Link Load balancing - Data center query

Dear all,
I have a query on link load balancing. My scenario goes like this. The customer has taken web hosting services from two data centers. When an user who is accessing the servcies available in primary data center gets disconnected due to say link failure. Then the services should be available continuosly from the secondary data center. All the services provided by the primary data center should be available now from the secondary data center without any down time. What device i should go for, for doing this link load balancing. After searching a lot in the web, i found this Cisco Global site selector which does the link load balancing between data centers. I want to know whether i have ended up with the right choice? Plz give your valuable suggestions for the correct device i should use for load balancing multiple data center.

That product can be quite good, I believe another company called F5 also makes good stuff in that arena... However, you have to remember that alot of this depends on what application you are doing on these servers. If you're running a service that only hosts static web pages, that's no problem. But, if you're going to be doing ecommerce where it needs to save the users "state" between page loads and such, that gets much more complex and you need to choose the right server software, such as Coldfusion or PHP or whatever to accomodate this too...

  • Oracle RAC load balancing advisory services query

    Hi,
I have a query on RAC load balancing advisory.
Is it possible to create a service for exeuction of a PL/SQL package?
We have UNIX batches which are set of PL/SQL packages that may or may not be linked are executed daily. These batches consumes lots of resources.
So i want to configure my services such that say pkg1 will go to node1 and pkg2 will go to node2 and so on and so forth.
Is it possible to achieve this with Net services and LBA?
If not, is there any other way i can do this?
    Thanks

    Hi, my answers are:
Is it possible to create a service for exeuction of a PL/SQL package?Yes, that is posible, you can create a service for execute PL/SQL Packages, in fact you can create any service that you need and assign the resources and priorities for this service.
Is it possible to achieve this with Net services and LBA?Yes, thats posible, you define the priorities at service level and where the service must run at node level.
If not, is there any other way i can do this?Yes, if you dont wish using the LBA and services you will must create statict definition into tnsnames file for operate connection string and indicate where must connect the session for execute the package.
    Luck.
    Have a good day.

  • Load balance data files

    Hi,
I have heterogeneous sources (txt, foxpro, ora tables etc) to be loaded to SQL Server, which I've SSIS pkg working fine to load these data sources . I need to do a load balance to check the records in the file to compare it with loaded rec in sqlserver tables.
Please guide me with the logic to start with, also if there are any generic code available which can be edited to use for load balancing.
    Thanks
    Neil

    Thanks Ernest,
I have a business requirement to fail the pkg at error.  Hence I need to count the rows from the source file itself, is this possible, or will have significant impact on performance.
    Hi Neil,
I would suggest you post the detail error message and elaborate it with more detail. As Ernest's suggest above, we can use "Row Count transformation" which counts rows as they pass through a data flow and stores the final count in a variable.
For detail information, please refer to the articles below:

  • Set up for TP Link Load Balancer model TL-R470T+

How to configure TL-R470T+ load balancer?
This topic first appeared in the Spiceworks Community

The default ip address for managment of this router is 192.168.1.253
HOWEVER  this access point does not have DHCP turned on by default so you cant just connect (wired or wireless) and browse to that address!!!!
To get in intially you must assign yourself and address like 192.168.1.5, with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
You dont have to put in the gateway but this will be 192.168.1.253.
So once you have done this you will be able to browse to 192.168.1.253 to setup the device.
unfortunatley these are usualy in chinese, which i dont speak so i cant help you there.
The default user and password is admin all lower case.
Once you into the device and have learnt chinese, you can then turn on dhcp and you will be assigned ip addresses automagically and can turn your adapter back to dhcp.
    Good luck

  • Dual wireless/ Load Balancing/ Link Aggregation

    Hi all,
I've been reading up on this topic all day, with multiple Google and Apple searches, but haven't found the exact answer to this query. There was another post on this forum http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1660762 which was vaguely similar.
Basically I'm looking to experiment with combining 2 wireless connections, and therefore 2 seperate internet connections into one Mac.
I have seen suggestions of using a couple of wireless -> ethernet bridges, since Leopard supports Link Aggregation of ethernet devices. But the first question I have is: since I use a 3rd party wireless adaptor (Netgear wg111v3 USB dongle), it already shows up in Network Preferences as an Ethernet port. Leopard treats it as an actual ethernet device, hence is oblivious to the fact it is a wireless adaptor. Since Leopard thinks it's an ethernet port, could I use a second wireless dongle and then use Link Aggregation on them both?
Additionally, if that idea were to work, would it then be possible to connect each wireless adaptor to a seperate wireless network, or would they both have to connect to the same access point?
My DSL connection is roughly 512k on a good day, but I find this bandwidth to be choked when someone else at home is streaming videos etc. So in principle my idea was to have one connection using the regular DSL line as usual, plus connect the secondary wireless to my friend's wireless over the road when needed (and yes he's already agreed to my use since he rarely accesses the net). Therefore, giving a total theoretical bandwidth of 512k x2.
Since I aim for a load-balancing idea (spreading traffic over both connections), the main issue I can forsee is that this Mac will have problems routing traffic with both IPs since I read somewhere else that DNS problems might occur. It seems relatively easy to use Terminal to add a default route for specific destinations (e.g. all traffic to apple.com out of one interface, all traffic to yahoo.com out the other). However, I wondered if web traffic could be forwarded out one connection, whilst email traffic goes through the other. Alternatively, it would be great if web traffic could be "halved" and sent out both wireless connections simultaneously, though I don't think there's an easy way to do this (it would just be a nice feature if possible).
Your thoughts and advice on the matter would be much appreciated, and I'm going to continue experimenting with various ideas and see what I come up with.

