Left speaker on pwrbk15" alum sounds rattly sometimes

Hello all,
sometimes my left speaker sounds pretty rattly when certain frequencies are played, maybe even a little when the startup chime sounds. I can't remember which preference or program file I used, but I played different sounds and frequencies through both speakers and the left one would definitely have this reaction.
Is this a defect that can be repaired by applecare or not? I can't think of another solution unless there is just a piece of hardware that is loose causing vibration.
thanks for your help,
charles
imac g3 slot-loading and powerbook 5,8 g4 15" 1.67ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I have the same problem occasionally, typically with low frequencies when I am near maxing the volume. Personally it is such a minor problem I havent had it fixed yet, despite numerous other repairs. I believe applecare should cover it, they re-replaced my entire screen lid because the apple was was discolored in one spot. But find a song that does make the noise and go in to teh genius bar and be real nice and just ask about it. If they do offer to fix, let me know and I will add it to the list of things I need to have applecare taek a look at before it expires next yr myself.

• W520: left speaker problem (high-pitched sounds)

my W520 right speaker sound really bad when playing high-pitched sounds (e.g. Windows-Sounds, Windows-Speaker-Test-Sound).
check out the video
http://youtu.be/saR-9jlens8?hd=1
the left speaker sounds pretty good, so I guess the mainboard/driver shouldn't be a problem.
is there a way to get a replacement speaker?
does anybody has or had a similar problem?

Hi stifu
Yes, just use the Windows test on the last few seconds to prove the tech that the right speaker is faulty and they will replace it for you. I have met the same problem before and I have the speaker replaced once.
Have a nice day!

• Left speaker has a picking sound that won't go away!

OK I have a 2GENERATION 6GB iPod mini, it has worked fine for a good time now, but recently I have been hearing a picking sound in the left ear, it is not the ear buds because I have tried three different ones and they all do the same thing.
I have tried restoring the iPod and downgrading the firmwares, but that didn't help anything.
I when into maintenance mode and scanned everything and it checked out clean.
I've also cleaned out the headphone jack with some alcohol and a cloth, but to no avail!
I need help it is aviously a hardware problem, and the only to pieces of hardware that could cause this are the mother board and the Little detachable PC board that has the headphone jack on it, so can someone tell me which one it is?
I know how to open my iPod and I could buy a replacement if I had to.
      Windows XP Pro

I agree too - it is a hardware issue, having said that I cant tell you which one.
It may be the dust causes the problem, as it is quite common with most of the amprefier, therefore if I were you I may try to clean the iPod before the part replacement

• Left speaker on macbook pro retina buzzing!?

A slight buzzing sound can be heard from the left speaker on low frequency sounds, its not that loud but is noticable and quite annoying.
Macbook is still under warranty, is it worth taking it into the store or is this not a problem they would consider for repair or for replacement?

Take it in for replacement.  In time, the annoyance will become intolerable.
Ciao.

• My new Macbook Air 13 Left speaker crackles!

Hi,
My Macbook Air, bought just a week ago. Just yesterday i noticed that the left speaker makes this crackling sound (kreeech sound )
And it makes this sound only during some part of the song. Well i thought it was the song quality but noo! I tested with my HP (I am from windows to mac), it was perfect. Just worried. I saw some discussion about it was the keys vibrate, NO i dont think so. I can hear it. its the left speaker with some issue.
It happened only when i listen to songs at full volume before, but now its hapenning even at half the volume (but only some part of songs)
Any idea guys!???
Thanks in advance

On such a hardware issue, stressing to diagnose same is not taking advantage of your warranty, return period, or Apples customer service you ALSO paid for.
as such less stress to you and worry of any hardware defects and exchange same for another unit.
happy holidays.

• Left speaker on ALU 20 imac

I'm posting as I can't find a reason why / why not to my problem.
I am having an intermittent problem with an intel ALU imac. the left speaker keeps dropping it's main output.
Trying to find a source of the problem, I have:
Restarted - shutdown and restarted.
logged out and in
logged in as a different user
launched iChat (mic is in left speaker housing
checked all sound settings including midi settings in Utilities
I'm sure this is not a hardware problem ie blown speaker, as the is a little bit of sound when I change the balance to left channel.
And as I say it does come back..
Today it actually went off while I had NASA TV on in Safari (OK) then real player launched to play the ram file (NASA TV) when I heard the change.
if anyone has had the same problem and knows of a cure (other than external speakers or headphones) please post!
Thanks!

you could try a SMC reset and a NVRAM reset
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1411
If the above reset do not help, I would see if the issue happens with headphones. if the issue dose not happen with head phones, then you it is an issue with the speaker and you should seek service. http://www.apple.com/retail/geniusbar/

• A Single POP Sound from Left speaker, after system heavy load.

Hello From Russia)) I bought Brand New Macbook pro 15" Late 2011 Ci7, this is incredible machine. But a month past and i started to notice a very strange behavior:
When i using mac for resource "Eating" application or processes my computer starts to Heat-this is normal.
When i close all the apps here starts interesting) I have Istat installed, so i can see what temps are in my system. Computer is cooling, and when cpu reaches 50-55 degrees (Celsium, from 80 degrees, because of heavy load) ,my left speaker produces a single loud pop sound. (like something turning of may be)
In other terms of use absolutely is fine! It is very strange and i dont know is normal or not(
Thank you very much, and sorry for my english.

That is not something I would expect.  I would go to a repair facility and have it checked.
Ciao.

• No sound from left speaker headphone out

Suddenly no sound coming from left speaker through headphone output only. Records in stereo plays in stereo but no sound on left. Tried all the usual suspects ....no luck.  Any suggestions

Nowhere near enough information to go on, really. If this is a switched socket and the speaker works when it's not connected, then there's either a socket fault or a headphone fault.  Try it with another pair of headphones and see if it still happens. If it doesn't, you have faulty headphones. If it does, then you have some sort of a wiring or socket fault.

