Linking Excel Workbooks in UCM

Is it possible to have two Excel workbooks in UCM, with a cell/formula in one workbook that references a cell on a sheet in the second workbook?

Hi there,
I think you can use the web location URL of your target content to do so, you can find this URL in your content information page.
I guess you can try doing the following in workbook1 to link to A1 of Sheet1 in workbook2: ='http://ucm-path/instance/web-location-url/[workbook2.xls]Sheet1'!A1

  • How to link excel workbooks in Sharepoint?

I have a master Excel spreadsheet and other sub excel spreadsheets (all on Sharepoint) that are linked to each other (copied data from one and pasted link to other) so that the Master spreadsheet auto-updates every time a sub document is modified. This
format works if the documents are hosted on my computer, however, the links become broken if they are hosted on Sharepoint and I get a #REF! message. My goal is to have a master document that is linked to data of other sub spreadsheets and auto-updates when
they are modified without having to open the sub spreadsheets. I would like to be able to open the master document, refresh it, and have the current data pulled from the linked sub spreadsheets. Any suggestions on how I can do this?

I have seen this working for some folks in my company. They moved their spreadsheets into SharePoint, and changed the references to other spreadsheets from file paths to be the urls of the items in SharePoint.

  • OData Feed Link Format for an Excel Workbook Stored in SharePoint

I've heard it is possible to use an OData Feed Link to get data from an Excel Workbook that is stored on SharePoint 2013 online. Does anyone know the format for the link? I've been searching high and low and cannot get any specific format that works. Thanks!

I received this from someone on our team:
In PQ, click From File -> From Excel.
In the file dialog that appears, paste in your site url (e.g. https://mycompany.sharepoint.com/teams/myteam).
The file dialog will display the files stored in your sharepoint site. Navigate until you reach the desired excel file.
    Select it and click done.
On the credential prompt, use Organizational.
Let me know if it works for you.

  • Refresh Data feed error in Excel Workbook

    Hi
    I am getting the error
Errors in the high-level relational engine. The following exception occurred while the managed IDbConnection interface was being used The payload kind 'BinaryValue' of the given data
feed is not supported.. A connection could not be made to the data source with the DataSourceID ...
The excel workbook was earlier configured using the data feed which was not stored in a data feed library. I then created the data feed library, placed the data feed in it and edited the connection
    to the new path.
I am getting the above error now. Please help

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when you configured the workbook to use the data feed in a data feed library.
Did this issue occur with all the Excel workbooks which use the data feeds in the data feed library?
I recommend to create a new workbook to use the data feeds in the data feed library following the steps in the link below to see if the issue still occurs:

Please also check if the data feed is created correctly referring to the link below:

  • How to link Excel ActiveX document?

I would like to display the contents of an Excel workbook on the

Labview has set refnum type to excel.workbook and everything

  • Format of Reporting Agent Excel Workbooks

    Hi there.
Is there anyway of customizing the format of the excel workbooks that are produced via the reporting agent?
e.g. maintaining some sort of template or (ideally) being able to customize individual reports.
    Thanks.
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
You should be able to do this by creating a workbook template. Take a look at the following links:

  • Broadcasting and pre-calculated Excel workbook

    Hello,
Is it possible to pre-calculate an Excel workbook using the Broadcast functionality of BW 3.5 and save the calculated workbook on the BW server itself. We don't want to send the workbook via e-mail or publish it on the portal. We just want the users to open the pre-calculated workbook from the BW server itself.
    Many thanks.
    François.

    hi,
Using the BEx Broadcaster, you can precalculate and distribute Web templates, queries and workbooks. You can distribute these reporting objects either in precalculated form or as an online link. Your distribution options include sending by e-mail or exporting into the Enterprise Portal.

  • Converting mutiple excel workbooks

I use Acrobat 8 standard edition.
We successfully convert an existing single excel workbook
with 18 TABS into a single PDF document. One of these TABS has
hyperlinks to other TABS in the same workbook. When we convert to
PDF the links work as expected and we can jump around the PDF using
    them.
We now want to convert a series of multi-tab workbooks into a
single PDF document. OK we could combine several PDF's onto one I
know, but the snag is that the first excel workbook is to contain
hyperlinks to TABS in one or more of the other workbooks, so that
when we convert to PDF these links should jump to various parts of
    the final PDF.
    Any ideas.

