Linksys offering refunds for WRT1900AC do to false OpenWrt support

I don't know why Linksys has not made an official thread about this. Basically fully OpenWrt is NOT coming as advertised on the box. Refunds are being offered if you want one. Apparently retailers physical and online are offering refunds. Even past the limited return date.

Really...
WRT1900ac software is unstable - reboots by itself, cannot talk between 2.4 and 5 bands, does not supported need functionalliy.  OpenWRT was the out for all, for all Linksys team members even noted such.  Now, OpenWRT is gone too.
So how are members of public are get a router that is meets the functioniality listed on the box????
Linksys needs to get ahead of this and clean up their mess.  Otherwise, they should be hearing from vendors (uncutting the price) of this newest bestest box.  They will be hearing from AGs about false advertising, I guess.  Their Trade-Rag freinds will not keep posting glowing reviews of next product, they help push on the public.
Angry, yes.   Linksys wrote to me, to quietly fix the errors, I posted to this list.  They still have not responded.  The support line is worthless.  What more can wrong for this product, before they really need to save face?

  • How do I get a refund for movies I can't download?

    I purchased two movies on iTunes and I can't download them on my computer or my iPad. I would like a refund. I purchased these movies so my kids could watch them while traveling on a plane, but couldn't download them so we didn't get to use them. These movies do not show up as purchases for which I can report a problem in iTunes. Will someone please help me request a refund for these?

    The iTunes Store support people should be able to take care of the problem. You can contact them using Express Lane.

  • Is there really no way to get a refund for iTunes match?

    Apple does not any support for iTunes Match and has not been able to make it work.
    Why then, does Apple not issue a refund for a defective product?
    Macbook Pro 2.7 with 8GB ram, 10.7.3 with iTunes 10.6.1
    I have created a new music library, created a new user and then imported some my music and even did a fresh install of 10.7.3 and iTunes on another computer and tried that with part of my music. Same thing.
    All fail and after numerous restarts, finally hangs on step 3. I have worked on this for days, letting it run for hours, like now 0 out of 888 items uploaded.
    Support calls have no troubleshooting steps to suggest. The put me on hold and finally hang up. Case # 305222983
    I have seen absolutly no troubleshooting suggestions here in Apple's support communities.
    After all these years with Apple, this is the most misrable mess I have ever seen.

    As I said earlier, "Support calls have no troubleshooting steps to suggest. The put me on hold and finally hang up. Case # 305222983"
    "All fail and after numerous restarts, finally hangs on step 3. I have worked on this for days, letting it run for hours, like now 0 out of 888 items uploaded." I'm sorry if this description of the problem isn't clear enough and requires "mind reading" to understand.
    I tried calling support several times and was on hold for most of the time.
    Thank you for directing me to the discussion suggesting clearing the iTunes cache. That is a great and simple solution and seems like a great first step in troubleshooting the issue. (I wish it would work for me) I have also tried reinstalling iTunes. (As well as creating a new music library and creating a new user and importing music from the "public folder".)
    Apple seems to have realized the problem and are now offering refunds. iTunes match seems like a great idea. I hope they are able to get it working eventually.

  • Can I get a refund for my 3rd Gen. iPad in the UK?

    Hi All,
    I must admit to being disappointed re the 4g situation in the UK. When I bought the iPad i actually already thought 4g was available (i know!) - but in fact now i'm hearing it wont be available for at least another year or two. And when it arrives it won't likely support 3rd Gen iPad.
    I feel i was misled on the functionality of the 3rd Gen iPad and i'd like to arrange for a refund.
    I'm based in the UK - does anyone know if this is possible here or not?
    I read about the case being examined by the ASA but not sure if this has been completed yet.
    Thanks,
    karl

    Yep - I got a full refund - apple collecting it from my office - I think there is a lesson in how this was managed in Oz - if Apple quietly deal with isolated incidents like mine - they mitigate against the risk that the ASA will receive a complaint and in turn force apple to offer refunds - which in turn would cost apple more than refunding some isolated incidents.
    To be fair, it was very simple and easy to do - credit to apple for that - besides I'm just going to buy the new mac book air when they announce it in a few months!!

