Link in xml form article text to open another portal page?

Like in all websites our intranet have pages with articles (xml forms) where it's logical for the text to include links to other articles in other areas of the portal.
Since all iviews (km navigation in this case) are displayed as iframes, links within the text only lead to the target page being displayed within the iview/iframe. I need the complete portal page to change to also show where in the page hierachy/navigation structure the user has landed.
I am aware of the related links iview, but this doesn't do the trick. I want the article text itself to include the links.
A logical solution would be to find the page's navigation URL and use this as a text link, but then I would need to add a target=_top to change the whole page around. This is not possible within a xml form. (<a href="/irj/portal?NavigationTarget= navurl://cf1c773631c70d216fe3434ca4dc3a0e" target="_top")
Ideas?

BUT: Still, a link to http://server/irj/portal/link added in the html editor window of an xml form only give the options of opening the link in new browser, or in the active window. The first option results in a massive amount of opened browsers, the second results in the target page being opened in the iframe (not nice!)
Of course I could edit the xml directly adding a target=_top, but every new editing of this file would overwrite these changes.
The best way would be to add a new option in the html editor allowing an option of "fill entire window" when adding a text link that adds target=_top in the xml.
Ideas?

When you add your new field into the parameter mask, please check, if the value is too
long for your parameter mask site. Make a double click on the master attributes of your
report in the object navigator and look at the size of the parameter mask window.
Make it bigger, if you want (vertically und horizontally size).
Check the length of the text of your parameter mask title, too.

Opening a Portal page from UWL item's click

Hi,
I have written a custom UWL connector that connects to 3rd party system to fetch tasks.
This custom connector has been registered with UWL and tasks from this 3rd party system are now appearing in my UWL.
The requirement is to open a Portal page on click of these UWL items.
That is, when user clicks on this custom UWL item, a Portal page should be opened in new window.
I tried setting item's executionURL to following (inside getItems() method of connector) : -

Issue was with iView that I was trying to open in DEV portal.
It worked fine in TEST & PROD portals.
Hence, NavigationTarget=<> approach works fine.

Linking a tab to another portal page

Hi,
Several users have wondered if it's possible to link to another portal page by clicking on the tab. So for example, when the user clicks the tab name they will be linked to a specified portal page and not have to click a link from under the tab? Is this possible?

yes it is, just add an html portlet under the tab with some javscript that redirects to the page you want (document.location.href=http://.....)

How can we create the Readmore link in XML form to opened the KM folder

I 'm working on XML form. I have the readmore link in the form . Nomorrally readmore will link to open the file only . however, I need the readmore link to opend the list of document folder in KMconten -> documents. How can we do? Is it possible.

Hi ,
On the tool bar you have an option "Browser" which is next to "HTML Editor" .
You know that for using these elements wo have to map them with Data Schema.
Step by step
1. In data Model Under Data Schema Add a child and name it Read_More.
2. In the left hand corner ,click on tab Type and from the drop down select "rid"
3.Click on the "Browser" from the toolbar (as told earlier) and drag and drop it on the form.
4. Drag the Data schema which u have made(Read_more) and drop it on the browser on form. On right hand side u will se the mapping done.
5.Click on the "Browser" which is there in the form and on the right hand side of the form u will see the property window.
6.In property window change the value of action property to "Item Entry point"
7. Repeat step 3 and 4 in Render and show form but using "label" nad not browser.
Do not forget to add Save button in Edit Form.
This will solve your problem.

The portal url appears in external links in XML Forms

Hi,
I have created an XML Forms application that should contain a link to an external webpage.
In the Edit view I have created 2 text fields.
1 for the url and 1 urlname for the name of the link.
In the Show view I have created a link (Lable) with:
Hyperlink property: /DataSchema/DataModel/url
Schema Reference: /DataSchema/DataModel/urlName
Style : Function Link
When I run the application It renders the link as a link with the urlname as the name of the link.
Great !! ;0)
...but when clicking on the link it open up a new window with the portal URL + the specified url:
E.g.
Test data:
Name: Google
URL: http://www.google.com
Result:
http://<portalurl>:58000/irj/portal/http://www.google.com
Why does this happen? And what can I do in order to open up the new window with just the url that I have provided (http://www.google.com)

But..
The thing is that it has nothing to do with the application.
E.g. I have tested the SAP_APP_FAQs forms application delivered by SAP.
This forms application has an external link called Read more When I test this forms application everything is OK. It opens up the target URL in a new window e.g. http://www.google.com
This is exactly what I want so I make a copy (save as) of the project. I run the application and believe it or not I got the wrong result: http://<portalurl>:58000/irj/portal/http://www.google.com
I have not made any changes of the application!!
Can any tell me whats wrong?

