Latest Server Update CAN'T COPY TO SERVER FOLDERS Error Code -36

I've recently upgraded to the latest OS on my Mac Mini Server...which required an upgrade to the latest Mac Server. I have to say that it's been nothing but frustrations.
Of all of them, one of the most lingering is issues with copying files to the server from a user's desktop Mac. Namely, mine, the administrator with open permissions as wide as they allow.
Every time I drag a file over I get this:
That's when I copy one file. Now, the copy fully works but this happens regardless.
Worse, when I copy over multiple files I get this error as well and only the top file in the copy-from folder gets successfully copied. In short, I have no way to copy over multiple files. It's requiring me to drag each one and then clear out the error message, which frankly is not possible given I often need to copy hundreds of files from desktop to server.
PLEASE, some one help.

P.S. Some of the other issues in the "upgrade" to this server have been complete folders providing very different folder content and permissions. I've had to complete remove share points on the server and drag over all content and share the new location. I've also had to delete and rebuild users and groups for the entire server. What a waste of time.

Can't copy a folder, getting error code -41

I can't copy or duplicate a folder. Doesn't seem to matter where I try to copy it (through finder). I seem to have the appropriate permissions. I checked disk utility and it said the disk was okay. Here is the full error:
*The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -41).*
I'm using Mac OS X Server 10.6.5 but this forum seemed more appropriate given the issue. The size of the folder is around 260MB. The folder is a grails project.
Can anyone please help me? This is really frustrating.

Yes, "cp -Rp" will treat ACLs properly and not duplicate like Finder, "cp -R" just ignores them, whatever works... but file a bug if you want this fixed (bugreporter.apple.com)
For those who want to fix their files that have tons of ACL you can kill them all, make a textedit (text only Command-Shift-T), paste this in:
#!/bin/bash
IFS=$'\t\n'
find "${@}" -exec chmod -N {} \;
Open terminal and add the execute bit with: chmod +x <drag file from finder into terminal> <Enter>
Then run with the name of the path as the argument... for more detail

For the troubleshooters:
I got it down to the bare minumum on a clean OS X Server install, not AD bound or anything extraneous. Just AFP running on a server with an IP with forward reverse lookup. I made a share, added admin (501) to the ACL (as Read only), touched a file and duplicated it in Finder, locally on the server.
10.6-10.6.2 functioned fine. 10.6.3 and 10.6.4 added bizarre behavior where a WRITE ACE was added to the ACL, but the ACEs weren't "stacking up", 10.6.5 and 10.6.6 added the redundant ACEs that when you tried copying/duplicating packages and apps with Finder would result in insane amounts of duplication, try Chess.app you'll get 18 ACEs deep in one Finder copy! 3rd copy fails with Error -41
So get reporting folks, 10.6.7 might be the last Snow Leopard update, and even if it isn't I'm getting pretty tired of dealing with this bug and don't want to wait until 10.6.8! So I just filed my bug #9160099 (another poster referenced his bug #8816661, that 343,438 bug reports later!)

Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times.

Make sure the EHD is formatted OS X Extended (journaled) and run Disk Utilty on the EHD and repair the disk. If that fails to help I'd try the following:
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button,
navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the external HD as the location of the newly rebild library.
Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2: Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.

Are you trying to use the auto updater? Forget it.
Download the update manually from the Adobe site to your desktop and run it also manually from there.

Let us distinguish clearly the catalog file (ending with .LRCAT) from the entirety of the photographs.
I am saying you need to copy the catalog file (ending with .LRCAT) to the desktop computer, and then open it. Assuming the drive has the same letter on both computers (assuming you are using Windows), then you will see your collections properly.

It's now confirmed that iWeb and iDVD have been discontinued by Apple. This is evidenced by the fact that new Macs are shipping with iLife 11 installed but without iWeb and iDVD.
On June 30, 2012 MobileMe will be shutdown. HOWEVER, iWeb will still continue to work but without the following:

I found that if I published my site to a folder on my hard drive and then uploaded with a 3rd party FTP client subscriptions to slideshows and the RSS feed were broken. If I published directly from iWeb to the FPT server those two features continued to work correctly.
There's another problem and that's with iWeb's popup slideshows. Once the MMe servers are no longer online the popup slideshow buttons will not display their images.