  • Does Apple offer Credits for purchase that go on sale shortly after purchase?

    I made purchase and with 7 days the item is now on sale.  Does Apple offer credits for such purchases and if so how does one go about applying for the credits?

    I am sorry for my lack of specificity.  I made my purshase through the iTunes store.  I made a purchase and less than a week later the item is on sale for $10 less than I paid for it.  Will they refund the difference if I bring it to their attention?

  • Refund for purchase on itunes?

    I purchased Season 1 of The Killing last night on iTunes on Apple TV but I haven't watched it yet. After I made the purchase, I saw that iTunes offers a Seasons 1&2 package at a cheaper price. • Refund for difference in CD price

    I purchased a CD on Nov 21 for $10.99 and today (11/27) it's $6.99!  How do I get a refund for the difference???

    I don't think you can.  That's how the market works.  Maybe some stores offer a price drop guarantee but at best it's only for maybe 30 days and it isn't the case with anything Apple sells as far as I know.  At best with some hardware you can return it within a time window and then buy it again at the cheaper price I guess.  You're talking about an album though and iTunes Store sales policy is all sales are final.

  • What is the best and most stable firmware for wrt1900ac?

    I recently got the wrt1900ac and I wabt to update the firmware. What is the best and most stable firmware for wrt1900ac?

    The most current version is pretty stable aside the Network Map App which is known to cause a router reboot. Linksys is aware of this and is working on fixing it. Just don't use this app.
    Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
    What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
    What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?
    To safely update FW, I recommend doing the following:
    1. Save router config to file first using IE or FF with all security add-ons disabled.
    2. Factory reset the router with all other devices disconnected or turned OFF accept for 1 wired PC.
    3. Reload or Update the FW using IE or FF. Just download the FW file to your local wired LAN PC.
    4. Factory reset the router and then set up from scratch first and test with out loading the saved config from file. Check to see if any problems are fixed before loading the saved config from file. Sometimes you need to set up from scratch with out loading the saved config file. Just safer that way.
     Any other WiFi routers in the area? Link> Use http://www.techspot.com/downloads/5936-inssider.html to find out. Use v3. How many?
    My current WiFi settings that are working well are Mixed Mode on both radios, Mixed Channel width on both radios, WPA2 only. Manual channel 11 on 2.4Ghz and 149 on 5Ghz. However those channels for your use will depend on whos near by your surroundings found in the InSSIDer app and you'll need to adjust accordingly to channels that are not being used which are preferred 1, 6 and 11 or (13 for out side of the north america region) on 2.4Ghz. WPS, Media Filter and IPv6 disabled. USB Drive Share, WMM and Media Prioritization enabled. LinksysSmartWiFi is enabled along with mobile access app on Iphone 4S works.

  • Refund for useless Broadband due to fault at the e...

    during march 2011 our broadband suddenly stopped working. instead of sending out the correct engineer straight away someone came to check our equipment.
    it went off on a thursday. saturday we had our equipment checked and the following wednesday the fault was found at the exchange. i have to add that this engineer never even bothered to come to the house. just rang up asking does it work. yes. ok and goodbye.
    we had a connection but absolutely no use at all. the speed was worse than dialup. rang back another 7 or more days and another engineer and finally our broadband was back to normal.
    now this chap from sunny India promised that we will get a refund for the time we didn't have broadband. but where is this refund????
    secondly we used to get a discount of £7.50 for our broadband each month which suddenly has stopped as well.
    if i had known thatin advance i would have let them upgrade us to Infinity straight away and not refused it because even the sales person said she can't beat the offer we get atm.
    i wrote about 1 week ago asking all these questions but never had a reply back from BT.
    where and whom do i have to contact to get a refund for 1 week of no broadband at all???

    we keep extending our broadband contract year after year. as we had problems last year with our old router they offered us a completely new deal with a new router which included the discount. but we've never been told for how long this contract will run and as i never had an email like i usually get asking to extend your contract to get a discount i assumed this was still running.
    but the way it looks now we pay more than Infinity customers and even worse way more than any new BT total broadband customer. IMO that is just not right that those get punished who stuck with BT through thick and thin.
    you know sometimes i get the impression that the right hand doesn't know what the left does in this company. it shouldn't be the customer who has to run after things.
    now fingers crossed the billing department is in this lovely country and they haven't moved it up to mars yet
    @pottyperson we had the new bill a week ago and i was hoping the refund would have been added by then. oh well, ringing up BT seems to turn into a hobby of mine.  i don't feel like ringing up today though. i want to find out first what deals i can get to drop our monthly bill drastically.
    thanks for the help everyone

  • Is it possible to get a refund for a case i bought at the store but its not an apple product?

