Linksys X3000 New Firmware Annex A/B Version 1.0.05 Now Available

Just a heads up for the X3000 peoples...now available at Linksys.

Well I've taken the plunge and installed the new firmware. Seems OK in the first stages of use (sync actually up this morning from 18600 to 18800).
I see a fault I reported where the router is reporting the wrong DNS servers in 'Status' is still there though. I have my DNS servers set to OpenDNS and Google (and a quick ipconfig shows they ARE set). However in 'Status' the ISP's are still reported!
1.0.03 was mega stable on my line here and would run for weeks without dropping the connection so 1.0.05 has a lot to live up to!

  • New OC4J 10g (10.1.3.1) Developer Preview now available for download!

A Developer Preview of the new OC4J 10g (10.1.3.1) release is now available for download.
This developer preview release is fully J2EE 1.4 compatible and offers numerous enhancments, including full support for the final EJB 3.0/JPA specifications and Common Annotations (JSR-250) support in the Web container. It also provides a complete Web Services stack with support of JAX-RPC, annotations based development using JSR-181, and attachment support including MIME, DIME and MTOM with support of streaming for large documents.
    See http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/10131/index.html for details.

    I've tried http://localhost:8888, but I get a "connection refused."
I have since found the answer. The site http://localhost:8888/ will indeed work. The problem was that the java_home for oc4j was pointing to a Java Runtime Edition of 1.5.0, and so oc4j was not starting, since oc4j only works with 1.4.x.
Still have the missing info from the readme, though.

  • New firmware Nokia 6110 Navigator version 6.01 soo...

    Hello,
I have found on a few different nokia-related-pages that is a new firmware for nokia 6110 navigator (version 6.01). no information about bugfixes, nokia service centers seem to already have it. more to come.

Ok here comes the first news and bugfix list from 5.11 (and i add 4.22 infos) (i use the numbers from here: /discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&message.id=40488&query.id=554906#M40488 )
a nokia service center did update my phone to version 6.01.
firs of all: seems to be a again just a mini-upfate as 5.11 was.
    - Nokia 6110 Navigator gets firmware 6.01 (02-09-08)
    - Nokia Navigator-Program is still version 8.0.12274 (11422) as it was in 5.11, no updates, no routing towards coordinates as in newer route66mobile8 available.
    - New firmware seems to get better satellite-signal (not faster, but better signal and therefore more satellites that are actually used)
    - No flash lite 3.0, still 2.0
    - Maybe sound quality improved in carkit-mode for the one using the phone, was not yet able to try to talk with another person
    - Battery bug fixed (as in 5.11)
    now concearning the other bugs:
1- could not yet try that alarm-bug
    2- fixed, i hear no sound-crack
3- not fixed, volume +/- still not activated in games
4- i have no dual-sim, can not try this
    5- idem
6- not fixed, deleted numbers still in protocol
    7- didnt try yet
8- not yet noticed, maybe fixed
9- not yet noticed, maybe fixed
10- could not reproduce the problem
11- not yet noticed, maybe fixed
    12- didnt try yet
    13- flash lite 3.0 missing
    14- didnt try yet
    15- fixed
16- not yet noticed, maybe fixed
17- in funkwerdabendorf-carkit with bluetooth soundquality seems to be improved, but didnt yet talk with someone else on phone
    18- not fixed
    19- fixed
    20- maybe improved now
    21- didnt try yet
    22- didnt try yet
23- not fixed, but might be due to the fact, that pc suite has full access during that time to the memroy, therefore musicplayer not
24- not yet noticed, maybe fixed
25- not fixed, old nokia navigator-oem/route66mobile8
    26- fixed
    27- no changes
    28- didnt try yet
    29- didnt notice that
30- no change, still rather slow
31- not yet noticed, maybe fixed
32- not fixed, flash still very greenish/blue
33- no change, button still linked to nokia navigator
34- not yet noticed, but due to the fact that it is the same version as in 5.11 and i have had the problem there too, the problem might still be there
    35- didnt try yet
so here we go. you might find out too, what they fixed and what they havent fixed yet.

