LENOVO ThinkVision LT2223z with Windows 8.1

Hi,
got today 15 April 2015 the ThinkVision LT2223z monitor delivered.
Connected it via HDMI cable with my Acer notebook running Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit.
The Device Manager recognized it as a Generic PnP Monitor, so I downloaded the driver files (v 1.0) provided on the support page of LENOVO. After installation of the drivers, the Driver Manager recognized the monitor as LT2223zwC.
It works fine, nice picture, but the integrated web cam somehow doesn't work.
If I for example use Skype and there the Video Settings section in the Options menu, there is only the integrated web cam available which comes with the Acer notebook, but not the integrated web cam which comes with the LENOVO monitor. I can't see the LENOVO web cam in Device Manager either.
The LENOVO support page says that the monitor is only compatible with up to Win 8, perhaps that is the reason why it doesn't work fully in Win 8.1?
Does anybody uses this monitor with Win 8.1?
Cheers!

Since the Lenovo is connecting to your boyfriend's Wi-Fi network but not yours, there may be something amiss with how the new laptop is getting is IP addresses from your AirPort Extreme.
Can your son's laptop access other network clients on your local network and just not gain Internet access? If that's the case, open a web browser on his laptop and instead of entering a URL, like www.amazon.com, enter the site's actual IP address. Can the browser access the site now? If it can then the issue is related to DNS. Please post back your results.

  • Lenovo G405 Incompatibility with Windows Vista-32 bit

Hello I'm new here so I wasn't so sure if this is properly posted here but thanks.
I bought a Lenovo G405 laptop that came with dos 6.22 or 6.2.2 or something. Then I performed a clean installation of Windows Vista 32-bit. The problem is that, I can't find any drivers for lenovo g405 that is compatible with windows vista .. Even the AMD Auto diagnostic tool refuses to install the detected driver since it was Hardware/Software Incompatible. Any suggestions? or Links for Win Vista Drivers for Lenovo g405. Thanks!

If your model is lacking the correct Vista drivers from Lenovo and Vista doesn't offer native support then I see upgrading to Windows 7 as your only option.  Here is a link to what Lenovo drivers are available.......

  • Lenovo IdeaPad U410 with windows 8 . I want add windows 7 64bit error

    Hi,
i just buy this laptop that come with windows8, and i want install in dual boot windows 7 wich i use.
The installation from USB PEN DRIVE START , after change some bios boot setting, but i get the error:
windows cannot be installed to the disk. the selected disk is of the gpt partition style site
I read many forum ant it seem problem due to the raid configuration of the 2 disk coming from Lenovo.
I would like to mantain this configuration without delete all and format the hard disk, i just want add windows 7 in other partition . Is it possible?
    Any suggestion will be helpful!

    Hi all,
could not agree more!!! And I don't even wanted to upgrade but simply do ONLY a new, clean install of Win 7. As a result of the really crappy instructions (there aren't any, all that is available are various contradicting posts on the user forum) my machine now even does not get into BIOS anymore!
And I am currenty in Ecuador, bought the machine in Germany. When I called technical support in Germany all they said, we don't know, send us the laptop. That will esily be half a year until I get that laptop back!
And all because there is NO guide how to re-partition your HDD and SDD, set up the RAID correctly and install Windows!
Well, at least there is now light at the end of the tunnel. I got promised a solution how to at least get into BIOS again. Then I STILL have to figure out how to manage to do the clean install....
I would think it would take an experienced lenovo technican half an hour to write a decent installation guide and put it on the web as a PDF and that would avoid lots of hassle for gzillions of people who buy the u410. And how about actually making the current BIOS and flash instructions available? Can't be all that difficult really...

  • Double tapping Outlook 2010 Calendar appointment does not open it in Lenovo ThinkPad Helix with Windows 8 Enterprise

I've found out a strange behaviour of Office Professional Plus 2010 (SP1) calendar appointments in Windows 8 Enterprise touch screen device (Lenovo ThinkPad Helix): if I try to open the appointment by douple tapping, it does not open, but in many cases
the appointment is just moved forward for half an hour. With normal mouse douple clicking works fine. Office SP2 does not fix the issue. So maybe this is not an Office, but Windows problem?

