Latest AIR update going application to crash.

There is a small debug code:
package
    import flash.display.Sprite;
    import flash.events.Event;
    import flash.events.FileListEvent;
    import flash.filesystem.File;
    import flash.net.FileFilter;
    public class AIROpenFilesTest extends Sprite
        public function AIROpenFilesTest()
            init();
        private function init():void {
            var f:File = File.desktopDirectory;
            var filter:FileFilter = new FileFilter("*.*", "*.*");
            f.browseForOpenMultiple("Open files...", [filter]);
            f.addEventListener(FileListEvent.SELECT_MULTIPLE, onSelectFiles);
            f.addEventListener(Event.CANCEL, onBrowseCanceled);
        private function onBrowseCanceled(event:Event):void
            var f:File = event.target as File;
            f.removeEventListener(FileListEvent.SELECT_MULTIPLE, onSelectFiles);
            f.removeEventListener(Event.CANCEL, onBrowseCanceled);
        private function onSelectFiles(event:FileListEvent):void
            var f:File = event.target as File;
            f.removeEventListener(FileListEvent.SELECT_MULTIPLE, onSelectFiles);
            f.removeEventListener(Event.CANCEL, onBrowseCanceled);
            trace("\nFiles selection amount: " + event.files.length);
Before latest update it worked well (I could open up to 1024 files at once). But now if I going to open 260+ files then application will crash!!! How to fix it in code? When you will fix this issue?

Could you please share the device with OS version you are using.
Regards,
Nimit

  • Adobe Air updater goes Error #1034

    Hi,
    we've packaged an air application with an old version of air runtime that is automatically deployed to our customer computer.
    Everything goes well on install, but when we launch our application, it logically propose our customer to update to the last version of Air.
    The problem is that during the update process of air runtime (our application is still running), we have an error #1034 appearing.
    the Adobe Air Updater logs are the following :

    The most disturbing is that if we close our application and run the updater alone, everything goes well, and our application is running perfectly.
    Anyone have a clue on what is happening?
    Thanks a lot
    Antoine

    I've seen this error before in a few posts, but I don't think I've seen a solution or exact cause.  Are you seeing this on every system you try or is it isolated to particular machines?  If it's occurring everywhere, would you be willing to send me ([email protected]) your installer so I can give it a try?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Latest Secuity Update kills twain support in Photoshop

    After installing the latest security update, Photoshop Elements 3 crashes at launch when it gets to "Building Twain Menu..."
    Others have had the same problem and I found a work around on MacFixIt: move the twain plugin out of the Plugins folder. This kills the Import From Twain Device function so you'll have to use ImageCapture, EpsonScan, VueScan or another utility to scan.
    iMac 2.16Ghz 20" Intel Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Epson CX5000 All-In-One

    I don't think this is specific to the security update. The Adobe TWAIN driver is notoriously buggy and ditching it has long been one of Adobe's solutions for when the program won't launch at all. Most scanners that allow you to do this have their own scanner plug-ins (Like canon) that supersede this one anyway. It's really no big deal.

  • Applications crashing after latest security update??

    So i was prompted to download the new security update and the newest version of iTunes today. i do so, and upon start-up, i open adium and try to chat with a friend. before it could even open the IM window, adium chrashes. I updated adium and it still does the same. I then attempted to see if there were additional updates and the Software Updater also crashes instantly. i havent noticed any problems with other programs yet, but can anyone help me out on this one?
    and the problems didn't start until AFTER the security update was installed

    Some general advice on updating:
    It is worth noting that it is an extreme rarity for updates to cause upsets to your system, as they have all been extensively beta-tested, but they may well reveal pre-existing ones, particularly those of which you may have been unaware. If you are actually aware of any glitches, make sure they are fixed before proceeding further.
    So before you do anything else:
    If you can, make a full backup first to an external hard disk. Ideally you should always have a bootable clone of your system that enables you to revert to the previous pre-update state.
    Turn off sleep mode for both screen and hard disk.
    Disconnect all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    1. Repair Permissions (in Disk Utility)
    2. Verify the state of your hard disk using Disk Utility. If any faults are reported, restart from your install disk (holding down the C key), go to Disk Utility, and repair your startup disk. Restart again to get back to your startup disk.
    At least you can now be reasonably certain that your system does not contain any obvious faults that might cause an update/upgrade to fail.
    3. Download the correct version of the COMBO update from the Apple download site.
    The Combo updater of Leopard 10.5.8 can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate
    If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall.
    Full details about the 10.5.8 update here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3606
    More information on using Software Updater here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24901?viewlocale=en_US
    Using the Combo updater ensures that all system files changed since the original 10.5.0 are included, and any that may have been missed out or subsequently damaged will be repaired. The Delta updater, although a temptingly smaller download, only takes you from the previous version to the new one, i.e. for example from 10.5.7 to 10.5.8. Software Update will generally download the Delta updater only. The preferable Combo updater needs to be downloaded from Apple's download site.
    Now proceed as follows:
    4. Close all applications and turn off energy saving and screensaver.
    5. Unplug all peripherals except your keyboard and mouse.
    6. Install the update/upgrade. Do not under any circumstances interrupt this procedure. Do not do anything else on your computer while it is installing. Be patient.
    7. When it ask for a restart to complete the installation, click restart. This can take longer than normal, there are probably thousands of files to overwrite and place in the correct location. Do nothing while this is going on.
    8. Once your Mac is awake, repair permissions again, and you should be good to go!
    If your Mac seems slightly sluggish or ‘different’, perform a second restart. It can’t hurt and is sometimes efficacious!
    9. Open a few of your most used applications and check that all is OK. In this connection please remember that not all manufacturers of third party applications and plug-ins, add-ons, haxies etc, will have had time to do any necessary rewrites to their software to make them compliant with the latest version of your operating system. Give them a weeks or two while you regularly check their websites for updates. This applies particularly to plug-ins for Safari 4.
    N.B. Do not attempt to install two different updates at the same time as each may have different routines and requirements. Follow the above recommendations for each update in turn.
    Lastly, Apple's own article on the subject of Software Update may also be useful reading:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106695
    If you are updating Safari (or just have):
    Input Managers from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If you have installed an OS update and Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level /Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
    So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari.
    Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party add-on.
    Additional tips on software installation here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106692
    To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
    Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • /Library/InputManagers
    • ~/Library/InputManagers
    especially prior to system updates (they can always be added back one-by-one later).

