Lenovo G575: Can it be made to run Windows 8?

I have a Lenovo G575 running Windows 7 but really I want a machine that will run Windows 8. I have previously tried running Windows 8 on it but it was not a complete success and after discovering that the G575 is not compatable with Windows 8 I removed it.
Is there any way to upgrade the G575 so that it can run 8? Perhaps a different processor might help, or should I just get a fresh computer?
I'm going to do a clean install of 7 and see if I can improve the current overall performance of the machine because it is being rather tempermental at present.

You won't get much help with Over Clocking on this site mate, it's not something Nokia approve of.
You can try Google but I don't think anyone has Over Clocked an N8 yet.
For me processor speed isn't the problem, I think Ram may become an issue with Belle, all those Home Screens have to be stored somewhere.
Hopefully they have some slick paging going on.

  • Can not get mac to run Windows Virtual PC

    I tried to download VM 7 but I cannot get it to load. It says that I have downloaded it earlier today. I tried but was unsuccessful at downloading it. Is there any way of finding it with Finder so I can uninstall it?

    Windows on Intel Macs
    There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
    1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  Follow instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the computer into OS X or Windows.
    2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    3. VM Fusionand Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
    4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows applications without having to install Windows.  The Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
    5. VirtualBox is a new Open Source freeware virtual machine such as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.  It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM Fusion.
    Note that Parallels and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
    You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

    Hi there Br0x,
    You may want to try rebuilding the iTunes library as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Slow SQL Function, can it be made to run faster?

    Hi there,
    I am using Oracle 11.1
    I have a simple OWB map that uses the transformation object calling the below function to return a value. The source table for the map contains ~17,000 records, The look-up table used below (BCGDHSC) contains ~180,000 records. My problem is the job takes 17 minutes to run with this function being called, if I comment out the look-up portion it takes about 3 seconds? Any ideas on how I can speed this up or ideas as to what I am doing wrong?
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION "F_GET_PLAN"("EMPLOYEE_ID_IN" IN VARCHAR2, "REGION_CD_IN" IN VARCHAR2) RETURN VARCHAR2 PARALLEL_ENABLE IS

    END;
    Thanks,

    This is not the fastest way, but it should be better then your current version.
    Fast would be to use plain SQL instead of PL/SQL. The select that is inside the function can be written as a subquery inside the other SELECT. if you avoid the function then you avoid many pl/sql context swichts. My version of the functions avoids only half of them since I removed one select.
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION "F_GET_PLAN"("EMPLOYEE_ID_IN" IN VARCHAR2, "REGION_CD_IN" IN VARCHAR2)

    WHERE HSC_REGION_CD = REGION_CD_IN  /*  number or string comparsion here ? */
    and HSC_EMPLOYEE_ID = EMPLOYEE_ID_IN /*  number or string comparsion here ? */
    and rownum=1;
    return control_plan_out;
    EXCEPTION
    WHEN NO_DATA_FOUND THEN
      -- this already takes care of the count = 0 logic
      control_plan_out := '00'; -- exception code here
      RETURN control_plan_out;
    END;Also I note that all your "IDs" are strings. Is this intended ? if not you might want to change them into proper number data types.

    go to your applications folder - then go to your utilites folder and click on bootcamp assistant and follow instructions - make sure you have blank dvd handy since it will download drivers for windows then burn in your dvd.

  • How we can find out the running window application ?

    hi all,
    how can i find out the running windows application through my java program?
    if anyone know any methods or classes please inform me soon...........
    one way to ask is "how one can trap the running window's application through java code"?
    Please do inform, if you have any valuable guidelines to achieve this
    Thanks in advance

    I pretty sure this isn't possible. You could write something which uses JNI to call native methods, but you'd have to have methods avaliable to call. So suppose you wanted a process on a Windows machine to read the text in an instance of IE's address text box you'd first need a way to do this with Windows specific code. And I can't think how you'd do that - unless you are directly interacting with the OS. So I'm afraid there is no easy way to do this in Java, and even the very difficult way with JNI may not even be possible.