    Hi,
It’s really a weird behavior. It’s not possible to write on the calendar items in Outlook by double tapping. Did this behavior change all appointments time or just the one you tapped on? Please log on the OWA and check if the appointment time changed there.
Meanwhile, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
    1. Start Outlook in safe mode and check if the issue persists. (Press
    Windows key + R, type “outlook.exe /safe” in the
    Run box, press Enter)
If the issue would be gone in safe mode, please go to File > Options > Add-ins and disable the suspicious add-in to resolve the issue.
    2. Try reset your calendar current view and check the result.
Also try to change to another view (such as List view) and double tapping the appointment to check the result.
    3. Do you have any other calendars? If so, please check this issue in other calendars.
    Thanks,

  • Flash crashes Windows 7 Pro 64 bit IE11. Lenovo X301 laptop with Intel Graphics. Confirmed it happen

My company has several Lenovo X301 laptops with Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) running IE11. I load clean versions of Flash onto these laptops (latest version 12.0.0.77) and every single one of these laptops crashes when opening IE11.
One thing I noticed when I used the help.adobe.com site. Using IE11, the box which "dynamically displays the following information" shows the correct version of Flash player and OS but the browser says "None". If I run Chrome, it says the correct Flash version but the OS says "Windows 7 (32 bit) and the browser correctly says "Google Chrome".
The crash report for IE11, module name is Flash32_12_0_0_77.ocx.
    1. Why is the program unable to determine the correct browser?
    2. Why does it appear that a 64 bit program is trying to use a 32 bit plug-in?
    Any ideas?

    1. "User-Agent Strings"
Microsoft "rewrote" the User-Agent Strings for the abomination they call their latest and greatest browser. User-Agent Strings are what websites use to identify the browser you're using and provide the proper content for it's browser engine, like ActiveX stuff, and Flash or HTML5 video. Thanks to the geniuses in Redmond, WA, the User-Agent Strings for IE11 (which has a Trident engine), ID it as either "Gecko" (Firefox) or "Webkit" (Chrome). Problem is: when the site the directs to the content for one of these two engines, the Trident engine in IE can't intepret it and the site then sees IE as an "unidentified" browser.Microsoft has no immediate plans to "fix" the mess they've created.
    2. Chrome is a 32 bit browser, and will identify as such, including the plug-ins in it.
IE uses the plug-in from the SyWOW64 folder (WOW=Windows On WIndows - which runs 32 bit apps in the 64 bit environment)

  • Attention! Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 10 is not compatible with Windows 8.1

    Attention!
Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 10 is not compatible with Windows 8.1 and Windows 8.1 Update (pre-installed operating system is Windows 8.0) .
More specifically, after update for Windows 8.1 all the  drivers (including the latest)  Intel (R) Iris (TM) graphics, Intel (R) Iris (TM) Pro graphics and Intel (R) HD GRAPHICS  installed on this laptop  does not support out of the sleep mode.
This has been checked many times by different users laptop Flex 10.
Any comments from Lenovo are absent. By Lenovo specifications for this notebook there are no conflicts with Windows 8.1. It is not true!
It is unclear why Lenovo has admitted this deficiency.
I think Lenovo Flex 10 is a mistake that will cost the company Lenovo.

    Mine came with Windows 8.1

  • Broken ATI Mobility FireGL V5700 for W500 with Windows 7 - 64 bit

    Hello all,
My setup is Lenovo Thinkpad W500 with Windows 7 - 64 bit
Display card is a ATI Mobility FireGL V5700
My graphics drivers used to be functional but now I have lost a lot of functionality (mostly graphics issues).
    My two biggest issues are:
Many video games will crash/break because of my drivers apparently
Lost switchable graphics completely (the ability to change from FireGL V5700 to the low power card)
To clearly state: It is impossible to download these drivers from AMD, AMD themselves tell you to go to Lenovo
This is because Lenovo is responsible for the display card drivers in their own laptops.
I have not modified my computer. I believe that Lenovo's updates broke my laptop's functions.
    How do I FIX this??
Nothing works from Lenovo's website. I've installed all their updates and the issues persist.
The Lenovo Solution Center tells me that everything is up to date.
Windows Update tells me everything is up to date.
I am NOT reformatting my computer, that is a rediculous thing to say when everyone is clearly having this issue.
What is the deal here? This laptop cost a very large amount of money and now it just broke itself? I don't believe it.

