[SOLVED] Change from linux-lts to latest linux
Hello.
I want to change from the lts kernel to the latest kernel yet, when I type
# pacman -S linux linux-headers
It seems to install the latest kernel but when I reboot and I type:
$ uname -a
I get this:
Linux oblivion 3.14.29-1-lts #1 SMP Fri Jan 16 20:57:17 CET 2015 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Wich means I'm still using the lts kernel, how can I start using the latest kernel? I don't need the lts anymore.

That's right! Changing the contents of the syslinux.cfg file solved this issue; I've also created an entry for the LTS kernel down that one, just in case I have hardware problems again.

Printing format problem from Linux GUI
Hi!
We have configured Printer for Linux Clients with "U" access method and users are able to take print out through Linux GUI. However, the printout is not in desired format. For example, PO printout has rows, columns, lines, borders, etc. which are printed correctly through Windows Printer. But when we take printout from Linux, lines, borders, logos, etc. are not printed, and only raw printout is fired.
I believe some ABAP development has to be done. Can anybody help in this regard please.

ABAP-ers usually create those program (smartforms or ALV list) using SAPGUI for Windows so if you switch print them using SAPGUI for Java it's going to be different either print out nor print preview.
I used different technique so that my Linux client can print program (that had been created using SAPGUI for Windows) without changing any code on the program.

Data services job failes while insert data into SQL server from Linux
SAP data services (data quality) server is running on LInux server and Windows. Data services jobs which uses the ODBC driver to connect to SQL server is failing after selecting few thousand records with following reason as per data services log on Linux server. We can run the same data services job from Windows server, the only difference here is it is using SQL server drivers provided by microsoft. So the possible errors provided below, out of which #1 and #4 may not be the reason of job failure. DBA checked on other errors and confirmed that transaction log size is unlimited and system has space.
Why the same job runs from Windows server and fails from Linux ? It is because the ODBC drivers from windows and Linux works in different way? OR there is conflict in the data services job with ODBC driver.

JFrame icon won't change in linux
In windows, I'm able to change my JFrame's icon with the setIconImage(Image) but doing the same thing on linux (Gnome) does nothing. Is this a bug or is there something else I need to do to change an icon in a JFrame?

Hi folks,
I have a curses based application that I'm porting to Solaris from Linux.
To avoid having to write a curses based text editor I want to be able to run a shell window from within the curses application and then use vi as the editor.
The following code works OK on linux

}On Solaris I get a shell window as expected but when I run vi to edit a text file the normal navigation keys don't work.
UpArrow, DownArrow, Left & Right simply display escape codes. j,k,l,h (which should navigate around the file) dislpay j,k,l,h -- but if I then use "i" to change to vi insert mode, type some characters, then save and exit then run vi again, the charactes I've entered appear in the "right" place (As if j,k,l,h had navigated correctly)
Anyone out there know how to get this to work correctly?

Uninstall oracle 10g from Linux Red hat
is any body know the standard procedure to uninstall oracle 10g from linux red hat.
The correct answer is "Undo the changes you made during the install"
By this I mean:
Stop all of the processes
Delete the ORACLE_BASE directory (usually the one one level up from ORACLE_HOME)
Delete the oraInventory directory if it isn't inside ORACLE_BASE
Delete /etc/oratab, /etc/oraInst.loc
Delete /user/local/bin/coraenv, /user/local/bin/oraenv, /user/local/bin/dbhome
Undo any environment settings you may have modified (in .bash_profile and bashrc)
That should be just about it. That's how I usually clean out my system between installs.

I've been using Gmail's built-in sms client and just had the idea that it would be neat if I could send SMS directly from Linux (CLI or a programme like pidgin)... Just wondering if anyone knows of a service for it.

Rsync errors when syncing from linux centos 5.1
I run this command to sync from linux directories to apple pc:
rsync -arv --exclude-from="/Users/blwegrzyn/exclude.txt" --delete [email protected]:/shared3/ /DATA_BACKUP
during the copy i see files being copied
and if i run it again i see same files being copied again
so around 1% or less was not copied correctly
it looks like there are some special characters that macos does not like
what is the proper way to do rsync so files are copied correctly from linux to apple ? When I copy linux to linux i dont have any issues.

Bartfor example directory that has character:

cannot be copied and every time i run rsync it tries to copy it again
when i look at the destination folder I see that the directory actually was copied, but when i run rsync again , rsync deletes that directory and starts over
if i remove special characters it works

Print command from linux PC on to Windows Environment

We have SAP on Windows and the network printer is also on Windows, the PC with Linux is integrated with network printer i.e when the print command from Linux is given the output is available from the printer (Windows). But when the print command is given through SAP there is no output from Printer (Windows).

Printing SAP documents using Linux client is a little bit tricky if you want to get good printing result just as when you print from your Windows client.
If you want to use G printing method (on Linux client), you can't use SAPWIN on device type since SAPWIN is relying printing method. You must use exact printer driver. For example when you're using Dot Matrix printer Epson LX300+, you can use EPESCP2
I am using different method to cheat this and it's completely work.

Currently I have Cianogenmod, since I'm getting tired of it, I want

How can I download and install the factory image from linux
using adb and fastboot?I don't think sony provides fastboot flashable images.
