions, restored from my 3GS backup and synced with my iTunes account.  The Restore kept my phone number intact.
I was worried that I would lose the setup of my phone number that was done in the store, but everything worked perfectly.

It turns on fine, appears to charge but will not hold a charge..It won't sync with my Mac Book Pro, iMac, PC or Netbook.  Do you think it is the battery?

What happens when you try to sync? Error messages?
