Lenovo L430 trackpoint problems.

I've got a Lenovo L430-2465 with 64 bit Windows 7 Pro, an i5-3360M 2.8GHz CPU, 8 GB of RAM, and an Intel HD-4000 graphics card.
At seemingly random times, my trackpoint as well as the row of mouse buttons above the trackpad will stop working.  It only happens when I'm playing a game. So far, it has happened in Team Fortress 2, Garry's Mod, and Half Life 2. The game never lags before or after the trackpoint quits.  I can still navigate around using the trackpad.  I can put my computer to sleep and immediately log back in, and the trackpoint and buttons will work perfectly. I don't even have to close my game. I've checked the control panel, and when it stops working, the trackpoint is still enabled, so it isn't an issue there. I can't find any evidence of this happening to anyone else, but any help you can give me will be very welcome.

  • T530 Trackpointer problem ...

I have a T530 (purchased in Aug 2012) and have had a problem with the Trackpointer (and it's associated buttons) ever since day one.
Many people dislike the Trackpointer (red thing between "G" and "H" keys), however, I have been using Thinkpads for many years and got quite used to it.
The problem is an involuntary activation of the left button (same as left mouse button) as soon as the trackpointer has been released.
Here is a description of what happens (in order) ....
1> Move cursor to a location on the screen.
2> Click left button to select an item or to start typing text.
    3> Remove finger from TrackPointer.
    4> Start typing text.
5> The typed text (or part of the it) appears at a different location, where the TrackPointer moved to after the last 'click' of the left button.
The problem appears after step 3 and before or after step 4 depending on how fast I started typing. So the result is
At first I thought that the left button was too sensitive and that the action of removing my finger from the button may sometimes cause it to activate a second time, however, the problem still existed after I replaced the keyboard.
So I now believe that this could be a software key-debouncing issue on the left button.
Any help with this problem would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Pat.

    Hello Patwassef!
Welcome to the support forums! There have been a couple of  Synaptics UltraNav driver updates since August. Check to make sure you have the most recent drivers. On the very bottom of the link there are instructions to help determine which version is installed. If you do not have the most recent, do the updates and see if that helps.
There is also a new BIOS update that was released a couple of weeks ago. If you have not updated you may want to consider updating your BIOS as well.  http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS029249
Let me know if this helps!
Thank you for being a part of the Lenovo Family,

  • Lenovo G505 Wifi Problems - Limited Connection, No Connection, and Dropped Connections

Some forum members have reported a variety of Wifi issues with their G505 laptops. Their reports range from showing "Connection is limited", to Wifi connections dropping repeatedly, to being unable to make a Wifi connection at all. I combined multiple threads in order to assist forum members with troubleshooting solutions.
If your G505 was upgraded to Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and then lost connectivity, or you recently purchased a G505 running Windows 8.0 or 8.1 and are unable to connect, try following the instructions posted by Vikramsbox to restore the connection through the Lenovo Communications Utility.
For non-Windows 8.0 or 8.1 users, start troubleshooting with the basics:
The most recent WLAN, BIOS, and Power Management drivers from Lenovo can be downloaded here: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-g-series-laptops/lenovo-g505-no...
It is also good practice to verify your Wifi is activated by following the instructions from Neokenchi.
Check Power Management settings to ensure your laptop isn't turning off the Wifi as noted by Dannyk1.
Check to see that Airplane Mode is set to OFF by following the instructions provided by Shiv_K.
After trying those steps, if you still experience a Wifi issue with your G505, other troubleshooting steps have been noted in this thread. This includes a whitelist of accepted replacement WLAN cards posted by Topmahof and a 3rd party driver which resolved wifi issues for Miila and Jessemck125. Please note that while Lenovo does not support 3rd part drivers, it may be an option to consider if your laptop is out of warranty and none of the suggestions in the thread resolve the issue.

First is to update your Atheros/Broadcom driver for your G505 here:http://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/wlan117w8.exe
From what I understand, the situation is that you get limited connectivity while your other devices that are connected to the router gets uninterrupted internet access.
After updating your drivers, you can try to flush your DNS cache by copy and pasting this code to your notepad and saving it as FlushDNS.bat
    @Echo on
    pushd\windows\system32\drivers\etc
    attrib -h -s -r hosts
    echo 127.0.0.1 localhost>HOSTS
    attrib +r +h +s hosts
    popd
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    ipconfig /flushdns
    netsh winsock reset all
    netsh int ip reset all
    shutdown -r -t 1
    del %0
Note that this will restart your computer so make sure to save your session first.
Here's the link that explains the benefit of flushing DNS: http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/144365-network-posting-tips.html
Hope this resolves your random "limited connectivity" problem.

  • Lenovo 3000 n200 problem with usb tv-stick

    hi guys,
i have a problem with my lenovo 3000 and the hvr-900 usb tv-stick from hauppauge. driver installation and software installation from wintv is no problem. finding the channels ist also no problem. sound is good but i have no pictures... the display ist black.
my grafik chip is the intel GMA X3100 onboard. i thought it was a problem with the overlay function. the wintv software shows me "surface vmr" on my old desktop with the old wintv pci card it shows me "surface overlay".
internet tv (tvu, tv ants...) works without any difficulties. but i can`t find a function to activate "overlay".
has anyone an idea? thanks for helping.

i try an older usb machine from hauppauge which supports analog only (the new stick supports analog/digital) and... it works... the wintv software shows me "surface overlay"... crazy...
now i use this until i find a solution for the stick ;-)
    thanks for helping

  • Lenovo 3000 N200 Problem getting my computer to turn on.

