Launch batch job thru SOAP call : no execution, connection OK.

Hello,
I am experiencing some problems launching batch jobs thru Web Services. I have added batch job "EPN_Test_Webservices" to the Web Services and enabled the Job Attributes.
When I try to launch the job thru a SOAP call, I get a reply but the job is not executed.
This is the SOAP envelope:
<SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:SOAP-ENC="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
     <SOAP-ENV:Body>
          <m:EPN_Test_Webservices_Job xmlns:m="http://www.businessobjects.com/DataIntegrator/ServerX.xsd">

                    <job_system_profile>String</job_system_profile>
                    <sampling_rate>10</sampling_rate>
                    <auditing>true</auditing>
                    <recovery>true</recovery>
                    <job_server>JS_ict</job_server>
                    <trace>String</trace>
               </job_parameters>
          </m:EPN_Test_Webservices_Job>
     </SOAP-ENV:Body>
</SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
This is the reply I get:
<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

               <pid>3888</pid>
               <cid>13</cid>
          </BatchJobResponse>
     </soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>
When I use the "ping" operation I get the following reply:
<soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
     <soapenv:Body>
          <pingVersion>
               <version>Business Objects Data Integrator Version 11.7.2.0</version>
          </pingVersion>
     </soapenv:Body>
</soapenv:Envelope>
...which indicates the connection works. Also the "processed counter" increases, but the job does not get executed. There is nothing in the  job log, there is no result (the job is supposed to write a record in a database table). What can be wrong?

If I run the following (on the machine I'm trying to set up the share)
smbclient -L localhost -U%
I got the following output
Connection to localhost failed (Error NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED)
so I thought it might be something incorrect with the iptables side of things, however I haven't really touched that at all and it seems to look correct
iptables -nvL
Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 667 packets, 79977 bytes)
pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination
Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT 0 packets, 0 bytes)
pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination
Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT 157 packets, 20724 bytes)
pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination
So from my (very little) knowledge this appears correct (I think)... However it appears that something is blocking access somewhere.

  • Query on batch jobs with overlapping time during execution time

    Dear experts,
    This post is related to a task in SAP SCM EM module and currently I am working on an archival activity that comprises of two tasks to be done through 2 different programs (scheduled through batch jobs)
    Job 1 is created to deactivate particular Event Handler records (changing a status field on the EH record)
    Job 2 (archival job) runs daily and writes deactivated EHs to a local file and subsequently deletes this from SAP server.
    Archival job takes an average of 30 hrs to complete .
    Therefore my query is on how to schedule Job1, as these seem to be dependent and might impact each other in unexpected manner.
    Please advise.
    Thanks & regards,
    Mohan

    Hi Mohan,
    You can try as Daniel suggested. Delay Archieving job or can run after deactivating Event Handler records job is finished. Check any parallel processing is available or not.
    It can stop your overlapping issue and can increase your performance.
    Thanks,
    Bala.

  • Difference between batch job and Background Job

    Hi Forum,
    Can anyone distinguish between batch job and background job for me please ?
    SK

