Learning Oracle Fusion Applications
I want to learn Oracle Fusion Applications. Can any one please guide me, how can i learn this technology. Any references and sites to learn? Any prerequisites?
I have worked on Oracle ADF and Oracle Database, Forms and Reports.
Thanks.

ADF and Oracle Fusion applications
Hi All,
I want to read/learn more on how ADF can be used to invoke/customize (Oracle Apps OR Oracle Fusion applications). One of the requirement is integrating/invoking/customizing Oracle Apps/Fusion applications stack using ADF technology.
Anybody can point me Good book or Online documentation ?
thanks,You need to make a disctinction between Oracle Apps and Fusion Apps as those are not the same thing.
Oracle Fusion Applications - is a new set of applications that is completely built on top of ADF - those applications are still not out in production, but when they will be, you'll be using ADF to do any customization.
By saying Oracle Apps you probably mean Oracle E-Business Suite - these applications were built with OAF - their own framework which is based on some older ADF technologies. To customize those screens you'll probably want to continue using OAF.
However you can use ADF to build new front ends to E-Business Suite. You can do this either by working directly against the database, or more realistically by working through the various API (Web services, PL/SQL) that Oracle EBS offers or through the Oracle SOA Suite adapter to E-Business Suite.
A bit of information on this is here:

Inquiry about oracle Fusion Application(New Oracle ERP product) and ADF
Please i want to know what the java technology oracle fusion application is developed by,java ADF or another?!
and about ADF ?how i can build my approval process for specific transaction ?!is it any tools for that integrated with ADF ?!
Thanks in advance
o.t.aFor human approval process you might want to look into Oracle BPM and the Human workflow engine that it offers - it is well integrated with Oracle ADF as the UI layer for the managers.

Oracle fusion application RCU error
i am installing OFA 11.1.4 and i am facing the following error ORA-31640 during oracle transactional BI required schema
Hi,
The problem is due to a configuration issue trying to write the dumpfile using a directory on a NFS mount point.
Here are the mount options that need to be used for NFS volumes on Linux are:
rsize=32k, wsize=32k, hard, actimeo=0
Along with the error there are warning messages printed in the alert log with the mount options to be used.Sometimes you may need to do the following to allow datapump to work with NFS mounted files:
Set the event in the init.ora, to disable the mount point parameter checking:
event="10298 trace name context forever, level 32"
Note that the event 10298 skips all mount checks. Setting this event has to be done with care. Verify settings with your System Administrator to ensure no datafiles are corrupted.

How to start of with Oracle HCM fusion applications to gain good grasp on the technology
I have been working in Siebel for a long time and I am currently moving to Oracle Fusion HCM application.I would like to know the best way to start up with it and I would also like to know the possible way to go about it so that having 7years of experience I can justify my knowledge in this technology and skill.Could anyone please guide me as to how to go about it.What are the things i should start from and how should i go about it,what forums to follow, what online tutorials to look at.
Thanks and RegardsHi.
There are loads of resources out there, but with so many it can be hard to know where to begin. Obviously we cover just Customization-Integration related areas not the whole stack. I don't have anything specific to your Siebel background, however hopefully these "top pick" recommendations will help you. My personal advice is to pick one topic or technical component at a time, because trying to learn everything at once quickly becomes overwhelming.
1) Chapter 2 of my book, now a few years old, gives a Technical Overview of the stack. Get it for free here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/managing-fusion-apps-418611.pdf
2) Oracle Learning Library is a good resource for demos and well-crafted content on many topics. Use the search to find Fusion Apps content: https://apexapps.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=44785:2:0::NO:::
3) Whilst it might seem predictable, our online help is the intended content for getting started. This was overhauled recently and the new layout really helps. Both the product docs and the help portal content is very well written by our experts. Getting Started with Oracle Fusion Applications Lifecycle Management Release 9
4) The MyOracleSupport site has quite a few bits of content on technology component usage inside Fusion Apps. Look for the "Information Centers" for applications technology or BI for example where you'll find lost of top content listed by category.
I am also working on some "resource roadmaps" - a tool to give people to all key resources for a topic in a quick and visual way. Keep an eye on our blog for more here.
Kind regards