However, Roddy McKay and I have figured out a way to modify existing sites with those slideshows and iWeb itself so that those images will display as expected once MobileMe servers are gone. In addition the iLife suite of applications offered on disc is now a discontinued product and the remaining supported iApps will only be available thru the App Store from now on.
HOWEVER, the iLife 11 boxed version that is still currently available at the online Apple Store (Store button at the top of the page) and those copies still on the shelves of retailers will include iWeb and iDVD.

Can you open the CC Desktop Application Manager. Click on the cog icon top right corner. Then on Account and see what version you are running?
If less than 1.6.0.393 then you need to update the Desktop Application Manager. I think that _might_ fix your error 50.

I faced the same problem and i fixed it by going to applications - utility - disk utility and fixing the errors.

This is likely a problem with the drive itself. This error indicates unspecified I/O errors with the drive, which can be from a hardware fault, or a formatting issue. If the drive has valuable data on it, then try connecting it to another PC to get the data off, and then try fully partitioning and formatting the drive with Disk Utility. If this corrects the error then you should be able to use the drive again as it was likely a formatting issue, but if the problem continues then it is likely a hardware fault and the best solution is to be safe and replace the drive.

I am backing up on two different drives...one is on the time machine...the one I am having trouble with is a passport that I back up manually. I have not gotten a notice from the backup on the time machine that there is an error.
Before this error occured....the "event" that the photo was in emptied without me doing anything. This has happened before, when the total number of pictures that I have downloaded for the day, the events emptied overnight without me doing anything (????????)

Nothing wrong. AAM/ AUM is just being a pussy. Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall your apps, try again. also consider downloading upsdates manualyl from the Download section here on this site.

Almost every night I can't connect to PSN. Error code: ce-33987-0
After multiple PS4 restarts and my router restarts - it connects. Sometimes it connects after few hours without doing anything at all. So I couldn't find any pattern.
My router and internet is perfect - all other devices at home has perfect internet connection at full speed.
I tried all the tricks I've found in this forum (make my PS4 primary, connect to wifi and connect back to cable, do not turn off PS4 and leave in standby, check NAT type etc.).
But nothing helped.
Connection test shows NAT Type 2 which is perfectly OK I guess.
Is this PSN that unstable or what?
How should I solve this problem?

I've been having the same problem for over a week, but I think I found the solution to it.Firstly, my internet setup is an old netgear modem-router combo hooked up to a new TP-Link (n) router. The netgear is set to modem only mode. My ps4 is connected wirelessly downstairs.For about 3 months, my ps4 was working normally with no problems, but about a week ago this error code started popping up inconsistently. Sometimes everything was fine, most times it wasn't.I isolated the problem to the PS4-Router communication, as my ps3 (and everything else at home) worked perfectly with no changes to the setup. Possible Solution- Today, I factory reset both devices (Netgear and TP-Link routers) and set them up to the point where they worked normally (with my phone, laptop, etc).Then, I enabled UPnP on BOTH devices, and also Forwarded all the necessary ports for my PS4 on the TP-Link router.I changed the wireless channel on the TP-Link to [1] from [6].I also changed the wireless channel width on it from [auto] to [20mhz]. This automatically reduced my max Tx rate to [130mbps] from [300mbps]. (I suggest doing this manually if it doesn't change automatically).I rebooted the TP-Link router, and started up my ps4 after a few seconds. The system loaded perfectly, PSN signed in instantly, and I played an hour on BF4 with no problems. I also restarted my PS4 again to see whether the settings would 'Stick'. They did, it still ran perfectly. I won't play again for a few hours, but I will report here if it does/doesn't work. Good luck trying my solution, Hope it works for you.Happy Gaming
