Lightroom 2.2 can't file files at new path

I recently changed the path where all my images are located. Do I have to go through each folder one at a time and point them to the location of every folder within the new path? This will take forever.
For example:
OLD PATH s:\images\...
NEW PATH s:\Pictures\...
Is there no automated way for Lightroom to pick up the new path or a place for me to set it???
Thanks,
Jay

My external HDD failed. It had two volumes, one TimeMachine, the second for general use including my ITunes Library. It also had a clone of my old eMac on it.
it's not a good idea to keep things this way. the data on the data partition is not really backed up. when something happens to the drive just as it did to you you loose everything: TM backups and the data partition. in the future I suggest you keep one drive just for TM and back up everything to it. then you'll have a true backup and won't have to deal with issues as the one you are facing now.
When the external drive failed I managed to successfully copy the second volume over to a Rescue folder on my iMac's internal HDD with no trouble. All 140gb of it.
you should have copied it to a separate partition. that would make things easier.
I now have a new external HDD and I have just tried to MOVE the rescue folder back over to it. However the MOVE fails with the message *'You don't the right privileges for 'System Preferences.app'*. This is but one of the files in the rescue folder and is in a clone of my eMac;s HDD (this computer is currently being repaired by Apple).
Two questions-
1) Is is possible to globally override the above (like when Trashing files) so that the move does not fail again; and
I have located the file 'System Preferences.app' using Finder and have unlocked it and changed its permissions to both read as 'Read/Write". Hopefully this wil stop this.
this might work. if it doesn't you'll need to do it from terminal.
However -
2) The iMac moved about 4.5 gb data back to the external HDD before it got stuck, as the data was being moved, not copied, will this be lost if I delete this 4GB and start again?
why did you move instead of copy?! this is asking for trouble. check to see if the copied data is still present in the original folder.

On which operating system are you trying to install these Adobe apps?
Please specify the operating system name and version.
If you have purchased new Macbook Pro, then you should have atleast Mac OSX 10.9 or later. However, i doubt you will be able to install most of these apps on it as they are pretty old apps except CS5 & Lr4.
Still you can give it a shot and check.
What happens when you try to install them?
Do you get any error message? An error screenshot or full text of the error, should be helpful.

  • New file server--Can InDesign be switched to new path?

We've installed a new server with new IP address and new volume name.
Is there an easy way to tell InDesign that the same folder/file structure is now to be found at the new server address (or volume name), so we won't have to relink any files within INDD documents?
    Thanks!

    After reading this...
All Communities > InDesign > InDesign Feature Requests >  Discussions> Relative Link Paths
I think I'm convinced that InDesign cannot do what I've asked.
I'm going to solve the problem by doing what I prefer not to do which is to name the new server exactly as the old one and give the new server the old server's IP address. Then ID will not know it is a new server.

    Hi Ashley Clavette,
The Initial view setting works perfectly when the file is opened in Acrobat after setting the desired Initial View.
When you upload the file onto Wordpress, and view it on that website in the browser...it might be using a different pdf handler program which might be causing this issue ( it would be helpful, if you could provide the screenshot) , however when you download the pdf again from wordpress server...and open in Acrobat/Reader...then what  exactly happens ?  Does the pdf opens in the desired Initial View setting?

having same problem here. I used to have the option to delete, but it seems to have dissapeared. I can delete but if I look in recycle its not there. If I go to undo, it says my last action was to delete the keyword which also removed it from the catalog. weird............

  • Can Olympus RAW files open in Lightroom mobile?

Can Olympus RAW files open in Lightroom mobile?

As I understand it, but I have not tried LR Mobile, you have to have the raw files on a real computer and then sync the smart previews from LR desktop to the iPad.  I am still trying to get my head around a real use case for a non professional enthuasist photographer.

  • With Lightroom 4 I can't read any .DNG files directly into Photoshop CS. I have camera raw 2.4

With Lightroom 4 I can't read any .DNG files directly into Photoshop CS. I have"camera raw 2.4" selected in LR and the Plug-in for CS is Camera Raw.8BI.
Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Have you tried a different DNG converter? Adobe released Adobe DNG Converter 5.3 in March of this year. Maybe, if it supports your camera, this version will create a more compatible file.