Hardware requirement for Fusion Applications HCM installation
Hi Team,
I want to install fusion applications for HCM.
Can any one suggest the minimum hardware requirement for installation.
Please help me with any documents.
Thanks,
ChandraDear Chandra,
Please note that Fusion Applications installation involves following components.
1. Oracle Identity and Access Management components (Middleware infrastructure)
2. Oracle Database for IDM
3. Oracle Database for Fusion Apps
4. Fusion Applications Domains (includes Admin and managed servers for Fusion Applications)
I have posted a guide on installing Fusion applications on 2 node setup and if you have sufficient hardware to host 2 VMs then it can be done on single server as well.
http://www.oratraining.com/blog/2013/03/oracle-fusion-applications-installation-step-by-step-guide-11-1-6/
This will explain the 2 node architecture which I have prepared.
http://www.oratraining.com/blog/2013/03/fusion-applications-architecture-for-2-node-setup/
The minimum memory requirement changes if you select more products since in Fusion apps each products have their own domain and if you select more products then there will be more application managed servers (even if you don't select a product family, it will still create some managed weblogic servers based on dependency with selected products)
The minimum memory requirement to host IDM and consolidated DB in 1 node is 10-12 GB
The minimum memory requirement to host Fusion Applications domains on 2nd node is 64 GB (for 1 product family, for all products selected then 128 GB)
Please note that these are "minimum" requirements based on my experience, not as per the documents since what we are talking about is installing for "learning", not for production, where you will host various components in separate nodes.
Thanks

Is there much difference in Oracle Fusion and Oracle R12? Which version will be useful? Can I directly learn Oracle Fusion HCM or do I have to start with R12 first?
Please help.
Thanks,
Aditya
Edited by: 905620 on Feb 26, 2012 11:03 PMDocumentation for R12 can be found at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/applications-167706.html
Documentation for Fusion Apps can be found at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/fusion-apps-doc-1508435.html
Both these releases have different functionality and can be learned independently of each other.
For HCM, Oracle Fusion utilizes a lot of functionality that has been adopted from Peoplesoft.

Re: What is oracle fusion
Thanks Avinash for initiating the old thread that I tried to hijack.
Thanks VB and Duncan for the excellent details.
However , I have some queries as below
1. Does the functional concepts of HCM remains Same in Oracle Fusion as of Oracle R12 ?
2. For a technical guy , how easy it is to switch to Oracle fusion who worked on Oracle R12 or 11i Instances ?
3. Can you please give us a learning plan to touch base the Oracle Fusion ?
Thanks
Regards
RaghuHi Raghu,
1. Does the functional concepts of HCM remains Same in Oracle Fusion as of Oracle R12 ?
Most of the concepts will be the same as EBS, Some of them are taken from peoplesoft.
Documentation is still not extensive, but you can find some here -
Oracle Fusion Applications Documentation
2. For a technical guy , how easy it is to switch to Oracle fusion who worked on Oracle R12 or 11i Instances ?
ADF, SOA, XML & web services will be the key from technical perspective.
Oracle Fusion Applications Technology Documentation Library 11g Release 6 (11.1.6)
3. Can you please give us a learning plan to touch base the Oracle Fusion ?
There is no straightforward answer to this.
The above documents should help.
OR check the oracle university - http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/ou_product_category.getPage?p_cat_id=126

Best tool for Oracle Fusion.
I have not explored this, but, does Selenium recognize Oracle Fusion related Objects (Fields in the web pages).
Or, OATS (with ADF Accelerator) is the best option.
Thanks,Hi,
I feel OATS is the best fit for Oracle Fusion Applications, it comes with in built ADF Accelerators.
Thanks