  • Running Windows 7(32) on MBA - sound crackling, stuttering

    I did a search on this and found some posts from other users (see below)but no solution. I have upgraded the driver to 6.0.1.6235, I have installed the recent update of Bootcamp (3.2.2646), but the issue remains. Sounds playing in different applications are effected, though it seems to be more frequent when playing locally stored content (buffering??)
    When running in MacOS 10.6, the sound works perfectly. Have anyone managed to solve this? Or, perhaps someone NOT having this issue could get in touch, so I could try to replicate your settings/drivers.

    , Win 7 x64 RTM since August 09.
    Just this week, I reinstalled Windows 7 x64 fully legit ... NEVER had this stuttering problem until now. I was running Bootcamp 2 under Windows 7 before ...I don't think this is a hardware issue and here is why:
    I have a Rev A MBA (1.8ghz ....0.1.5936
    I really think this issue is caused by the Realtek Driver and/or Bootcamp 3.0/3.1

    I have the same problem, and also tried several drivers from Realtek Website.
    Also updated bootcamp to 3.1 but problem still exists!!
    At the beginning i thought it might be HW related problem, but sound works flawlessly on MAC OS.
    Any advice?
    David

    I don't think this is a hardware issue and here is why:
    I have a Rev A MBA (1.8ghz, 64gbSSD) purchased in Feb 2008. Ive run OSX 10.5 Leopard for a year, and Win7 x64 Beta since Feb 09, Win 7 x64 RTM since August 09.
    Just this week, I reinstalled Windows 7 x64 fully legit version. I installed the OS as my only OS, and installed Bootcamp 3.0 and then 3.1.
    Ive NEVER had this stuttering problem until now. I was running Bootcamp 2 under Windows 7 before and didnt have any problems with stuttering audio.
    My current version of Realtek drivers is 6.0.1.5936
    I really think this issue is caused by the Realtek Driver and/or Bootcamp 3.0/3.1

  • HELP Can't install itunes 9 on Windows 7  64-Bit

    I've just bought an iPod Touch and can't install itunes on my notebook. (Which means I can't use my iPod)
    I've downloaded itunes for 64bit, but each time I double-click it, a window opens and say "The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running windows in safe mode, or if the windows installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
    and it says the itunes installer encountered an error before itunes completely installed.
    I went to Asus service center, but they said that itunes is not compatible with the new Windows 7 and I should bring it to Apple iBox instead.
    I've gone to 2 iBox and they don't understand the problem at all, and they didn't find any way to help me.
    This is so disappointing. I can't even find an email address to contact Apple directly.
    Help is so much appreciated. Thanks..

    iTunes 9.0.x is certainly compatible with Win7 64 bit since I use that exact setup on 3 different PCs. Two suggestions for your installation problems:
    1)Download a new copy of the 64 bit installer from Apple then, instead of just running the itunes installer right click on it and try 'run as adminstrator'. In my experience that clears up a world of problems with program installation in Win7 and Vista. This is necessary even if you're already logged in as an administrator.
    2) Try the previous version of iTunes (9.0.3). You can get a copy at http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.php?old_itunes=54 again right click on the file and "run as administrator"
    Good luck, hope this helps.

    Hi gcng welcome to the forums. The processor speed is a nominal difference on the Intel Core 2 Duo. It depends on what else you need from the machine. Better graphics but you have to step up to the 15" MBP. The important thing is you have to max on the RAM after purchase. I run Parallels 5 and Windows and it requires all of the 4GB of RAM. Factor that into your purchase price. Third party RAM will be less expense.
    I don't think I need better graphics as I will use it to surf the net,simple word processing only.I'm just wondering which macbookpro should I buy,and to play Warcraft 3 on garena,which software should I suse,bootcamp or parallel,so that I wouldn't experience any lag during the game.
