Linksys reset everyday.

Hi, I hope some one might have an answer for me, I've been searching the internet for an answer and I have found some, but not exactly like the problem I'm having.
I have a Linksys WRT160N, the model number does not have a version after it, I just did a Firmware update on it yesterday hoping that that would take care of my problem. It didn't, it did seem like my internet got a tad faster but I still have my original problem.
Every day I have to reset my modem, it's not just wireless it's wired and wireless that doesn't work, but this is the part I don't understand. It doesn't effect every computer or device. For instance, my IPhone, I can connect that to the wireless connection all the time. But when it comes to the two lap tops or the desktop it is a hit or miss situation. Like this morning, I had a PC hooked up, (as soon as I turned it on, it connected fine), but my Mac book would not connect at all, either would my desktop, after I reset the modem my desk top (G5 Mac pro) and the Mac book connected, no problem, and the PC stayed connected.
One thing I do see on my G5 once in a while is a message saying some thing like "some one is trying to access your IP" I believe it's the IPhone, cause as soon as I turn off my wireless on the phone I don't get the message any more. The only thing that seems to stay connected beside the phone is my Dish network receiver. Below is a list of devices and how they are connected and the connection details.
Xbox - Hit and Miss - (wired connection)
IPhone and Ipod - Connected all the time, no problems - (wireless connection)
Dish receiver - Connected all the time, no problem - (wired connection)
Mac G5 - Almost never has a connection when I turn it on - (Wired connection)
PC Laptop - Hit and Miss on connection - (Wireless connection)
Mac book Pro - Hit and Miss on connection - (Wired and Wireless connection)
Once I reset the modem, any device that is on will connect, but if I turn off the device and turn it back on, I have to reset the router. (except for Iphone and IPod, connected all the time, no problem)
I know it has some thing to do with the IP Address. I'm pretty good at understanding things, but I know this is beyond my knowledge.
Thanks,

As you upgraded the firmware, reset the router as it is recommended by Linksys .
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds .
Power cycle the modem and router .
Open the setup page of the router using the IP Address : 192.168.1.1 ( User name= Blank , Password= ' admin ' ).
Configure the settings manually as per your Internet service provider .
Also on the setup page of the router under the Basic Settings you will find an option " Client Lease time " set it to 999 .
See if the connection working fine on your all the devices .

  • Playlist Resets Everyday

I don't understand why my playlist resets everyday. Every morning, I have to physically go into the iPod app, and initiate the "Play" of the last playlist I was on (and it shows 1 of xx). For the rest of the day, I can always pick up my playlist where I left off when going from my BT headset to my BT car. Then, the following day, when I get back in car, it wont continue playing where I left off. I have to bring up the iPod app to get music to play again (I can't even get my BT headset nor the car to intiate ANY music). What is resetting the playlist? Is it an elapsed time thing? Is it the use of other (certain) apps? For example, I use the builtin alarm app every night to wake up to. Does that reset the playlist?

I don't have an answer for you, but thought I would add to it by saying I have the same problem. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this a bug?

  • SSAudit Log is resetting everyday

We have SSAUDIT enabled on the essbase.cfg file. When we look at our .alg file, it appears that the audit records start over every day. For example, on Monday, the first record on the .alg will read:
Log Updates From User [ pedersoa@DEV OID ] Starting At Row [1] For A Total Of [ 10 ] Rows.
The next day (Tuesday) the .alg file will ADD to the previous day's records:
Log Updates From User [ pedersoa@DEV OID ] Starting At Row [1] For A Total Of [ 6 ] Rows.
Simply stated, it seems like the .alg file "RESETS" everyday making an audit impossible over the long run. So basically what we have is an .alg file with thousands of audit lines that restart every day.
How do I get the .alg file NOT to reset every day ?
    Thanks

    Glenn,
I looked at the essbase cfg file and I confirmed that we are NOT using SSAUDITR. We are using SSAUDIT. I don't know why the audit logs are resetting every day. We also do not use the BEGINARCHIVE or ENDARCHIVE function. To shut down Essbase, the DBA is using:
    To stop Essbase:
    /u02/app/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem_plvhype01/bin/opmnctl stopall
    To Start Essbase:
    /u02/app/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/epmsystem_plvhype01/bin/opmnctl startal
Any thoughts on why the log is resettng every day ?
    Thanks Glenn.

