Line feed inside c:out

I have the following code to create an input field. The title is a combination of multiple values. In IE the following code works with an
being used as a line feed. But in Firefox it renders incorrectly and does not line feed. Can someone suggest a different way to create a line feed..
Here is the code incase it helps...
<c:if test='${sessionScope.omniPTPARTNAME != null||sessionScope.omniPLANNAME != null||sessionScope.omniFUNDNAME != null}' >
     </td><td align="left">
     <img src='<c:out value='${pageContext.request.contextPath}'/>/images/omniManager/message.png'
          title='<c:if test='${sessionScope.omniPTPARTNAME != null}' ><fmt:message key='Common.PTPARTNAME' />=<c:out value='${sessionScope.omniPTPARTNAME}' />
</c:if>
                    <c:if test='${sessionScope.omniPLANNAME != null}' ><fmt:message key='Common.PLANNAME' />=<c:out value='${sessionScope.omniPLANNAME}' />
</c:if>
                    <c:if test='${sessionScope.omniFUNDNAME != null}' ><fmt:message key='Common.FUNDNAME' />=<c:out value='${sessionScope.omniFUNDNAME}' />
</c:if>' />
</c:if>

tooltips?Yeah, the <img > tag has a title attribute, which shows up as a tooltip when you hover over it. In IE, if you do
<img title="This is on the first line.
This is on the second line"/>
Then a little tooltip comes up with the text on seperate lines when you hover the mouse over the image.
In Mozilla you get little black squares where the \r\n for the line break would be. The thing that gets me is doing any of these does not create line breaks in IE (or Mozilla):
<img title="This is on the first line.\n\rThis is on the second line"/>
<img title="This is on the first line.\r\nThis is on the second line"/>
<img title="This is on the first line.\nThis is on the second line"/>
Not so suprising, I think:
<img title="This is on the first line.<br>This is on the second line"/>
<img title="This is on the first line.<br/>This is on the second line"/>
Since the <br> is located inside the <img> tag.

  • How to insert a Carriage Return + Line Feed inside a TextView UI element ?

    Hello All,
      Does anyone know how can I achieve the above scenario ? I have a string variable that collects and appeneds text messages from various BAPI calls. At the end of the process, the contents of this variable will be mapped to a textview. Problem is, the length of the string collected is way too long and hence not very readable.  I am not able to find a way to introduce a CRLF after each message is read and appended. Can anyone advise ? Thank you.

    Hi Renjith,
      So far I manage to get find a walk-around to the problem by using the TextEdit as what you have suggested. This works fine... till when you try to print it out. As you see, during printing, I need to remove the vertical scrollbar and ensure that all the text are properly displayed and I do not see any visibleFooter = false option (similar to that of a table) available to the TextEdit.
      If anyone has any suggestions or a more feasible walk around that allows me to print the entire contents in the TextEdit, that will be greatly appreciated

  • Folder action to find and replace text and change line feeds

    I want to use a folder action to find and replace text and change Mac carriage returns to DOS line feeds inside text files.
    The text to be replaced is: "/Users/wim/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Music" (without the quotes)
    This text has to be removed (i.e. replaced by an empty string)
    The text occurs many times within each file.
    The files are playlists exported from iTunes in the M3U format (which are text files). They contain Mac carriage returns. These need to be changed to DOS line feeds.
    I have found the following two perl commands to achieve this:
    To find and replace text: perl -pi -w -e 's/THIS/THAT/g;' *.txt
    To change carriage returns to line feeds: perl -i -pe 's/\015/\015\012/g' mac-file
    I know that it's possible to make a folder action with Automator that executes a shell script.
    What I want to do is drop the exported playlists in M3U format in a folder so that the folder action will remove the right text and change the carriage returns.
    My questions are:
    Is it possible to make a folder action that executes command line commands instead of shell scripts?
    What is the correct syntax for the two commands when used in a folder action shell script? Especially, how do I escape the slashes (/) in the string to be removed?
    Thanks for your help

    Ok, I've include an applescript to run a shell command. The applesript command quoted form makes a string that will end up as a single string on the bash command line.  Depending on what you want to do, you may need multiple string on the bash command lines.  I've included some information on folder actions.
    It is easier to diagnose problems with debug information. I suggest adding log statements to your script to see what is going on.  Here is an example.

  • Losing Line-feed in XML parsing (XMLTRANSFORM) or File output (clob2file)?