Ok thank you, this is likely a BIOS related issue now.
As you can see, Power Manager does not provide a switchable graphics option:
Device Manager only recognizes the high power graphics card (FireGL V5700) and not the low power card
Here is my BIOS settings for the display adapter:
         Default Primary video Device: INTERNAL
         Boot Display Device: THINKPAD LCD
         Graphics Device: DISCRETE GRAPHICS
OS Detection for Switchable Graphics: DISABLED

    Report Id: d196340d-6e5c-11e4-86f2-4437e689f575
    Some facts we figured out:
Tested (crashing) applications for example: Internet Explorer 11, Word 2010, Excel 2010, Firefox 31 ESR, ...
    OS is Windows 7 x64 SP1 Enterprise
It doesn't matter if it was an upgrade from EMET 5.0 to EMET 5.1 or reinstalling the PC and doing a fresh install of EMET 5.1 on a fresh machine.
Before Installing EMET 5.1 we used EMET 5.0 on the identically configured Machines (VT + TxT enabled) and there was no problem at all - the Problem is caused by EMET 5.1 and wasn't there with EMET 5.0
Problem disappears if we disable VT in the BIOS of the Lenovo m91p Machines, but this is not a Solution as we depend on using VT for virtualization-purposes.
Lenovo m91p PCs are equipped with: Intel Core i5-2400CPU, 8GB RAM, Onboard-SandyBridge Intel HD Graphics 2000, Mainboard: Lenovo IS6XM Rev.01, Intel Sandy Bridge rev.09, Intel Q67 rev. B3
Other Dell-Notebooks we use (EMET configured identically) don't show this problem, even if VT and TXT is enabled.
Basically we use the EMET Configuration "Popular Software.xml" which is included in the EMET 5.1 MSI Package, additionally we configure
    DEP=ApplicationOptOut ASLR=ApplicationOptIn SEHOP=ApplicationOptOut Pinning=Enabled
    and enable AdvancedRopSettings DeepHooks=True AntiDetours=True BannedFunctions=True
    Additional Information:
TxT (Trusted Execution Technology) is a sub-feature of VT-d in the Bios of the Lenovo m91p PCs, when disabling VT it also disables TxT. We just figured out that we can leave VT turned on but have to disable TxT to get the machines with EMET 5.1 working
again. BUT: It's not an easy solution for us to disable TxT in BIOS on all machines. And as everything worked fine with EMET 5.0 we really think this problem should be solved by an EMET Patch.

I'm also experiencing the same issue as the OP, however I'm experiencing this on Lenovo M90p desktops with Windows 7 professional.  I was previously running EMET 4.1 and upgraded to 5.1 recently.  I cannot reproduce this on a Lenovo M92p with Windows
8.1 Enterprise, nor a Lenovo X1 Carbon with Windows 7 enterprise.

  • Access Connections Problems With Windows 7 and Microsoft Security Essentials

There appears to be a conflict with Access Connections and Microsoft Security Essentials which causes Microsoft Security Essentials to generate high page faults and high CPU usage, and prevents normal operation of Access Connections.
After fresh install and reboot Access Connections would not launch, and when cursor was moved to the taskbar, the cursor pointer changed to a spinning loop.  Clicking on the Access Connections gadget did nothing. Looking at Task Manager, Microsoft Security Essentials program msmpeng.exe was experiencing 5000+ page faults per interval.  Terminating msmpeng.exe immediately caused Access Connections to launch.
System configuration: Lenovo Thinkpad x200s with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 RTM (installed with a fresh install) with all current updates, and all updates from Leovo including Access Connections V 5,42 Build 6JC725WW,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Here is a workaround to fix the issue
    1) Launch MS Security Essentials
    2) Click on the "settings" tab
    3) Click on "Excluded files & Locations"
    4) Click "Add"
    5) browse and add the following exceptions
     a) C:\Users\Public\Lenovo\Access connections
     b) C:\Users\Public\Lenovo\Access connections\AccConnAdvanced.html
    6) Click "Save Changes"
The issue is also resolved in AC 5.5 which is posted to the web
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73682
Can someone please test both solutions and let me know if the issue is resolved.
    Thanks

