Latest version of Content Server

Hi All
I need some assitance in understanding what the latest version of the Content Server is. I know 640 is probably the one, but what confuses me is the content Server Service on SICF on the ERP system for example. Now, does that mean the content server is integrated to the system or do we still need to install a stand alone Content Server.  What other way can we implment DMS without the use of the content server, i.e. can the portal knowlege Management achieve the same? if so, what are the prerequisites and pros and cons?
Thanks
Ronny

Response to your second question: Portal Knowledge Management is a stripped down version of DMS. It provides basic content management features with embedded asynchronous and synchronous collaboration(review, rating, feedback, discussion etc).
SAP DMS (with content, cache server setup) typically cater to a long term Document Management strategy involving designs, drawings, technical specifications etc with rich features like Markup and redlining,Document life cycle definition, Distribution strategies, Digital signature, SAP R/3 Object linking,CAD integration etc. The storage options in SAP DMS are:
1. 'DMS Storage' option(may store in SAP DB,Vault,RFC Archive), you can store upto 2 originals/documents and 99 additional files.
2. 'kPro Storage' option(may store in SAP DB,HTTP Content Server), you can store 'n' originals/documents and 'n' additional files
NOTE:
HTTP content server
Either the SAP Content Server or a third-party content server can be used.
SAP database
If you want to store your documents in the SAP database, you need a content table. All your documents are stored in this table in the SAP database. The content table can be cross-client or client-specific.
RFC storage system
RFC is used for storing documents in the context of SAP ArchiveLink, the Archive Development Kit (ADK), or an application that uses SAP ArchiveLink or the ADK.
Logical repositoryThis storage type allows access to different physical repositories, independently of the client and the system ID.
Structure repositoryThe structure repository is only used in the SAP Knowledge Warehouse environment.
The content server is available for free on SAP marketplace for exisiting SAP customers. This needs to be setup on a separate hardware(specifications can be arrived at after contentserver sizing). The storage limit using content server can be scaled upto 50+ terabytes of data.

  • What is the latest version of SQL Server which ColdFusion 7 supports?

What is the latest version of SQL Server which ColdFusion 7 supports? For example can Cold Fusion 7 connect to SQL Server 2012 or 2008 without any problem? Thanks

First things first, I would advise you to apply the upgrades, if you haven't yet done so. I remember Coldfusion MX7 to be quite buggy. We could not wait to apply the upgrades and hotfixes. Version MX7.0.2 turned out to be the lasting upgrade. We used MySQL, however, not SQL Server.
You can get the information you want from Adobe Support. But you can think it through yourself. The way I think about it is as follows.
Coldfusion is an application that includes database functionality. I may therefore assume that Coldusion would be backwardly compatible in its support of database server versions. In other words, a new version of Coldfusion, say 9 or 10, would work with an older database server like SQL Server 2005.
However, I would not expect a previous version of Coldfusion, say MX7, to be compatible with newer database server versions like SQL Server 2008 and SQL Server 2012. Even if someone told me they were compatible, I would still expect such a set-up to be an accident waiting to happen.

  • Which PDF-version on Content Server 4

In what PDF-version must the PDF-files be saved, in order to work properly on ACS4?
I have noticed that PDFs that are uploaded in version 1.6 (Actobat 7.x) does not show the first cover image, but a blank page instead, when downloaded (as a library loan for example).
PDFs in versions below 1.6 show the cover image as they should.
I have created the cover images from Photoshop CS3 and saved them as Photoshop PDF - then added to the PDF-file.
On Content Server 3, all PDFs had to be saved in version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x) to work, but I hoped that would be different in ACS4.