    Hi,
    Batch Job:
    A batch job is a process that runs in the background, often deferred and unattended, to process data in groups (batch) rather than by individual transactions (e.g. a monthly phone bill rather than a bill for each individual phone call). A batch job executes a sequence of programs and technical instructions that are stored in a command file. Progress and error messages are output to a log file allowing users to determine, at any time, if the batch job completed successfully or identify the cause of the problem. Because batch jobs run in the background they are less visible to the end user.
    In a business-computing context, batch job scheduling implies the automatic execution of background tasks (batch jobs) at pre-determined points in time (e.g. every day at 8pm, midday on Wednesday).
    3 types of batch job scheduling can be distinguished: native, basic and advanced batch job scheduling.
    Most operating systems and some business solutions software come equipped with native batch job scheduling tools that provide a limited service (e.g. Windows Scheduled Tasks, UNIX crontab, SAP CCMS) locally to each installation. However, business processes may span multiple platforms, applications, countries and companies. Their complexity may require much more functional power as provided by basic batch job scheduling including national and regional variations in the working calendar, sequence variations according to the day of the month, triggering of jobs by the successful completion of preceding jobs, elimination of gaps and reduced batch windows. Major benefits of basic batch job scheduling are enhanced productivity, operations reliability and cost-reduction. For e-business applications that require real-time processing, the distance between interactive individual processing and batch processing tends to decrease. Advanced batch job scheduling can handle these advanced requirements: event-driven scheduling for a real-time synchronization with interactive processing, just-in-time scheduling to run operations as soon as possible, cross-platform and cross application services for the entire IT landscape, real-time overall monitoring to track background operations for all applications on all servers.
    The standard benefits of batch job scheduling are drastically amplified when job schedulers can handle the end-to-end automation and monitoring requirements for all background operations.
    To schedule a back ground job follow the below steps:
    1. Use Transaction SM36.
    2. Assign a job name.
    3. Set the job’s priority, or “Job Class”:
    High --- Class A
    Medium --- Class B
    Low ---Class C
    4. Here you can specify,when the job is to start by choosing Start Condition. If you want the job to repeat, or be periodic, check the box at the bottom.
    Else click on the immediate and save this.
    5. Now,define the job’s steps by choosing Step.
    Here you need to give the ABAP program that has been used and the name of the variant thats being used.
    6. Save the fully defined job to submit it to the background processing system.(You need to click save button on the main screen i.e SM36)
    7. When you need to modify, reschedule, or otherwise manipulate a job after you've scheduled it the first time, you'll manage jobs from the Job Overview.
    8. Release the job so that it can run.
    The job, even those scheduled for immediate processing, can not run without first being released.So,do remember to release.
    Hope this helps you.
    Regards,
    Rakesh

  • Daily invoicing batch-job

    A daily invoicing batch-job is needed which collects all the orders or deliveries due to bill. This job must include third party business (vendors invoice is the delivery confirmation). Printout of the invoices is also started by this job.

    Hi Bala;
    Goto SE38, for the program SDBILLDL create a Variant, which would include the Billing type and the Sales Org. details. Choose, both Order & Delivery related Billing opitons and save the variant.
    Now create a batch job thru SM36 t.code for this program and schedule a time. This process is self explanatory.Once you do this, a daily job would be scheduled to run a t a particular time.
    Now to Print out the Inovices, we can do this using a Output type. Configure a Output determination procedure to achieve this. Once the outputs are processed they can be printed on a printer assigned.

  • How to upload data into CRM using batch job

    Hello,
    I got some problem and need some hints.
    I am uploading data from a flat text file (product data) into CRM using thefunction module GUI_UPLOAD. My program starts with a selection screen whereI enter the path and the filename of the program, then I click start, and
    the data is transferred in CRM. This works perfect, and I can automaticallycreate service products in CRM.
    Here comes the PROB:
    But now I want to automize this procedure using a batch job that automatically picks up the file from the server and processes it automatically without any user interaction. BUT I always get an error saying that my function module GUI_UPLOAD can't run in batch mode. So
    anyone has an idea how to do this? Any other function modules that can run in batch mode? Any other ideas?
    Thx very much for ur help on this.

    Hi Bill,
    GUI_UPLOAD, like the name says, uses the SAPGUI to upload the data to theserver.. and in a batch job, you don't have the connection to a SAPGUI.
    So you should use following kind of coding:
    DATA MSG(100).
    OPEN DATASET "FILENAM" FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT MESSAGE
    MSG.
    IF sy-subrc = 0.
    DO.
    READ DATASET "FILENAM" INTO [Your internal table].
    IF sy-subrc <> 0.
    EXIT.
    ENDIF.
    APPEND [Your internal table]P_DATA.
    ENDDO.
    ENDIF.
    The file should then be available on the server.

