Link a forum in different categories???

Hello everybody,
currently I'm facing the following problem regarding the forums application. Our aim is to realize a forum which should appear in two (or more) different categories at the same time. Technically this means the result should look like the example below :
Root
Category (Cat-ID1)
   Forum (For-ID1)
   Forum (For-ID2)
Category (Cat-ID2)
   Forum (For-ID2)
   Forum (For-ID3)
The forum with "ID2" appears in both categories. This would offer a user to find a forum in two different ways, because the forum topic has overlapping contents and belongs to Cat1 as well as Cat2.
Is this possible? How can we realize this?

Breaking up the weblogs into different categories

It will be really nice to break up the weblogs into different categories based on technical areas(kind of like forum but not that many categories). There could be one category where all the general discussion weblog could be posted. I think this will generate more traffic towards weblogs. Right now lot of the technical weblogs are getting lost among the general content. Just a suggestion. Love to hear back from SDN members.

Once in a while this request comes up and I have the same reaction as Craig has. It's there, just select Topics and every one of them has it's own page.
For example here is the EP page:

Your latest Weblog still on top although there were many other posts on the most recent weblogs page.
It makes me think how we could better make it available to people. The weblogs as well as the link on the main EP page is directly to this page.

Where are you publishing to? Can you publish successfully to a folder on your hard drive? Have you read this webpage: Publish iWeb site using FTP. It may have a clue to where the problem is.
A quick troubleshooting fix is
Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder (Snow Leopard and Earlier).
3 - launch iWeb and try again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
However, when you delete the preference file you probably will have to use the app described below to select and open your domain file with iWeb:
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

Linking my forum profile to the community profile

I'm requesting some possibilities to link my forum profile to my community profile (and to my LAVA profile, that would just be great).
I just realized this because in the statistics of my forum profile, I see a 'blog authored', and while I'm bloging on the communities, this isn't reflected.
After some more thoughts, people like me donate a lot of (unpaid) time to make NI products better. Our participation in the forums and the community could be some cheap way to pay it back to us. If a potential employee or contractor is researching about our knownledge, the profiles could be impressive. If we would have linked them better, we could present us in a much broader background (I really do use the different options I have online for different objectives of mine).

I read your post prior to posting this. I agree that on the long term, a single profile would be cool. But I also like the differences of forums and communities, and having diffrent providers might be the prize you need to pay for this.
I'm more interested in short-term workarounds at the moment. Philosophically I also like to have a cloud identity, so I'm fine with a set of options to interlink my profiles. All the profiles offer some options to link to some web2.0-services (facebook, twitter, icq), the community profile has a field for the forum profile.
I also don't want to just discuss this on a technical level, but in the field of information management. If someone clicks on my profile, what information might this person be intersted in (and which information I want to provide). Well, it wont be a nice woman looking for a data but more likely some other engineer/technican/scientist or someone from a HR department that wants to check my technical expertise in different fields. So for them I would like to display a kind of top-ten charts where I am good at or interested in.
BTW: A personal messanger would be cool for this as well, so I could for example contact someone that was pretty active on the forums for let's say SMTP and directly ask this person if he/she can help my with my own SMTP problem.
I've seen this (some time ago) completley HR related on the joelonsoftware blog, where they where introducing a service (pretty expensive) for HR-departments where they could check the profiles (CVs) against the activity on the stackOverflow.
Don't misunderstand me, I'm not currently looking for a job, I target this with a technical knownledge-sharing intention. If I know that a memeber of the forums has some expertise I need, I'd like to have a look if this person hasn't founded a community for exactly this topic before asking.

The problem is that a keep my photos in different categories and they are in one large folder and several subfolders (2 or 3 levels of subfolders).When I sent it to the Ipad, it just respect the first level of folder. After the first subfolder, all the photos are mixed. Any idea how to keep my original organization just transferring from PC to the Ipad (folder having a subfolder also having another subfolder)?

The Photos app doesn't currently support subfolders, it only has the one level of folder/album. You will either need to change your folder structure on your computer to be just one level, see if there is a third-party photo app in the store that copes with subfolders, or just make do. I understood what the code will do. But it did not work.