  • LION LOCKS UP - I have to Hard RESET Everyday!!!

I have a brand NEW = 21.5-inch, Mid 2011 iMac too... (My 1st MAC...)    My Windows 7 machines are great but I was open to trying the iMac because I love my other Apple products.
It shipped with Snow Leopard and was AWESOME!!!!  I went to the "App Store", bought and updated to - LION 10.7 (11A511) - and it CRASHES everyday!!!
*With MOST programs!!!  I even tried switching browsers to Google Chrome - and it locks up too.
It just LOCKS UP - the Track Pad becomes unusable!!  I grabbed the Majic Mouse - it connects but won't work either.....  SYSTEM - has to be HARD RESET - everyday!!  Apple....  (Please Let us know that you are fixing this!!)

I was frustrated and disappointed in my upgrade to Lion OS.  Every time that I turned the MacBook on, I was able to log in, but the top bar with the Apple and the time etc. would not show up.  The multicolor beach ball would apear and spin, but never go away.  I was able to press the power button and reboot sometimes, sometimes I had to remove the battery in order to get it to stop so that I could reboot.  Finally I checked postings about it and found the one about someone who removed all the Preferences.  I wasn't that brave so I decided to try it on a small scale.  I went in and went to Keyboard, then Keyboard Shortcuts.  There are tons of them set in each of the eight sections.  I unchecked all but the ones under Screen Shots.  Then I held my breath and rebooted.  VIOLA!
Since then each reboot works as it did on Snow Leopard - reliably!
Now I will upgrade my wife's MacBook.
I hope this helps you out.  I have reported it to Apple so that the Engineers can figure out why that would matter.

  • I bought a WRT320N Linksys router and keeps dropping out

I bought a Linksys WRT320N Router about 2 weeks ago. I am very upset that I did not take time to do my home work before I got screwed. I brought the router home and connected it. I am pretty familiar with networking these routers, I had the thing connected for about an hour, everything going good and then my wireless dropped out, my son started complaining he could not get his playstation 3 to work over the net, and then I did a speed test for the internet speed. I got 1 MB/s (Normally I am pegging around 30 MB/s, which is like flying, at least for me.) I was waiting for about 40-60 seconds for my homepage to come up. Disconnected my router from the computer and plugged direct into the modem and found I was still pegging 30 MB/s. Plugged back into the router and sure enough I was at 1 MB/s.I reset the router and charged on. The next day, same thing. So I called Linksys and told them what was going on. Well for one, the person on the other end of the line did not know about routers, I do not think she could even pronounce router if she tried. I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with her. After it was all done and over with her reply was " When it happens again, call us" . Oh yea, I want to spend another hour on the phone going through reset this, reset that. I already have done that.
Anyway, I got on this post and looked up my router thinking you guys may have better ideas than linksys, and of course you did. I read that these routers are overheating. So I connected a fan to the bottom of the router and I have air being sucked through the router cooling it down. So far it works okay. I went 1 week and 2 days before I had to reset. I connected a themometer to the case of the router and what did you know without the fan the router was running around 100 degrees F, the router was hanging in the air so it had plenty of ventilation. If the case is 100 deg. F, the insides must be frying. When I have the fan running the temperature of the case stays at room temperature or just a degree above. It must work some because I was going from resetting everyday to resetting every 1.5 weeks. I will keep you apprised of how the router is doing. I just have to say, Never again will I buy a linksys product. I will buy another brand until the engineers at linksys can figure out how to correct the router they have out there.
(Mod note: Edited for guideline compliance. Thank you.)

It is not possible that all WRT320N Wireless router's would act same, maybe the router you bought went bad, you should replace the router with the same model and that should resolve all your issues...