  • How to start a batch job through a web service call

    I have a batch job created Data Services that I would like to be able to start through a web service call.
    I have exposed the batch job as a Web Service through the mangement console.
    The Integrators guide is not the clearest piece of documentation that I have ever read so I'm now having a little trouble.
    In C# I'm issuing the following statements:
                DataServices.Batch_JobsClient batchClient = new DataServices.Batch_JobsClient();
                batchClient.Open();
                DataServices.Testjob_Match_GlobalVariables myVar = new DataServices.Testjob_Match_GlobalVariables();
                myVar.ptd_FilePath = "D:
    Jobs
    Test";
                batchClient.Testjob_Match(myVar);
    That all executes without error -- but the job is not started. Obviously I'm missing a step here but I can not figure out what is needed to acutally start the job execution from the Integrators Guide.
    Any help would be appricated.

  • Force FM execution on batch job work process

    Hi!
    Is it possible to asynchronously start FM execution on batch job work process?
    Additions:
    CALL FUNCTION func STARTING NEW TASK taskname.
    CALL FUNCTION func IN BACKGROUND TASK.
    starts FM execution just on another dialog process.
    Context of requirement:
    There is a program that may be logically splitted into two parts:
    - dialog part where data is collected from user input
    - BAPI call with a tons of parameters(structures, internal tables) formed on user input
    So the problem - system dump by timeout during BAPI execution.
    The only solution is to execute BAPI functionality on work process without timeout limitations - batch job work process.
    There may be two approaches:
    - pass parameters to report and schedule its execution in background job. But here arise question how to pass these dynamic parameters? SAP memory doesn't available for background job work process and "SUBMIT WITH FREE SELECTIONS texpr" seems to be intended for LDB or anyway not for such purposes.
    - force FM execution on background job work process - so how if it possible?
    Appreciate your suggestions.
    Regards,
    Maxim.

    Hi Maxim,
    Look at this example program where the user can run it online to enter the input values in the selection screen and then the program just goes into background mode, basically achieved by submitting the same program again skipping the selection screen. This is one more option for you.

  • Is it possible to retry the err mess in Adapter engine thru Batch job

    Hi Experts,
    Is it possible to restart the errored messages in the adapter engine thru a batch job as we have for the Integration server, apart from setting the maximum number of retries and the intervals in the J2EE visual cmposer..?..
    In case the receiver R/3 system is down, for long time is it possible to retry the error message in the Adapter Engine?. Also clarify me in case the R/3 system is down will the errored message be available in SXMB_MONI itself ?..
    Thanks for your replies in advance.
    Regards,
    Rajesh

    Rajesh,
    I don't think you can create a batch job for this. The standard option is retry limit as you have specified.
    >>in case the R/3 system is down will the errored message be available in SXMB_MONI itself ?..
    It depends, based on the communication mode.
    If Server proxy, yes error in SXMB_MONI.
    If RFC, no error in SXMB_MONI. Error in Communication channel Monitoring.
    Not sure about IDOCs.

  • DOS batch command to call Hyperion workspace reporting batch job

    Hello,
    Is there any method to call the batch job in hyperion workspace for exporting report ?
    i would like to call the job batch by DOS batch. Is it possible?
    thanks
    Gary

    An option is to look at the SDK and see if there is a way for you to make a Java call to do what you are trying to do.
    The SDK is part of the Services Install Package.
    I have used the SDK to make a call to the External Event Trigger.
    You may want to look at the Hyperion Workspace Developer’s Guide

  • Routine not getting called during Batch job posting of Shipment costs

    Hi,
    We have a routine created and attached to the condition type in the condition base type of shipment cost procedure.When the shipment cost is created by running a batch job (VI06) , the value  posted is the initial value determined withourt routine.
    The  routine is getting activated only when we go in u201CCondition tabu201D in shipment cost.
    Because of this,  correct values are getting calculated only when we click on u201Ccondition tabu201D,& getting wrong value in initial screen, which is not possible in batch job.
    Need your views / suggestions to fix this issue.We need to use batch job and enable rouitne before batch job posts the cost to the Service PO.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Executing a Batch Job on Demand

    Hi,
    I need to execute a batch job which accepts data from flat files and then stage, validate, standardize and match the data and then produce an XML output for further processing. The volume of data will not be large as the flat files are produced via a GUI.
    What would be the best way to enable this job to be called as required by the users ?
    I can think of possibly
    1) a very big real time job
    2) a real time job containing a command line to execute the job
    3) embedding the command line within the GUI (not sure if this is possible / practical)
    Any pros and cons of these ideas or any other better ways much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Eric.