By default, P5_TASK_NAME displays Task Name which is passed from Page 3.
So I changed your code as follows so that P5_TASK_NAME value may be displayed with a link.

But P5_TASK_NAME value appears without any link and does not open page 3.
Then I created a new text item (display only) in the same HTML region in page 5 and entered the following code in the default box:

When I ran the application, it displayed the whole code as text.
How can I display P5_TASK_NAME value with a link to open page 3?
Would appreciate your help.

Logoff Link go to 2 different URLs

Hi Portal Knowledgeable Ones,
I am running EP 6.0 SP13. For portal authentication, we use IBM's IDM infrastructure.
Our portal is used by internal users (intranet) and external users (internet). For internal users, portal authentication is performed by our central authentication service. For external users, authentication is performed by the portal's native capabilities.
I have a problem with the Logoff Link.
When internal users logoff, I need to redirect to the logoff URL for the central authentication system. However, when external users logoff, I need to redirect to simply a static URL because nothing more than logging of the portal is necessary.
How do I make the Logoff Link go to 2 different URLs, depending on user type? Currently, I have 2 portal frameworks, one for internal, and one for external. Can I utilize that somehow?

When internal users enter the internal portal URL, the request is directed to our central authentication system.

The masthead is defined in the HeaderiView.jsp in the com.sap.portal.navigation.masthead portal application.
In this JSP there is:
GetLogoffURL method that gets the logoff URL.
isAnonymous method that determines if the user is anonymous.
Use these two to supply 2 different URLs.

SQL Dev 4.0 - Allow shortcut key to be mapped to several operations (if in different categories).

The default SQL Developer 4.0 short cut keys have a few keys that are mapped to multiple operations but the operations are in different categories.
It is not possible to do this yourself via the UI. For example I want to map F9 to both Run Statement (in the Worksheet category) and Compile (in the PLSQL Editor category). Assigning F9 to one removes it from the other and the help text suggests this.
However, I hacked the settings file directly (thus bypassing this logic) and everything works fine. I think it should allow keys to be mapped to different operations as long as they are in different categories.

thanks again for the follow-up. apparently it was just a bug of some sort. i checked and none of my plug-ins shuld have had any affect, and when i went home last night, i tried it out on the macbook and it behaved as expected. apparently a restart on my macbook pro and everything is back to normal. i've since turned the new keyboard shortcuts off and removed the extra one from my mouse buttons.
btw, i was watching trying to find what might be different between the two computers and while nothing there stood out... i did notice the the safari keyboard command was context-sensitive.
when i had multiple tabs open in a window, the command-w in the menu was on close tab, then when i ended on the last tab—now simply the window—it switched up to close window. all is well. thanks for the follow-up.

Unfortunately, that's not all there is to it. You also have to make sure
both the Workshop IDE and the WLS instance are looking at the same project
filesystem. This means you have to share the filesystem from the WLS
machine (typically) and mount it (or, in windows, map it) on the IDE
machine. Specifically, you want to share/mount/map the directory that is
the parent of the domain directory (so, be default,
c:\bea\weblogic700\samples). Then, in the preferences dialog, you have set
the "config directory path" that that mount point and then select the domain
("workshop"). Now you're set.
If you don't do this, things might sort of seem to work but won't. You'll
be editing happily away on the IDE machine, but running unmodified files on
the WLS machine (the real files).
Bottom line: there is no file transfer feature between the two machine in a
remote configuration. Both machines have to see the same file system.

Same artist, different categories

i'm a bit new here so i don't know if this question has already been answered...
my ipod randomly places the same artists and albums in two different categories, i.e. i have two "high fidelity" files in my ipod. both are spelled exactly the same, etc.

Just make doubly sure they are all spelt in an identical manner, even an extra space that you might not notice can make a difference. I have found instances where the spacebar has created extra stop at the end of the line. The quickest way is to sort your iTunes library by artist to bring your tracks together. Click on the first track on your album say "High Fidelity", hold down the shift key and click on the last track in the list, this will highlight all in between. Right click on the list and choose Get Info, you get a dialogue box asking if you want to update multiple items, click Yes and then the Info tab. Overtype the name then click ok and this will ensure the whole selection is identical. Once you've done this connect your iPod, if you are updating automatically it will pick up the changes. If you are updating manually follow the instructions above with the iPod connected and carry out the changes directly on the iPod's song list.