  • Wireless LAN cannot connect with the wireless router with Windows 8.1

    Hi,
I currently have a Lenovo V570 laptop with Windows 8.1 running on it. I cannot seem to stay connected to a wireless wifi connection for more than 10 minutes without it going "limited" and a yellow caution exclamation icon hovering over my connected wifi icon.
When it goes limited, I cannot access the internet whatsoever and it's growing increasingly frustrating. I used to have success by disconnected and reconnecting which seemed to temporarily solve the issue, but now even that is not working.
I did not have this issue (I don't believe so) when I first installed Windows 8 on this laptop a few years ago. This is an issue I've been dealing with for over a year now and only within the past 4-6 months has it been really bad.
I found this support page here which provides solutions for my problem but after attempting all of them, unfortunately none of them worked. The only time I experience no issues is when I directly connect an ethernet cord from my laptop to the router.
The wireless problem exists for all wifi connections, whether it be my university wifi, home wifi, local, etc.
Can anybody please help me out? I'd be more than happy to provide additional info to get this problem fixed once and for all.

But I have some questions... especially about the drivers. Here (official Lenovo site) we can see list of drivers for Lenovo notebooks. But I can't find Windows 7 drivers for example for chipset and bluetooth...
Where I can find these drivers?
    Thanks a lot!

it's kinda old post, so, download page for u350 has been updated. you can download drivers for windows 7.