  • [Update: Version 0.0.2 now available]Noteo - system tray notifications

After being frustrated with the lack of non-gnome-dependant system tray 'widgets' for things like email and battery monitoring, I decided to have a bash at creating my own, initially only to notify me of system updates, but I realised that I could use the same place to display other things.
Main changes: plugins can now be installed system wide as well as locally, meaning modules can be packaged in the AUR.
Configuration files are now in ~/.config/noteo/ which is much tidier.
    Coming soon:
Module which replaces notification daemon - I just need to tidy up the code and package it.
    Update: 0.0.2 now available
Version 0.0.2 is in the AUR: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15952
some plugins are also in the AUR:
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16032
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16033
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16034
or can be downloaded from sourceforge
    http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile … _id=268802
As you can see in the status bar, when a 'module' want to tell you something, it flashes an icon in the system tray. If there is only one module wanting your attention, it flashes for about 10 seconds, then just displays that icon.
When there is more than one module wanting your attention, it switches to a generic icon. Hovering over the icon will describe which modules are attempting to notify you
If there is only one module active, clicking on the icon will bring up that module's dialog, if there is more than one module active, you will be shown which modules are wanting your attention.
You can also usually bring up the module's dialog by right clicking on the icon and choosing the appropriate menu option:
New feature: module authors can add icons to the right click menu
Noteo by itself has almost no functionality - it acts as a framework into which modules can 'plug-in'. 'Modules' are simple to make, and I hope that some of you will write some/improve mine.
To configure the modules, edit the module configuration files which will be generated on first run and placed in ~/.config/noteo/
Hope this is of some use to someone.
For those wanting to make new 'modules', maybe take a look at the source to the GmailCheck module, which is hopefully quite self-explanatory.

New alerts do not appear on the screen. The 'windows' in the screenshot are what appears when you click on the icon and a module wants your attention. New alerts cause the icon in the tray to change to whatever that module specifies e.g. on low battery, the 'BatteryStatus' module shows your icon theme's battery-critical icon (flashing initially and then becoming static - if there is more that one module wanting your attention, a generic icon is then shown)
Edit: actually the battery module does display a dialog box when the battery is critical, asking the user whether they want to hibernate or not, however this can be turned off. Noteo itself does not display dialogs, the modules can if they so desire. In future releases I do plan to implement something like libnotify notifications which the user can choose to activate. Also I am coding a module for noteo which can replace notification daemon.

    Hi Guenter
Just so you know. You should remove the download trial link from the official addt page on this site. It is there for download, but nothing happens. I was expecting a notification as promised on email, when addt was released. But no such email.
I have after a total reinstall of all my system MAC OSX 10.5.6 finally succeeded in installing all of Design Premium CS4. (Shame on adobe for making this such a hastle!!!).
But when i install ADDT 1.0.1 downloaded today it appears in my extensionmanager, but nowhere to be found in DW CS4. I have restarted DW before checking and all seems to appear ok in Extension Manager.
What could this be and are others having same issues

  • New Skype for Linux released, version 4.3 | Edit: Now in Repo's

A New Skype has been released for Linux.  Not quite yet in our repo's as of this writing.  Skype 4.3 is now in the official repo's.
One of the larger changes is that ALSA is no longer supported and users are instead directed to use Pulse Audio.  I already use Pulse, but I can imagine there will be some people unimpressed with this new requirement.
Unfortunately when it comes to network messaging programs the protocol is what rules.  All my friends use the Skype protocol so I also have to use it to communicate with them.  As far as I'm aware there is no full-featured replacement for the Skype protocol on Linux that also does audio and video.
    What do you think?
Note: I posted in Multimedia, if there is a better place for this please feel free to move it.  Perhaps networking, but Skype is a multimedia/network application.

There is one more option to consider, though, one that I find fascinating: WebRTC. WebRTC is native voice and video chat in a web browser. Both Firefox and Chrome have supported it for some time now, so if you and your friend use one of those web browsers then you don't need to install any special software. Just send them a link to a web page and start using it.
Disclaimer: I tried it about a year ago. Firefox was able to display my webcam video but I never successfully established a connection with my friend. I should try it out again...
I tried it out a few weeks ago on a couple of computers running Arch, and managed to get it working fine between all combinations of Chromium and Firefox (all up to date, mind). I used Talky and it certainly made WebRTC easy. I just need to convince members of the family to stuff Skype now!
Thanks so much for the Talky suggestion.
I tried to convince people to use Jitsi and register for their Jabber service, but unfortunately a lot are content with using Skype.

  • I synced my iPhone which stated a new version of iTunes was now available 11.1.4 so I disconnected the phone and follwed the download instructions - now I get the "MSVCR80.dll is missing from my computer. I have Windows Vista. What to do?

What is the solution for the "MSVCR80.dll" is no longer found in your computer when you are instructed to download and install iTuner 11.1.4?

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • Mobile version of the forum now available!

