License Issues for WebCache
Hi All,
We're simulating WebCache as load-balancer in a 2-node installation.Its working fine.We just want to know that if there's any particular Licensing issues if we want to use this same scenerio in a Production environment, or its free of cost ?

Definitely not free... It is CPU / Core based and part of the Standard Edition One and better editions of the app server.
Check with your Oracle Sales Manager.

if I using Forms 5.0 to develop an application, then using forms runtime to deploy, have any license issue ?Assuming that you have a licence for Forms then it depends on how you are deploying it.
If you are deploying the application in Client Server mode then tghere is no runtime licence for Forms.
If you are deploying on the web then you will need a Forms Server licence -
Correct Licensing Issue for SAN_EXTN_OVER_IP_IPS4

I have two MDS switches that should have identical licensing/features installed. One of the switches is continuously logging 'license file missing' for SAN_EXTN_OVER_IP_IPS4. We are not using this feature. What do I need to do to clear up the log files? Below is a comparison of the 'show license usage' for each switch.

Issue this command to see if the MDS will report what feature is triggering the license to be 'in use'.
show license usage SAN_EXTN_OVER_IP_IPS4
This command should show what configuration commands are generating this message. The file missing is not something to worry about. I mean it is annoying, but will not harm the switch operation.
Do you know if you even have an IPS 4 module installed? 'show module' would indicate if you do.
This looks to be a remnant of using the IPS4 module for an FCIP connection sometime back.
The other option is change the logging level for the license manager. The default is level 6 (informational) which means levels 6 down to 1 are all logged. You change the logging level from 6 to a lower number to stop them from showing up. I believe that the missing file is a level 3, so you could set the logging level for licmgr messages to 2 (which would be 2,1 and 0 inclusive). This would not the messages...just stop them from being recorded in the log.

ECC user licenses issue for using Webdynpro ABAP in portal
Hi all,
If we want to use Webydnpro ABAP in our external facing portal which is being used by more than 20000 users, how do we manage the ECC licenses for all these users? It will be really expensive to have that many number of licenses in ECC (one for every portal user). Is there any other work around for this?
Any info on this will be beneficial.

HariI am not sure why you want to use WebDynpro for External Portal . As Webdynpro is resource intensive , I never saw client asking for this type of requirement. Are developing any prototype ?
In my experience ABAP webdynpro is more is used more for business packages and internal portals not for external portals. If you want to use this AWD for EEP Please see below link from SAP Help for pre-requisites

Last Step in above Link, this mentions that ABAP Webdynpro needs logon.
As other people mentioned there might be a good way of doing if you contact your SAP account executive to find out if there are any different types of licenses. But you end up in taking other extra licences which not acceptable solution for clients.
If you want to use WebDynpro for external Portal ( which is not at all suggested for external ) at any cost , better to go with Web Dynpro for Java which will not need any extra licences on R3. -

I created certain WD application based on Z- functional module like delivery report, outstanding, sales order .My data source is ECC. I mapped single ecc users to multiple ep users.
Now i want to provide the login facility to the n- numbers of ep users by keeping the ep server outside the firewall. But we have limited ecc user license.
So, wether it is necessary to buy the each and every ep users license who want to logon to the portal or by user mapping (by single ecc user),multiple ep users can logon to the portal?

If your system is ABAP + JAVA, then you don't need licence for EP user.
It will comes uder licence for your SAP backend System.

I am just wondering whether it is legal to write our own java applications and sell them to the public. Do I need to obtain a license from SUN or other third parties that provide me the support libraries(for example apache xalan, etc...)? You know, we are just normal individuals, there is no way we can afford the license.If you have to include code that you didn't write (library or otherwise), ...Last time I checked the JRE could be distributed by a user. The JDK could not. If one uses only the the documented classes in the JDK/JRE then only the JRE is needed. If one is using any other products/api/undoc'd like javamail, j2ee, jmdk, etc then the license will have to be looked at.
Stuff from free ware sources generally have varying restrictions. This can often include the demand that the product must be made available in source code form. There can be other variations, so the license for each download should be checked. -

SNR License Issue. How Can I Disable SNR for all Users?