  • Lenovo Yoga with Windows 8 Pro, Office 2013 and Visual Studio

For you developer types, I just wanted to post a message and let you know my experience with Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 as a development machine. I bought Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 from Bestbuy for $999.99. As expected, it came with a crap ton of bloatware installed by Lenovo.
Here is a summary of what I did to it (I take no responsilibity for accuracy of below information. You are on your own if you decide to follow them. I am just putting this down from my memory so that I can look it up in the future if I ever need to do this again).
    INITIAL CLEANUP
Installed Lenovo hotfix for partition cleanup/merging: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS033035
    Installed Lenovo Touchpad driver fix.
CAUTION: I take no responsibility for below steps. I am writing them from memory and if you decide to follow them and end up making your machine unusable, you are on your own as Lenovo might not honor your warranty.
BACK UP ENTIRE DISK (requires an empty USB flash drive for booting and another external USB drive for backup)
Copied Drivers from D_Backup folder to the external USB hard drive (plugged into USB 3.0 port).
Installed Paragon Backup & Recovery 2012 Free: http://www.paragon-software.com/home/br-free/
Created Paragon Backup & Recovery boot USB flash drive with default Linux recovery environment option (flash drive plugged into USB 2.0 port).
    Shutdown Lenovo Yoga.
Plugged in the Paragon Backup & Recovery boot USB flash drive (USB 2.0 port).
Pressed the one key recovery button (next to power button). Went to BIOS.
In the BIOS, enabled Legacay mode and made Legacy high priority and saved the changes.
The machine booted into Paragon Backup & Recovery mode. From there, made a backup of entire disk to the external USB hard drive.
Shut down the machine, pressed the one key recovery button (next to power button). Went to BIOS. Turned off Legacy mode and switched back to UEFI boot mode and saved the changes and restarted the machine.
Logged into the machine and verified that everything was good and checked the external USB drive to verify that the backup image was present.
MAKE WINDOWS 8 PRO BOOT USB FLASH DRIVE (requires a second empty USB flash drive and a second computer with Windows 7. This USB Flash Drive has to be between 4GB to 32GB as Windows won't format 64GB flash drives to FAT32 mode)
(Note: I installed Windows 8 Pro in UEFI mode. See http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/install-windows-8-usb.htm)
You need a licensed ISO image of Windows 8 Professional Full version (not the upgrade version) from your MSDN or Technet subscription or create an ISO from the Windows 8 Pro full version DVD.
Download Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool on the computer with windows 7.
Plug in the second empty USB flash drive (has to be at least 4GB but less than 32GB) into the computer with Windows 7.
Using Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool and the ISO file, create the Windows 8 Pro bootable USB Flash drive.
Create a new folder on your computer disk, for example, C:\WIN8USB.
Copy all the files from your USB flash drive to the newly created folder (created in the previous step).
Right click on the USB drive icon in Computer window and select “Format…” from the context menu. Make sure you select “FAT32 (Default)” in “File system” drop down menu. Click “Start” and wait till the drive gets formatted. This step is needed because NTFS is not readable by BIOS in UEFI boot mode. During formatting, MBR is preserved so the thumbdrive is still bootable.
Copy all the files from the folder you created earlier (C:\WIN8USB, for example) to the formatted drive. Your Windows 8 installation USB drive is ready to install in UEFI mode.
    WIPE THE DISK PARTITIONS
Shut down the machine, pressed the one key recovery button (next to power button). Went to BIOS, enabled Legacay mode and made Legacy high priority and saved the changes.
Booted into Paragon Backup & Recovery boot USB flash drive again. This time, I deleted all partitions on the primary disk (Disk 0). CAUTION: This WILL wipe your hard disk and will make your machine unusable!!!
Shut down the machine, pressed the one key recovery button (next to power button). Went to BIOS. Turned off Legacy mode and switched back to UEFI boot mode and saved the changes and shut down the machine.
At this point, the disk is wiped clean. All factory installed software and recovery partitions are gone!!!
    INSTALL WINDOWS 8 PRO
Plug in the USB Flash Drive with Windows 8 Pro install files.
Windows 8 Installer would show the unallocated disk space. I can't remember the exact details but either I had to click on Delete or New to delete and then create a new GPT partition. The entire partition was about 119GB.
From that point, follow the Windows 8 Pro installation steps.
After booting up into Windows 8 Pro, plug the external USB drive that had the drivers folder backed up from D_backups.
Install all the drivers from this folder (I was able to install everything except for one Intel fast boot one because of missing partition but my Yoga still boots up just as fast).
Go to device manager to check and everything should be good now.
    Run Windows Update.
You should now have about 101GB free on C: drive!!
INSTALL VISUAL STUDIO, SQL SERVER and OFFICE 2013 ON LENOVO YOGA 13
I installed the following in that order:
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer edition (I installed all components, everything!). Then I installed latest service pack.
Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 (I installed all components, everything!). Then I installed latest service pack.
Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Developer edition(I installed all components, everything!). Then I installed latest service pack.
Microsoft Visual Studio 2012(I installed all components, everything!)
I ran Windows update and also installed Nov 2012 updates of SQL Server Data tools.
I then installed Office 2013 Pro Plus.
MAKE LENOVO YOGA 13 MORE SECURE
Go to Control Panel and enable Windows Defender (it is included by default in Windows 8 and is anti-virus and anti-malware solution)
Enable full hard-disk encryption using BitLocker feature of Windows 8 Pro. Since Lenovo Ideapad Yoga 13 doesn't have hardware TPM, you have to enable password based option. For this, follow the steps here: http://rics.partners.org/show_article.php?id=274.
Basically, you go to GPEDIT.MSC and Open Computer Configuration => Administrative Templates => Windows Components => BitLocker Drive Encryption => Operating System Drives. From the right pane double-click "Require additional authentication at startup. Select Enabled radio button and check the box for "Allow BitLocker without a compatible TPM...". Click OK and close the policy editor. Then Right-click your C drive in the Computer folder, click Turn on BitLocker. Then select Enter a password instead of USB option. Then provide a strong password (make sure to write it down and put it in a SAFE place, if you lose the password, no one can boot into your hard disk). Then select Save to a file and save it to the External Drive. Select "Encrypt entire drive...", click Next. When this is done, you will get a pop-up on the lower-right a prompt to restart the computer. Restart your PC. Enter the encryption password created earlier. If you are successful in getting into Windows, you're all set.
I also hooked up to Skydrive and used BoxCryptor to encrypt my files in cloud.
The available free disk space should now be about 54GB.
I verified that Lenovo Yoga 13 works like a champ with no slowdown with Visual Studio 2010, Visual Studio 2012 and SQL Server Management Studio open simultaneously and Bitlocker enabled!
The keyboard right SHIFT key is small but other than that, it can work as a great portable development machine and Microsoft Reader is great for reading PDF eBooks.
So if you are a Developer on Microsoft platform, go right ahead. Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13 is great for running Visual Studio 2010 and Visual Studio 2012 (1600x900 resolution is totally usable) while on the move. Since I have only had this machine for a few days, I can't tell much about the long term reliability.
    Solved!