    I bought a kate spade plastic case at the store 2 months ago and even the first day of having it on my iPhone I had multiple issues with it. However, I couldn't return it because I was away at school. I went into the Apple store and asked about the possibility of getting a refund for the case but they said it was a third party product and to contact the manufacturer. I called kate spade and since i wanted a refund and purchased at the apple store there was nothing they could do and to ask the apple store for my money back because thats where I purchased it. Am I ever going to get a refund and what should I do at this point?
    Thanks

  • Report does not prompt for parameters when SeparatePages=False

    Hi all. We are using CR2008 Basic w/SP1 along with VS2008. Within our application, reports pull up fine and prompt for parameters using the CrystalReportViewer against the web service. SeparatePages is set to True. We want to change SeparatePages to False, but when I do that any report that should prompt for parameters is not.
    The reports were created in CR 8.5. We have upgraded them to CR2008 (open, refresh, save) which has greatly increased performance. With some further testing, I've discovered that if I take a report that doesn't currently have any parameters and add one via VS2008 report designer, it WILL prompt for the parameter when I run it in our application with SeparatePages=False.
    So I'm leaning that the problem has to do with the reports originally being created in 8.5. I've tried modifying an existing report with parameters, deleting parameters and re-adding, but I still can't get these to prompt for parameters with SeparatePages=False.
    Again, these same reports prompt for parms and work fine as long as SeparatePages=True.  I'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this. There are over 400 reports so re-creating them from scratch under CR2008 will be a painful option
    If I need to provide any additional information just let me know. Thank you!
    Sheila

    We are still working to resolve this issue. Testing has shown that for reports that don't return a lot of data, the prompt for parameters will display. But for larger reports, we just see the hour glass and the parameter prompt never displays. It's almost like the reports are trying to return the full dataset without any paramters being passed BEFORE it will prompt for parameters. This would explain why smaller reports will prompt and larger reports never will (?). Not sure that is what is happening.  Again, with SeparatePages=True we are immediately given the parameter prompt. With SeparatePages=False we run into the issue of no prompts.
    Here's the code behind if it help:
    ReportDocument report = new ReportDocument();
    try
        String rptFileName = @"App_Data\Reports\" + Request.QueryString.GetValues(0).GetValue(0).ToString();
        log.writeLog("Loading Report: " + rptFileName);
        String rptFile = Server.MapPath(rptFileName);
        report.Load(rptFile);
        report.Refresh();
        ConnectionInfo crConnectionInfo = new ConnectionInfo();
        log.writeDebugLog("ServerName : " + rProperties.ODBCSource);
        crConnectionInfo.ServerName = rProperties.ODBCSource;
        log.writeDebugLog("DatabaseName : " + rProperties.ODBCSource);
        crConnectionInfo.DatabaseName = rProperties.ODBCSource;
        log.writeDebugLog("UserID : " + rProperties.ODBCUser);
        crConnectionInfo.UserID = rProperties.ODBCUser;
        log.writeDebugLog("Password : " + rProperties.ODBCPassword);
        crConnectionInfo.Password = rProperties.ODBCPassword;
        foreach (CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table table in report.Database.Tables)
            TableLogOnInfo crTableLogOnInfo = new TableLogOnInfo();
            crTableLogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo = crConnectionInfo;
            table.ApplyLogOnInfo(crTableLogOnInfo);
    catch (Exception err)
        log.writeLog("Error Loading Report: " + err.ToString());
        this.lblError.Text = err.ToString();
        this.ErrorTable.Visible = true;
        this.ReportTable.Visible = false;
        return;
    CrystalReportViewer1.HasCrystalLogo = false;
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource = report; // _serverFileReport;

  • Frustration! Refund for apps that don't do what they are supposed to?