  • WRT54GS v6 Resetting Itself

One week old WRT54GS v6 worked fine until two days ago...
I noticed that the power light was flashing rapidly, then going steady for a while, and then flashing again. I tried to log into the router and I could not. Unplugged, and plugged directly into my cable modem (TimeWarner), and I still didn't get any connectivity.
Rebooted, and all worked fine w/o router in the loop. Downloaded newest firmware from Linksys, reset the router (which took 4 tries for it to finally reset itself), loaded up new firmware, and all was fine.
Worked for the rest of that night, and all through yesterday. Now the thing has reset itself again!?
It's doing the exact same thing, and before I go through the trouble of jacking with it all over again, anyone got any ideas on how to completely avoid this?

powr light blinking, try first to set static ip on the pc and forced the ethernet card that you have on the pc that is connected directly to the router.. and after that try to ping the 192.168.1.1 that is the ip address of the router.. if you got replies... you can revive tha router by upgrading the firmware of the router...
    have a great day...

  • Receiver file name with counter

While working on proxy to file scenario. I have to maintain receiver file name as ddmmyyyyxxx_nnn.xml,where xxx is constant and nnn is a counter which is suppose to be reset everyday.Anybody can help me on how to achive this...?

    Hello Amit,
Yes. You can achieve this but only using File - NFS Protocol.
A new file is created for each document. The file name is extended with a counter, which is inserted before the file name extension (for example, default002.file). This selection is only available for the File System (NFS) transport protocol.
    Make specifications for Counter Definition:
    Prefix
Specify one or more characters that you want to add before the counter in the file name.
    Format
Specify the first counter to be used. It must be a valid integer number. Leading zeros are permitted.
    Step
    Specify the counter increment.
    Mode
Specify when the counter is to be added.
    After First File
The counter is added when the file name is used unaltered for the first time.
    Thanks

  • WRT 120N Wireless Router

I currently have a WRT54G Wireless Router for 3 Computers that I have to reset everyday! I am considering purchasing  a WRT 120N Wireless Router to replace it! Will I need to purchase all new cards for my Computers or can this new Router work with the ones already installed from the old WRT54G Router?

If you are facing that problem on your all the computers, the first thing which you can try is login to the router setup and below change the MTU size to 1300 and click on Save settings....
If you still face the same problem with the Router, then you need to upgrade the firmware of your Router. Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in search tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop..
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"  After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
    Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

  • NEED TO RESET E3000 EVERYDAY TO ACCESS NETWORK

We purchased a brand-new E3000 router to replace our older Linksys-router to get beter wireless functionality.  Installation was a breeze, out of the box.
Everyday, we have to reset the router to be able to access the whole network.  Previously shared drives and printers are available, so the network functions, but when we try to access the workgroup as a whole, access is denied.  Resetting the router and re-establishing connection on the pc's solves the problem, but only for the day...
This is very annoying for the users in this network.
I have no clue as to what is wrong here ?
    Any suggerstions ?
    Thanks,
    Peter

    Hi "Quack",
The computers are getting their IP adress from the routers DHCP servers, the printers and networkscanner have static IP Adresses.  I've changed DHCP Lease time from 0 (1day) to 9, but I'll have to wait till monday to see if that works...
Thanks and have a nice weekend.

  • Linksys WRT54GC keeps resetting

Out of sudden my Linksys wireless router started to reset a few times a day. This results in all customisations being lost and having default SSID without encryption.
I successfully upgraded the firmware to the latest version 2 build but not change. In the limited logs of the router I don't see anything strange.
There is no problem with router's functionality, it's just that it keeps resetting and then I have to reconfigure all the previous settings. Importing them is not a long term solution.
From time to time the Power LED light is orange (this could result in reboots). I have no idea why this problem occurs.
The user guide says nothing about the orange light ot the power LED. Could be some hardware problem but it is something not persistent.
    Any hints are appreciated.

Make sure the power adapter is properly connected to the router and to the power outlet. Make sure also it is the correct power adapter for the router. The output of the power adapter should be 3.3 V DC, 2.0 A. If the power adapter is correct, then it could be a possible hardware issue. Make sure the firmware has the version 1.06.1. If it is the latest firmware installed, do a firmware re-flash. It means, you still need to do an upgrade using the same firmware version. After that, do a reset and powercycle the router. After the upgrade process, reconfigure the router.

  • I reset a Linksys extender, when I try to navigate Safari using The Linksys network, a Box askin for username And password pops out. What is this about?

I reset a Linksys extender, when I try to navigate Safari using The Linksys network, a Box askin for username And password pops out. What is this about?