    Hi all, need some help please!
    I'm using a xslt file to transferm a XML file into a txt format file. Within the XSLT file, there is a carriage-return (<xsl:text>
    </xsl:text>) (it disappeared already, here is what i'm using "#xD" or "#xA", have to take the '&' and ';' away), but the final output txt file seems to lose this carriage-return/line-feed information. The output data became one-line.
    Here are the steps I've used:
    1. lv_xml_data = XMLTRANSFORM (a.xml_data, b.f_xslt)
    => output data into XMLTYPE;
    2. using XMLTYPE.getclobval to get the output data into CLOB format.
    lv_output_clob := XMLTYPE.getclobval (lv_xml_data);
    3. using encoding:
    lv_output_clob :=
    DBMS_XMLGEN.CONVERT (lv_output_clob, DBMS_XMLGEN.entity_decode);
    4. using clob2file write to a file with txt format.
    DBMS_XSLPROCESSOR.clob2file (lv_output_clob,
    lv_output_dir,
    lv_filename,
    NLS_CHARSET_ID ('UTF8')
    Been struggling with these a few days already. Any help is appreciated. I would really like to get some input to see what might cause the carriage-return/line-feed characters lost.
    Thanks in advance!

    A_non,
    After a few testing, I can identify the CRLF was lost in XMLTRANSFORM. I had read your other thread related to this, and try to run this sample code:

    /xsl:stylesheet>'
    BEGIN -- Test statements here
    DBMS_OUTPUT.put_line (XMLTYPE.transform (v_xml, v_xslt).getstringval ());
    END;
    But come out these error:
    Error at line 2
    ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
    ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
    LPX-00230: invalid character 10 (U+000A) found in a Name or Nmtoken
    Error at line 4
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.XMLTYPE", line 310
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    Can not figure out why. Try to use this <xsl:variable name="new_line" select="''& # x A ;''" /> inside my style sheet, but it seems not taking it. Not too sure what's exactly should be the quotes for "''& # x A ;''" (w/o space). If I used doub quote + two single quotes, it returns error, LPX-00601: Invalid token in: ' '; if I used single quote + double quote, it did not bring in CRLF at all.
    Any input?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to insert a carriage return/line feed in a TextEdit without using wrap

    Hi,
    The string that I want to pass to the textedit is
    "Order Notes : bla bla bla
    Shipping notes : bla bla bla"
    The length of Order notes and shipping notes can vary.
    I am using wrapping. But I need to insert a line feed just before Shipping Notes so it comes on a different line inside the textedit box.
    How do I achieve this?

    Good thinking, Craig
    I didn't think of this large textarea being present there, just waiting for a question like this ...
    To sum it up for the lazy ones (cause looking at the examples is always worth it, so go do as Craig told ya g!):
    CONCATENATE
    `Order Notes : bla bla bla`
    `Shipping notes : bla bla bla`

  • Line feeds in a BPEL assign activity as viewed in the BPM worklist

    We are catching errors in our BPEL 1.1 process (created in SOA Suite 11.1.1.6) and sending them to the BPM worklist via a human workflow. We followed the basic documentation found here:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/dev.1111/e10224/partpage_hwf.htm#CHDGICFI
    Before we invoke the call to human task, we assign some strings to parts of the message. For example:
    <assign>
    <copy>
    <from expression="Detailed message:\n\nMore details go here."/>
    <to>....
    When we pull up our error in the BPM worklist and view the detail page, we do not see "Detailed message" and "More details go here." separated by 2 line feeds. Instead, we see the actual text "\n\n" printed out.
    I have tried a variety of other line feeds, but nothing seems to work (i.e. to break up the text on the screen):
    &lt;br&gt; or &lt;br/&gt; - The tags show up in the detailed view. When I view the HTML source, I see it escaped them with &amplt; and &ampgt;
    &amp;lt;br&amp;gt; or &amp;lt;br/&amp;gt; - This exact text shows up on the screen (i.e. we see &amplt;, etc.)
    &amp;amp;lt;br&amp;amp;gt; or &amp;amp;lt;br/&amp;amp;gt; - Same result (i.e. we see &amplt;, etc.)
    &amp;#10; - The line break is visible in the HTML source, but that's just basic HTML whitespace which doesn't translate into a viewable line break
    &amp#xA; - Same thing with &amp;#10; Just HTML whitespace
    &lt;pre&gt; ... 2 carriage returns here &lt;/pre&gt; - I tried to trick it into forcing the HTML whitespace into actual line breaks, but I had the same issue with the &lt;br&gt; where the open/close brackets are always escaped or printed...but never interpreted.
    So...the big question is...what is the proper syntax to add line feeds that an HTML browser can interpret (while viewing the BPM worklist app) when I'm building that string in a BPEL &lt;assign&gt;&lt;copy&gt;&lt;from&gt; expression?
    Please advise,
    Michael

