Light tables and multiple items

I am trying to discover how to add an image to a light table more than once.
Both Apple's documentation and the Luna book say it's possible but I don't quite get the trick involved.

Rather the other way around. I'm pretty sure I
remember dragging Versions onto a light table
multiple times before 1.5.
I did a clean install back to v1.1 to test this and it doesn't work there either. Either Long & Luna were confused and when they wrote that part of the book and mistook a feature of Aperture books where you can use an image more than once or they had advice from Apple about a feature that didn't get implemented.
I think the ability to have an image master or version appear in a single light table more than once would be a useful feature. I will use Aperture feedback to tell Apple this.
On a related note I called Apple Care tech support for the Aperture application and asked them: "How should the program work in this area?"
I wanted to see if what I was observing was the normal behavior.
The response I got from Tech support was so STUPID that I was astonished! The rep told me to first delete my plist file then export all my image masters and create a new library and reimport the masters. I told him that procedure would loose all of the metadata and adjustments Aperture contained for my 28,000 master files, throwing away 100's of hours of work. He said it was the only way to find out if I could add a image multiple times to a light table.
The rep didn't really seem to know much at all about Aperture and when I challenged him on this point he defended himself saying that he had to support all the pro apps and couldn't really know much about any of them. He concluded by saying that if I wanted to find out how the program was supposed to be working I would have to call tech support at Peachpit since they published the Long & Luna manual.
It was a very dissapointing response but I probably shouldn't have been too surprised. Non existent tech suppport is the norm for our times. I did expect Apple to do a bit better though.........

    Is it possible to process this via MessageTransformBean (my actual scenario is JMS to IDoc)? I already tried but I only succeeded when having new lines in my input to separate between Header and (multiple) Items.
    So when the input and my configuration looks like below it works, but when I only have a single row input it doesn't work, even when specifying xml.recordHeader.endSeparator = '0' / xml.recordItem.endSeparator = '0'. I even tried xml.endSeparator = '0' but no luck.

    As it is written at the beginning of this document, MTB is used to
    call classes written for the Plain Adapter Engine. So you may find
    additional documentation about the parameters for convertion in the
    documentation of the Plain Adapter Engine

    arranged line-by-line. The endSeparator just adds additional character
    string as a separator after the last column in a row.
    I hope that this answers your question. MTB expects the data to be
    structured line by line.
    You may add a custom module, which transforms the message in the
    expected format.
    If you have a look at the second link there's even a more precise wording that multiple structures within one line are not supported:
    xml.NameA.endSeparator
    Even if no specification is made here, a line break must follow since substructures are always expected as a line of the document.
    Bottom line is that it's not supported by now and verfied by me with PI 7.4 SP5
    Many thanks to Ambrish, Amit and Hareesh for the valuable input. Will probably try to work things out for now following Ambrish's / Hareesh's suggestion as this seems easier to implement. Amit's proposal with a dedicated module however would probably be the more polished solution.

  • ALV for one header and multiple item table

    I have a requirement to display records from one header and three item table using ALV.
    The output should be such that
         1-line - record from header table
         followed by - records from the 1st item table(can have multiple entries corresponding to a header record and each should be displayed on separate line)
         followed by - records from 2nd item table(can have multiple entries corresponding to a header record and each should be displayed on separate line)
         followed by - record from 3rd item table(can have multiple entries corresponding to a header record and each should be displayed on separate line)

  • Updating multpile tables and multiple rows - JDBC adapter

    Hi,
    The scenario is like this. i receive an Idoc which has header information and various line items (multiple occurrance of a segment). the hearder details have to be sent to one table, TableA, and all line items has to go to another table, TableB, and for each line item, a new row has to be inserted in TableB.
    How can i acheive this using JDBC adapter? how should my data type look like? what are the settings i need to do in adapter config?

    You need to provide the JDBC Driver, Connection,User Name and the password.

    Since you just need to update the tables, take only the sender side of the blog, i.e. the request part and configure the scenario accordingly.

    I have more then 50 very important tables and around 15 database users.
    I want to implement fine grained auditing on these important tables.

    object_schema - The schema of the object to be audited. (If NULL, the current log-on user schema is assumed.)
    in case if you like to audit for multiple users - then try to test by holding a null value and test access the important tables -where the relevant auditing records are generated as per your requirement or not. i have not tested.. try it

  • Light table and stacks

    Hello,
    I was recently trying to drag image(s) from a stack to a "light table" folder. What happens is that is moved the entire stack in the "light table" folder, instead of the one or two specific image(s) I would like to have in the "light table "folder.
    Moreover, once in the "light table" folder, I can't drag one or two specific image(s) from the stack without having the whole stack on the light table... In order to achieve this, I have to unstack these images... but they get unstacked in the original project folder as well !!!

