Link Value to Bean

Hi All.
Im new to Java, so if Im going about this the wrong way, please let me know!
Ive got a populated datatable and I want to be able to let the user select one of the rows and then underneath I want another datatable to be made showing records from my database with the original selection as the record ID.
I believed this would be best using h:outputLink tags around my h:outputText component and then assigned the outputText value to a bean (which holds my sql connection info) if the relevant outputLink was clicked. However I cannot seem to find a way todo this. Can any1 help me, or give me help todo it a different way if this is not practical!
Many Thanks in advance.

JSF related questions should be posted in the JSF subforum: http://forum.java.sun.com/forum.jspa?forumID=427
I'll give one hint anyway: HtmlDataTable#getRowData().

    Object ob = JSFUtils.getManagedBeanValue("processScope.ETSId");
    System.out.println(o);
    return null;
    In console I see null.
    How I get this value???
    I can get this value if i use treeTable instead of tree.
    Thx, Dema.

    Hi,
    not that I think it matters, but the processScope is not a managed bean but a memory scope. So if
    JSFUtils.getManagedBeanValue("processScope.ETSId");
    assumes a managed bean then this may be incorrect as most likely there exist no managed bean with this name. You should be able to access the process scope from AdfFacesContext.getProcessScope(), which then returns a Map, which you call get("ETSId") on

  • Is it possible to link values between two numbers pages in icloud ?

    I want to work with different number pages (not sheets) and link values between them.
    The main reason is that I want a group of people to have access to one numbers document and a second group of people to get access to another document that has values extracted from the first document.
    Thanks,

    Thanks for the tip, not only will this help on the few pages I needed, I can utilize this feature for subsequent catalogs and other info that used to be a copy/paste type function.
    I ended up using this feature with a simple find/replace to change the page numbers.

  • Could not initialize the Password Store Database Link value in Preference Store

    I have 9iAS release 2, insfrastructure and midtier installed on the same Windows 2000 box...
    I am trying to install and configure portal on remote machine (solaris) on RDBMS 9.0.1.4...
    - Portal installation was no problem
    - creating a new DAD was no problem
    Now, I am trying to configure portal with MIDTIER mode...It falls over on STEP 1 for INSTALL_ACTION:assocPortalToExistingSSO() module with following error message:
    "SQL> Could not initialize the Password Store Database Link value in Preference Store
    ERROR: User-Defined Exception"
    Database link is been created on my remote database by ptlasst.bat command...
    How do I see whether that DB LINK is working properly ?
    Any comment would be helpful...

    I found the problem to the iTunes Music Store connectivity. When iTunes version 6 is installed, it places a configuration / preferences file in the following location:
    "C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes.pref"
    This file contains several very large keys:
    Preferences:129= (41,826 characters in length)
    Music Store= (1,722 Characters in length)
    Somewhere in these keys is stored are references to userid's, connections or other TCP/IP / internet connectivity objects that are being used when iTunes is installed. By deleting this file, these old setting appear to be cleared out.
    In my case, one or more of the keys in this file appear to have been storing a property from my old dial-up ISP connection that was no longer valid for my new, Comcast cable modem connection.
    Once I deleted this file, and re-started iTunes, it was as if I had never run the software before. I bypassed the option for searching for and importing .mp4's from My Music, and Itunes opened correctly, with full access to the music store. My library and playlists were intact and all is well.
    Apple should re-write the protion of iTunes codes that stores anything pertaning to an internet connection that may change over time. Alternatively, iTunes should either A) Prompt for this information B) Enable user access to this parameter in a settings dialog C) Access this information dynamically at runtime.

