My laptop is Lenovo g550-2958
HDD: WD3200BEVT
Temperature of HDD is 45-50 Celsius, sometimes more. It' s that OK?
What is the temperature of your hdd? I use the speedfan to measure temp.

Hi,
Can any provide a recovery disk for a Lenovo G550 2958 with Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit or alternatively be able to tell me the original C and D drive partition sizes for the 149GB version?
Typical resize of partitions error of judgement - will never make this mistake again.
Failing that I will just merge all partitions, be done with it and just re-install an OS.

Requesting Lenovo G550 2958 H2Q Recovery Disk

Hello,
My Lenovo G550 2958 H2Q switches off frequently and on reboot asks for recovery options. The 'Repair Disk Windows 7 32 bit' was used to recover the disk image. Contacting the Lenovo Support didn't help as they try to throw ball in others court. When the service provider was personally approached at Chennai, he informed his inability to provide a Recovery Disk or to recover to factory default due to software not available for my model. Now the repair disk has got corrupted or damaged.
What do I do now? Continue operating on Safe mode due to the inefficiency of LENOVO staff!
Can anyone please help me in this forum by mailing me the disk- I promise to bear the cost. Thanks.

Lenovo G550 2958-j6y Bluetooth not found

Hello, I just buy a lenovo g550 2958-j6y and I can´t turn on the Bluetooth device. I press Fn+F5 and I only get the option for turn on/off the wireless card and I can´t install the Bluetooth driver for windows XP, it says "Bluetooth device not found". On the specifications (www.lenovo.com.ar >>> Products >>> Value Line >>> 2958-j6y) says that it has Bluetooth. Can anybody help me, please?

If I go to THIS Lenovo web page and type your
model number (2958-J6Y) in Quick Path box on right,
the Original Description for your laptop does not show bluetooth.
Maybe it is just an option?

I've recently bought a Lenovo G550 2958 95Q, which ships with integrated graphics. However, I need a more powerful GPU for graphics applications. So I was wondering if there are some PCIe slots on this Laptop that I could utilize to upgrade my GPU.

Note : Lenovo G550 2958 H2Q had dedicated Graphics, and they are pretty much similar, only for the GPU. So does that mean that the 95Q is nothing but the h2q, only that the GPU's been removed?

What is the máximum capacity supported?.
In the market there are 2.5" hard disk of 3TB ¿will be supoorted by the G510?

Lenovo z400 touch (hard disk not detected in boot)

Greetings And Salutations.Laptop Specification:Lenovo z400 touchWin8.1 SGL1TB hard disk I seem to have problem with my laptop not being able to boot operating system.Before all this occurred, I was casually browsing with chrome. Then I noticed a freeze as I was unable to move the mouse pointer, or even execute ctrl shift delete command. This happened after I acquired a blue screen. But it restarted fast into the lenovo white logo before I could make of the error code.Afte that, I was not able to boot into operating system I did bios setup but hard disk is not detected. Until now I am still stuck at not being able to boot my operating system due to hard disk not detected and not in boot menu option..Help anyone? (my probable guess is hardware malfunctioned?)

If the hdd is no longer detected in the bios then the possibility is that you have a crashed hdd and therefore need to replace it. Just to be sure, go to bios and set everything to default. Save and exit. See if you can now see the hdd in the bios.

High hard disk temperature

I have a intel core 2 duo iMac (the last of the white ones, IIRC.)
I installed Folding@Home on it to help cure cancer and other good stuff, and have it running almost 24/7 (I'm planning to leave it off/asleep one night a week).
iStat menus reports CPU temp at 62-ish C and hard disk at 51. Ambient temp is 25, CPU fan is going at 1509 RPM, hard drive fan going at 1200 RPM, and Optical drive fan going at 1332 RPM (or is that max capable? Because I don't have anything in the optical drive atm...)
Should I be worried about leaving my computer at these temperatures long-term?

51 C is well with most drive manufactures operating spec. of 60 C.
The first thing I would do is shutdown, vacuum and clean out the HD air intake on the back under the stand and the grill work along the bottom to be sure they are not clogged with dust. Then if the HD temp settles in at less than 50 C, I'd say your good to go.
You can tweak the iMac's over all cooling with smcFanControl...

If you do decide to use smcFanControl to run up the HD fan, my experience has been that you only need a few hundred RPM to make a difference.