    Sébastien -- this is by design. Stacks are designed to
    - keep images together
    - have only one "pick" for each Aperture container.
    They are the virtual manifestation of the old practice of (literally) stacking nearly identical slide versions of a shot while sorting on a light-table, with the best of the set on top.
    Because of the way Stacks are implemented, it makes sense to use them only for sets of images which are
    - very similar
    - will have only one "pick".
    I use Stacks for the following:
    - same shot with minor camera setting changes (aperture, exposure duration, ISO, etc., but not usually changes in composition)
    - rapid fire shots. If I get two or more good shots, I split the Stack.
    - bracketed sets. Once I have created a new image from the bracketed shots, I import it, add it to the Stack, and make it the "pick".
    I also use Stacks for Versions. Here logic and rigor break down. (I have recommended that Apple allow for a special type of Stack for stacked Versions.) Almost always, I will end up with one "pick" from the Versions. Once in a while though (often with cropped details) I will end up with more than one "pick". The only thing to do then if you need to use more than one pick in an Aperture container, is to split the Stack. This severs the Version from its siblings. I don't like that -- but that's how it works.
    Note that Light-tables in Aperture are just a special instance of an Album.
    What Frank was trying to get you to see is that it's your use of Stacks which is causing your problem. There is nothing to be gained from putting the images you want in a Light-table in an Album first.

  • SQL query for join table and multiple values

    Trying to join two tables , Emphours and EmpStatus to get
    result which gives each emplyees hour

  • Nested Tables and Multiple Pages

    Hi,
    I have a problem with nested tables that span multiple pages.
    Lets assume I want to create a list of orders. Each order contains several order items. As long as an order contains less order items than fit to one page the list is rendered correctly. But if an order contain more items all items that can´t be displayed at the first page are cut off.
    I´ve tried so many combinations of subforms with flow content and position content, subform sets and "Allow Page Breaks within Content" as well as Layout Property "Expand to fit" but nothing helped.
    Can someone tell me if and how I can achieve this. In the meantime I do work in Designer directly with a XML datasource. So I could send you the form and example data.
    I´m working with NW04 SP11 and Adobe Designer 6.0

    There are some limitations and bugs in your requirement.
    Please see the output after copying into notepad.
    1.Eventhough if you give overflow leader , the headers for item table will not repeat.it is a bug.this is not solved in designer 7.1 also.
    2.There are some accessibilty bugs in case of nested table.
    Please follow the below design in the hierachy tab.

  • When I select a menu item, the highlight is light blue and the item font color goes white. It is very difficult to read? Any solution?

    When I select Bookmarks, the menu item (Bookmarks) is highlighted in light gray color; and the letters of the work itself (Bookmarks) turns white. This same thing happens when you go into individual bookmark selections. It is very difficult to read. Are there any alternatives that can be set by the user?

    Are you using a standard Windows theme?
    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    Hello, I'm a beginner user of InDesign, using CS5, and am needing some help with tables.
    I'm creating a schedule for an event. I have a 4 page, facing-pages, each page is letter-sized with vertical orientation. I'm inputting the schedule data into a table because that seems to be the easiest way to keep everything aligned and easy to re-organize. My table begins in the lower-half of Page 1, and runs to the bottom of Page 3.
    My questions:
    1) On Page 2 and 3, if I adjust the column width the width is automatically updated on the facing page (e.g. width change on Page 3 auto-updates Page 2). However on Page 1 the width remains the same. Anyway to have it update as well? The text in the tables is linked (e.g. can push text from Page 1 to Page 2)
    2) On each Page I merged the first row of cells to create a 'Date' header (e.g. March 4 2011). As changes are made to the schedule (e.g. events added or removed), and because the text between the 3 pages/tables linked together, sometimes the Date header from Page 3 appears on Page 2, so I then have to repeatedly shorten the height of the Page 2 table so that the Page 3 Date header is 'pushed' to Page 3 properly. Anyway to force a certain row to appear on Page 3? I guess I could create a stand-alone table for Page 3, but then if I adjust column width, it won't be automatically changed on Page 2 anymore.

  • Create and Save a Photo Colllage from Light Table

    Hi Everyone,
    I want to create a montage of several photos that I can save as one .JPG or similar, then take and have printed as a large photo collage.
    I have had limited success using Apertures Light Table feature, however cannot find a way to save the entire light table as a single image for printing.
    Can anyone offer any advise on this, or perhaps suggest a different application that will do the job?

    If a PDF format works for you, then you can simply choose the light table, select FILE->PRINT LIGHT TABLE and in the window that pops up you can select SAVE AS PDF.
    Then you can print that file...

    When I try to create a new book or open an old one the design window does not open. Cannot get to the light table and other features as well.
    Where did they all go?

    This sounds odd. Did you try quitting and relaunching? You might delete the .plist in the Preferences and rebuild the database (Option>CMD on launch).

    Hi ,
    How do i implement the singleSelection and multipleSelection on table rows.
    How do i capture the checked rows?
    How should the code be written and where should it be written.
    I should be capturing the values of the checked rows and pass it to the pl/sql package.
    I have a table - in -table so there is a singleselection on the outer table and multiple selection on the Inner table.
    Could anyone help me with this.