  • Software Updates causing application crashes

    Hello,
    I just installed a group of updates including security 2010-4, safari 5, itunes 9.2 and java 7.
    Immediately I am having issues with application crashes. I am trying to run inkscape which runs under x11.
    Initially it wouldn't even start up. After I repaired permissions and verified the disk and did a couple restarts it will start but crashes as soon as I try to use it (perform a copy and paste for example).
    I am desperate to get back to work and I really do appreciate any help.
    Thanks

    The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
    1. You don't own another Mac.
    If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
    If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
    To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
    If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    2. You do own another Mac.
    If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can boot from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
    Once booted in Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
    After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
    Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
    If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
    If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.

    For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
    The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
    Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
    If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

    One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
    PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
    If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
    Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
    Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...
    /private/var/run/StartupItems
    /Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/StartupItems
    /System/Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    Open Console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem  & next startup for clues.

  • After the latest Security Update 2012-001 (Mac OS X 10.6.8) my Adobe Photoshop CS 8, Dreamweaver 8, and InDesign CS programs crash when I try to save a file.

    After the latest Security Update 2012-001 (Mac OS X 10.6.8) my Adobe Photoshop CS 8, Dreamweaver 8, and InDesign CS programs crash when I try to save a file. HELP!!!

    Howdy,
    Apparently some are reporting that this causes the older PowerPC (PPC) applications that are supported in 10.6 via 'Rosetta' to crash upon attempting to open/save/print using any dialog box, or fail in other similar ways such as simply not printing or quitting, or freezing/hanging/crashing of the application.
    I have read of some companies that have indeed submitted proper bug reports to Apple, but that is not a guarantee of a bug-fix being issued.
    You might wish to read:
    http://www.macintouch.com/readerreports/snowleopard/index.html#d02feb2012
    If you are unsure if you are still using PowerPC apps, if the application is currently running, look under the 'Activity Monitior' (in Applications -> Utilities), or alternatively you could check in the System Profiler, Applications. Check the column "Type".
    Here is a fairly simple way you can restore you system and restore you applications functionality again, if you don't have a recent clone or good Time Machine backup that you can restore from. If you do, restore from your backup prior to having installed the Security Update 2012-001.
    Time Machine restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1427
    If you are restoring a backup made by a Mac to the same Mac
    With your backup drive connected, start up your Mac from the Lion recovery partition (Command-R at startup) or Mac OS X v10.6 installation disc. Then use the "Restore From Time Machine Backup" utility. Select the backup prior to your issues, and it will be restored back to the state it was in at that time.
    If you can't easily restore from a backup, you can instead do the following:
    - You first start by reinstalling your OS X 10.6.x, this will preserve all your user data, your applications, no worries there.
    - Then install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 (links provided below)
    - Make sure you're printers are showing up correctly in your system preferences, if not, re-add the printers
    - Then finally, run the Apple Software Update (by pulling down the Apple Menu), and install any and all remaining updates, except do not then re-install the Security Update 2012-001. It is possible that you may have to reboot after installing some of the updates, and you may even need to run it a 2nd time to make sure that you've got all updates, except NOT the Security Update 2012-001.

  • My new MacBook Air won't install the latest software update.  How do I fix that?

    I can't get my new MacBook Air to install the latest software update.
    It keeps telling me that an "unexpected error" occurred.
    How do I fix this?

    Your posting above says you're running Lion (Version 10.7.3).
    Going to the current version of Mountain Lion (Version 10.8.2) requires a $20 purchase (upgrade fee) from the App Store.
    Further, if your iMac is older than mid-2007, it cannot be upgraded to Mountain Lion.  Only mid-2007 or newer iMacs can handle it.

  • Web Application suddenly crash (Citrix is not Responding, Citrix stoped Working) - Windows Update Dec 2014

    After the distribution of the latest windows update on Dec 2014 we started to face irregular behavior with our Citrix ICA Client V12 which is used to connect to our online applications. The web application suddenly crash and windows provides an error message
    as below. The event viewer shows the below log.
    We suspect that it was duo to Windows update, we have tried this fix (https://support.microsoft.com/kb/3025390) but with no luck.
    Any help is appreciated.