I Have an issue with SNR on CUCM 10.5 and with assignement of license type
I have a cluster with 400 users.
200 users use ip phone 3905 and should be use an Essential License.
When system check for assignement of license type , itassign a Basic License instead of an Essential License, because it see that users have SNR Enabled.
All users in my system have SNR enabled, and I can not disable it. All my user have Enable Mobility unchecked, and all my phone have Device Mobility Off, but system however see SNR enable.
How can i disable SNR for all users? This is a feature that client don't need.
I dont' have a sufficent number of licenses for support all 3905 in Basic License.

AndreaWell actually, Mobile Identity wouldn't apply to a 3905 unless those phones had another line on a Dual-Mode device like an iPhone or Android phone. So unless you have either of those in your system you can scratch that idea. Someone else may chime in here and try to help a bit more as RD/RDP are the main SNR culprits.

ok, i've seen this question asked a number of times. i know the general procedure:
- first download some installer things to a window box so i can make a bootable DVD / flash drive
- go the mac and use the DVD / usb stick to install the virtual machine
great.. BUT :
1) unfortunately, i'm still really confused at the most basic part which is where (link) do i actually get the initial download thing to create the 8.1 *PRO* from microsoft and where (link) / how do i pay for the subscription key to install the thing????
i keep seeing a link for windows 8 or windows 8.1 where windows PRO is NEVER mentioned. i ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE a) PRO 64 bit and NOT vanilla windows and b) it MUST BE A FULL INSTALL (i'm not upgrading from windows 7, 8 or 8.1 NON pro.. i'm going
to be installing this thing on a brand new system.
i'm an IT guy for two decades and i can tell you trying to find, download, install a clean version of windows 8.1 PRO is a royal pita and nothing about windows 8.1 PRO is intuitive on the MS site. it's almost as if they do NOT want you to install the
thing. i'm not trying to bust jewels here, i'm just being honest and providing feedback that you folks need to make this much more clear and intuitive. people really shouldN'T have to post on forums to find out how to purchase, download and enter
in a subscription key for a base version of an OS. it's crazy.
2) once i can figure out how to download, install and register the darn thing ;)... i'm curious how the licensing works.
2a) first if my windows 8.1 pro experiment on mac parallels sucks, i want to be able to remove the authorization so i can reinstall 8.1 pro on another system. can i / how do i do this in my scenario?
2b) i actually already bought windows pro 8.1 about a year ago (to upgrade a laptop that came with 8 that i needed to upgrade to vanilla 8.1 then to finally to pro) so that i could windows phone 8.1 development with simulator on the laptop. unfortunately
the laptop maxed out at 4G and the performance of the emulator was ridiculously slow that it's unusable. i'd love to somehow be able to put the laptop back to windows *vanilla* 8.1 and reclaim my 8.1 pro that i *already* purchased by removing the authorization
from that laptop allowing me to reinstall the full 8.1 pro with the same key on the mac with parallels. then i can sell the laptop that has sat there collecting dust for a year and regain my windows 8.1 pro investment vs having to buy another copy for
the mac.
i have no idea how to do this though i think it should be possible. can anybody tell me where / how i do this?
note the win pro 8.1 install never went well so i actually had some guy from MS login to my laptop remotely and do the install.. in doing so i believe he wiped away the original windows vanilla 8.1 recovery partition asus put on the drive meaning i'm not
sure i can get the laptop back to 8.1 or 8 vanilla so i can resell it functionally to another person while removing my 8.1 *pro* license from it. any suggestions here highly welcome.
2c) once i get the windows 8.1 pro installed in a vm under parallels, i'll have one licensed copy running. my guess is that is what i'm limited to. but when you start working with VMs the whole purpose is to be able to create multiple test
enviornments and dispose of them when you don't need them etc. since the window will be tied to the single mac hw id, will i be able to install multiple *win* vms (duping an exising win vm for instance) from the one license or must i purchase
multiple win licenses for each win vm on the SAME system? if you need a new license for each vm, wouldn't i have to do a FULL WINDOWS INSTALL every time i wanted to create another windows VM.. THAT IS CRAZILY INEFFICIENT...
there has to be some kind of option to dup a windows licensed vm on the SAME system yes? what are the rules / procedures for making this work.
i'm using parallels on mac as an example but the same question would apply to using hyperV (which i know nothing about at this point) as the virtual host platform as well.