Thank you for posting this. I am in this exact situation. I purchased a yoga 13, and installed Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows Phone. As it turns out, the Windows Phone Emulator ONLY works in a Windows 8 Pro environment. Since the Yoga doesn't have a disc drive, I shared my W7 computer's cd drive, then put in Windows 8 Pro, so that it could install onto the Yoga. Well, after the installation was done, I tried running my program again and ran into the same issue. It prompted me that my environment must be Windows 8 Pro! I thought that Windows 8 Pro already installed but, what confuses me is that I see no indication that Windows 8 Pro installed. When I go to the System Window, it reads: "Windows 8". Should it read Windows 8 Pro?
Ultimately, I'd like to know, are you able to execute the Windows Phone Emulator? I'm not sure as to whether the Yoga has the hardware capability (needs to be SLAT enabled or something like that?), I HOPE it is able to, and judging by your post, it seems like it but I'd love to know your perspective on my approach.
Please let me know if this makes sense, as I'm new to this kind of thing but really want to start development for Windows Phone.

  • No wifi connections with Windows 8.1 on Lenovo Flex 2-14

I got me a new Lenovo Flex 2-14 with Windows 8.1 on it yesterday, but I can't connect to my wifi network. In the tray there's always the red cross (not the yellow symbol) and no network is found at all.
I read that a lot of users experience this, so I tried multiple drivers but none of them works. I tried the one pre-installed on the D drive, the newest one from the Lenovo website and also some that I found via Google when I searched for my wifi-adapter (it's a Realtek RTL8723BE). But as I said, no driver works.
Does anybody have an idea what I could do? It's a completely new notebook, so I didn't change any settings.
    Thank you!

Actually I have no idea what wireless adapter I have, on the Lenovo page both drivers are listed. When I install the Realtek driver I at least see an entry in the Device Manager, whereas when I install the Intel driver nothing happens at all. I deinstalled the Intel Tools and reinstalled the Realtek driver afterwards, but nothing changed.
In my router's settings I can only choose between channels 1 to 13, as far as I know these are at 2.4 GHz, right?

  • Lenovo C560 with Windows 8.1 (16-gb RAM) will not successfully load Windows Movie Maker

I loaded Windows Movie Maker 12 with Windows Essentials.  -This is exactly the same setup I am using on a HP desktop at work with Windows 8.1, but for some reason my C560 keeps giving me a "low memory" warning and will not load a AVI clip.  -Worse, after trying... my whole computer gets glitchy and nothing seems to work properly until I shut it down, and restart it.
Quick recap on what I have tried.  Upgraded from 6-gb to 16-gb of RAM.  Increased the size of my Virtual Memory as much as it would let me.  Nothing has made the slightest bit of difference.

If you have a flashlight available I would shine it into each of the USB ports to make sure all the contacts are aligned straight and to see there is no debris in the port that could be shorting out the data contacts.
Another thing to try is going into Windows Device Manager and uninstall the USB and then reboot the computer.  When the computer restarts it will again install the USB ports.  This procedure will make sure the operating system correctly has them installed.
If the USB ports are still not functioning I would recommend you contact Lenovo Support for warranty service. You can find the phone number for Lenovo Support in your country or area by using the link below....
