Linux 9.0 & latest JDK 1.4...

I;ve install Linux 9.0 onto my AMD 1000Mhz 512Meg ram system
After which i've installed the latest JDK & JRE d/l from sun...right
I've updated my $PATH to append the ../JDK1_4/bin directory
HEre's the problem
I've written this simple program
test.java:
public class test
public static void main( String args[] )
System.out.println( "Working with java & linux" );
when i used javac it compiles [ OK ]
but when I call java test it just waits for ever.... so i reinstalled my
system from scrach and then the inverse happend...i can type java <enter> and
the it shows me the help stuff...but when i try javac...it just hangs?
Any ideas who to fix this?

Just out of interest have you tried other JDKs like IBM or Blackdown,
my system is similar hardware 1GHz AMD 512mb RAM but running on redhat8.
You may also have a duff JDK binary.

do I upgrade the JDK in JDeveloper ? Any specific instructions

    Hi
Yes. You can use a different version of the JDK by following
    these steps:
    1. Tools | Default Project Properties (or Project | Properties
    depending on
    your need).
    2. Target JDK version: Click Define.
    3. Click New. Browse for java.exe. The Class path and Source path
    will
    auto-populate.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Select the new target JDK for any existing projects you wish
    to use.

  • Netweaver SR3 on Linux Enterprise 10 - Which JDK Version

    Hello experts,
we are facing problems installing Netweaver SR3 (Java) on Linux Enterprise. The problem is that the step Import Java Dump hangs and the installation does not continue. According to other forum threads one problem might be a wrong JDK version. We run Linux on 64 Bit AMD.
Could anyone provide a link for the appropriate JDK version for Linux 64 Bit AMD or further informations (SAP Notes, except 716604)?
    Many thanks in advance.

  • [SOLVED] Change from linux-lts to latest linux

    Hello.
I want to change from the lts kernel to the latest kernel yet, when I type
    # pacman -S linux linux-headers
It seems to install the latest kernel but when I reboot and I type:
    $ uname -a
    I get this:
    Linux oblivion 3.14.29-1-lts #1 SMP Fri Jan 16 20:57:17 CET 2015 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Wich means I'm still using the lts kernel, how can I start using the latest kernel? I don't need the lts anymore.

That's right! Changing the contents of the syslinux.cfg file solved this issue; I've also created an entry for the LTS kernel down that one, just in case I have hardware problems again.
    Thank you very much!

  • Updating Linux agents to latest code - GW 8.02 HP2

I've been asked to update our POA on the Linux box to 8.02 HP2 to troubleshoot some issues we're having with the Data Synchronizer.
I was told that updating the agents on Linux was much easier than on Netware, in that you could simply update the files, and stop/restart the processes, thus minimizing any downtime (whereas with Netware, you had to take the agents down before you could even begin the process).
Is this correct? For example, I can run the update, choose INSTALL PRODUCTS | GROUPWISE AGENTS | INSTALL AGENTS to copy the updated code. Is it then a matter of simply running "rcgrpwise restart" to load the new code? Or must I run the CONFIGURE AGENTS first?
This doesn't seem to be very well-documented, and this is the first time I've had an opportunity to update the Linux version of Groupwise, but of course, it's hard to get downtime, too, and my Data Synchronizer system is broken until I can get my POA updated.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

You are correct. Currently at 8.02 -- simply needing the SOAP fixes in HP2. I am only running a POA on this box.
In fact, I had already run INSTALL AGENTS to see what options there were, only to be surprised when it began copying files and completed with no further prompts!?!
Since I now know I don't need to run CONFIGURE AGENTS, I'm debating whether to initiate the "rcgrpwise restart" to load the new code (and possibly disrupt service if problems arise), or wait until the middle of the night, which will delay resolving my Data Syncronizer problem yet another day...

  • Package com.sun.j3d does not exist (Linux - Fedora Core 6 - jdk 5.0)

    Here's the thing.
I realize it's probably a classpath issue, but I don't know where to put the libraries. Compiling non-3d code works fine, which leads me to believe that running the j3d installer in the right place ought to put the libraries in the right place and let me use them. Clearly this is not the case.
Now I've tried to fiddle with the classpath, specifically I've put this into my .bash_profile:
    CLASSPATH=.:$CLASSPATH:$HOME/Libraries/ext:$HOME/Libraries/i386
    export CLASSPATH
And stored the jars in a libraries folder on my home directory
Odd thing: echo $CLASSPATH sends out empty, like CLASSPATH isn't even defined. How do I fix that? And if that's true, why is the regular javac working?

I'm on RH Linux using the latest JDK and Oracle 8.1.6.
My code is below. Specifically, it breaks at the line where i create a new OracleXMLQuery. I'm importing, oracle.xml.sql.query.*, of course. I can't for the life of me figure out why its giving an XSLException, since I'm not calling anything XSL related:
    Connection con = getConnection();
    OracleXMLQuery qry = new OracleXMLQuery(con,"select * from TABLE");

  • JDK with SQL Developer 3.2.20 Not Latest Version 6 Update

    SQL Developer Team,
Why doesn't the new version 3.2.20.09 have the latest JDK 6 Update 37. It still has Update 35 which has security vulnerabilities.
Also, the download web page here
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html
says it is Update 11 "Windows 32-bit - zip file includes the JDK1.6.0_11"
    Bob S

Why doesn't the new version 3.2.20.09 have the latest JDK 6 Update 37Timing. Update 37 was not available until 10/16. Update 35 (08/30) had only recently been included due to Oracle Cloud requirements.
As a convenience, one of the 32-bit Windows downloads includes a JDK. There is no commitment to provide the most recent update.

