Limitations while conected HANA universe to design studio

Hi All,
Previously i have created number of dashboard reports in Design Studio using BEx quires. Recently we moved to HANA database. From HANA we have universe connected to Design studio. Here we are facing some problems. It is not accepting huge data. when i tried to see the data in edit initial view, it is showing "data is too large ". looking to know about if any limitations and performance tuning while using HANA universe to Design Studio.
Kind Regards,
Sud.

Hi - please see the SAP Help page 68
http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/AAD14/en/ds14SP02_user_en.pdf
It says "Maximum Result Set The result set has a fixed limit of 5000 rows or 50000 data cells. If either limit is exceeded, no data is displayed"
Please also search SCN before posting per the SCN rules, as this has been asked before.

  • Login Issues to SAP HANA from Design Studio

    Hello All ,
    I am pretty newbie here so the question might seem a bit elementary .We are trying to connect to our SAP HANA environment from Design studio .When we are pinging the XSEngine URL it is responding properly .But when we are  trying to connect from Design Studio the following error occurs .
    Here is the landscape we have designed so far :
    HANA Server is installed .
    BOXI 4.1 SP 5 server is installed .
    HANA and BO servers are communicating through SSL .
    Design Studio Add-on is installed on BO server .
    When we tried to explore the path using HANA explorer we found the path mentioned in the error screen does not exist .
    What we need to do to overcome this error ?
    Regards,
    Sourav Roy

    Hi Sourav,
    As mentioned by Karol, you have to deploy the DS-HANA Addon on your HANA System.

  • Design Studio on HANA - HCP or AWS?

    Hello community,
    Has anyone had experience with hosting Design Studio on an XS engine in HCP?
    We are looking to host Design studio on HANA but are not sure which solution to pick to host it.
    This is our scenario:
    Data source: XML files through an external webservice, weekly upload, less that 1GB of data
    ETL Tool: Data services
    DB: HANA
    Reporting tool: Design Studio on HANA
    Display: External website connecting to Design Studio Dashboard and displaying it within an iframe.
    The solution will be public facing and therefore needs to be in a productive environment.
    From what I have read, it seems possible on AWS. However I am not sure if it is possible with HCP.
    Any experience on that?
    Thanks

    My only experience with this is on AWS - and looking at the PAM https://service.sap.com/~sapidb/012002523100018972812014E I would lean towards AWS; this is what we used during the OpenSAP course with SAP's Jim Rapp
    Looking at this thread here HCP is possible with Design Studio but the poster gave up: Connect SAP Design Studio with HANA Cloud Platform | SCN

  • Design Studio 1.3 - Concern

    Hello Community,
    With the release of Design studio 1.3 - the client expectation has gone up. There are few question that need to be addressed.
    How feasible is Design Studio 1.3 over SAP Dashboard designer in adopting and in implementation ?
    If the client is having only BW with them without any BI/BOBJ landscape in picture, can design studio 1.3 be a wiser choice over Dashboard designer? If Yes then why ?
    In BW landscape what need to be done to get mobile access of design studio dashboard ?
    Does Design studio support Data caching for offline report access and for faster report access - considering back-end as BW not running on SAP HANA ?
    How complex is the coding with respect to custom development ?
    Awaiting detailed answers.
    Regards
    Kumar

    Kumar:
    How feasible is Design Studio 1.3 over SAP Dashboard designer in adopting and in implementation ?
    It depends on your requirements and needs.  SAP has said many times this year if your data source is BW, HANA or a universe that Design Studio supports, start with Design Studio.  Otherwise, per SAP, you have an automatic migration project.
    Q: "If the client is having only BW with them without any BI/BOBJ landscape in picture, can design studio 1.3 be a wiser choice over Dashboard designer? If Yes then why ?"
    A: How would they use Dashboard Designer in BW only?  Where would they deploy?  Not following.
    See previous answer re: automatic migration project if you start with dashboarding on BW.
    Q: In BW landscape what need to be done to get mobile access of design studio dashboard ?
    A: BW only? Question came up at ASUG Annual Conference. In the SAP Enterprise portal there is a Design Studio iview and a portal mobility pack
    Q: Does Design studio support Data caching for offline report access and for faster report access - considering back-end as BW not running on SAP HANA ?
    A: It does not support offline today.
    Q: How complex is coding?
    A: I am not a coding expert, but I am able to apply SDK components.  We heard customers at conference say they deploy without coding too.  If you know JavaScript, you will be comfortable with Design Studio is what I have heard.

    Hi Jenifer
    It looks to me as if the JAVA Home Variable is not set?
    To get to this in Windows 7 you need to right click on Computer and select properties
    Then click Advanced System Settings,  Then Click Environment Variables button,
    Have you got a JAVA_HOME Variable as per the attached screenshot? Please not this need to point to the Java folder on your PC