  • Load balancing over two separate outside routers and two separate WAN Links

    Hi everybody,
I have one 2851 setup with two separate ISP links and have it configured for failover with BGP.  It works great but doesn't load balance.
Well now I have to new routers (3925's) to replace the single 2851 and I want to configure them to load balance over separate WAN links.
Can someone help figure out the best approach to make this happen?  I would really appreciate it.
    Thank you,

The "best approach", IMO, would be to use PfR (if your routers support it).

  • Data Centre Interconnection - firewall and load balancer deployment

    Hi all,
I've read lots of Cisco docs/white papers on DCI - Layer 2 extension between DCs, but as yet I cannot find any decent information on how best to deploy firewalls and load balancers in such a design. I've seen refs to FHRP isolation on Nexus 7k (and possible 6k if you use DCI block) but nothing on the services elements.
The services element seems to be a complete minefield here:
    - active/standby across sites, or deploy resilient pairs in each site?
    - how to align optimal traffic flows inbound and ooutbound (RHI, SNAT, etc.)
    - best practice suggestions ideally.
Cisco DCI docs seem to always gloss over the fact that most customers would have to deal with firewalls and load balancers here, and simply refer to 'coming soon' for that info.
If anyone has any good suggestions/links to docs explaining detailed implementation info would be much appreciate
    Thanks
    Phil

  • Latest PowerQuery issues with data load to data models built with older version + issue when query is changed

We have a tool built in excel + Powerquery version 2.18.3874.242 - 32 Bit (No PowerPivot) using data load to data model (not to workbook). There are data filters linked to excel cells, inserted in OData query before data is pulled.

The tool runs for all users as long as they do not upgrade to PowerQuery_2.20.3945.242 (32-bit).
Once upgraded users can no longer get the data to load to the Model. Data still loads to the Workbook but the model breaks down. Resetting load to data model erases all measures.

  • Dual WLAN links with load balancing and failover

    Hello,
I am in a scenario where I am in need of two WLAN links between two buildings. There is a distance of 100-150 meters and minimum bandwidth required for both links together is 300Mbit/s. The thing is that both links should use load balancing between them and if one of them goes down, the last one should act as fail over.
I have been looking at Cisco Aironet 1550 Series though I have no idea what is needed to get load balancing and fail over to work, so I am searching here for suggestions on what equipment is needed.
    Something like this:
                  ---------------WLAN Link 150-300Mbit/s-----------
Building                    Load balancing and fail over               Building
                  ---------------WLAN Link 150-300Mbit/s-----------
    Thanks in advance!

    Several points.
When an AP is doing 300Mbps, that's NOT the real throughput you have. It's the data rate at which traffic is sent.
All in all, if your AP/client are doing 300MBps association, you will see max 150Mbps with a file transfer.
From there, I'm not even sure that 11n supports dual spatial streams over such long distances (you can't have multipath in open air) so afaik the 1550 only do 150Mbps association rate (=dual channel with one spatial stream). That means 75Mbps real speed.
I couldn't test a 1550 yet so don't take my word for official statement but that's what I'm thinking.
the wireless links will always be both up and they can be on different channels.
That will then mean that it will be "as if" the remote switch was connected directly to the central switch (where WLC is connected) as the WLC tunnels traffic all the way. So you could do a spanning-tree config on this one I guess to block the port onthe remote switch.

  • Resources for designing redundancy and load balancing among data centers

    Hello all,
I'm looking for resources for designing redundancy and load balancing between two physically separate data centers. I'm looking for some "best practice" links, tips, or recommendations. Any suggestions are appreciated!
    Thanks.

I think that we can do per packet load balancing by using CEF.
Please go to the following URL:
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios122/122cgcr/fswtch_c/swprt1/xcfcefc.htm#xtocid5
Also, you may need local director or distributed director. What resource/application is availalbe in the data centre? (e.g. http server, ftp server, TN3270 server, and so on)

  • How to change the OraSSO login link in webcache/load balance

    Hi
we have 10gAsR1 installed as a Portal instance. We have 6-server
load balancer => webcache as loadbalancer (listening port 80)
Wb ch1 and wb ch2 => webcache (listening port 7777)
    portal1 and portal2 => Portal listening 7778
infra =>Infrastruture with repository Portal/Oracle SSO (listening 7777)
This set up is working fine for our intranet setup, now we need to open this for couple of external clients. Well initially we need to open on the load balancer server on port 80 for external team to access, it works fine when we make it publc access.
Now when we need to make it SSO (siteminder) enables, when users click on login link it first goes oracle sso then it internally redirects the page to site minder sso.
Well, I have noted that the sso server details are mentioned in global setting sso/oid details. Since we need to open this for external client we have to add a DNS entry for this so that we can allow its access over firewall..
Now I have made DNS name change at my infrserver level, now I need to update the change at the load balancer server (where wheb chache is running).
Any one know how to chang the URL at load balancer.
I am struck at this point please suggest how should i proceed..
    Thanks,
