Launch lightbox from flash animation

Hi All,
Does anyone know of the best way to launch an iFrame video box in a lightbox from a Flash banner?
I have a shopping cart and need to have the video which is served via iframe from a third party site displayed in a lightbox but can not find anything suitable.
Regards.

I don't really understand what you are trying to do... can you explain in simpler, clear details? That said...
Break the process down into steps.
Get you "video box" working first (whatever a video box is???).
Create the HTML page which will hold the iframe content, then add your video box to that.
Place the iframe on your main HTML page
Create a button or link in your Flash banner and call the or display that iframe... use javascript if needed.
if AS2, getURL or ExternalInterface will allow connection to javascript

if AS3 ExternalInterface will allow connection to javascript

  • Launching FW from Flash Movie

Is there a way to launch FW from Flash Movie when user
    presses a buttons?
Bascially, when user clicks a button in Flash Movie, FW
    launches and execute some scripts.
    Thanks,

Not a Flash expert, but I don't think so. Why do you want to
    do this?

  • Launching .exe from Flash

I need to produce a CD which will self-run when inserted in the drive. The user will see 2 buttons .One will launch the English version of a Flash.exe the other will launch the Spanish version of a Flash.exe. What is the best way to go about this? Sow what we have then is a Flash.exe with 2 buttons to launch 2 other Flash.exe.
    Thanks,
    Al

Although launching an EXE from Java is as simple as
    Process p = Runtime.getRuntime.exec("/*command string goes here");

  • NTSC & PAL Widescreen DVD from Flash Animation

Hey Everyone. I have a question regarding a project I am finishing up. I created an animation in flash that is being exported to both NTSC Widescreen DVD and PAL Widescreen DVD.
I started with 1024x576 in flash and created a sweet animation with audio. (Its a 1 min animation that will be looped for conventions etc)
    For NTSC
From Flash I exported a 853x480 animation and imported it into FCP to add some fades to the beginning and end and make a few tweaks. I exported out another 853x480 video and imported it into DVDSP set to NTSC Widescreen. I burned the disc and everything looks great on my screen (letterbox on my crappy home tv)
For my PAL version I followed a similar process.
From Flash I exported a 1024x576 animation and imported it into FCP to add some fades to the beginning and end and make a few tweaks. I exported out another 1024x576 video and imported it into DVDSP set to PAL Widescreen.
The thing I noticed is that the video in the viewer seems stretched where as the NTSC looked perfect.
Am I missing something here? Where did I go wrong. Should i have set the video size smaller in FCP and outputted the proper video size (NTSC 720 x 480 and PAL 720 x 576) to bring into DVDSP? I don't know why one would look ok and the other would look stretched.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
    Fish

    Fish:
    Try this in FCP:
    PAL VIDEO
    - Select Easy Setup DV PAL
    - Create a new sequence and open it
    - Go to menu Sequence > Settings...
    - Change Quicktime Video Settings Compressor from DV-PAL to uncompressed 8 bit
    - Check the anamorphic option
    - Import your movie and make it fit the canvas (check the Distort option in the Motion tab)
    - Do your edit
    - Export your timeline as Animation.
Same for the NTSC but using DV NTSC Easy Setup and so . . .
If I don't missed something your movies must be fine in DVDSP.
    Hope it helps!

  • Transfer mark from Flash animation to SCORM

So this is the situation: I have a quiz made in Flash CS5 (AS3), that I put into an Animation slide in a Captivate 5.5 project. I need to be able to collect the mark from the Flash file, and transfer it to the Captivate project, which can then (via SCORM) transfer the mark to the client's LMS. Does anyone know how I might be able to do this? Any help is appreciated, thank you.