  • Comparing value of bean property/textbox in a form to a field in the db

    How do I compare the value of a bean property or the value of a textbox in a form (e.g. idno) to the value of an idno stored in my database using an SQL statement?
    I actually know that my SQL statement should resemble something similar to the one shown below:
    "SELECT * from user WHERE idno(value in the db) = idno(value entered in the form)"
    My problem is I am placing this SELECT statement on a .java file so I am clueless as to how I will state, using an SQL statement, that I only want to retrieve the record whose idno in the db matches the idno entered by the user in the form (whose value I store in a bean that is also inside the .java file I mentioned earlier).
    Should I place my SQL statement in the .java file or should I place it on my jsp instead?
    Any advice will greatly be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    Hi
    Details:
    JSP - Contains a Form for entering ID number.
    Java Bean - Stores the ID number entered into the Form of the JSP page and also has the SQL Statement Object
    The Problem: Where should you put the SQL Statement Object ?
    Possible Solution: I think you are confused about SQL statements execution. This is what you can do. The Retrieved Id number from the Form has to be appended to the preformatted String which has the SQL statement stored in it. Once this is done this statement may be executed to retrieve the data associated with the ID number , if it exists.
    Here is a link that should help you build an SQL statement on the fly and execute it. Try out some of the examples.

  • How do you pass a column link value into modal dialog

    Hi everyone,
    I've got quite a tricky problem...To spell it out:
    1. I have a calendar with column links.
    2. I have a (popup) report on a separate page that shows detailed information about the record selected in 1.
    3. To eliminate the extra page, I've moved the report region to the calendar page, and created a modal dialog to display the report.
    Here's my dilemma, how do I 'get' the value of the column link (when clicked) so that I can use it when calling the modal report?
    (APEX 4.0)
    Thanks!

    True Andy.
    Combining the two examples then:
    function openModal(pVal1,pVal2)
    var l_Return = null;
    var get = new htmldb_Get(null, $x('pFlowId').value, 'APPLICATION_PROCESS=DUMMY', 14);
    get.add('P14_REPORT_FILTER1', pVal1); // set up page items to receive value
    get.add('P14_REPORT_FILTER2',pval2);
    gReturn = get.get(''); // Calls dummy process to set session state
    var tab = $('#REGION_STATIC_ID'); // grabs the region static id
    var report_id_str=$("div[id^=report_]", tab).attr("id"); // finds the 'report_'
    var report_id=report_id_str.match(/\d+/)[0]; // gets just the numeric id
    $a_report(report_id, '1', '15', '15'); // refreshes the report
    // Call to show modal here
    } You'll need to sub REGION_STATIC_ID for your region_static ID and make sure that it exists in the template.
    You could also just sub out the three lines between gReturn and $a_report with the hardcoded value of the region ID like:
    var report_id='R6974536412746853317'.substring(1);
    but if you and your region numbers change (if you import your app into a different app_id) then you'd have to go back and fix these.
    HTH, Thanks Andy for making me READ (not SCAN) the actual post :)

  • Link Value with comma in

    it'clear that I could link on page (pageitem) with another by using the flow syntax but is it possible in the flow syntax to include a comma in the value??
    e.g. transmit a complete sql statement to an report region.
    f?p_106:1:::::P12_TARGET:select attrib1, attrib2 from dual

    Thorsten,
    Commas and colons are not allowed, they interfere with the f?p syntax. In 1.6, commas will be allowed using a modified syntax to allow numeric values containing the comma as a decimal or group separator.
    Passing SQL into a page is a dangerous practice unless you have devised a way to prevent users from passing in SQL that breaches security.

  • Set value of bean objects inthe other beans

    Hi
    i have a session scope bean "mySessionScopeBean" . in this bean i have a String value .
    Now How can i set its value from other beans .
    I searched and find this stufff code for get value :
    Map<String, Object> viewScope =AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getViewScope();
    String username = (String)viewScope.get("userName");
    is this code true ?

    is this code true ?
    Well did you tried it?
    Session scope is obviously different than view scope so you can't use this code.
    Instead you can try with:
    MySessionScopeBean yourBean = (MySessionScopeBean)ADFContext.getCurrent().getSessionScope().get("mySessionScopeBean");
    String username = yourBean.getUsername();  // of course, if you have getter for username attribute.