  • Lightroom 5 can't copy files when importing PC catalog

Attempting to merge my old PC catalog into my newer Mac one.
I tidied up both catalogs, then consolidated the PC catalog and media onto an external USB 3 drive (NTFS) - Mac catalog is on an external Firewire drive (Mac OS Extended Journaled). Both separate catalogs were extensively tested and were working, with all media accessible.
I imported as catalog from the Mac catalog, and previews looked fine, and imported catalog looks fine EXCEPT almost none of the media has copied across (about 4500 photos worth!) some did, though, no idea why, or why not, in either case. Got an error message which said Lightroom couldn't copy some files.
I did so much manual cleanup, which took days, to make this painless, I'm pretty gutted such a simple thing didn't work.
Any idea what might be wrong and how to clean up this mess without having to go through it all manually AGAIN, please?

OK, I'll try to give you the info you need. Firstly, I'm not the one doing the copying, I'm asking Lightroom to copy files to a new location while performing an 'import from catalog'. Also, I've just undone the previous import and I was incorrect, Lightroom copied none of the files across at all. This is all being done on the Mac, just so you know.
Exact steps were as follows -
1 - File -> Import from another Catalog (choose PC Catalog on NTFS HDD).
2 - Appropriate files (all of them in fact) selected.
3 - Settings were- File Handling - copy to: (folder on the Mac external HDD). Replace: Nothing (only new files copied). With preview.
2 - Exact error message is "Problem importing from catalog 'Lightroom was unable to copy the files for these images to the folder you selected'." The previews appear in the catalog but with the missing file icons.
I've removed the previous import and tried again, with the same result. In between the tries, I checked read/write permissions on both drives, which have full access, and also tried manually copying one of the folders across between the same two HDDs using the Finder (i.e. outside Lightroom), which worked perfectly, so I can't agree it's not a Lightroom issue at the moment.

  • Trying to export RAW originals from Aperature 3 to LightRoom 4: I choose File Export Originals. I think then Pictures LR. But then I can't find files in LR library.Files seem stuck in Pictures as NEF

Trying to export RAW originals from Aperature 3 to LightRoom 4: I choose File>Export>Originals. Then Pictures>LR. But then I can't find files in LR library.Files seem stuck in Pictures as NEF and or DNG files. I know Im stuck on something dumb but I am stuck. Help?

You now need to import those files into Lightroom.
BTW, Lightroom uses a "referenced" system so your images will always be in the folders you download/copy them to. Lightroom is a database first and foremost, albeit with non-destructive editing capabilities (effectively Adobe Camera Raw).

I have files that say they are missing or offline. I have checked all my folders off of lightroom and they can not be found. I have used the ? mark settings to find and still not found. I can see the images on lightroom so they have to be in my system some how. How can I retrieve these images? Is there a re boot for lightroom? Need help ASAP!

You have probably moved the files outside of Lightroom. The images you see in LR are previews that were made before you moved the files.
Do a search for the files/folders using your computers operating system. (Explorer/Finder)
Once you have found them, you can point LR to the right location.

  • Can't send files to CS5 from Lightroom

For some reason I can't send files to CS5 from Lightroom 5 and have no idea why. It was never a problem before. I also am not able to open files in the Nik collections from Lightroom. Any ideas?

While in LR5. I would either right click or go to the Photo tab > Edit in > Edit in photoshop CS5, or on one of the Nik collections plug ins. And absolutely nothing happens. I tried reinstalling SC5 and LR5 with the updates. And it still doesn't work. My OS is W7. I haven't tried updating Niks collection yet.
I have no idea what to do from here.

  • Can I move files in Lightroom, and I have 5.5 to my Creative Cloud File in Lightroom?

    Moving files in Lightroom...

No moving of files is needed.
Just launch the Creative Cloud version of Lightroom. It should find your existing LR 5.5 catalog and make use of it; if it does not happen automatically, in the CC version of LR use File->Open Catalog