I recommend you convert your Flash SWF into an interactive widget, which would then give you the ability to assign it with a score in Captivate to be reported naturally to SCORM.
Information about coding widgets can be found here: http://www.infosemantics.com.au/widgetking/

  • Animated gif from flash

    CS4, AS3.Windows XP SP3.
I've created a pretty simple flash animation with some text that fades in and moves around a bit. Nothing fancy. It runs just fine both locally and on my client's site. I need to turn it into an animated gif so that non-flash viewers will see the animation. But I can't seem to get it to come out right. It needs to have a transparent background and it needs to run just once. Like I said, all that runs fine as an SWF.
When I choose the export option in the file menu (export movie as gif), it does export and I can run the gif but the background is definitely not transparent and the thing loops continuously. Yes, I've checked the "transparent" checkbox and also set the repetitions to 1. Neither of those settings do anything.
I also tried "publishing" the gif. That's even worse. The resultant animation doesn't even resemble my SWF. It's a blocky mess when it runs. It does appear to have a transparent background but it loops over and over and again it's a blocky mess (not sure how else to explain that).
The whole thing is just about 10 layers of different lines of text that are tweened in various ways to get the effect I need.
You can see the animation on the right hand side of this page: www.ssrights.com. It's the one that says "FREE! Consultation..."
    Hope someone can help.
    Thanks,
    Keith
PS: The gif is not in place. I currently have it set to just show a static image if someone does not have flash.

Look, I appreciate that you are making an effot to help, but I hope you realize that most pages like that are just there to attract advertisers. They are mostly nonsense. Filled with fluff and little that's actually helpful. Often copied verbatim from the help file of some application. Not the least bit beneficial. There are tons of "how to" sites out there that say next to nothing and still use a lot of words. I run into them countless times each day. It's beyond irritating when you're trying to learn how to do something. This paragraph on that page you referred me to is a perfect example:
Set other options for your animated GIF publication. Optimize the color  of the GIF to remove unused colors so that the image size will be  reduced. Set "Dither Solids" so that the colors will be mixed in the  current existing palette. Other options you have to set up are  Interlace, Smooth, and Remove Gradients. Set all of them very well so  that your animated GIF will be published at its best quality.
Just look at the grammar in the last sentense. It doesn't even make sense and offeres zero useful information. Probably came out of the entirely useless Adobe help system that's fond of defining a term with the term itself.
Back to the GIF settings. I've chosen nearly every combination of settings on the GIF publish tab. Nothing I do works. The only thing that solved the problem (and it's a crummy solution) was to change the text to a broken apart graphic. I'm sure you are more expert in Flash than I am and so you likely know how to solve this. Have you created a simple example with text and successfully published it as a GIF? You don't even need to tween the text. It can be sitting still on it's own layer and it still fouls things up. If so, what settings are you using to make this work right? That inforamtion would be very helpful!
Again, is there anyone out there that has specifically dealt with this problem and can offer a specific, viable solution?

  • CS4 animated gif imported from Flash - how to link

I have a few animated gifs published from Flash CS4 the files have clickTag info in the actionscript but Flash will not export that so I need to make the animated .gifs click to their respective links.
How do I do in Photoshop CS4?

Photoshop can produce animated GIF files but I'm confused by your request.
You cannot embed any linking data in a GIF file. This is done in HTML.

  • How to diagnose flickering exported JS animations from Flash CC?