Lenovo g550 upgrade hard drive and ram

I have a Lenovo G550 (20023), it has Intel T4300 CPU, 3 GB DDR3 RAM,Intel GMA 4500M graphics card and Windows 7, with 320 GB seagate HDD.
I would like to buy a new HDD.
I found a 2TB Verbatim drive 15 mm height.
How much drive height does G550 support?
Also somewhere it says that 4 GB RAM is max supported, elsewhere it says 8 GB.
Are there any CPUs with integrated graphics (Intel HD 4000 etc....) available for this laptop?

Hard disk temperature

My HD temperature has been around 45 degrees C for the 6 years I've been using it. Suddenly it is now going up to 53 degrees C and staying there. This temperature remains even when the computer is idle.
Is there a reason for this to happen ?

I’m a bit chagrined to report the solution to my problem !
When unplugging the power cord from the back of the iMac I noticed the round fan outlet above the power cord. I’d completely forgotten about this outlet and couldn’t remember the last time I’d cleaned it. Needless to say, it was completely blocked with dust. Vacuuming it out made all the difference.
The HD temperature is now ranging between 44-47C, which is fine considering the warm weather we are having now.

G550 2958 Sound Problem

I just got my laptop back from the repair center where they replaced the mobo, suddenly after a few hours of use the sound acts up.
It becomes fuzzy and distorted, and sometimes it reverts back to normal at random..
After several tries with different drivers, I decided to tak drastic measures in hand and clean the partition and give it a fresh install to windows 7
Now the speakers are OK, but there appear to be something wrong with the mini jack now.
There is no sound coming out, and tested it with different headphones.
Installing the latest conexant driver from Lenovo's driverpage just makes windows unable to even recognize that a headphone is plugged in.
However using older drivers makes me able to see that a headphone is plugged in, even indicating that there is sound ( by the moving green volume indicator), but no sound is coming out?
I would really dislike the idea of sending it back another 2-3 weeks, since it is such a minor problem.. Yet frustrating..
In short:
Speakers = Ok!
Mini Jack Line out = X

I recently (1 week ago) purchased a Lenovo G550 2958 (Intel Dual Core, Windows 7) laptop. I use Skype and other messenger services to talk to my family. I had also purchased a top of the line Logitech Headset with two prongs to connect to the front of the laptop.
The problem is that this headset is not being recognized by the windows. I have checked many blogs and forums to fix the issue, but, no solution. So, basically even when I have the headset plugged, the laptop uses Connexant built in microphone with very poor quality and fade-ins and outs of sound.
Could someone please help me? When I am in Control Panel>Hardware and Sounds>Manage Audio Devices, I only see built-in speakers and microphone. I have also checked to see if the Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices are checked in.
Nothing would work. PLEASE HELP!

Hard Disk problem - Lenovo G470

Good Day!
Over the past few days, I have being getting warning messages in Intel Raipd storage technology app that " Disk on Port 0: At risk"
I have ran a hardware scan on my Hard disk and have noticed few of the tests getting failed, I have gone through many of posts in this fourms and understood that, my HDD is having some problem and it may crash any time.
I have taken back up of my factory default recovery disks in to DVD's. However I would like get clarified on few things related to replacing the existing HDD and setting up windows 7 in my new HDD.
1) After replacing my OLD HDD , In my new hard disk do I need to create the C disk with same size as that of OLD HDD for the OKR to work and restore everything properly.
2) Will the one key recovery feature work with my new HDD as well? If not , what should I do make it work?
3) Will the OEM parition( having factory default backup )be automatically created in new HDD ?

it certainly sounds as though you need a new hard drive Hopefully you have already saved all your important files to other media should the drive suddenly totally stop working.

G550 seemingly broken - would a new hard disk be solution?

I have a Lenovo G550 which used to work fine ( purchased 2010 ).
Last few weeks it started making really loud noises - like the hard drive was spinning round almost maniacally and wheezing.
Anyway it still worked, but slower than normal.
Today it just sort of closed down after a few minutes - just went to a blank, black screen as if power turned off.
I restarted but the same thing happened after a few minutes.
Is this something which could be repaired by just replacing the hard drive?
Are they still available for this model ( 2958 it states on the underside ) ?
Although it is an old laptop now I have no desire to replace if not necessary : I like the fact of the large screen, and also that it has a DVD drive which modern laptops often do not have.
All suggestions gratefully received.........

I'm sorry to hear what happened...
We must need to identify first what casued it before jumping on replacing parts.
Right now what come up your screen when you turn it ON
If it is just blank then it may not be the harddrive.
What you can try
Try Removing the Hard Driv and the RAM of the system you can check this link out.
Try checking the RAM slots and make sure the ram is seated ok, also try the other RAM slot, Try turning the system on without the Harddrive and if it is really the Harddrive your computer should show something even without the Hard Drive and it should show you like an error of not finding a bootable device.