    How quickly a $2 app turns into a $50 waste of time!
    I purchased a $2 unit converter app to use at work and whenever else I needed it. After playing with it for about 20-30 minutes, I realized that there were several calculation errors. The unit converter simply didn't do correct conversions! (1 foot equals 11.986 inches!?) Now, If I'm noticing some simple conversion errors myself, how many conversion errors are happening that I don't realize? Needless to say, this app is useless to me because I can't trust its data.
    So I contacted the dev, and even got a response within a day. I sent a second message where I had done a lot of troubleshooting for them, hoping they could correct the problems. Nothing. No update, no response, nothing.
    So this brings me to my question... how can you get a refund for an app that doesn't do what it is supposed to do?
    Yes, yes, I realize the "all sales are final" thing. But this is where Apple's usual high level of customer service fails. Am I supposed to buy apps on blind faith that they work, knowing there is no refund? If I was assured that someone was testing these apps and assuring me that they do what they are supposed to, then okay. But that's not happening.
    Oh, wait... read reviews before buying? How is that possible for new(er) apps? If nobody buys it because they are waiting for reviews, then nobody can review it. I'd hate to be a dev and make a great app and have nobody buy it because they were afraid it wouldn't work.
    Not all apps have free/lite/trial versions.
    If this "no refund" policy is to be fair, then there needs to be demo or trial periods on all apps, to be certain that they actually do what they are supposed to! Until then, I want my $2 back so I can buy a unit converter that doesn't have calculation errors. I won't hold my breath for that... or for the ~$50 of my time wasted testing someone else’s app to no avail, and trying to find a contact source for Apple to request a refund.

    I do see where you are coming from.
    However I'm just personally against people buying something with the intent of taking it back and that's what would worry me here. I'm talking about girls I know who buy 4 dresses to take home and try out (and perhaps wear) and then take some or all of them back. Now that's one way to shop but I don't agree with it as I think it makes it more expensive for the rest of us as there is a cost involved in customer service and repackaging returned items. Note that is an example and I don't particularly care about buying dresses myself - except on Fridays when I log on as BettyDP
    And you mention you only want this for broken apps (i.e. ones that fail to deliver what the are for), rather than apps you bought and decided you didn't like/need. But this is a fine line and some people would use such a system to try to claim money back on an app they bought and thought wasn't that good, even if it did what it said. So who's to judge where that line is? And to have Apple employing people to make that call would push up the cost to all the apps.
    Now you genuinely have an issue with this particular app and, in my opinion, deserve your money back. However if you buy 100s of apps and end up wanting your money back on a large proportion of them then I do not agree with you, for the above reasons. When spending money, in my opinion, you should do your research and read reviews to make sure it suits. Sometimes, for a new app, you can't do as much in which case you either take a risk or hope you can get your money back if it doesn't suit. Yes, an item sold should do what it says to meet basic trading standards (and otherwise it's basically fraud), but, IMHO, there should also be a level of caveat emptor (buyer beware).
    Ultimately, for $2, I personally would probably chalk it up to experience and not try to reclaim it - thinking that the time spent trying to claim it back would be more hassle than it's worth. But then maybe that's just me.
    Now your demo point is a good one. Some app developers make a demo or lite version of their app to give you a free preview. That's their choice and not something Apple enforces and they think the extra coding to make this version is worth it in that it hopefully will drive up more sales. I agree it would be nice if Apple put some funky time limit on ALL apps so developers don't have to do this, and so you get it for free for 24hours to trial. It would certainly help in your situation and I myself would also find this useful.
    Finally the time you spent debugging the app is your time. You didn't need to do that and I don't think that's really that relevant here (I presume you aren't expecting to get you $2 back AND some extra because you spent some time fiddling with it?)
    Anyway, now I've made my opinion known (which you are perfectly entitled to disagree with), I'll get off my high horse and actually point you out to something helpful:
    http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/2009/07/09/iphone-app-refund/
    (note I did read your comment about this form not working but I'd say try it again later or on another browser).
    Also note the interesting comments on this link which give more reasons (from a Developers point of view) why this is possibly a bad idea...