  • Cascading filters not working in Design Studio with Universe

    Hi,
    I am trying to create cascading filters in Design Studio 1.2.
    I have one data source
    DS_P2 which returns two measures:
    (product code)
    (investment code)
    2 drop down boxes:
    PRODUCTCODEDROPDOWN_2 (product code)
    DROPDOWN_1 (investment code)
    1 crosstab component (to display DS_P2)
    Connecting to a BO Universe, Single Connection, relational SQL database
    Script On Startup:
    //To populate the product dropdown list & Set default value
    PRODUCTCODEDROPDOWN_2.setItems(DS_P2.getMemberList("_Rd3rMcNtEeOlu9zFKasaVQ", MemberPresentation.EXTERNAL_KEY, MemberDisplay.TEXT, 50,"All"));
    PRODUCTCODEDROPDOWN_2.setSelectedValue("All");
    //To populate the Investment dropdown list & set default value
    DROPDOWN_1.setItems(DS_P2.getMemberList("_9HY_4cBvEeOMbdZh-4RtVw", MemberPresentation.EXTERNAL_KEY, MemberDisplay.TEXT, 50, "All"));
    DROPDOWN_1.setSelectedValue("All");
    "On Select" script for PRODUCTCODEDROPDOWN
    //Filter data set P2
    DS_P2.setFilterExt("_Rd3rMcNtEeOlu9zFKasaVQ", PRODUCTCODEDROPDOWN_2.getSelectedValue());
    //Re-populate the Investment dropdown list & set default value
    DROPDOWN_1.setItems(DS_P2.getMemberList("_9HY_4cBvEeOMbdZh-4RtVw", MemberPresentation.EXTERNAL_KEY, MemberDisplay.TEXT, 50, "All"));
    DROPDOWN_1.setSelectedValue("All");
    The image below shows that the second dropdown box is not filtering correctly based upon the selection made in the first drop down box, the second box should display list, E_CASHUP, E_GWROTH, E_STABLE, S_GROW_ACT,ZZZZZZ, P_BAL_IDX
    Does any one know if there is a limitation to creating a cascading filter when using universes?
    Am I doing something wrong?
    ARRRGGGHHH any help appreciated

    Penny,
    You can try using SDK to achieve your goal.
    I posted once a ComboBox example, i know it does not do what you want right now, but it could be a starting point.
    ComboBox with custom items
    Mike also has some great examples here.

  • Abap users autorization for BO BI reports (made in Design Studio) on HANA data

    Hello!
    We are bit new to BO BI and Design Studio. Cauld you help us?
    BO BI reports must represent SAP HANA data.
    We have a lot of users in ERP with their roles.
    We need accordingly restrict users access  to certain values for group of users in given Data Source based on HANA Analytic or Calculation View.
    For example, report must display only “A” Plant data for first group of users, for second group – only “B” Plant data.
    Where should we mantain users (and give them roles) and what authorization use?
    The best way for mantaining users is CUA on ERP for us.
    BO BI supports SAP authorization and role mapping with it's own user groups with no probler.
    But what about HANA? We didn't find any positive information about roles mapping and authorization in HANA.
    It looks like we need to create all users and give them roles in HANA... Is it really so? How to synchronize HANA users and their authorization with ERP after this...
    Thank you!

    Hi - this is a question that is better for the HANA space.  Do you want me to move it there?

    Hello All,
    Thanks for giving time for this thread. I have solved this issue. Actually when we create Feature Project by default all Pugins and Fregemets will be added to featured project(i guess in some eclipse version since SAP has not mentained any Note for this), we need to delete unnecessary plugins from the featured project. Just select all and right click and delete. Then again add SAP Sample SDK.
    Even thought it will packaged properly and will create zip file and you will be able import it to the Design Studio  but you cann't select and install it to the Plateform from Design Studio, make sure for this you have Unchecked Ckeckbox: Unpack the plug-in archive after the installation.
    I think this will help.
    Thanks

  • Design Studio Standard Content in HANA Live Package

    Hi,
    Is there any documentation available for the list of SAP BO Design Studio Apps (also on how to install/integrate) that comes along with HANA Live Package
    Is yes, please point us to the resources.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Ram

    Hi,
    On BW it does, but I'm afraid on Hana not.  But if it is the same view (copied view, it does)
    . So workarounds:
    put everything in one view (if this is possible and is not influencing the perfomancy)
    or use scripting:
            Global script varibale
                 var_vendor string false false
            on startup
                 var_vendor=DS_1.getVariableValueExt("HANA_VARIABLE_VENDOR");
                 APPLICATION.doBackgroundProcessing();
            on background
                 DS_3.setFilterExt("Vendor", var_vendor);

  • Dynamic filter in Design studio using drop-down when data source is Universe

    Hi community,
    Is there anyway to create Cascading filter in Design studio when data source is Universe using drop-down component (Dimension filters cannot be used in my requirement).
    My requirement is,
    I have 2 drop-downs:
    drop-down 1 : shows the regions in a country.
    drop-down 2 : should display states based the region selected in the first drop-down (drop-down 1). Also drop-down 2 should pass selected state as input to the data-source
    Thanks in advance
    Vivek VJ

    Hi Vivek,
    Please check out this post: How to Create Multiple Dropdown boxes (Cascading Filters) when using Universe in the backend.

  • Conditions in Design Studio based on Hana

    Hi,
    I would like to create a Top 5 of Open Invoices, for example in my design studio (release 1.3) dashboard.  But note that my datasource is Hana.  Is this possible, what is the best wat to tackle this? Thanks for helping.
    Grtz
    Koen

    Hi Koen - to be honest, I don't have any best practices for dashboard design on HANA
    I hope other community members will reply.
    Since there are several Fall conferences coming up, it's a great question to ask there in person too.