I am happy to tell you that we have just launched a mobile-friendly version of this forum!
It works automatically by detecting your device and browser, so just visit www.nokia.com/discussions (or any local Nokia site's forum url) on your phone, and you should get this lighter and faster version.
You can use all main forum functionalities: register and login, browse all topics, start new ones and reply. You can create your own mobile signature that's only shown to other mobile users.
This is our first version and we haven't tested it with every Nokia model, so please tell us what you think - do you like it, is something not working, what would you like to see added in the future..?
EDIT - Seems like we just found our first bug - for some odd reason some of the text was displayed white on a white background, so some of the posts were unreadable.
We're working on this, and I've just switched off the mobile view for a while.
I wrote all my posts from 2005-2011 as an "Admin" for this community. I still work for Nokia as an external consultant, so my rank in all posts is now "Employee".

We've noticed the same - it seems that the Nokia site's header is loaded before the browser is detected and the mobile version is switched on. I hope we can do something about this.

  • THRiVE system software version 1.5.0029 now available

There is a software update available for THRiVE tablets.  This new release of version 1.5.0029 improves sleep-and-resume performance and adds additional codec support to enhance the multimedia playback capabilities.  We are aware that some users have experienced the inability to resume use of their device once it goes into sleep mode and have made improvements to address this.
    Release highlights:
Includes some fixes that improves stability and performance when coming out of sleep mode
Adds support for additional multimedia codecs (AVI, DivX with mp3 audio, Xvid)
    Adds display controller enhancements
See this Support Bulletin for a bit more detail on changes in this update.
You can update your system software by either of the following methods:
Tap on the update message which will be sent by the Toshiba Service Station application, or...
Tap on the 'Apps' icon in the upper right corner of the Android Home screen, then locate & tap on the 'Service Station' icon.  After launching 'Service Station', tap 'Check for Updates' and follow the displayed instructions.
    Enjoy!
    Jim
Update: added link to Support Bulletin

I appreciate the fast response to this issue even though I have not been greatly affected by turning off wifi and manually putting the Thrive to sleep after each use. Hopefully those steps will no longer be needed although I think I may have developed that habit by now. Is there a way too provide a way to uninstall Kipersky, which continuously runs even without purchase, or QuickOffice that is duplicated after buying full version? I understand that Toshiba probably has agreements with these and other companies but it would be nice if Toshiba could provide a way to uninstall these and other preinstalled apps that tablet owners don't want, possibly 90 days after purchase registration date, without having to hack the tablet software. Such an option would I am sure be welcomed by all and avoid many folks messing with the installed OS. Thanks again for the prompt update and for keeping everyone advised.

Guys, since I have updated to v 30.0.003, I cannot find any new firmware e.g. 32.2.002 till now (I have enabled the auto update) Any1 can help me ? I have tried to search for new firmware in my phone and ovi suit, but I still cannot find the new firmware, please help

Its still not allowed for discussion here, as changing your product code would also give Nokia Care viable grounds for refusing to fix your device if any problems occur during the process. Simply put, changing codes would be a violation of Nokia policy. Its not allowed by Nokia. Nothing stops you from doing so, but Nokia can refuse further services to you from the Care Centers.

  • Linksys X2000-Annex A New Firmware Release 2.0.05 (revamped 2.0.04)

Now available on Linksys website 2.0.05
Just installed it and will test it out for a few days. Hope this version flies. Dated wrong on Linksys site but this build was just made as you see in the release notes. Remember the cookie issue had to do with the "parental controls" flaw in 2.0.04 .

    Hi
Since I upgraded to this latest firmware 2.0.0.5 (build 2) Annex A, my wireless speeds have been 1/4 of what they should be. My speeds through via wired connection on the LAN port was normal. I believe I was previously on 2.0.0.3 as I think I missed 2.0.0.4 but can't be sure.
Anyway I managed to get a copy of firmware 2.0.0.3 via the link to dsl reports and all is back to normal for the wireless speeds. I can only assume something in the latest firmware with my configuration was killing the wireless speed.

  • Linksys X3000: when a new firmware?

Hello to all of you in the community,
since we figured out that this product has several problems/bugs, I would want to ask if anyone knows WHEN we will receive the release of a new firmware. Now we have only v.1.0.03, but it's incredibly unstable.
Thank you so much for the help!
    Alberto

As there is no upgrades to the firmware for this device it is to unreliable to use I would like a full refund so I can go and purchase a device that will work correctly.
I need a reliable ADSL and firewall in order to allow my kids to use the internet. This device will not save any setting and also keeps restricting the bandwidth.