    Hi Eric,
    This does not require a real time job, just a normal batch job called frequently on-demand.
    You could do this via:
    1. Command Line in bat script or GUI (requires executables on client)
    2. Call your Job via a Web Service (within GUI or app)
    Option 1 (calling the Job Launcher) will require the executables to be installed on each client machine that calls the Job, whereas option 2 will eliminate any need for executables.

  • Batch job in a report program

    Hi Abappers,
    I have a peculiar scenario.
    My report has 2 PERFORMS lets say
    PERFORM1:
    PERFORM2:
    I have a DATE criterion in PERFORM 1.
    Based on that date only I have to execute my PERFORM2.
    Ex:   The Date consideration is Suspension of a Contract Date: which is 01/12/2010.(dd/mm/yyyy)
    Now based on the this date I have to execute the 2nd PERFORM.
    I mean I have to create a Sales Order on this date only.
    To summarize,Execution of a program in a future date whose date is dynamic in nature
    Can i achieve this using a BATCH JOB.
    Please tell me how to schedule a BATCH JOB for a future date.
    Can i call a BATCH JOB froma  REPORT.
    Please your inputs shall be of great help to me in solving my problem.
    Thanks and Regards

    Hi Sakshi,
    In that case of using the FM
    g_date is sy-datum.
    g_time is sy-uzeit.
    CALL FUNCTION 'JOB_OPEN'
      EXPORTING
    *   DELANFREP              = ' '
    *   JOBGROUP               = ' '
        JOBNAME                = 'Z_BATCHJOB_TRGT'
        SDLSTRTDT              = g_date
       SDLSTRTTM               = g_time.
    *   JOBCLASS               =
    * IMPORTING
    *   JOBCOUNT               =
    * CHANGING
    *   RET                    =
    * EXCEPTIONS
    *   CANT_CREATE_JOB        = 1
    *   INVALID_JOB_DATA       = 2
    *   JOBNAME_MISSING        = 3
    *   OTHERS                 = 4
    IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
    * MESSAGE ID SY-MSGID TYPE SY-MSGTY NUMBER SY-MSGNO
    *         WITH SY-MSGV1 SY-MSGV2 SY-MSGV3 SY-MSGV4.
    ENDIF.
    In the above case how would the Job name get mapped to the Report. / Or / How can we assign the Job Name to the Report.
    There is no scope of giving the Report name in the FM.
    Can you please elucidate.(EXP parameters)
    By the way Thanks for your quick response.

  • How should i execute file transfer via batch job scheduling

    Hi guys,
        i want to call unix transfer script via batch job scheduling. Executing the system commands witin ABAP is as below:
             DATA: BEGIN OF ITAB occurs 0,
                         LINE(200),
                        END OF ITAB.
            UNIXCOMM = '/usr/sap/trans/data/*******'
            CALL 'SYSTEM' ID 'COMMAND' FIELD UNIXCOMM
                    ID 'TAB'     FIELD itab-sys.
    Now i plan to assign application server ('Exec Target') to it and let it implement in the background.
      Should i do it via batch job?
    Any info is appreciated very much.

    Instead of using
    CALL 'SYSTEM' u can use FM..
    SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE  .. in which u have to pass a command name which u can create or get from SM49...
    In CALL 'SYSTEM' .. u can not catch exceptions.. but in FM given above u can check
    SY-SUBRC, STATUS and EXITCODE  for successful  command execution..
    for successful command execution..
    sy-subrc = 0
    STATUS = 'O'  " Capital O
    exitcode = 0
    For batch scheduling, you can use this FM in a report  with one parameter for additional parameter which u need to pass to this FM  and create a JOB for that report and schedule it..
    I've used it and  find it useful even for batch scheduling..
    Reward if useful