Ask Linksys. If you reset the extender it presumably lost the username and password it was supposed to service.  I'd just supply the name and password and move on.

  • Reset Linksys E2000 router and now my HP-6310 is Offline.

I recently reset my wireless Linksys E2000 router...changed network SSID name and WPA security key and now no one on my home network can print to the HP-6310. I am running Windows 7 and when I go to Devices and Printers, &  double-click on HP Officejet 6300 Series, it shows the printer is "offline". My printer is configured as a network printer and is connected to my router via Ethernet cable. How do I get it back online and printing again?
    Would really appreciate any help.
    Thanks,
    Gary

Delete all instances of the printer in Devices & Printers.  Re-add it with this method:
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing. Get its IP from a Network Test printed from the front panel of the printer.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Devices & Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Random reset of Linksys router

Problem:  Linksys router randomly resets in small business environment.
Model Number: WRK54G V2.0 (Router is part of Linksys Network Kit.)
    Router Firmware:  1.00.1
Observations:  Linksys router resets when Sony laptops are using the Linksys router and other routers (from neighboring small business) are on.
    However,
Linksys router does not reset when Sony laptops are not using the Linksys router.
Linksys router does not reset when Sony laptops are using the Linksys router and the other routers (from neighboring small businesses) are off.  This was discovered during after hours when neighboring small business were able to turned off their routers.
Solutions found on internet search:  All internet search solutions found to date recommend replacing the Linksys router with another brand of wireless router.  Solutions date back to March 2005.
Question 1:  Does Linksys have a solution for using Sony laptops in a multi-router  non-Linksys environment?
Question 2:  What is happening in the Linksys router to cause it to reset?

My 1st gen iphone (16GB) is up to the same antics. Pre 2.0 all was perfect. Then then update... During calls, if you adjust the volume for either the iphone earpiece, speaker phone, or bluetooth headset (I'm using the Plantronics voyager 520, which was purchased at the apple store), the ringer volume gets adjusted as well.
Just go into the sounds option under settings, make a call, and watch in awe as you adjust your call volume and ringer volume at the same time.
I've missed calls b/c the volume resets it self to a lower (random) setting. Now I must check after every call. The best part is if you push up on your volume button while at the home screen (the ringer volume pop up appears) and note that you have it on the highest setting, go ahead and check the sound option under settings. It will be at some random lower level. Oh my phone never did this on 1.4. I do hope the engineers are reading this and release a fix ASAP. The main purpose of the iPhone is to be a phone. Missing calls due to a low ringer volume is crazy.
Oh, I've already restored, don't bother, problem was not resolved. I haven't come across any other problems with the 2.0 update.

  • Linksys E1200- Loading administration page frequently requires router reset

    Hello,
I am using a Linksys E1200 router and I've found that in order to load the administration page (192.168.1.2) through a connected computer (wireless OR copper) I frequently (~95% of the time) need to reset the router first.  Otherwise my browser will time-out attempting to connect.  This is the case when other internet activity is functioning OK.  The login/password prompt does not appear in the cases where the admin page is not loading.
Any ideas on why this may be happeneing and how I may be able to correct it?
    Thanks,
    Dave

I recommend doing the following: Download the FW file from the support site first.
    1. Save router config to file first using IE or FF with all security add-ons disabled.
    2. Factory reset the router with all other devices disconnected or turned OFF accept for 1 wired PC.
    3. Reload or Update the FW using IE or FF. Just download the FW file to your local wired LAN PC.
    4. Factory reset the router and then set up from scratch first and test with out loading the saved config from file. Check to see if any problems are fixed before loading the saved config from file. Sometimes you need to set up from scratch with out loading the saved config file. Just safer that way.
    PC Web Browser Configurations
    What browser are you using?
Try Opera or FF? If IE 8, 9, 10 or 11, set compatibility mode and test again.
Disable any security browser Add-ons like No Script and Ad-Block or configure them to allow All Pages when connected to the router.
    Clear all browser caches.
Be sure to log into the Admin account on the router.
Try turning off these features in Chrome:
Top right corner, little bars for options > Settings > Settings (on left) > Show advanced settings.
    Uncheck these:
Use a web service to help resolve navigation errors
Use a prediction service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar
Predict network actions to improve page load performance
    Enable phishing and malware protection