    Always go through the dev guide before putting up the issue. Let the forum be for those scenarios which dev guide doesn't covers in much detail.

  • Ratings and adjustments staying on the Light Table

    I'm working through the Luna and Long Apple Pro Training book. It's excellent. I've got a problem which no amount of re-reading seems to address. I know I've done something wrong, but I can't find any obvious error.
    I've worked on a series of images on the Light Table and have adjusted them and rated them there. Following the book's direction, I tried to collect the best rated versions using a Smart Album. No luck--it showed nothing was rated. I was surprised to find that neither the ratings nor the adjustments showed on versions anywhere except on the Light Table itself. In other words, when I selected the Project icon, the image versions in the browser and viewer were unadjusted and unrated. Since this seems to defeat the purpose of the Light Table, I know I've done something wrong along the way.
    I'm quite sure I'm not the only person to which this has happened. Anyone have any ideas where I goofed?

    How are they being viewed at the trade shows?  A digital projector connected to a computer playing the slideshow with iPhoto? An external monitor?

  • Question on Light Table behavior

    I am wondering if it just me and a couple of others who are seeing pixelated images in a Light Table in 3.1.1?
    Situation:
    With Aperture 3.1.1 set to all defaults in Preferences, I create a new light table (either empty or with pre-selected images) and then drag images to the light table.
    The images are small on the table. They appear to be lower quality than the images in the filmstrip to begin with. Resizing the images exagerates the problem and reveals unclear and/or pixelation.
    I have done a clean install of Aperture 3 and updated to 3.0.3 and the issue does not exist. Light Table images are fine whether resized or not.
    *What I have tried so far:*
    1 - Clean install of OS X 10.6 and updated with 10.6.6 combo installer (repaired disk permissions once installed), then install Aperture 3 and updated to 3.1.1 (repaired disk permissions once completed). Import new images from Nikon D80 (both RAW and JPEG) and tested light table. Same issue. Then imported new .cr2 files from a friend's Canon, which all had the same issue.
    2 - Copy APTS lesson files and library to drive > open with Aperture 3.1.1 (upgrade library when prompted). The existing images in that library behave correctly in Light Table, but newly imported images into that library display the image degradation / pixelation in light table.
    3 - In all cases, I have tried to delete / generate Previews as well as Thumbnails. None of these have sorted the issue.
    Note - it almost appears to me that the images used on the light table are actually small thumbnails that are low quality on the light table and any subsequent resizing pixelates the image.
    Note #2 - the strange thing in all cases is that using the loupe tool and panning over the images in the light table shows high-quality image.
    I am trying to determine if it is my machine (or procedure) specifically, or if there are others experiencing this in large numbers.
    I have 8 GB RAM and the nVidia 8800 GT upgrade card in my machine. Whether just Aperture 3.1.1 is installed or with all my normal software, no difference in Light Table behavior.
    Looking for comments as to whether users have no issues like this or any who do.
    I have already sent a report to Apple.

    I do not think this is intended behavior, as it works as expected in AP 3.0.3.
    I sent a bug report via the feedback function in the Aperture menu and will follow up with a second one. I was hoping that other users would chime in as to whether they were experiencing the issue, or if it is working correctly on their system. Unfortunately, there has been no response other than yours as you can see.
    There are two other threads since the release of 3.1.1 where 3 or 4 other users are having the same issue (at least as far as the pixelation / low resolution image issue).
    On my system, the default size of the light table changed between 3.0.3 and 3.1.
    In 3.0.3 the light table starts off smaller (with larger grid squares as if zoomed in) and dragging the images onto the table show the same quality image on the table as in the filmstrip. In 3.1 (and 3.1.1) the light table starts off much larger (with smaller grid squares as if zoomed out) and dragging an image from the filmstrip results in a smaller sized thumbnail showing on the light table at the lower quality.
    I have also been going back through the 'Apple Pro Training Series - Aperture 3' book using the included library and lesson files (to test for functionlity with AP 3.1.1 and iPhoto '11) and I find that in lesson 3 where the light table is used, the same issue appears once you resize one of the images next to smaller images (which results in the three smaller images being lower quality than the resized image).
    My guess is that the thumbnail / preview function connected with the light table sizing is creating an issue where the light table is using a smaller thumbnail when it should be switching to (or using from the beginning) a preview for quality. The fact that the image viewed under the loupe tool is high quality lends to this theory - IMHO.
    I am hoping that this is fixed in 3.1.2 (if they release an update), since I would like to use the light table for layout decisions and for comparing multiple images. The bad image quality sort of shoots this function in the foot for me.
    The only real fix is to revert to AP 3.0.3 and forego the 3.1.1 improvements which really isn't a fix.
    To any others reading this post, could you please indicate whether the light table image quality is fine for you or whether you are experiencing the bad quality / pixelation issue I am? It would help me in discovering whether this is machine (hardware) specific or a wider issue.