    Can you simply format your expression according to what you need an try? I mean replace
    <assign>
    <copy>
    <from expression="Detailed message:\n\nMore details go here."/>
    <to>....
    with
    <assign>
    <copy>
    <from expression="Detailed message:
    More details go here."/>
    <to>....

  • Remove Line feed at the end of the file while using file adapter

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement. We are sending a file from SAP to FTP using file adapter. we are successful in sending the file to FTP but at the end of the file a extra blank line is created .
    Can anyone please suggest how to remove the extra line feed at the end of the file.
    Thanks and Regards,
    LRK.

    check this:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/2c/181077dd7d6b4ea6a8029b20bf7e55/frameset.htm
    To define an additional string as a separator after the last column in a row, specify it here. The system skips this string when it processes the last column (otherwise the system would treat it as part of the last column).
    Also there are solved threads which deal with same problem....you can even check them out...

  • Carriage Returns, Line Feeds, and Tabs in Text Area

    I am having users copy and paste data from an Excel spreadsheet into a textarea on a BSP page.  When they submit this, since there are tabs and line feeds in the data, the BSP does not recognize the data.  The value in the field comes through as blank. When I manually type something into this field, with out any carriage returns, tabs, etc., the value does not come through as blank?  Does anybody know how to get around this?

    HI
    Iam uploading the data from application server(AL11) to other server.
    In the GLPCA-SGTXT(Table) iam having some text like 'This is good ##'.i was downloded some other data with this text('This is good ##') by using report program in to aplicationserver(AL11) and from there iam uploading that data into other server.
    But here the problem is in the UNIX, it was showing some problem.
    That is actually it need to show the format like:
    001 256 786 This is good## 459786
    But here it was showing like:
    001 256 786 This is good^M
    459786
    So here '459786' is coming to next line. But i need this '459786' also in the same line.
    I am not sure if it is possible to remove CR and LF's using the code the program is written in, but that is what we need to do.   In Unix  ^M is the CR (Carriage return), but I am not sure what LF is?

    It's a brand new iMac and a line of pixelation went out. It looks like it is bleeding from inside of the screen.

    This sounds like a possible hardware failure, perhaps the graphics card or the display. If your machine is less than 90 days old or if you have already purchased AppleCare (highly recommended) give AppleCare a call. You can find the number in the owners manual. If you don't have AppleCare or the machine is older than 90 days old then make an appointment at your local Apple Store or AASP and take it in for service.

    OK, Hope this will make better sense. So right now a I have a routine that loads files like below:
    "TEST\r\n TEST1\R\n TEST2"It's not clear to me at this point what you mean by that string.
    After the initial word TEST, does that string have a backslash character followed by an r followed by another backslash followed by an n? Or does it have a carriage return followed by a line feed. (\r followed by \n)
    We format it when loading in a way that it will look like this when queriing from the DB
    "TEST
    TEST1
    TEST2"It doesn't look like anything "when querying from the DB." That part doesn't make any sense.
    Either the string has a backslash followed by an r, in which case when you render in in a text editor or on a console it will look like a single line with a visible backslash character followed by an r, or it has a carriage return (\r) in which case it will look like multiple lines when rendered in a text editor or on a console.
    Later I re-extract it to a file from the DB and What confuses me is when I inspect the string it looks like this
    "TEST\r\n TEST1\R\n TEST2"How are you inspecting it? If it's in a debugger or similar tool, it's not uncommon for it to be showing a carriage return character (\r) as a visible backslash followed by an r, rather than interpreting it and rendering a new line. This is so that you can see exactly what characters are in there, rather than wondering about the specific whitespace.

    Hello,
    Are you trying to use it in an expression?  Can you try to wrap the vbCrLf with some dummy text just so you can see that it's working.  Like this:
    ="Some text on line 1." + vbCrLf + "Next, line number 2."
    The result should be:
    Some text on line 1.
    Next, line number 2.