Adobe acrobat 9 pro installation/licensing issues
I installed my licensed copy of Acrobat 9 on a new Windows 7 system. Acrobat launched but would not open files and shuts down on attempt. Message is "Licensing for this product has stopped working" with subtext "You cannot use the product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstalling this product or contacting your IT administrator or Adobe customer support for help."
I doubt any of you have a solution, so I simply remark on what transpired as a warning and complaint:
1. I went to Adobe databse and found that a patch was provided to correct installations/licensing problems on windows 7. I downloaded it and installed per instructions. It did not resolve the problem.
2. I uninstalled/reinstalled several times. no resolution.
3. I called customer support and was outsourced to someone who knew little and first sent me to a kb article having to do with 'expired licensing' even though I clearly informed them that the message and the fact had nothing to do with expired licenses. They finally referred me to kb405970 on "Licensing has stopped working". I tried all of the applicable solutions (methods 1-6) and none of them worked. Now I will have to wait until tomorrow (though I had pressing work to do today) to contact support again. I fear I will get another outsourced tech who knows little and wastes more of my time. Such is Adobe's way of supporting paid and licensed product users.
I understand and sympathize with Adobe's wishes to protect its products from piracy. However, I expect and paid for a product which works on major and supported operating systems like windows 7. I also understand that if MS or Mac put out a new OS or version, it may require certain adjustments or updates on Adobe's part. What I do not understand (or have patience with) is that 1) Adobe failed to provide a patch that works; 2) that it then sends me to an outsourced customer service tech who didn't have the knowledge to correct the problem and gave me the wrong information to begin with*. What I finally got was the kb article with a series of multi-step instructions for several methods, none of which worked. This is an unprofessional and unethical response to those of us who have paid for our product and expect it to work under reasonable conditions in a supported environment. This is not an acceptable good-faith effort to resolve issues for which Adobe should take full responsibility.
If any of you do happen to have a real solution (or had a similar problem) do let me know....
*The first thing the outsourced tech wished to do was get onto my machine via a remote connection, before anything was tried other than giving them the error message and have them provide me with the wrong information. It became clear that this person had less knowledge than I do (which isn't saying much) and there was no way I was going to permit a clueless techie to crawl around in my machine and fiddle with settings. That is simply asking for trouble. I'm perfectly capable of opening panels and following instructions myself. DC should be the last thing tried; not the first.Bill, I tried as you suggested - installed every update from 9.1 through 9.3.4. The 'license not working message persists'. The only change was that now Acrobat will not close and must be forced to shut down from the taskbar menu. I appreciate the suggestion though.
Called Adobe (Manila) again, within the hours given on their contact page for installation and licensing issues, and was told "It's Sunday, nobody here can help you". Finally, after an hour of hammering got them to get me a supervisor (their script says to tell the customer there "Is no supervisor available on Sunday" - Finally the "supervisor", Alvin, suggested I need a new serial number and left me on the line while he called someone else to get on. Cameback and informed me that he couldn't get one, I'd have to call Monday (how's that for having solutions?) Result: wasted more time and had more delay on my project.
Conclusion: Adobe has become obsessed and 'piranoic' about piracy and licensing to the extent that they put that first and client/customer needs second (if that). After reading a lot of online 'Adobe Sucks' forums, I'm inclined to believe Adobe is shooting itself in its own foot and is not going to be a reliable method of presentation/document transmission in the future - service and support is an integral part of software and other concerns such as piracy or licensing need to be transparent to legitimate users. Sad that they spend so much time on this, when they need to be fixing real problems. As well, these outsourcing Philipines companies are poor substitutes for good support - they are so scripted and obsessed with regulations over solutions that it is clear that only the most persistent users will get anywhere with them. As a frontline of contact with after-sale clients, they are going to cost Adobe a lot of potential business in the future, whatever their short-term savings. Too bad. Adobe used to be a leader in the market.