    Quick stats on my system:
Macbook Pro Retina 2012 running OSX 10.9.3
    Flash CC 13.1.0.226
I'm not experiencing an error so much as a lack of understanding about how to diagnose Flash CC JS export issues. Here's the backstory:
In 2012, my company started working with an contract sprite artist. I was using the CS5.5 Creative Suite, and we were exporting normal png sequences from Flash for use in the game. After about 8 months, my cofounders and I realized that we could both reduce the load time for the game and also allow our artwork to be dynamically scalable by switching to JS exports of our art rather than the raster sprite sheets. Here's the blog post we wrote about it: http://blog.codecombat.com/hacking-our-way-to-vector-artwork-in-html5
At the time, I didn't have Flash CC, and was reliant upon the CreateJS plugin to export the required JS files: CreateJS Developer Center | Adobe Developer Connection After another month or so, our contractor upgraded their version of Flash and we started having compatibility issues reading FLA files, so I upgraded as well. After doing some reading, I concluded that the CreateJS plugin was now incorporated into Flash CC as the HTML5 doc type, which was confirmed when I checked out the publish settings and resulting files.
This is all a rather long winded way of saying that we have legacy artwork created with an older version of Flash but are now importing all of our artwork from JS files.
Fast forward to today and we have two big issues:
    1) We can't figure out how to reduce the filesize of JS exports. As discussed in our blog post, vector artwork has upsides and downsides. One of the downsides we've found is that complex art that uses a lot of shapes ends up being substantially larger (in terms of filesize) than the appearance might otherwise suggest. Raster exports skirt this because a pixel is a pixel, but vector exports scale with the complexity of the source FLA. I'm not a Flash expert, and when we get files that are particularly complex, Flash either runs out of memory exporting them to JS files or we get files that are far too large to reasonably use. To be clear, the "out of memory" error isn't a problem because even if Flash finished the export, the resulting files would be too large for us to use (plus, I've done some digging and found a tutorial for correcting the out of memory error). Our artist is not familiar with the intricacies of the JS Flash exporter, so when we get a file that's too big or breaks the export, neither of us can really figure out a way to correct the problem. We have three questions in particular:
         a) Where can you view shape data that Flash is going to write to the JS files?
         b) Is there any way to edit said shape data inside the Flash CC interface?
         c) Is there any way to optimize shape data in Flash? For instance, in Photoshop, you can flatten images and export a psd with 500 layers as a single JPEG, is there any way to do something similar to shape data in Flash?
    2) Exports frequently break in weird ways. Many of the sprites that we created a year ago haven't needed to be re-imported into our game engine for some time. But every once in a while, I need to go back and fix, improve, or tweak an existing sprite, and then I run smack into the issue of reconciling files that were created without thought to JS exports with our current system. Just last week I was running into this issue in a big way and I made a screencast for our artist (since we work remotely) that I hoped might give him a better idea of the problem: Flash Errors - Treasure Chest, Flippable Tile - YouTube
The two files mentioned in that screencast are both old (treasure chest) and new (flippable land tile). We have a few questions:
         a) Why are the treasure chest frames "flickering" in the html5 preview? The problem doesn't appear inside Flash and is inconsistent between files. There are two FLA files: one in which the treasure chest is empty, and one in which it's full. The empty animation doesn't throw any errors, either when converting to the HTML5 doc type or on export, but the resulting animation flickers. The full treasure, on the other hand gives me 21 lines of these errors when I do the conversion (not when I export): "Blend Modes(Layer) is not supported in HTML5 Canvas document, and has been converted to Normal in an instance of Movieclip <Path>." The result in both cases is the same: the animations flicker, and neither our artist nor us can figure out why, or for that matter, even begin to troubleshoot it. This SO issue seems to describe the problem, but was never resolved, and I can't find anything else that seems to address it: CreateJS Publish of Flash Project Flickers - Stack Overflow
I've uploaded the files involved to a public dropbox folder which I think you'll be able to access (Dropbox seems to be having some problems at the moment): Dropbox - flash_debugging
Since my questions are fairly involved, and my goal is to gain a better understanding of the UI, not simply resolve an error, I'd be happy to pay for someone's expertise/time in getting me up to speed. You can get in touch with me at george [at] codecombat.com

    Hi George,
I have taken a look at the files full_treasure_chest.fla and flippable_land.fla that you have shared via drop box and found that they both uses blank keyframe(s) followed by Keyframe(s). This was an issue and has been addressed in the latest release Flash CC 2014 (released on 18 June, 2014). Can you please install the latest build 14.0.0.110 and try this out?
    Thanks!

  • How can I combine animation from Flash with a video from Photoshop to make a movie?

I have a project that's due tomorrow. I had to create a motion tween and animation and record a video to put in it, which I have done both already. My question here is, how can I combine my animation from flash and my video from Photoshop to make it into one movie?

No, I am saying that this isn't the forum for help with that. This forum is for Firefox user support, and the helpers in this forum aren't versed in development issues like that - we're volunteers, not Mozilla developers and don't work for Mozilla. You are better off asking about that in a forum where other web site developers do support.

  • To not reload from start flash animation on web page

    Hi,
I've done a nice flash animation which is in fact an ad
    banner.
This banner should be displayed on my customer website in
    each pages.
However, in order to be sure that customers of my client will
    see the
whole flash animation, i would like to be sure that it's not
    reloaded
    from the first frame.
is there something like a frames counter which can be
    memorized by PHP
    pages server ?
i mean on page welcome.php, my banner will be displayed.
let's say that after few seconds (35 frames for example), the
    customer
    click on a link "prices.php".
on this prices.php page my ad banner is once again displayed,
    but i
would like to make sure it starts from frame 36 for example,
    and not
    from frame 1.
how can i do that ?
    thanks a lot,
    RAF

Ha! thanks certified. the DW experts are pointing at Motion or Episode. I have confirmed that the file won't loop right out of Episode, so that leaves DW off the hook, i think. But what to do?
Perhaps my workflow is flawed. I don't want to use Aftereffects to create web animations anymore. I want to use Motion. But this is a showstopper. .swfs are supposed to loop by default, so I can't imagine what's wrong. thanks for anymore advice.