  • OS Upgrade on Content Server

    Hi,
We are using Content Server 6.30 Installed on Linux 3EL, DMS Installed on ECC6 system.
We are using StorageType=FSS(File System Storage) on Content Server.
Now We are planning to Upgrade OS on Content Server.
Now Issue is I searched in PAM for suitable OS for our current content server but there I found for MAXdb and SAP db but not for storage type FSS.
Please suggest for which OS release we should go for our Content Server OS Upgrade and do we need to do anything after Upgrade for our storage(FSS) after Upgrade.
    Please suggest.
    Regards,
    Shivam

    Hi Shivam,
you just need to make sure that your operating system version that you want to upgrade to is supported for the version of Content Server that you are using.
You don't have to do anything from the file system side after the upgrade.
I'd also recommend that you use the latest version of the Content Server - version 6.40. As you have an existing version; you just need to install the latest content server patches to upgrade to this 6.40 version of the Content Server.
    KR,
    Karen.

Please let me know whether my version of content server allows us to package a eBook for lending if so where can i find the option for lending the eBook.

  • Pointers for upgrading to new version of SQL Server?

    We're running SAP Business One 2007 A (8.00.181) SP:00 PL:49
At the moment we have a dedicated server computer to host the SQL databases for this product. The server computer is 32-bit Windows Server 2003. The database server is SQL Server 2005 32-bit. This server was purchased in fall 2006 and had a fast disk subsystem for its day: 5x 15K UltraSCSI hard drives in RAID5.
We have several company databases, some of which are in the 12 - 13GB range in size. There are occasions where two or more of these large-ish databases may be in use simultaneously. Since SQL Server on the current server limits itself to 2GB RAM usage, I suspect there is a lot of paging to disk when multiple company databases are open, with a major hit on performance.
Windows Server 2003 goes end-of-life on July 15, 2015. SQL Server 2005 end-of-life is April 14, 2016. As part of a refresh of company IT infrastructure, we're considering replacing various physical servers with virtual servers. Ideally, we'd like to migrate the backend to a current version of SQL Server on a current Windows server OS, and also move to a 64-bit platform so we can allocate more RAM to SQL Server. We may also host virtual hard drive file(s) on SSD if/where that makes sense.
    What I've found so far:
All the current SAP databases are Compatibility Level 90 (native SQL Server 2005)
The latest version of SQL Server that supports Compatibility Level 90 is SQL Server 2012. SQL Server 2014 drops support for 90. I assume it's a bad idea to change the database compatibility level?
If for any reason we have to stick with SQL Server 2005, the latest version of Windows that supports that is Server 2008 R2. That's not ideal, since in a perfect world we would want all virtual machines running Server 2012 R2
Moving to a 64-bit version of SQL Server requires a so-called "side-by-side" upgrade, it's not possible to use a SQL Server upgrade wizard
The VAR we used to install and configure the product in 2006 is no longer in business so we'd like (if possible) to do this ourselves. I'm a software developer familiar with client-server development, SSMS etc. so I feel reasonably confident in undertaking a side-by-side upgrade.
So, assuming we'd like to migrate the backend to 64-bit SQL Server 2012, can anyone offer any pointers, experiences, or things to watch out for?
There are also some services running on the current server computer, which I'm assuming will also need to be migrated:
    SAP Business One Integration Service
SAP Business One License Manager 2007
    SAP Business One Messaging Service
I get the feeling other people may have asked similar questions before, but I couldn't find any relevant posts.
Thanks in advance for any help.

You probably need to do an installer file clean up for Apple Software Update with the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility.
Here is a method for removal and clean up of iTunes and related programs. You might get away with just doing the Apple Software Update part rather than the whole thing. I would try just removing and cleaning ASU first.
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program.
To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install Cleanup
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
    Vista
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • pcs:insert not working correctly in Content Server 6.0

    Hello,
I'm having a difficult time getting the <pcs:insert> tag working in Content Server 6.0. In the previous version of Content Server, I used <pcs:insert expr="mycontentitem"></pcs:insert> and the content item that I want inserted shows up fine. Now when I try it in Content Server 6.0, the inserted (child) content item tries to reference the parent's content item variables, giving me nothing. Also, I have tried using <pcs:insert path="mycontentitem"> to the same result.
Any help, or example of a working <pcs:insert> for Content Server 6.0 would be a lifesaver!
    Thank you,
    PK

We have the same problem with "INSERT" tags not working in the newest version CS6.0. I am a bit surprised that anyone had replied to your post to give us some explanations or directions how to solve the problem. It looks as a serious problem to me.