Please read the Linux install notes for JDK 1.3.1.
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/install-linux-sdk.html
    I'll paste the relevant parts:
    Known Problems
RedHat Linux 6.2 is the officially supported Linux platform for J2SDK 1.3.1.
Limited testing has been done on other Linux operating systems, and the
following are known problems on the non-supported platforms.
a.. If you use Red Hat Linux 7, we recommend version 7.1 rather than 7.0.
Limited testing has revealed problems when using J2SDK with Red Hat Linux
7.0, some of which are described below.
b.. The newer glibc-2.2.x libraries cannot correctly handle initial thread
stack sizes larger than 6 MB. This can cause a segmentation fault on come
Linux platforms that use the newer libraries. Such platforms include Red Hat
7.0, Mandrake 8.0, SuSe 7.2, and Debian 2.2. The problem will not occur on
Linux platforms that are using glibc-2.1.x such as Red Hat 6.1 and 6.2. It
will also not affect Red Hat 7.1 because it uses a different thread stack
layout. This problem is being tracked as bug 4466587.
Workaround - Use "ulimit -s 2048" in bash shell or "limit stacksize 2048"
in tcsh to limit the initial thread stack to 2 MB.
c.. When System.exit(int) is invoked on Red Hat 7.0, the program never
exits with a non-zero value. This problem is apparently due to a bug in the
exit function in libc.so library. To avoid this problem, use the supported
Red Hat release, version 6.2, or, if you want to use Red Hat 7, use version
    7.1 rather than 7.0.
d.. On RedHat Linux 7.0, if you want to use the Classic VM rather than one
of the Java HotSpot VMs in J2SDK 1.3.1, you must download and install
    glibc-2.2-9.i386.rpm file available at
    http://www.redhat.com/support/errata/RHBA-2000-079.html. Do not install the
i686 files available on that same web page, as those will prevent proper
functioning of the Java HotSpot VMs in J2SDK 1.3.1.
e.. If you use RedHat Linux 7 Server, you must manually install
compat-libstdc++-6.21-2.9.0.0.i386.rpm to prevent "error while loading
shared libraries" when using the Java HotSpot VMs. This file is located in
the /RedHat/RPMS directory on the RedHat Linux 7 CD-ROM. You may also obtain
a copy of this file from http://rpmfind.net. To install the file, use this
    command:
    rpm --install compat-libstdc++-6.21-2.9.0.0.i386.rpm
It is not necessary to manually install
compat-libstdc++-6.21-2.9.0.0.i386.rpm if you are using RedHat Linux 7
    Workstation.
f.. When using RedHat Linux versions other than 6.1, the font.properties
file may fail to display some Symbol/Dingbats characters properly on some
AWT components. To correct this, use this revised font.properties file to
    replace the one at <JAVA_HOME>/jre/lib/.
g.. Caldera OpenLinux uses version 2.1.2-3 of glibc. Because that version
is not greater than or equal to 2.1.2-11, the Java 2 SDK's rpm installer
will fail during its dependency check. We recommend that you obtain an
updated version of the glibc library available from Caldera at the following
    locations:
    ftp.caldera.com:/pub/updates/eDesktop/2.4/current/RPMS
    or
    ftp.caldera.com:/pub/updates/eServer/2.3/current/RPMS

  • Which JDK to install weblogic 10.3.3 in Linux 64 bit machine.

I jave a Linux 64 bit box. I am trying to find out suitable java env for installing weblogic. JDK 64 bit, downloaded from Sun, is raising noClassDefFound for java/lang/object. Not sure if my platform is not correct or that .bin file is wrong. Can I use jrockit for installation?

I tried installing 10.3.2 on 64 bit linux with the Sun JDK and had issues (smart update didn't work). I retried with JRockit and it installed just fine and smart update worked. I haven't created any domains though as I'm planning on installing OEM Grid 11g on it.

  • Install various SUN jdk on linux

    Hi,
I am using netbeans 5.0 on linux (mandrake 10.0) running on SUN jdk 5.0 update 7.
I have to make a project using SUN jdk 1.3.1 (SUN jdk 1.3.1_18 is a requirement).
I tried to install SUN jdk 1.3.1 but it complains that there is a newer version already installed (i.e. SUN jdk 5.0 update 7).
In wanted to have both SUN jdk installed (I need 5.0 to run netbeans, and 1.3.1 is a requirement for the project). This way, I would specify SUN 1.3.1 kit for the project in netbeans using the "java platform manager" feature.
I forced SUN jdk 1.3.1 install (using rpm ,with rpm -i --nodeps jdk131.rpm), and managed to have both SUN jdk installed at the same time.
But I did not manage to include jdk 1.3.1 in netbeans java platform manager (the directory is detected as a J2SE directory, but gives an error on next screen and cannot be added).
(One possible alternative would be to use IBM or Blackdown jdk 1.3.1 (both are detected without problem in "java platform manager"))
(Another alternative, would be to try some cross compilation modifying ant scripts for boot classpath...)
(Another alternative would be to do this under windows (where both jdk can coexists and netbeans 5.0 agrees to add SUN jdk 1.3.1 without giving an error))
But I wonder if there is a way to do this under linux with both SUN jdk.
    Any idea?
(I suppose I am not the first one to try to do this)