External link in xml forms

Hi,
I have created a customized xml forms with Edit,RenderListItem and show forms. I created a Dataschema with Datatype "url" and added in the RenderListItem,Show.But when i execute, it always gives an error and most importantly i have changed the Javascript open_url function in the xsl file with url instead of tmpurl in the "window.open" .
The error comes only for the RenderListItem and for Show form, it works fine after changing the Javascript.
Error Details:

Thanks for the reply.I made changes as you have mentioned.But now i get the url encoding error (http://hostname/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/http%3A//www.aprilbiztec.com/) , I have changed the xsl files(for javascript) after generating the project.

PDF-form looses text style on another computer

I created a PDF-form with text fields using our corporate font. My colleague has to open it in the Preview and insert text into those fields (she has corporate font installed). But while opening and typing the text, she got my text style lost (corporate font and probably its size). What should I do for she types in my forn and get the same text style as I have? Thank you.

Do NOT use Apple Preview to open PDF forms. It corrupts them in various ways and is very buggy.
Stick with Adobe software for best results.

Need to Open Another jspx page as popup from template

I have one more question about popups and template. I'm working on JDev 11gU2 ADFRC
I have one template for my all pages, and there is a link on my template to show user information. for that i need to fetch the info of logged in user from database. so i must have to make a page definition of my user info page.
But problem is when i click the info link from my template to open user info page. it is not opening and giving page refresh error.

I made a popup page too to log out from application in the same way, it is working file, but the difference is that page does not have any page def.
But account info page has.
I want to use it without adding dialog: in ADF-CONFIG.xml page

Portal form custom button to call new portal page

Portal 3.0.9
I can create a portal form componment which sets session variables appropriately based on a custom button. I can get a 2nd component such as a report to read this session variable ok as long as it on the SAME portal page.
However, how do I get the form (exposed as a portlet on a page) to call A DIFFERENT Portal page which contains a number of application components reading the previously set session variable? I do not want to call the module directly as it will appear in a popup window.
I've tried using owa_util.redirect_url('page url'); but this gets ignored and the same page is refreshed.
Any ideas?

How to open NEW PORTAL PAGE from current portal page ?

I'm very confuse with my problem.
I have 2 portal page.
portal page I has 2 portlet : portlet A & portlet C.
portal page II has 2 portlet : portlet B & portlet C.
Now my customer want : start with portal page I, when i submit portlet A, program will open portal page II.
I don't know the way to call new portal page from current portal page. Help me, please.

Could you explain a little more exactly what you're trying to acheive? I'm not quite sure what it is you're asking for. Are you asking: "how would you/can you open a browser and direct it to a URL with PL/SQL?"

I WANT TO OPEN A PORTAL PAGE INTO A PORTAL REGION

I have two pages published as portlets(P1,P2). P1 have a portal link to P2 and
it works perfectly. My problem occurs when:
1) I create a new group of pages.
2) In this group, i create a new Portal page(P3).
3) In a region of P3 I load p1 as a portlet.
When I click in the link of P1, P2 is loaded in a complete window. I want to
load P2 in the region that contains P1, no in a new window. I want to keep the
other P3 content when i click in this link.

guess the only way to do so is to create a HTML Portlet which has an iframe that displays your P2.

Why does Firefox open another Start Page tab everytime I hit the home key (which take me to my homepage on the current tab)?

When I hit the home key Firefox takes me back to my homepage (AOL) but also opens up a new Mozilla Firefox Start Page tab. I end up with a whole bunch of unwanted tabs.

Then click on '''General'''.
Now, it should say: '''http://aol.com/''' (or similar), but please check if it has anything after that. For example, if there is a '''|''' after it, that tells FF to open up 2 pages when you hit the home button: AOL and the other page, which in this case is a blank page.
If you see a '''|''' in there, go ahead and adjust it or remove it, if you'd like. If not, please report back here and let me know!

How to Open another jsp page from jsp page

I am new to JSP. I need help to handle issue given below:
I have created one JSP Page for Login which contains Username and Password with a Submit Button. Once user inputs UserName and Password and Press Submit Button, It calls another JSP Page "Validate_login"
Validate_Login JSP does a JDBC call to Databse and validate User Name and Password. Now i want to open a "Employee.jsp" page if Username and Password matches with the one in database.
Pls advice what function or tag should i use to open this page in If (condition) true section.. I tried Window.open but it return back with error.

I tried with the function suggested by Doly. But nothing is happening. It doesn't redirect to any page. only a blank page comes.

While adding hyperlinks, is there a way to show some text before opening the hyperlinked page?

From my help file, I need to add a link to an external source on the web. Is there a way for me to show some message like "You are being redirected to an external page" and when the use clicks the OK button in the message, the actual hyperlinked page is opened?

This is a two step process. In your project add a topic with the disclaimer text. Add a hyperlink to the external site and add an refresh meta tag: http://webdesign.about.com/od/metataglibraries/a/aa080300a.htm
In you project, link to the disclaimer topic instead of the external site.