• IPod only funnels sound through left speaker

my iPod Classic (120 gb) has suddenly stopped funneling sound through both speakers and now only plays through the left speaker, on whatever output i'm using, be it speakers, headphones, whatever. I had a similar problem with the last iPod i had -- a 30gb iPod video -- and my main question i suppose is if this is an easy fix with a simple solution or if my ipod is screwed and its time to get a new one. Thanks preemptively for all of your responses, hopefully i don't have to go too long without hearing both sides of harmonized guitar solos -_-

i would check the headphone 35mm jack for any foreign materials, as they may cause lessened connectivity.

• Sound only plays in Front left speak on Windows 7 with Xfi Extreme Music??

I have Xfi Extreme Music (SB0640). In installed the lastes drivers for windows 7 (<a rel="nofollow" href="http://forums.creative.com/t5/forums/postpage/board-id/#]Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series driver 2.8.003 ), When I run a speaker test all 6 speakers work, however when I use media player, media center etc. Only the front left speaker works.
Do I need to install creative Alchemy?
Console Launchers does not load on boot
Any asistance will be appreciated
Thanks in advance

NRe: Sound only plays in Front left speak on Windows 7 with Xfi Extreme Music? You will need to have the Creative Console Launcher which will let you have CMSS-3d or Creative Multichannel Surround Sound. You can find the newest version for your card here......
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=094"]http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=094
Honestly though, dont bother with just that. Get Daniel K.'s X-FI support pack which is updated with the newest drivers and applications for your card. Plus, he tweaked those with fixes for installation/integration? under operating systems other than XP.
That can be found here.......
<a rel="nofollow" href="http://rapidshare.com/files/234436040/XFI_SupportPack_2_0.exe"]http://rapidshare.com/files/234436040/XFI_SupportPack_2_0.exe
And the link is still good.

• Inspire T7700 7.1 + Audigy 2 ZS - NO SOUND IN REAR LEFT SPEAKER

can u help me please? after a new position of my speakers my rear left speaker didn`t work.i try all
i try 2 change this speaker in other position(center, left, right...) all fine ,but when i put in rear left this and other speakers don`t work((((((( what can i do??
win xp sp 2

Unplug the minijack connectors (orange, green, black, and gray/white) from the subwoofer's amp. Leave them connected to the soundcard. Plug the green connector into the minijact port that's meant for the rear speakers. This should make the sound meant for the front come from the rear instead.
Now play some music or run some tests. Does the Rear Left speaker work? If so, then it's a software problem. You would just have to wait for an update or you could try uninstalling the drivers (run CTZAPZZ.exe on the driver CD; in Drivers directory) and reinstalling them and the updates.
If it still does not work, then it sounds like a problem with the amplifier in the subwoofer. In this case, you'd have to return the speakers for repair.

• My left speaker is not working properly, and also making a crackling sound.

I just bought this computer about a month ago and already having problems. Such as my computer shutting down on its own and now the speakers just started today. It is only the left speaker that starts cracking and then goes completely out, onlt hearing the right side speaker. This is the first time I have ever purchased an HP, and I may have to return this and go back to using Dells.

I even had this too, try to go to sounds your speaker and adjust the left and right speaker, the left speaker without the right makes a crackling sound, the right speaker is opposite of that.
If this cannot work try to go to a computer technician to fix the problem
I'm actually want to fix this through a technician, but he's the one to fix the speaker.
Hope that's alright.

• Left speaker no sound, no wi-fi, hang up after first or second booting then blue screen appears

hi there! my laptop always hangs up everytime I open it. Sometimes it open up after minutes of waiting then gradually hangs up before blue screen appears. I had to long press the start button again and again before I could use it.
By the way, there are times I had to switch into safe mode and found out that the audio is not working anymore. During normal mode, only the left speaker is operational. Lastly, wi-fi signal will constantly disappear after rebooting.
please help
robert

Hi,
Have not seen any reports of negative experiences (unlike recent Microsoft updates) from the last batch of Windows Updates.
I would guess you have a coincidental hardware problem.
A failed HDD would yield an error at boot. You would still be able to boot to the BIOS if you desired.
Normally failed devices (memory, GPU, CPU) will give audible and visual error codes. Exceptions will always happen.
Could be the battery, power supply, or maybe the motherboard has bit the dust. You will probably receive no visual or audible error messages when the motherboard fails.
Try booting with one monitor.

• No sound in left speaker and continuous "fuzz"

Sorry to be brief and to the point but I will be late for work if I'm not. Problem is that my Powerbook's left speaker started to cut out one day and was then gone. Now all that's left is the right speaker which also sounds very distorted. There is also a continuous fuzz that never ever stops regardless of if the speakers are on (the only way to get rid of it so far is to plug in an audio adapter into the port.) At first I thought I damaged the speakers but then I plugged my headphones in to see and it was exactly the same in the headphones... no sound in the left and constant fuzz with a distorted right ear. I have done all resets (pmu and such) but to no avail. Can anyone help?

Already checked before doing doing diagnostics and pmu resets and such but thanks. For any future responders I did fully check the sound preferences in systems preferences and all setting in audio/midi setup as well as the settings for my firewire card for my mackie board.
Thanks again.

• AUdigy 4, poping sound from left speaker ?

So i get this poping sound from my left speaker, but the right speaker is ok. I use Audgigy 4.

Hi moon, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Sounds like it's time to speak with someone higher up, and politely explain the situation to them. If no luck there, call Apple Customer Relations. Make sure you get case numbers for each time they attempt to fix something.