Check that you are not using VBA to protect the workbook on Open. This takes much longer in Excel 2013.
It would be code similar to this:
    Sub protectSheets()
    Dim i As Long
        For i = 1 To Sheets.Count
            Sheets(i).Protect Password:="password", userinterfaceonly:=True
        Next i
    End Sub
    Check out this Link here:
     http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/access-help/office-2013-known-issues-HA102919019.aspx
    Excel
    Protecting sheets takes longer
Protecting sheets takes much longer than in previous Excel versions. It’s not noticeable when you’re manually protecting a sheet, but if you have code that protects or unprotects sheets repeatedly, it can become a performance issue.
The delay is caused by increased security in Excel 2013 for password protected files, because it uses a stronger hashing algorithm (SHA-512). In Office 2010 the default hashing algorithm for password protected files is SHA1. This change makes Excel password
protected workbooks more secure than they were in previous versions, but can cause a performance issue for some Office Developers.
Workaround This is by design so there is no workaround.

  • How to remove the triangle of hierarchy in Excel Workbook

My user do not wnat the triangle after drill down a hierarchy from a query in Excel workbook, can any one tell me how to remove them? I want this as the user specific functionnality, not change my system setting for whole BI,   thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    this was an important information
In BEx 3.5 just cut the triangle symbol and save workbook.
I think there is an option in Querie Designer too, but i dont have it available anymore.
I found this link here about presentation hierarchies. It could be that it suppresses the whole hierarchie but its worth a try:

  • ActiveX Excel Workbook Close won't save

I am using ActiveX with Excel and trying to save and close a workbook, but not close the application.
    My question is two fold:
First, I can't get a workbook to close when save is wired up to it and set as True. But, when save is set to False, the workbook closes fine (except it doesn't save obviously). I figured this could be related to the following sentence from MSDN
If there are changes to the workbook and the workbook appears in other open windows, this argument is ignored.
To verify this is not the case, I closed completely out of Excel and tried again. Still the same issue.
So, my next step was to try a workaround like using the saveas method, then I can close the workbook without saving after this (i.e. false constant wired up).
From MSDN: xlLocalSessionChanges = 2       The local user's changes are always accepted.
But, when I wire "2" to the conflict resolution variant for the saveas method, I still get a dialog popping up asking the user if it's ok to overwrite the file.
Has anyone run into this before? I have pasted useful links to MSDN below.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb241584(v=office.12).aspx

  • Linked Excel files on Sharepoint Online

Has anyone found a work around to having linked excel files on SharePoint Online?
Right now in all my tests, SharePoint Online disables the links in my excel file to cells in another excel file and I cannot find anyway to change the links.
This is a pretty basic function that is used extensively in excel so I'm a little surprised that this is not available in SP Online.

    Hi,
According to your description, the links to other Excel files in the current Excel file not working if in a SharePoint Online environment.
In SharePoint, Excel files is handled by Excel Services. In SharePoint 2013, the “unsupported features continue to behave as they do in Office SharePoint Server 2007
    for Excel Services”:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff595319(v=office.15).aspx
Among the “Unsupported Features in Excel Services in SharePoint 2007”, “External references (workbooks that contain links to other workbooks)” is there:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms496823(office.12).aspx
As a workaround, I would suggest that you can transfer the data from Excel file to SharePoint list/library, it would be easier to deal with this scenario in SharePoint
with the content management related feature provided.
You can also submit a feedback to the Office Developer Platform with your expectation about the future version of SharePoint:

  • Collaborate on Excel workbooks with Sharepoint Foundation

My company recently implemented SharePoint Foundation 2013 and our shared Excel workbooks are no longer allowing multiple users to collaborate at the same time. We have verified that all the settings and permissions are correct and that checking in and
checking out is not required. Is this something that is not available with SharePoint Foundation? We are using Office 2013 installed on the clients, not Office online. Thank you.

Co-authoring of Excel workbooks is only supported when all the editors are using the Excel web application, not the Excel client application.
    From
    Microsoft's overview of co-authoring in SharePoint 2013:
    >"Co-authoring is easy to use from the end user’s point of view. When a user wants to work on a document in Word 2013, PowerPoint 2013, OneNote 2013, Visio 2013 or one of the Office Web Apps, he or she merely opens it from SharePoint 2013 or SharePoint
Online, as usual. If another user already has the document open, both users can edit the document at the same time.
One exception to this is that users can co-author in Excel Web App only if everyone uses the Excel Web App to access the workbook. If anyone uses Excel 2013 or Excel 2010 (the client application)
to access the workbook, co-authoring in Excel Web App will be disabled for that workbook while it is open in the client application."
    >"The Excel 2013 client application does not support co-authoring workbooks in SharePoint 2013 or SharePoint Online. But, the Excel client application uses the Shared Workbook feature to support non-real-time co-authoring workbooks that are stored
locally or on network (UNC) paths."