  • How do i stop my flash animation from constantly looping even though i added stop code?

how do i stop my flash animation from constantly looping? I can't seem to find the answer. I put the stop(); code on it's own layer and at the end of the timeline. it still doesn't work when i test it or publish. I'm new to Flash.

if you're publishing for html5, use:
    this.stop();
to stop the timeline that contains the code.  if you want to stop other timelines, you must reference them.  eg,
    mc1.stop();
    mc2.stop();
    mc2.mc3.stop();

  • How do I make multiple buttons in my flash animation?

I am new to flash, and I have no training in it whatsoever. I
created a flash animation with flash CS3 for my photography
website, and I want to link each of the images to different
galleries on my site. When I created my first button it worked
fine, but when I try to create actions to link more than one image
as a button, keep getting an error that says "1021: Duplicate
function definition." How do I make each image as a separate
    button?
I used the video of this tutorial as my guide to learn how to
    create a button:
    http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/flash/articles/flacs3it_firstflash_pt1.html
Also, when I run the animation to test it, it loops, and I
don't want it to loop. How do I stop it from looping?

I used the method shown in the tutorial I mentioned to create
it (created a new layer for the button, selected the area of the
image for the button, used modify -> convert to symbol
-> button, I edited it so it was an invisible button by
moving it to the hit frame, gave the selected area an instance name
of Hizumi_btn, inserted a new layer for actions and added the code
I have attached to this post.
I assumed that I would just need to repeat this procedure for
each of the other images in my animation, but when I did that I
    received the error.
I greatly appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks for the information on how to stop the animation.
Here is the code I used to create my first button.

I want so carry out the main character speak the message and stop yourself automatically without user intervention to push any buttons ...
I have the animation code, how do I get this code to the buttons and start the animation so load the page?
Ah, and how to put the link to a page by clicking on this open a flash site?

How to do it step-by-step? Because i'm beginner in FLash and that things of animation, codes, functions...
And I create that simple animation in other program, not using the Adobe Flash, but I think can be edited that file animation in Flash because I have the files ".swf" and ".flv"...

  • Quicktime movie export from Flash CS3 is skipping frame.

When I try to export Quicktime movie from Flash CS3, the
resulting mov file is skipping frames. i.e.: The movie is showing
    frame number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12, 15
    etc...
As you can see the frame number 7 is repeated 3 times and
frame 8 and 9 are nowhere to be found.
The last configuration I used is 960x540, Sorenson video 3
medium quality, 25 fps, keyframe every 25 frames. 6400 kbits/s.
I tried various configurations, with different codecs and even
with keyframe all frames and I always get simillar problems.
Anyone have an idea what is going on, and how to fix this?
    Thank you,
    Olivier.

The QT exporter in Flash is honestly my least favorite
feature - not the feature itself but how it
works (or how it doesn't work in some cases). For me it is
almost unusable unless you have a very
short timeline, small stage, lower frame rate - like AS
generated effects or something - otherwise,
for true frame accuracy to video output - it is not reliable
enough and not fast enough for any real
    world production environment.
So typically for me - I love SWF2Video (www.flashants.com) as
it takes any SWF and makes it into an
AVI that is frame accurate no matter what the frame rate is -
quite incredible - enough so that I
always felt it should have been bundled with Flash (as well
    as Wacom tablets).
Harmony is an incredible product - as is SOLO and TBS (Toon
Boom mStudio) - each of those programs
are dedicated animation programs designed for output to video
    - Flash has a lot of hats to fill and
it was never really designed for animation to video even
though many of us have found it suitable
for all intents and purposes as an animation program for full
    production.
But all in all - the quicktime exporter doesn't really
deliver how we would expect it too I am sorry
to say - I only hope it works as well as it does on the Mac
(Mac users could always choose to export
to Quicktime Video but not PC users).
For now if I am exporting to video I keep it all on the
timeline or nested in Graphic symbols or use
    the SWF2Video tool.
    hope this helps.