  • ADEPT and Content Server 4 --- MIA?

I sent about three emails by now to the email addresses listed on the product pages for content server and adept, but never received an email back. there is no telephone number listed for them on the sales page. (maybe the product should be called INEPT, instead of ADEPT.)
so, I decided to call. I literally was passed around 8 different phone attendants, none of whom really had any idea of what these two products are, nor any idea who to call.
it is funny that I have to post to a forum to learn how one can get access to these services.
    do they exist?
do they have a phone number?
do they have working email addresses?
    does ADEPT have pricing info?
is there an educational or individual-end-user version of Content Server?
    help appreciated.
    /iaw

    Dear Mr. Welch,
I apologize for the trouble you have had with reaching someone to discuss Content Server 4 and ADEPT. Content Server 4 was just released by Adobe in North America and will release the server worldwide on October 10th (details including a User Manual can be found at http://www.adobe.com/products/contentserver/). Pricing for Content Server 4 is as follows:
    $5000 upfront fee
$1500 per year for support/maintenance/upgrades plus access to
    Digital Signing Service
$.22 per signed license for permanent transactions (non-expiring)
$.08 per signed license for expiring transactions (expiring between
    0 and 60 days)
There are Solution Provider rates for companies that user Adobe Content Server 4 to enable content sales/loans to third-party websites.
You can contact me directly at [email protected] or 212-471-0981 if you would like to discuss further or have any additional questions.
I apologize again for troubles in getting additional information about this product.

  • Adobe Content Server

I am wondering if Adobe Content Server is phased out or not.
And if not: What is the price? Is it impossible to get this information?

We configured Adobe Content Server 3.0.1 and created one store and one library, when we want to lend a eBook i am unable to locate the option for lending the eBook in "Availbility" tag page of "Books" Tab when i set the "Adjust" option to value "Loan".
Please let me know whether my version of content server allows us to package a eBook for lending if so where can i find the option for lending the eBook.

  • Suggested User base on Adobe Content Server

I was trying to get some statistics for the supported user base for Adobe Content server 4.01. We have one server Dual Core processor with 4 GB RAM on windows 2008 server. I would like to know what is the load that this server can support during document fulfilment process. We are expecting around 300000 users to download documents from Adobe Content Server in next couple of years and we are trying to see what are ways that we can scaleup the infrastructure to support huge user downloads.
It would be really helpful if some one shares us the concurrent user load supported by Adobe Content Server

  • SAP HTTP Content Server and ECC 6  to be installed on same Windows system?

    Hi Gurus:
I have ECC 6 (IDES) running on a Windows 2003 server already.  I plan to install the SAP HTTP Content server on the same machine/same operating system.   I will be the only user, just testing it out and learning things myself.
    Is this advisable?
Also does anyone know the latest set of Content Server DVDs/CDs to download ?

    Deepak:
    Thanks a lot.
My Content Server is running OK now.
Two repositories are created: one is DMS, one is on ArchLink (ArchiveLink).

  • What is the latest prod. supported MaxDB Version w. SAP Content Server 6.40

What is the most actual supportet MaxDB Version when using with SAP Contentserver 6.40?
In PAM Page 5 (of the Powerpoint) the official Version should be 7.5.
In "install and Upgrade" NW 7.0 there is the "NW 7.0 Presentation - MaxDB Release 7.6.03"  available for Download and the "MaxDB RDBMS 7.7.06 Build 10 - Windows Server on x64 64bit "
Does that mean, that the 7.7 Version is official supported for Production?
Searched the Notest but found no answer for that.
    Ulrich
... half an hour later ...
just found MAXDB 7.7 Installation which suggest the 7.7 is the latest official supported.
    could that be the answer?