When syncing my phone the different categories that things are saved under appears at the bottom of the screen. what is "other"?

I only have 8G's of memory on my phone so I'm trying to weed out everything I don't need on it but I can't figure out what is being saved in the "other" category. Does anyone have any ideas?

So - I wanted to come to these forums and make a feature request about script locking, but it took me a long time to get back to the forum because I couldn't find a link anywhere. Could you add one to the Help menu perhaps (instead of just downloading the help PDF)? I've got it bookmarked now, but when I am on a different computer I am going to have the same problem again.

Rule Number One - NEVER go directly uinto the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it and making any change no matter how small can corrupt your library and cause data or photo loss
Exactly how were you trying to save a copy of your iPhoto library?
Albumdata.xml does not contain your photos - and again NEVER make any changes to the content of the iPhoto library - no dragging - no changes - never go into the library
We need to know exactly what you did
And probalby the easiest solution is to load your backup from before you messed things up
For reference after you get things working
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

Link between assets in different versions. (One update changes an asset in all 3 places)

I understand the hurdles it will take to give Adobe Muse the ability to create responsive sites, though I have very little knowledge of what it takes to make a change like this I wonder if there is a way to soften the blow of there being no true responsive option. My biggest problem with the 3 different versions (desktop, tablet, and phone) is the updating process. Every time I want to make an update, or a client makes an update, it has to be made in three separate places. This seems crazy to me - often times leading me away from creating a tablet version at all just so it is one less step. It would be great if there were a way to at least link assets between all three versions so that when one is changed all of them are updated. Like I said, I have no idea what goes into programming this software or how easy or difficult this would be to implement. In my opinion, this would be a great way to bridge the gap between the current Muse and a "perfect-world-responsive Muse".

Bottom line compare the SP number as directed to from HP based on part number from the FTP site not the F. number.
My problem wasn't quite that simple, though I wish it was. The Service Manual provided by HP for my computer through the P/N page did not have the processor that came with my computer when I purchased it brand new listed in the manual. I had to go through forums to find the correct service manual to get the specs and see what CPUs would work in an upgrade. When I did that usually the F number not the SP number was used. If using the SP number was standard I don't think I would have had so much of an issue. A big part of the reason I started the search and asked the question was I found references to people using the HP driver page and then upgrading the CPU based on the corresponding numbers provided in the service manual for my exact computer P/N and it not working. And this was both on this HP Forum as well as other forums.

Links to documents behave differently (ie11)

I have an excel sheet , sheet.xlsx, in a sharepoint 2010 library,
http://sharepoint, which is in trusted sites.
I have an IE (11) favorite for that excel sheet.
I have a desktop shortcut.url
if I browse to http://sharepoint/library/AllItems.aspx, and click on the link for sheet.xlsx, Excel opens sheet.xls.
if I click on the IE favorite for sheet.xlsx, I get the little yellow bar at the bottom of the screen asking me if I want to open it.
if I click on the desktop shortcut for sheet.xls, I get the big white "View Downloads - Internet Explorer" pop-up window asking if I want to open it.
I want all three of these methods to just open excel. this is not just with excel documents, i'm only using it as an example. I assume this is a security setting in IE somewhere, but i'm looking at the GPO settings for my trusted sites zone, and nothing
is set to "prompt." every setting is specifically enabled or disabled. I also find it curious that the behavior is different depending on how I open the document.
i'll also mention that the users experiencing this issue were upgraded from ie8 to ie11 this week, and did not see this behavior in ie8 (which is why they are complaining about it now). the same IE security GPO was being applied to the users when they had
IE8 that's being applied now that they have ie11.

When I click on a link the new tab does not open chosen link, it opens a different link entirely

This has been a problem for a month. Before that it was never an issue. If I do a web search, find what I want then click on that link the new tab that opens is the selected link--it is something else entirely. I like Firefox and want to continue using it as my browser but I am not having the problem with Chrome at all so I think it is something with Firefox settings and not my computer a virus of some kind...but then I don't know much about these things.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.<br />
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.<br />
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.<br />