The computer will not turn on. I can plug in the adapter and the light on the adapter is green and then the light on my computer power is green as well when I push the button to turn the computer on, but the computer does not turn on. The computer is about 2 and half years old. I was told it could be the power supply which I could replace for relatively cheap, or it could be the motherboard, in which case I would want to get a new computer.  Since the computer is only 2 and 1/2 years old, I would prefer to fix it rather than buy a new one.  Please advise!!

try taking off the battery, ac adapter and ram module and press the power on button for 10 times, with the last press 30 secs. Now replug in everything and hope for the best. I doubt it is the power adapter that is causing the problem.

  • Lenovo E540 video problems on Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I've just recently bought a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E540 with the following configuration:
    - i7-4702MQ(2.2GHz)
    - 4GB RAM
    - 500GB 7200rpm HD
    - 15.6in 1920x1080 LCD
    - 2GB NVIDIA N14P-GV2
    - CDRW/DVDRW
    - Intel 802.11bgn wireless
    - 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav
    - Secure Chip
    - Fingerprint reader
    - Camera
    - 6c Li-Ion
    - Dos license
The first thing i did was to install Windows 8.1, as it seems that it's the preffered OS for this laptop.
After this, i've installed all the drivers from the Lenovo Support site and all the programs that i normally use.
This is when everything went wrong.
In Photoshop CS6 i cannot zoom in and out, the image always stays the same. Only if i minimize and maximize Photoshop does the program refresh the image at the selected zoom level.
In Sketchup the same problem, if i try to rotate or pan the image, nothing happens. After minimize/maximize, the image is refreshed.
After a small research, i've discovered that i can change the prefferd video adapter from the Nvidia Control Panel.
Everything was set to Intel HD4600 so i changed all the mentioned programs to GeForce 740M.
This didn't solve the problem, but changed it. In Photoshop for example, this time the canvas doesn't appear at all.
So, a little research later and i found out that by disabling the hardware acceleration in each program, they started working.
This works on either of the video adapters, it doesn't matter which one is selected in the Nvidia Control Panel.
So i thought that i had it figured out, even though a new laptop isn't supposed to work like this, bypassing hardware acceleration in almot all programs
But the problem appeared in Microsoft Office:
In Microsoft Word, i can't change the text color.
In Microsoft Powerpoint, i can't change the background color.
Even if i disable the hardware acceleration, the problem is still there.
Finally i decides that maybe the operating system has an incompatibility with the drivers, so i formatted all and installed an older Windows 7 that i had.
Everything installed from scratch, drivers and programs.
This time all the programs worked (Photoshop CS5, Sketchup 8, Word and Powerpoint 2010) from the start, without disabling the hardware acceleration.
But the next day, when i wanted to use Powerpoint, the problem came back. The background color doesn't change, and in Word i can't change text color. Even if i disable the hardware acceleration.
So i'm back at the beginning.
I've honestly thought of returning the laptop, as it's the first one with which i've had all these endless problems.
Unfortunately, the store's 30-days back guarantee have passed, almost all of them trying to make it work as it should.
If anyone has any idea about this or has confronted any of these problems, please tell, i just don't know what else to do, the laptop is currently useless.
Thank you for yout patience to read all this.

I am also having this problem. Cannot click either button. Really hope someone can shed some light here.

  • Lenovo T61 Backlight Problem !

Hi, so i bought a notebook Lenovo T61 last year in september. The model is 6459CTO with a 15.4 WSXGA screen. This is how it shows on the packing list.
    15.4 WSXGA- TFT
So 25 days after warranty expired the notebook screen died. How **bleep**ty is that ? When i turn on the notebook, i only see very dim thinkpad on the screen and then it gets completely dark. After researching, I am quite sure its either the inverter or the backlight. Since i am a college student i cant really afford getting it fixed so i have to do it myself.
Can anyone help me find the backlight ? I tried finding the backlight online but no success. Also it would be great if someone knows how to open up the notebook LCD and replace the backlight. I have all the required tools including the solder. Please help me out !!! Thanks

    Welcome to the forum!
Before you start pulling that T61 apart, let's review a couple of things:
    a) Does it have Intel or nVidia graphics?
    b) Does it display anything on external monitor?
    c) Was the LCD reddish/pinkish on initial boot before this last episode?
While it may very well be the inverter or backlight (more likely) you may also be looking at a motherboard problem. That's why I'm asking whether the machine displays on external monitor.
Replacing a backlight is NOT a job for a novice, take it from someone who's done it in the past but chooses to have it done by another party nowadays...
Good luck and let us know.
    Cheers,

  • Lenovo T400 LCD Problem (shut off and bezel light abnormality )

Hello !!! This is regarding a problem with the Thinkpad T400. The problem is -- When the lid is at ~65 degrees , everything works fine. Whereas , when the lid is raised to viewing angle of arounbd 90 degrees , it goes to sleep AND , I noticed that the bezel lights (wifi , bluetooth , Cellular , Caps Lock etc...) also turn off , this normally never used to happen before. Even while the laptop is about to go to sleep, it will keep the bezel lights on till you can see the moon light. Now, even while sleeping , I can't see any moon light.  If you have a valuable input , please do share it with me. Excuse me for any spelling errors as I have to bend my head doewn to peek under the display and tyoe .. -- it's painful Thanks a Lot!!!! Matt

    Hi ChrisMatthew,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I find this issue could be with LCD cable, if you have enough knowledge on system hardware you can check with reseating on both the ends (On LCD panel & System board).
If you are want to try on that then you can also do it with the help of Hardware Maintenance Manual.
Please click here to visit the link where you can get the list of support contact numbers, select the respective region and give a call.
    Hope this helps.