ORA-20001: The printing engine..Is this related to a BIP licensing issue?

The error "ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL..." happens in 2 cases:

1. When our BIP is down or being bumped
2. As an APEX administrator, in workspace environment settings, the print server is set to OFF.

I'm thinking that this is a licensing issue but I need some clarification on what is causing the error, because all we are trying to do is bring up a PDF report that a user can open or save. BIP is not involved at this point. Is it because the report was developed using BIP that APEX needs BIP up? How does APEX even know the report was developed using BIP? Were are using APEX 3.2.1.00.12 and BIP 10.1.3.4.1
The error happens when a user clicks on a PDF icon that calls an "After Submit Process". The following is the code and the report that was created in BIP is loaded into APEX with a "Named Columns (RTF)" layout type.

7. Enabling Network Services in Oracle Database 11g
By default, the ability to interact with network services is disabled in Oracle Database 11g release 1 (11.1). REgarding licensing issues involvng 'Computername' and the use of UpperCase4 vs Lowercase Letters
Does any one know if it would cause problems for the Office 365 software license to be displayed as licensed to an ALL CAPS name like 'MY-FAVORITE-PC' but the computer itself shows the computer name to be 'my-favorite-pc"?
If it does, which one should I change? A couple of people here have had this same problem (which usually occurs when they change to using a different PC for their account) I have to Deactivate their Old PC namer and then install the licnse to
their New OC using whatever name it has.
On more than one system, this has resulted in various odd "failure to contact Microsoft server" issues when activating. The problem continues for 7 days and then their copy of Office starts showing reed warning bards and eventually gets totally
unusable.
However, if I uninstall the office, deactivate the license, and reinstall it once again, it install just fine and acts ok but invariably at some point, the same thing occurs.
On one of them I noticed the difference in the case of the letters used in the computer name and the license name. On others I am wondering about various software add ins for Outlook or some other 3rd part application causing the problem. Whatever
it is, it gets extremely annoying. Officer 365 apparently must run an activation sequence almost constantly while Office 2010 (and I presume 2013) ran it once and were done with it.
Searching Google I have found too many possible reasons along with a lot of people who have had the same problems but no one seems to have the 100% solution. This has only started happening since we switched to Office 365 and only
seems to occur on systems that are changed out to different ones with the same User's 365 Account which is in good standing and has 5 available licenses of which only one is in use.
In the case of the caps vs lowercase I also wonder if changing the name to CAPS on their PC would create additional problems on its own?Hi Questorfla,

I am patiently waiting for some word on whether I can go ahead a install the new version of Muse CC (2014) software on my systems without running into the quagmire that so many are experiencing. I simply can't afford to run the risk that I will be stuck with a "trial version" for the next 30 days without some assurance from Adobe that they will be able to solve the problems in that time frame. It would be nice if adobe would send out an email that explains the situation to all of it's users so we know what's going on and when the issue is resolved. Collectively we all pay a lot money for these "updates", so I don't think it's to much to ask.

It appears that you fall under the "not otherwise specified" category because you're not dealing with an UltraSPARC T1 (multiplier 0.25) or an AMD/ Intel chip (multiplier 0.5) so your multiplier would be 0.75.
0.75 * 2 cores = 1.5 processors which would have to be rounded up to 2 processors. If you had 4 total cores, you would only need a 3 processor license.
